Chapter 9-We're Both Her's (Pheonix Part 3)

"I..." I began and hung my head low, "I am not human..." The room went silent. There was no need to say more, no need to remain in that room. At least until his Majesty came to my side, throwing Rhal back into the wall.

"Then, what are you?" He asked in great anger, "ANSWER ME!" His shouting voice shook the building and I fell to the ground with a large thud. I was in a panic, my head was spinning, and my eyes came quickly onto Rhal, he was covered in scars and blood. My body grew cold, as I screamed violently, my eyes in yet another fiery blaze-but I could see. I was in control.

"Well, well, well," The Guild Leader said as he stood, "Wouldn't ya know, Adrion? It's her daughter."

"Or she's just lying about her magic," He scoffed. I had had enough. I stood and held out my hand, his Majesty flew back against the wall and without a second motion, fiery wings flew from my back.

"I am no liar," I said and my eyes grew brighter, and before I knew what was happening, my body went numb. I fell to the floor and took in sharp, deep breaths.

"Tristian," Lady Grandma said as she and Rhal came to my side, "Breath Child, breath." I took a few more sharp breaths before I stood, Rhal helping me to remain steady. We looked as his Majesty stood and sat back down, motioning everyone to do the same.

"Then, if the last soul is truly gone," He began once more, "Then we proceed with Plan B. Asch's soul will be cast out to renew our magic supply. As previously stated. All agree?" Everyone was agreeing! Everyone except, Rhal and Lady Grandma.

"No," I said and pushed off of Rhal, "If you want to do that you'll have to get through me!"

"Sit down Child!" Lady Grandma said.

"NO!" I said and back came the wings, a blaze of light following behind me, "I made a promise to my sister! To myself! TO THEM! YOU AREN'T KILLING A SINGLE ONE OF THEM!" My eyes grew sharp with fire. I took a thick breath and shut my eyes.

Ava... Dad... Pop... what would you say if you saw this? If you saw how I was acting?

"I will protect them..." I said quietly as I sat down beside his Majesty, "No matter what... Adrion." I narrowed my eyes as the meeting continued. I kept a calm head and used the skills that Dad taught me over the years. Calm composure, steady yet firm standing, but never, fully shut down an idea, just, hold off on it. Except for that one with Asch. THAT WENT RIGHT DOWN THE TOILET!

"So, how will we conserve our magic supply?" One of the people asked. I looked up and thought. We didn't even have any magic back on Earth... we used daily things, while the guys... used their magic, to even... clean themselves.

"I have an idea," I said, "Make things that do what your magic does." They looked at me like I was insane. "Before you tell me no. Listen. Back on Earth, we have things that could help. I remember the guys, um... Noi, Rhys, Pierce, Lief, even Asch, they smelled so bad. They didn't use their magic to clean themselves, my sister and I taught them how to use, what we have as a bath. B-A-T-H. You use it to clean yourself, no magic required."

"That's absurd!" One of the girls from the Outcast said, "Whose ever heard of that!"

"I have, it only takes water and some soap," I explained. I continued to explain things from Earth that could help here with the magic, the whole time. My focus was elsewhere. That man in the armor, the one with the Guild Leader, his eyes were on me the whole time.

"Well, that should conclude today's meeting," Adrion said as I stood and focused my eyes on him.

"Not yet," I stated with a fixed finger on the guard, "Who are you?" I asked with eyes fixed right to him. "You've been staring at me this entire meeting, and it isn't the first time I've seen you. So I will only ask this once. Who. Are. You?" He took a step around the table towards me, as I stood straight and tall.

"Her's," He answered and then reopened another portal, "You know where to go if you really want to know... And I promise. I won't try to kill you."

When the room was empty, sitting down at the end of the table had a thickness to it. Adrion had order Rhal and Lady Grandma out of the room so we could speak... in private. I let out a sigh as he leaned over and stared me down.

"Who is he? We've been trying to figure that out for years!" Adrion screamed, "Who is he?"

"He's..." I said quietly, "Let's just say... we're both her's..."

"WHOSE HER!?" He screamed, the room shaking again.

I began speaking softly, slowly, stretching out each word as I stared him straight in the eyes.
