Not dead yet

"Gillian?"

A few moments passed by as Elena was just standing there, staring at his eyes. Wondering if she was dreaming or even hallucinating. The last one seemed like the most logical option considering her mind wasn't in a very good state.

"How do you know my name?" Gillian frowned as he slowly stood up on his feet. His eyes flickered between Elena and the guards that were running towards him.

The look in her eyes, that forest green, it made something stir in his mind. There were no memories though, nothing came back to him. Still everything before the resurrection was a blur.

Elena took in a deep breath, trying to keep the tears inside. He was real. There was no chance that there was another man named Gillian with the exact same appearance and the exact same voice. He was alive.

"Elena, I can explain all this." Steven laid his hand atop of her shoulder.

Pushing the hand off of her Elena slowly walked towards Gillian while signalling the guards to stand still all without making a sound.

"Who are you?" Gillian's voice shook with fear while he paced backwards, his hands raised in surrender.

"Elena, please get back inside." Steven begged and walked towards her. He was afraid of what might happen. Afraid that she might break down and let the darkness inside.

But when Elena watched him closely, the way he moved, the way he looked, she knew that it may be Gillian but not the one she used to know. He was still dead, only his body was moving. Whether or not his mind and soul were still there, Elena did not know.

So Elena lowered her hand, signalling for the guards to take the man before her. There must've been a reason for them to lock him up, Elena didn't want Gillian to get himself in even more trouble before she could figure out how to help him. She closed her eyes as she let a single tear escape from her them.

"Wait!" Gillian screamed and pushed the guards away from him. Elena opened her eyes again and looked up at him, knowing he was talking to her.

"You knew me, didn't you? You knew me before I died?" Gillian spoke quickly, his words rushed out. "Look, I don't know what's happening to me. I don't even know how that woman brought me back but..." Gillian sighed deeply and pushed another of the guards away when he tried to grasp him. "You have to help me." Gillian practically begged. "I... I, I feel like something is slowly getting into my head and I can't stop it."

It seemed surprisingly familiar to Elena, that feeling, like any moment something would break into her mind to shut off who she was. Elena sighed and looked back at Steven. She saw the look in his eyes and knew that this was common when someone got resurrected.

"He will change." Steven muttered. "He won't be in control of his mind anymore."

Elena nodded, sighing as she looked back at Gillian. "I'm sorry." She whispered. "But I can't help you."

"What?" The guards grasped his arms and put his hands in chains. But Gillian's eyes never took a glance at them, he was looking straight into Elena's. Like he was burning a hole into her soul.

"No, wait!" He protested and tried to get out of the grasp he was being held in. "You're Elena, right?!"

Gillian pleadingly looked into her eyes. "You knew me well, didn't you?" He said when he saw a tear running down her cheek. "You have to at least give me chance!"

"Elena..." Steven whispered behind her when he noticed the hesitation in her. "Don't do this."

"Look, all I remember is one sentence, just one. It keeps on echoing through my head like an alarm." Gillian said knowing he had captivated Elena's attention. He took a moment to continue, taking in a deep breath while looking straight at her. "Don't ever give up."

"Let him go." Elena said immediately, her voice stern.

"Who are you to give us orders?" One of the guards frowned while taking her in. Elena took in a deep breath. With all that was happening, her head was hurting and her mind close to exploding.

"I am your king's guardian, I am the one who killed Tywin's army at the Twins, I am the one who saved your arse back at the Red Wedding and I am the daughter of Aegon Targaryen. I am the blood of the dragon." Elena hissed, all of the stress coming out in anger as she slowly walked towards the guard. "So you'll either let that man go or you'll get a taste of my wrath."

"And believe me, -" she chuckled lowly as she narrowed her eyes at him, clenching her fist as fire was licking her skin. "You don't want that to happen."

"So you're saying that it wasn't all your fault, that Ethan killed mother and Felicity?" Abigail frowned as she looked at her father who was sitting beside her in her cell.

"Yes." Damon nodded and swallowed the lump that was growing in his throat.

