The escape

Running away from your problems won't solve anything in the end.

Elena's eyes widened and her heartbeat quickened when she saw Robb storming towards her. She couldn't figure out what he was planning to do, his face held no emotions whatsoever.

He did walk towards her with furious steps though, making her afraid of what he was going to do. He did try to kill her last time they saw each other, they hadn't solved anything so Elena couldn't hope on any other outcome.

She wasn't planning to die though. Her wings unwrapped from behind her back when she turned around and walked the other way. When she was out of his sight after she had turned around a corner, she flew up and then landed on the top of the building.

She silently sat down on the cold roof that was made out of hay while looking down beneath her. Robb came into her sight but he didn't see her, why would he look up?

Elena heard him groan and sigh deeply. He turned around a few times, searching for her. Robb sighed again and then slowly walked away.

"Is he troubling you?" A voice from behind her startled Elena, she jumped slightly and looked up at him.

"He was." Elena sighed and then smiled up at Steven who sat down next to her, looking at Robb's back that became smaller and smaller from his point of view.

"Isn't that Robb Stark?" Steve frowned when he recognized the King.

"Yes." Elena looked down at her hands. How was she ever going to solve this with Robb? Did she really have to flee every time he's around just like she did before?

"I thought you two were together, you told me you protected him." Steve frowned while he kindly looked at Elena.

"I do, I just..." Elena sighed and looked up at Steven's kind blue eyes. "He tried to kill me last time we saw each other. He was under control off the Lannister's guardian."

"Is he still?" Steven asked.

"I don't know, that's what frightens me the most. I don't know when he's under control or how I could stop it." Elena looked down at the courtyard. Robb's army was still marching in, it had grown since the last time Elena saw it. Arya also arrived in Castle Black, she was staring up in awe, the immense wall towering over her.

"Sooner or later you will have to talk with him, running away won't help." Steven stated and also looked at Arya. She let out a shriek when she saw Jon, who opened his arms for her. Arya ran into him and enveloped him into a crushing hug, making Jon chuckle in delight and relieve.

"I know." Elena sighed but smiled when she saw Jon and Arya together. Robb soon joined the two, his shoulders where still slumped and a frown was still covering his face but he smiled at the two and laughed with them.

Seeing the family together reminded Elena about hers. She had no idea who she actually was or who she was meant to be. Elena was afraid of the answer when it came to her parents. Will it change her when she finds out who they are? Will it change her feelings and thoughts about the Starks or the war in general?

Elena didn't want to change, that she knew for sure. She took out the doll and looked at it. She remembered what Gillian had told her, it held a secret about someone. Not just a secret but a secret that will change everything.

Elena was scared of change though. She didn't dare to reveal the secret, afraid of what consequences it might bring. So she did what she always does when it comes to her problems; she ran away from them.

"Elena!!" Arya whined while jumping on Elena's bed, trying to make her get up. She had already missed breakfast, Elena just didn't get out of bed no matter what the servants tried.

"It's time for our sword lessons!" Arya whined and tore the sheets away from Elena.

"Just one more minute." Elena groaned and hugged her knees tightly to her chest. She sighed deeply still with her eyes closed, not wanted to get up at all. Getting up would mean walking through the castle and walking through the castle would mean having the chance of seeing Robb, where Elena wasn't ready for after he had kissed her the day before.

"Can we not cancel this one lesson?" Elena huffed and stared at the wall in front of her, trying to get the thought of Robb's lips on hers out of her mind. Her lips still tingled at the thought. "I really don't want to get out of bed."

"Elena!" Arya whined even harder than before and pulled at Elena's arms. "please!"

"I will call Robb to carry you outside if you don't get up." Arya pouted and crossed her arms before her chest. Little did she know about what happened between Elena and her brother.

"Oh, no you wouldn't." Elena's eyes snapped open and she sat up straight immediately, looking at Arya who was sitting on the edge of her bed.

"I would." Arya stated and lifted her little chin.

"Fine!" Elena groaned and got up, making Arya cheer in victory. Soon Elena was dressed in her usual light blue dress, this time her hair was loose though, she didn't have the will to do anything with it.

The two girls walked outside towards their usual training spot in the midst of the Godswood of Winterfell. When they first walked through the castle Elena would look around every corner before stepping into the hall, afraid that she might come across Robb.

"Why don't you get warmed up first?" Elena ordered and sat down on the ground. Arya immediately began with some usual exercises with her wooden sword.

"You allright?" Jon arrived at the spot, he knew he would always find them here. he sat down next to Elena who looked grim. "You weren't at breakfast this morning."

