Shared Pain

Jacklynn P.O.V

I struggled to get up, now that E is across the room from me, I was able to look around. The stairs are blocked off with debris, and that larger green demon. It bared its teeth and uttered a low warble, and Kilinco returned a similar sound and posed in his fighting stance. Neither moved, though. They were waiting for one of them to make the first move.

A bright beam broke through the debris and hit the demon's back, causing it to yowl in pain and spin, daring it's opponent to attack again. Sophie is holding her bow, and is standing next to Giza, with his staff. Both weapons glowing in some sort of aura. This gave plenty of time for Kilinco to leave his post and jump onto the demon's back, and leaving me to fend for myself.

I ran towards the stairs and ignored the screeches. As I ran, I tripped over something, looking down, I nearly squealed in delight at seeing what it was. The staff I had from before! And somehow, it is all in one piece! I pick it up, and realized I don't have any mana. And the mana that is there is actually spilled over the floor, shifted around by the fight.

I can still use this as a weapon though, but I am interrupted from my thoughts by my sister. "Jack, come on let's get out of here!!" Sophie yelled through the noise of the fight.

I look up, and before I could even take a step, I felt something wrap around my ankle, and forcefully pull me across the room. Knowing E is the one doing it, I raised my foot, ready to kick. Then I realized....E just changed.

He is now over seven feet tall, and needles for claws with dark grey skin and scales, stitches on his arms and tail. His teeth are bared and he has two horns, broken at the tip. He laughs as the string returns to his palm and raises his claws. It swiftly came down, but somehow, I managed to parry it with the staff, and butt his head with it. Not thinking, I scramble up, throw the staff behind me, and run towards the exit.

Kilinco is now pinned, barely keeping the teeth from biting down on his head. I couldn't leave him, he needs help! I turn and, surprised at myself for gaining such speeds, tackle the blue demon down and out of the way, knocking out the needle in its arm as it fell. I didn't know I could do that!

Then, I remembered what Raven said. The needles. They control the demons.

Grunting, the demon scrambled up. The eyes turn from silts to rounded, as it looks at me. Calming and calculating. The eyes just seem so.....calm. A big contrast to what it tried to do with me earlier. Kilinco looked at me, and with what I thought was a smile, turning and leaping towards E, who stalked in the background.

They begin fighting, but I was more interested in what is in front of me.

I notice something, their scales seemed rough up along the belly, but other than that, they were smooth, and there is also fur for their back and arms, the scales seem like they encase a small spiral pattern. Their eyes look a lot like buttons, but they are actual eyes with a button-like pattern in the iris. Their tail, now curled up and rested on the floor, is whip thin with a tuft of fur at the end of it. at the end of it. Their teeth isn't exactly bared, it just shows, but not in a menacing way now. I realized that as I was observing them, they were observing me.

The demon seemed elegant. Graceful, even.

"G looks beautiful, huh?"

I spun to the voice behind me, and to my surprise, I saw my mom, smiling at them. The demon, which I think is G, lowers their head in respect. Not even waiting a second, she gently touches their head with her hand. And then lowered her head to theirs. They touch foreheads momentarily. She backs away, slightly wary of the battle, and takes my hand. "We are leaving, now."

"Mother, no. I need to help Kilinco!"

"You have helped enough, sweetie. Right now, we need to go." She starts to pull me to the exit, and I take my hand back. "No. I am not leaving him!" I yell. To prove it, I pushed past her and pick up the staff I dropped, then a handful of Mana from the floor.

Kilinco is now bleeding red in some bites and scratches, and panting, but still fighting. And E has many tears in his fabric like skin that is bleeding out some sort of black substance. One of his horns is knocked off, and he seems a lot more angry as he is attacking Kilinco's back and neck.

I suddenly felt energy going up my arm as the Mana disappears and the staff end glows. I direct the glowing towards E, and then, a sphere formed from it. It shot out of a staff, and in an arc, it hit E dead on the head, but Kilinco was blasted too. I stopped, thinking I hurt Kilinco a lot worse now, but, when I look at where he got hit, he barely has the burn mark, unlike E, who is slightly singed from the shot.

E glares at me, and, ignoring Kilinco, charges straight for me. I couldn't move, even if I was walking, I would freeze. Time seemed to slow down, and for some reason, I began analyzing the situation.

E is crawling on all fours, and heading towards me in a very fast speed.

Of course. The most crazy answer is the logical one.

I charge to him, my legs suddenly having the strength to. And I leap, while pointing the staff downwards. Silently I fueled my anger by imagining him going after the others, and then surely, the staff didn't want that. It shot a torrent of fire on his back, and I heard a pained screech as I stumbled onto the floor, nearly falling flat on my face. I look back to see a dark mass of smoke surrounding the screeching demon.

I almost smirk, but then I saw it.

E changed to his doll form, but his seams are torn slightly, and out pouring is this black like liquid, and his form seemed to be fading. In and out. As if he is a hologram. He looked...helpless. His eyes weren't a pale blue anymore, they are now back to those glossy black buttons.

For some reason, I knew this is not the E we were all fighting.

As if on cue, the large green demon took a hold of E, looked at all of us, before disappearing with E in a cloud of smoke, which dissipates quicker than it appeared. Sophie walks towards me. I somewhat expected a 'congratulations, you defeated your first enemy' or a 'I couldn't be more proud!' Instead, she places a hand on my shoulder, "You are an idiot. Running in like that blindly. You could of hurt yourself-"

"Shut it, I didn't." I told her, surprised at my sudden bravery. Maybe it is the fight or my numbness of my mind and crazy thoughts, but I felt like I couldn't be talked out of danger for some reason. My body is tired, but it itched for another fight. Especially when I thought about the fire that I caused. Why do I feel so happy about fire all of a sudden?

A whine interrupted my thoughts, I turn and gasp at seeing the large gash in Kilinco's neck, still bleeding, and heavy at that. He looked at me, and we locked eyes for a second, before he became too weak and fell to the ground, now still. I run to him and shook him, for some reason, my feelings have heightened towards him and I don't want him to die. "Kilinco!? Wake up buddy, please!" Why am I saying buddy...it doesn't matter. Not as long as Kilinco is probably dying.

Mother goes to his side and gently holds her hand on his head, "Rest."

Kilinco's body glows, and before I realized I have never seen him turn back into a necklace before. His form shrunk as a light engulfed him. And now as the green necklace, but not glowing. I reach out, but don't touch as my mother said, "He needs to rest. We can heal him back in Musiphan." For some reason, I felt obligated to carry the necklace...no matter how painful it may be. And this is when all things went a bit crazy.

As soon as I hold his necklace, a torrent of pain washed through me, and my body is shaking. I felt like i had bites all over. My skin scratched and bleeding. I realized it was really bleeding. No tears through the clothing, as if the scratches just suddenly appeared. On my neck, the same spot where Kilinco was scratched at.

I think I must've screamed, because I barely saw mom rush to my side and hug me, gently petting my head as if everything will be alright. I felt numb but I still held onto Kilinco...why so much pain...?

I barely heard another voice say something about 'leaving'.

I close my eyes, and somehow, managed to fall asleep.

"I'll do the chapters monthly." Kitten Jebus on Catnip, why did I say that before?

Anyway here is the new chapter. I am thinking of making a new book, by the way...you might see it soon, but I still need a cover for it. Unfortunatly (or fortunatly for some of you) Autodesk has a new update and it is slightly harder to navigate through it.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter, be sure to comment whether you liked the idea of Third Person Battle Scenes (which I call TPBS.)
