Coming Home to Nobody

I woke up in the same alleyway that I met the bunny dog thing. Knowing that it wasn't a dream, I rubbed my eyes in the darkness and felt around for the small bunny looking thing. I think I'll name it, but my eyes widened when it wasn't there. I then threw the rag on me and sat up, I then stood up and looked around, then I looked into the box where I first found it, but it wasn't there either. I started to get worried and started looking around the alleyway quietly. What if someone took it away? What if it got hurt while looking for more food? All these thoughts that I never considered flowed around my head, but I wondered where they're coming from, and why I was thinking them. I shook my head, and continued looking in the darkness, only with a single street lamp illuminating the alley; I guess it's still early in the morning, since the street isn't as busy as it is late at night.

I heard a crash of metal against floor, and it echoed. I stood still, wondering what it remind me of. Like the pot in my house, but a bit different since there's only concrete, not tile. I sighed when it stopped and I saw a small opening and it seemed just big enough for the bunny dog to slip through, I got down on my knees and crawled through the opening into the endless darkness. I looked around hoping to see the same bunny figure somewhere, and when I did, I sighed, "Don't scare me like that little guy! You almost gave me a real heart attack..." I said as I walked toward the figure. For some reason, it looked a lot bigger than the bunny thing that I saw, and then, I decided to pull out the flashlight. It was low on batteries, so it flickered and only showed dim lights.

I saw the thing and I backed away when it saw me. It looked the same, same color, same scars, some patches on it's tail, and a half torn off right bunny ear on it's head, but it seemed...bigger. Much, much bigger. It walked on its two hind legs over to me and purred, but the pur was a lower one, and much longer. When it was in front of me, it was nearly as tall as me, but the one in the box, or at least how I remembered it, was no bigger than a dog! I wondered how it grew so fast in such little time, but I forgot about it when it gave me a big wet kiss with it's tongue. I smiled as I gently wiped the slobber off of my face, but he did it again later. "Hello...." He growled. I did a half gasp, "Y-You talk!" I said in wonder. He nodded, "Yes...I do talk to friends. I didn't realize who you were before until I saw you!" He said happily, or so I thought.

I smiled, but then it slowly turned into a frown, "Wait...you know me?" I asked. He nodded, "Don't you remember me? Or..." He stopped and sniffed the air, then his eyes somehow were duller. He looked at me with the same dullness, "You don't remember....Oh......I think you should go now..." He growled, and added a slight hiss on the 'you', and retreated into the darkness. I was about to call after him, but he was long gone by the time I opened my mouth. Go where? I have nowhere else to go other than....

I saw what he meant and I ran out of the building, then I picked up my pack. I left the rag there, just in case if he wanted it. I started walking, but I didn't know where I was. So I started walking in a direction that seemed like the right one. I passed, and there weren't really any cars anywhere, and I don't have any food, and I couldn't go into the fruit store and get some, since it's probably closed, and I don't even have any money. I groaned internally and kept walking.

~Time Skip~

I was in trouble.

I was just walking and taking directions that seemed right, but now I am stuck in a police car, but I don't think that they are going to take me home.

This all happened like this.

~Flashback~

It was still rather dark. After walking for a while, I was just turning a corner when a hand grabbed me from behind. I quickly turned around to see who it was, but it was just this man. He was a taller than me, and the man had black hair, and his skin is pretty tanned. His green eyes were looking over me uncomfortably, either for me or him, he had a few scars on his face, barely noticeable, and he was wearing decent clothes. I put my fists up in case if I had to fight, even though I don't have a weapon with me, I can still use force. He lifted his hands up, his voice was rather high for a person that looks like him, "Woah, sorry for startling you. I was just asking for directions!"

I put my fists down, but I was still tense enough to make a bolt for it, or to hit him hard. "Well, where do you want to go?" I said impatiently. I don't even know these streets either, but I might be able to get him away from me. He gave a smile as soon as I talked, "Well, I was wondering which way the nearest hotel is, I just want to go ahead and rest." He said, and gave me a wink, as if he's hitting on me. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and disgust, "Well, the closest one that I know of is nearly a mile from here." I said. That part is true, if I am near where I think I am, then it is actually a mile west of this place. I pointed into the general direction, "That way. Now leave me be." I turned around and started walking.

