Remember me

"Let the light guide you away, hold every memory as you go. Every road you take, will always take you home." - See you again by Whiz Kalifa.

"Please don't." Elena breathed out as she pressed her eyes shut. She could feel the warmth of the fire that was burning around her. For the first time it actually burned her skin, the sensation almost too painful.

"Elena." Gillian whispered. Another sob found its way out of her, her breath hitching in her throat, struggling to breathe. "Look at me."

"Stop, please." Elena cried out and bawled her hands into fists, the pain filling her entire body. She forced herself to look at him because she was the one to put him there in the first place. It was in a way a punishment for her, for the fact that she failed yet another person.

Gillian looked at her, his eyes were filled with hatred and disgust. "You could have saved me." He spit out. Then Elena saw it happen all over again, the sword piercing his chest, him falling to the ground and the hopelessness in his eyes when she was holding him.

~

"Nooo!!" Elena screamed and almost jumped awake, her sobs shaking her entire body as she struggled to breathe.

"My lady?" one of the guards rushed into her tent. He stood there in the entrance, looking at her while he contemplated on what to do. He seemed utterly lost there.

Elena almost jumped out of her bed and ran outside to see if Gillian was still there. After all, it could've all been a nightmare. The fact that her arms were covered in cuts though made her realize that it wasn't true. She let out a soft whine of despair when she stepped into the sunlight, seeing the camp around her. Above all she saw the soldiers, all looking tired and defeated.

"My lady?" One of them stepped towards her, his arm slightly raised to reach out to her. He hesitated when he looked at her, noticing that she was only wearing a gown. "Are you allright?" He asked worriedly, his eyebrows scrunching together in concern.

His touch though only scared her, sending her dashing away from him and everyone else's curious gazes. Elena kept on running on her bare feet, her legs carrying her towards Dreadfort that was located right beside the camp. Several soldiers tried to stop her but she either pushed them away or froze their feet to the ground so they couldn't chase her.

Elena arrived, she saw the castle burned, everything had fallen apart in a dark burned mess, burying all the dead.

"No." Elena sobbed and fell to the ground, everything was coming back to her, the whole battle popping into her memories.

"Please no." The wind was gathering, blowing harder each second, ice was covering the ground around Elena, still growing bigger. The trees whined, branches and leaves blowing off. Elena's hands gripped the ground tightly, the earth getting under her nails. She sobbed so hard that her whole body shook with each one. The pain was filling every part of her as tears streamed down her face.

"Elena." A soft voice said behind her. He sat down next to her, pulling her body against his chest, his warm hand on her cheek while the other was rubbing circles on her back.

"It's going to be okay." Robb whispered in her ears. He felt the sobs wrecking her body. After a week he still wasn't prepared for this moment. He knew she'd wake up sometime but he just couldn't ever bear to see her like this, let alone prepare for it.

"He's dead." Elena sobbed uncontrollably while clutching onto Robb's shirt. "He's dead and it's all my fault."

"No you didn't. It's not your fault." Robb whispered softly and kissed the top of her head. He saw her hands which were covered with ice, the skin blue and cold. In her hair were tiny snowflakes and around them there was also a thin layer covering the ground. The circle was getting bigger and bigger with each moment while the wind was growing stronger. The trees creaked, their roots already giving up.

"Sssh, calm down, it's going to be alright." Robb said, his worried eyes looking around. Several trees fell down, their roots reaching above ground. He could feel the cold while also his skin was freezing.

"Elena, please, I'm here." Robb clutched onto Elena's body. He could feel the power radiating from her ice cold skin.

"He let him die." Elena heard a voice in her head, her eyes opening in surprise. "You know how much he's always hated him."

Please stop. Elena thought, she knew it was him. She also knew he was right, how couldn't he be? Robb had always hated Gillian, during the battle was the best time to get rid of him.

"He has always wanted you for himself, Gillian was only an obstacle he needed to get rid off."

"Elena? Please, calm down." Robb yelled over the noise of the wind and the trees creaking. It was starting to rain and lightning filled the sky.

"Listen to him, he only cares about himself. He's the reason Caitlyn, Rickon and Bran died, only because he left you for that foreigner."

Elena's breath came out fast and ragged, the words of the dark One making her furious. Everything he said was true. Robb only cared about himself, at least, so Elena though that moment.

"Elena?!" Robb tried to protect Elena from the storm by pulling her under his body, shielding her from the branches that were flying through the air.

"Get off of me!!" Elena yelled and pushed him away, his body falling to the ground. Her eyes were like fire, her hands were feeling like they were burning.

Robb looked up at her, his eyes filled with disbelief and sorrow. "Elena, I'm sorry." He whispered while tears were forming in his eyes. When he saw Elena there, he saw the broken little girl he found at the kingsroad again. Just like then her eyes were completely and utterly desperate, filled with a sense of loss. They told him so much that it was almost unbearable.

"No you're not. He's dead, Robb. Isn't that what you always wanted?" Elena hissed. She stepped towards him, her body towering over him.

"Kill him. Just like he killed the others." The voice spoke up again in Elena's head. She took her dagger out of its hold and raised it at Robb, his eyes opening in surprise when he saw the shining metal.