"How can I know that you're telling the truth?" Abigail asked. She wanted to believe him, to think that her own father wasn't her mother's killer. After so many years though of thinking that he was, she wasn't sure if she could ever learn to trust him again.

"You can't." Damon looked up at her green eyes. "I can't force you to. All I can do is show you."

"I'm not sure if I can ever see you as my father again. Not after all these years off hating you. I don't even know who you are." Abigail frowned and looked down.

"I know." Damon whispered and softly laid his hand atop of hers. He bit on his lips, unsure of what to say. It wasn't in his character to play nice to people, to try and make them like him. He usually ended up making sarcastic remarks and insults that made them hate him. Now though, he knew he couldn't let that happen. This was his daughter who was in need of his support, in need of a father. Maybe it wasn't in his character to be a dad but he could at least try.

"I just wanted to tell you how proud I am to see who you've become. You look a lot like your mother, you have her eyes."

Abigail sadly smiled and nodded. "I don't remember anything about her. It has been so long since I've last seen her face, heard her voice. I never had the chance to get to know her."

"She was fierce, strong, unlike any other women I knew. She never gave up." Damon told her. "Other than that, she was normal. She lived a simple life with simple people. It was a plain but beautiful life she lived and she adored every second of it."

"That sounds awfully boring." Abigail chuckled. Damon joined her, smiling vaguely.

"I needed boring. My life got a little hectic sometimes but she always seemed to calm me down, make me laugh. That's what I loved most about your mother."

"She would've been proud of you." Damon smiled as he laid his hand on his daughter's shoulder.

"No, Elena! Wait-" Steven's voice rang through the dungeons, footsteps coming closer quickly. Damon frowned and stood up, knowing that this meant trouble. Steve never yelled like that, unless something was truly wrong.

"Damon!" Elena barged into the cell, the door almost breaking when she pushed it open. She looked at Damon, opened her mouth to say something but then her eyes focused on Abigail, recognizing her. She closed her mouth and her first sad expression turned into one of pure anger.

"You bastard-" Elena yelled and ran towards her, jumping at her and grasping her throat. The two fell down on the ground with Elena on top, her legs trapping Abigail under her.

"What the-" Abigail's eyes widened, her hands grasping at Elena's when her grip tightened around her neck. She looked up and saw only black in her eyes, only hatred.

When Abigail almost suffocated, hands wrapped around Elena's body and pulled her off of Abigail and pushed her body against the wall. Elena let out a yelp when her body connected with the wall, previously healed wounds reopened and bones cracked.

"What is wrong with you?!" Damon yelled and pinned both her hands on the wall on either side of her head.

"She works with The Dark One you idiot!" Elena protested and tried to get out of his grasp, kicking and trashing. "I saw her with Ramsay and him in the courtyard, she worked for him!"

Elena kicked Damon in the nuts and pushed him off of her, immediately running towards Abigail again. She aimed at her with her hands, fire forming in the palms of them. She fired and missed Abigail for she jumped out of her range.

"Wait!" Abigail raised her hands in surrender when she fell down to the ground, knowing she couldn't possibly dodge the next attack. Nevertheless Elena aimed again without hesitation.

"Stop it!" Damon yelled when he had recovered and jumped at her just in time before Elena could fire at Abigail.

"Damon?!" Steven entered the cell and saw the chaos, Damon trying to calm Elena down by holding her against the ground and a scared looking Abigail crouched against the wall.

"Get off of me!" Elena yelled and blasted Damon's body away. He flew up and hit the ceiling, a loud thump filling their ears.

"Elena, please just think for a moment-" Steven stood before Abigail's body, holding his hands up in surrender.

"She works with the Dark One you fool!" Elena yelled and blasted Steven away, his body crashing against the wall and then falling onto the floor in a lifeless mess.

Elena aimed at Abigail again, her eyes narrowing at her. "She's our enemy." She growled.

"SHE'S MY DAUGHTER!" Damon yelled.

Suddenly everyone stopped moving. Only the sound of Damon's heavy breathing filled the cell. Elena slowly turned her head to look at him, her eyes widened in surprise.