What I said was harsh, I thought, but I don't have the time for boys 'asking' for directions to random girls that they see. After a while of walking, I noticed footsteps behind me. I turned around and saw the same boy but he just jumped into a nearby alleyway, I shrugged intentionally and kept walking. I this time, walked into the opposite direction of the hotel, east, and saw that he was truly following me. I turned around again and looked at the boy, before he could run, I yelled, "What do you want from me!?" I yelled. After I got silence, I grunted and kept walking.

But as soon as I turned, the hand this time wrapped around my stomach and my mouth, making me immobile and unable to call for help, though I still struggled and yelled through his hand. I would bite it, but I wasn't able to since he stuck a cloth into my mouth and kept my arms in his grip. I soon realized I was being abducted and I started kicking at his shin, letting him think that he's got an advantage. But I kicked higher with my left leg and hit him in that spot. He instantly let go after a grunt in pain, I started running, and took off the cloth from my mouth. I didn't drop it, in case if he's going to use it again. I instead threw it into the gutter and it landed with a quiet splash in the sewer.

I started running again, and I could sense that he's right behind me. I soon ran out of breath and wanted to rest, but he tackled me into an alleyway. I was so tired, but I managed to make a weak cry, "Help!" He then pinned me down onto the ground, "Now stop squirming!! It'll make it hurt more, but I don't care for that!!" His eyes lost the kind look in them, and now it's filled with a psychotic look inside. He pulled out a pocket knife and smiled, then he raised it, and I closed my eyes. "HELP!!"

Nothing came, except something dripping onto my shirt. I opened my eyes and I suddenly gasped.

The man has blood coming out of his mouth, and his arm isn't raised anymore, instead it's limp. And that's not the reason I was surprised, the reason was that I saw a pair of silver irises, one and a half rabbit ears, and a claw hooked into the man's back. He suddenly let go of the body after dragging it off of me. I scrambled up before I could get hit from it, but I somehow knew that it didn't want to hurt me. But when I looked where I last saw it, it was gone, but the body was there, bloody and limp. And a pair of red and blue lights started flashing in front of me.

~Present~

The car pulled up to the police station. I was escorted out of the car and sat into the waiting room. They questioned me about the man, and I said that he was attacking me, and someone helped, but he ran away. They didn't question me further when they asked what the person that helped me looked like. It was soon noon, and I didn't tell them my parent's phone numbers yet. I don't want my parents to be angry at me, or even worse, worried, since I'm fine. They did eventually find my face in one of the photos in facebook, and called my mom. By that time, I was upset and wondering how am I going to get out of this mess.

Eventually, my family came through the doors leading into the waiting room, and my mom and sisters were crying and hugging me and asking if I was okay. Somehow, I was numb to all of this, I didn't relaxed that my parents didn't hate me, or happy to see them again, I just felt numb...My dad had to talk to them, and Henry was trying to look chill, but I knew that he was curious of what happened.

When we got into the car, everyone was asking me questions, like "What happened?" "Are you hurt?" "Why did you run away?" "Do you feel cold?" "Are you hungry?" And many more. I just ignored all of them and waited for the ride to be over. But of course, nothing is over, as my brother asked, "Who was the guy you killed?" And everything went silent after that. I looked at him, he was actually smiling from this, but there is nothing to smile at. "No one. I didn't kill anyone." I simply replied with a cold voice, "C'mon, the policies said that there was a dead body next to you! And it was all bloody, so you must of killed him!" He said with somewhat of a cheery voice. I just gave the same look to him, but my voice was completely emotionless and cold, "Would you like to become the body?" I asked slowly. Everyone this time shut up, and didn't look at me for the rest of the ride. Even Henry, who always had something to say, was shocked.

As soon as we got home, I slammed the door of my room and stuffed my face into the pillow, and let all my emotions come down in tears. After a good long minute of sobbing, I turned to my side and looked at the necklace. No one has touched it since I left, and the same voice vibrated in my head.

"You do know that you'll have to leave soon."

I was silent for a bit, but then I replied in my head, "I know."

"Are you ready?"

".....I don't want to go....."

"Think about it: you haven't progressed any further since you've met me, if anything you are more confused than ever before, and you are brimmed with questions. Like who I am? And who was that creature that you saved and it saved you? Or if there are more of us?"

"How do you know all of these questions?"

"I have my ways. But that still leaves a question from me. Are you ready to find out the truth?"

I was silent then. I couldn't say yes, because my parents will come looking for me. And I can't say no, because that creature will have to keep pestering me about it, and someday succeeding. I took a deep sigh.

"....I'll think about it."