"Elena." Robb spoke, his deep voice low. "Please think, I know you're broken and I know you're confused. Just don't do anything you will regret." He pleaded, only raising his hands in defense. Robb would never again raise a sword at Elena. He would never hurt her, not even when his life depended on it.

When she didn't back down Robb got on his knees before her. "I'm sorry Elena. I truly am. Just let me help you, please. We can get through this together." He pleaded with her.

Just then Elena realized what she was doing. Just then she realized that The Dark One had been playing with her mind now that it was vulnerable. Elena dropped the knife with a gasp while she took a few steps back.

"What's happening to me?" she stuttered while looking at Robb, pleading him to forgive her.

"It's alright." He slowly walked towards her, his hands still raised before him. The storm died down and the ice was melting. Robb pulled Elena into a hug, one hand on the back of her head while the other was rubbing circles on her back. "Everything's going to be all right."

~

"So you're just going to leave me here?" Elena said while crushing the leaves she picked up from the ground in her hand.

"You know I can't stay here. Caitlyn hates me and I will never be a Stark. The Night's watch is where I'm meant to go." Jon replied, looking at Elena from the corner of his eyes.

"You are a Stark Jon, you have your fathers blood." Elena said, desperate for Jon to stay. She couldn't lose her best friend, otherwise she would be all alone in Winterfell.

"If only more people saw it that way." Jon chuckled while shaking his head. "You could come with me."

"You know I can't. The only reason I'm still alive is because your father needs me to protect his family. I can't abandon everyone here."

"Or we could just take everyone with us." Jon snickered at the thought.

"Sansa in Castle Black? I don't think she'll be willing to go, they don't have lemon cakes there, do they?" Elena and Jon both chuckled.

"Come here!!" someone yelled far away from where Jon and Elena were. Their heads shot up at the sudden sound, their eyebrows raising.

"Give it back you cunt!!" The yelling came closed, Jon and Elena could hear people running in their direction.

"I'm going to kill you!" The same man yelled. it was only several feet away from where Jon and Elena were. They both stood up and took their weapons, staring into the bushes to see who was coming.

Suddenly a guy from around the same age as Elena came rushing out of the bushes, leaves in his dark brown hair while an huge smile was covering his face. "Hello there." He smiled even though Elena and Jon had raised their weapons. "Lovely weather, isn't it?"

Elena and Jon exchanged confused glances, noticing the jumpy behaviour of the stranger in front of them. Even though his posture told them otherwise, his expression was completely relaxed and even a bit bold.

"Where are you?!" A man yelled again, also coming closer. You could even hear his furious steps from ten feet away.

"I think I'm just going to hide behind you two." The lad said and jumped behind Elena's back, his eyes peeking over her shoulder.

"You nasty little-" A middle aged grumpy looking man jumped out of the bushes while furiously pushing the branches away. "What in the seven hells... Give him to me." The old man said while pointing at the lad behind Elena who had her bow raised and an arrow ready to fire.

"Why?" Elena questioned. Right now she felt more sympathy for the lad than for the old man since he was fat and... well, not very nice looking.

"Yeah why old man?" The lad behind Elena snickered.

"You little bastard-" The old man stopped with his tirade when Jon took a deep breath and raised his sword at him. The old man decided to just reason with Elena and Jon since they were obviously against him and way much stronger.

"He stole my beer." The old man narrowed his eyes when the lad lazily leaned against a tree behind Elena.

"It's not like you need it anyway." The lad chuckled while playing with his knife. He had a weird accent, but Elena found it attractive nonetheless.

"By the seven gods I'm going to rip your fucking guts out and put them in-" the old man began to shout again until Jon again interrupted him by raising his sword threatingly.

"Turn around and go home." He demanded. If the man had not called the lad bastard, maybe then Jon would've been just but now he only hated the man.

"You're going to regret this, boy." The man pointed at Jon, his eyes narrowing threatingly.

Elena strengthened her grip on the bow, making the man leave.

"Thank you, strangers, for saving me from that beast. I am eternally grateful. Even though I'd love to chat with you lovely people, there are some most important matters I have to attend to. I have to go now-" The lad turned in the opposite direction of the man and made an attempt to walk away.

"Not so fast." Jon sighed and turned around towards him. "What did you steal besides the beer?"

"Nothing, I really need to-"

"What did you steal?" Jon repeated and pointed at the bag which the lad was holding.

The lad sighed and threw the bag at Jon, who caught it and looked inside it. "Food and... clothes?" Jon said, he had expected something different.

"Why are you stealing this?" Jon scanned the lad, he didn't look poor, he looked like a highborn.

"For the orphanage." The lad sighed and looked down. Jon looked at Elena, who was looking if the lad was lying. She had always found it pretty useful that she could tell if someone was lying, maybe it was the only thing she liked about being a guardian.

"He's telling the truth." Elena stated and gave the bag back, smiling at the lad. "My name is Elena."

He bowed before her elegantly, taking her hand and placing a playful kiss on the top of it. He then looked at her boldly with a smirk playing on his lips. "And my name is Gillian."