"She is my daughter." Damon repeated. Elena looked back at Abigail, seeing the resemblance between him and her. But she didn't lower her hand.

"I know you're confused." Damon whispered. "So am I. But she is my daughter and I won't let you kill her."

Elena frowned, her hand shivering and shaking. She saw the fear in Abigail's eyes but most of all she saw Steven's lifeless body in the corner of the cell.

"Lower your hand, Elena." Damon ordered.

"I can't." Elena bit in her lip, trying as hard as she could. All she saw when she looked into Abigail's eyes was the cell and Ramsay.

"I'm sorry for this." Elena heard Damon whisper. The next thing she knew something collided with her head, her vision going dark.

There were so many letters laying on the table. Too many letters for him to read on his own. He hadn't thought about what responsibilities he would get when he became the new Lord Commander but now he did. Not that it was his choice to become one, it was all Sam's idea. Now he had to deal with the consequences that it brought.

Being the Lord Commander had also been a great opportunity for Jon. He finally had the chance to do something great, to help people who normally wouldn't be helped. He knew that he was the only one who could do something about it. So he did. A few weeks back he left for Hardhome were most of the Wildlings took refuge after the battle of the Wall. There Jon convinced most of them to leave with him, to pass the Wall and take refuge behind it.

Jon Snow wasn't very happy with the results. He was tired from the battle at Hardhome, tired off all the comments he received about him wanting to save the wildlings. The men at the night's watch didn't like him that much anymore, that he knew.

Jon sighed deeply and pushed on his forehead with his fingers. He didn't regret saving those wildlings. Especially not after seeing the army of the dead. There were so many white walkers and they grew in numbers every day. Whilst his brother and Elena were fighting a war against men he was trying to save the whole world from the growing threat. It was an impossible task but he at least had to try.

The look of the wild walker's ice gold eyes still send shivers running down Jon's spine. It had been ice cold that day, like something was trying to choke him slowly. So many people had died, people he could've saved if he had only come sooner. If he had only convinced his men to save the wildlings instead of fighting them before all of this.

"Lord Commander!" Olly barged into the room.

"What is it Olly?" Jon sighed as he leaned back in his chair.

"It's one of the wildlings you brought back. Said he knows your uncle Benjen, says he's still alive." Olly said quickly.

"Are you sure he's talking about Benjen?!" Jon immediately stood up, leaning his hands on the table.

"Said he was first ranger." Olly added.

Without second thought as to how this was even possible Jon immediately stood up and followed Olly out and into the courtyard. His uncle, alive. This was the news Jon had been waiting for ever since his uncle had left.

"Said he knows where to find him." Olly continued.

With the nerves wrecking his belly Jon walked across the courtyard. "Where is he?" Jon asked when Ser Alliser walked towards him.

"Over there." Ser Alliser said and pointed at the group of men that had gathered around the corner.

Jon pushed everyone aside, aiming for the corner. He didn't give a second thought to the silence that was taking over the courtyard. Jon didn't notice how the men were looking at him.

When he saw the cross in the corner with the word engraved in it though, he knew it was too late. He sighed deeply, knowing he could've seen this coming. At least he had succeeded in saving those Wildlings. All Jon regretted was that he couldn't see his brother's and Sansa's faces before his death, that he couldn't hear Arya's laugh or couldn't see Elena's smile. Jon Snow turned around to look at his men whilst the word echoed through his head.

Author's note

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm so sorry that I had to end the first chapter of this year with that part. Ugh, I had to rewatch the entire last episode to write that part. Believe me when I say that I cried like a baby.

Anyway, as you may know, this story has followed the entire plotline of season 5 up till here. So that means that Daenerys is also lost somewhere in the middle of the red waste just like in the series, Tyrion is in Meereen bla bla bla bla. The only difference is with Sansa, Robb and Stannis (who should've been dead now but I let him live). Just to clear all of that up.

So yeah, Damon is being a bit of an overprotective daddy. Not that it's not understandable, I mean, badass Elena is coming to town.

That's it for this chapter, happy New Year, and see you next one!