"I'm fine, I wasn't hungry." Elena said, she wanted to tell Jon what happened the day before but she knew that wasn't a great plan. Jon would know that it was forbidden, he would have to hold a secret back from his father. Elena didn't want to ruin Jon's already fragile relationship with Eddard.

Elena had promised Ned that she would only have friendly relationships with his family, no intimidate relations whatsoever. This way she would be able to protect Eddard's children equally.

She broke that promise by letting Robb kiss her. She broke it by falling for his eldest son, something nobody had ever expected her to do. The worst part of it all was that she knew she wouldn't be able to put aside her feelings for him, no matter what would happen.

"Not hungry? There must be something absolutely terrible going on, you adore eating and everything that is connected to food." Jon chuckled and playfully shoved Elena.

He them noticed the grim look on her face, making his tone soft and gentle. Jon's eyes bore into Elena's. "Seriously, Elena. What's going on?"

"It's nothing." Elena shook her head and refused to tell him but she couldn't stop the tears from falling from her eyes or the whimpers falling from her lips.

"Hush, now." Jon sighed and pulled Elena to his chest. Arya looked up, stopping her exercises when she heard Elena's sobs. She looked at Jon, concerned over her friend. He shook his head, silently telling Arya to leave. Jon didn't want Arya to have any more secrets or rivals against her father.

"What's going on?" Jon asked softly while stroking Elena's hair when Arya was gone, his voice laced with concern as he held Elena tightly against him.

"He kissed me." Elena sobbed and tightly grasped Jon's vest in her hands. "Robb kissed me and I didn't stop him."

"Sssh." Jon whispered and sighed, closing his eyes. He knew what it meant, he knew what promise Elena had made to his father. Jon also knew that Robb had taken a liking for the Guardian for a while now.

"I promised him, Jon." Elena sobbed. "and I broke that promise without a second thought."

"I know." Jon sighed while holding Elena. "I know." He repeated and closed his eyes.

"What am I going to do?" Elena whimpered and crawled closer against Jon. "I'm leaving with them tomorrow, how can I avoid Robb then?"

"I don't know." Jon sighed deeply at the thought. He knew how hard this was for Elena, Eddard had saved her life but she couldn't even keep one simple promise in return. Now she will have to leave with him and his son she had fallen for on a travel that would take a month or more.

"How could I let him do it?" Elena whimpered, feeling guilty about kissing Robb back. She should've pushed him away in the instant that he touched her.

"Because you love him." Jon simply stated and stared at a tree before him. He had noticed the looks that were exchanged between Robb and Elena during breakfast and dinner. Elena would always tell Jon how much she hated the lessons with Robb, how much she despised being with the Stark. Jon would always see past the lie though, he could see the fear in Elena's eyes, desperate for her lies to be true.

Elena sighed, her tears had stopped falling down and her breath was back to normal. She untangled herself from Jon and looked up at him.

"I know." Elena looked down at her hands. "I wish that I don't but I can't stop it."

Jon just simply sadly smiled at Elena.

"What the hell happened here?" Gillian's voice suddenly filled the area. He looked at the dried tears on Elena's face and the concern on Jon's. "I arrived at the wrong time again, didn't I?"

"It's fine." Elena chuckled softly and got up, hiding the sorrow from Gillian. In some way he always made her smile, maybe it was just the way his dark brown eyes were always filled with joy.

"Anyway..." Gillian began and his signature smile appeared back on his handsome face. Elena noticed a doll in his hands, he was holding it tightly. "We're going to the orphanage since this is possibly the last time you can before you're leaving with little princess Stark."

"Princess Stark..." Jon chuckled and shook his head, making Gillian smirk at him.

"Sure, let's go." Elena sighed and smiled at Gillian. This way she'd be able to avoid Robb for a little while longer.

~

Elena was standing atop of the wall, looking down on the other side, waiting for the Wildlings to attack. Jon had told her they'd light the biggest fire the North had ever seen, Elena was waiting for just a little spark so she could warn the others.

It was already night, the whole day she had avoided Robb. Deep down Elena knew it didn't help anything at all but she just wasn't ready to see him yet.

She decided that she'd just stand here, watching the forest. If Robb was to come atop of the wall, she wouldn't run. She would face him even though she was afraid.

So when Elena heard heavy footsteps behind her, her body tensed. In some way she knew that it was Robb, maybe it was her guardian instinct or maybe it was just the way he walked.

Elena held in her breath when he walked closer after he had stopped for a while. Robb walked to her side, coming to a halt right next to her.

