Chapter 13-Awakening (The Dragon Part 1)
"Wake up," A voice pounding into my head, "Wake up, Tristian. You need to remember. Remember what you're doing." It kept going, the voice awoke, harder and harder, trying to wake me from my peaceful slumber. "Wake up, Tristian. They need you. He needs you." I shuttered and shook, my body was feeling cold, as cold as it did on the first night in Damos. I was... cold. Dying. "You can't give up yet. What would Zolia say? You said you'd protect them. If this is protecting them-dying-then continue, I'm sure Pierce wouldn't mind..." I jumped awake, breathing heavily while I gripped at my shirt. My bandages were changed, and the air was thicker. The sky was growing dark, and the water was floating around us. I look up and see Pierce with his hand through the river, he was moving it. His eyes dart to me and he stands with a firm hand on his sword.
"Are you alright?" His eyes asked in the silence. I nodded and stood. Why does it matter to Pierce if something happens to me? I slowly walked in his direction, my sight slightly blurred, my body cold. I stood in the center of everyone and reached my hand into the water. "Tristian?"
"I'm okay," I said in a hushed whisper, "I feel... free..." I felt more than Pierce's eyes on me. Lief, Rhys, Asch, even Noi, they were all awake.
"What's going on?" I heard someone ask. Asch. I lowered my hand and took in a sharp breath, "Tris. What are you-"
"Quiet!" Went a voice around us, "Leave her be. She must activate this power." I looked for the voice. It was near... or all in my head... I looked around, the others were still talking, but I didn't hear any of them.
"I've seen this before..." I could hear Noi say vaguely, "When I was a child, the boy who brought me to the castle did this on the way there... Her powers are activating." Powers? Is it painful?
"Go, my sister, this just how it must be," I heard the voice say, "Go." My body suddenly dropped limp, and the question of if it would be painful or not was answered.
I didn't feel anything.
"Come this way," I heard a voice say in the darkness in my head, "Come this way child... It'll be over soon." Over? What's going to be over? "It will be over soon..." I took a step forward, watching the world turn white around me. It was so, bright... and... warm. Is that what dying feels like? Am I dying? "Everything will be over soon..." I finally realized the voice. It was Dominick...
"NO!" I shouted and things around me went... white. A flashback to the world around me as I crouched down onto my knees. I let out a violent scream as my hands gripped my hair and tears trailed down my cheeks. I felt rough wings pierce through the skin on my back as I cried out, and a tail stretched down and lashed around behind me. The rough skin scratching my own as bite my lip down to hush my screams.
"TRIS!" Rhys shouted in unison with Asch as they ran to my side.
"DON'T!" I heard Noi screams as the two were thrown down onto the ground, "Her powers are going to hurt anyone who touches her! She needs to relax, she needs to calm down!"
"We need to help her Noi! Move!" Asch demanded. The grip on my hair tightened as I stood up, glaring yellow eyes flashed around to all of them. The screaming, the yelling, all of it. I couldn't, I couldn't. It was... to... much-I just-
"AHHHHHH!" I screamed out as my wings formed fully behind me, my tail lashing behind me-hitting something. I turned, it had hit Lief into a tree, and the tree broke, falling on him. No...
"Lief!" Pierce screamed as everyone ran to his side. The tree was stuck on him, and he couldn't... he was stuck under... I began to panic, fear flooding through my body as the real pain settled in.
He was going to die... because of me...