He stared down the wall without saying a word. The fact that they were standing right near the edge didn't ease Elena's fear. After a few moments Elena could feel Robb's gaze on her, his eyes burning into the side of her face.

"This must've been the first time you didn't run away from me during an fight, my lady." Robb said while still looking at her, no emotion shown on his features.

"I guess I've changed quite a bit since the last time, your grace." Elena smiled sadly and turned her head to look at Robb. When she saw his emotionless face she sighed deeply and looked back at her hands.

"Don't ever leave me like that again." Robb growled, his voice deep and husky.

"It was for your own safety." Elena stated simply, nevertheless her body was shivering in fear after she had heard the anger in Robb's voice.

Suddenly Robb tightly grasped both Elena's shoulders and turned her to look at him, his eyes burning into hers.

"I don't care about my safety, Elena. Not anymore." He suddenly sounded concerned but furious while he looked deep into Elena's eyes. "Don't you know how damn worried I was when you didn't come back?!"

"I'm sorry." Elena whispered and looked down at Robb's chest, her finger fiddling with the armour.

"Damn you, Elena." Robb growled but suddenly pulled Elena towards him, smashing his lips against hers harshly. He pulled her closer by her waist, the warmth of his hands sending shivers down her spine. Elena waved both her hands through Robb's curly hair and pulled him closer.

Just as fast as the kiss started, it ended. Robb sighed deeply when he broke the kiss and put his forehead against Elena's, his hands still on her waist while they were both catching their breaths.

"I love you." Robb whispered as he stroked Elena's hair away from her face. Her eyes shot up to meet his again, this was only the seconds time in their lives that he'd said those two words yet he didn't hesitate to say them.

"I love you." Elena confirmed and smiled sadly, closing her eyes to enjoy the feeling of Robb's arms around her. He did the same as he sighed deeply.

"I hate to interrupt you two lovebirds, but I think we have a problem." Damon spoke up in Elena's mind, making her untangle herself from Robb's warm embrance.

"What is it?" Elena asked Damon mentally while Robb confussionally looked at her.

"Look at the other side." Damon responded.

Elena did and as soon as she saw it, she took in a deep breath. Robb followed her gaze and stood next to her as he also sighed deeply.

"That's one big fire." Robb stated simply as he looked at the burning forest, the wildlings army appearing from the shadows. Elena took Robb's hand in hers and squeezed it, fear filling her at the sight of the giants and their mammoths.

Jon ran towards Robb and Elena and stood next to them. He looked down at the army, knowing that he'd have to slay them all no matter how he felt about it. Jon grasped his sword Longclaw tightly in his hands.

"I wish Gillian was here to fight with us." Jon sighed deeply, still not over the fact that he had lost his best friend.

"Me too." Elena sadly smiled at Jon and also took his hand, she was standing between the King and a man of the night's watch, holding both their hands in anticipation.

"Are you guys with me?" Steven spoke mentally to all the Guardians who were standing on the wall. They could all see each other, ten feet between every Guardian on the Wall.

"Aye, captain." Louis spoke, he was standing on the far left. Next to him stood Aidan, then came Damon, Steven, Elena and then Santana.

Elena looked up at Robb who also looked at her. He gave her an encouraging smile while squeezing her hand, pulling her closer against him.

Steven spoke up again, talking to all the Guardians mentally. "Good, let's finish these invaders together, as a team."

author's note

Hellooo there. Extra long and early updated chapter for you guys, even though we didn't reach the vote goal on last chapter I really wanted to share this chapter with you as fast as possible.

Next chapter the battle at the Wall will take place, so if you haven't seen episode 10 of season 4 yet there will be huge spoilers, read at your own risk!

I also wanted to ask you guys a question, so far, which guardian is your favorite? I know I haven't described the other guardians much but I just really wanted to know how you think of them so far ^^. Also, do you want Elena and Robb to do the dirty? xd Because maybe I'd let them, I mean, it's game of thrones and I have to keep certain elements in it to make it look like the serie, which also contains sex, obiously ^^. So I also want your guys opinion on that.

For next chapter I will take a random someone from the people who voted on this chapter to dedicate the next one to. So go on and vote! Last one had 7 votes so lets get that back up to 10!

That's it for this chapter, thank you guys for 6k reads and see you next chapter!

(So for some sort of reason wattpad decided to cut this chapter off at the beginning of this author's note. That's why I updated this again because, dammit wattpad, you've deleted my author's note. Also wattpad deletes all the pictures that I stick to the chapters, on my Phone I can see the picture but when I upload the chapter it's gone. So when something gets cut off midsentence again, please tell me so I can correct it later.)
