Escape

"I'm already gone." Elena whispered, looking at Sansa. Her head began to hurt extremely, her hands flying up to hold it and try to ease the pain.

"Elena?" Sansa panicked, grasping for Elena's shoulders to make her look up at her again. Elena's eyes were fully black, even the white was dark.

Sansa shrieked and fell backwards, crawling away from Elena's protesting and screaming body. Sansa's heart thumped wildly and her eyes were widened. She didn't know what the hell was happening, she didn't even know for sure if it was even happening. She started to doubt her own sanity after seeing the black in Elena's eyes.

"Elena?!" Someone landed right in front of Sansa, ignoring her completely as he bowed down next to Elena's squirming body. It looked like she was fighting against something that wasn't actually there.

"Who are you?!" Sansa yelled, grasping the first object in her reach to defend herself. She stood up on her feet and held the rock in the air.

"A friend." Aidan said curtly after glancing at Sansa and turned towards Elena again. He laid his hand against her cheek whilst the other pushed her shoulder down to the ground.

"Elena, listen to me." Aidan said clearly. "You can't let it in. You can't give up now. I know everything seems lost, I know that this seems like a simple way out of everything. But you've got to fight it."

Sansa calmed down slowly, lowering her hand with the rock and stepping towards Aidan.

"Elena, listen to me. Concentrate on my voice." Aidan continued and looked up at Sansa when she sat down on the other side of Elena's squirming body. "Don't let anything inside except for my voice. Listen to me carefully. It will try to enter your mind and when it does, you won't be able to put it out. It will control you forever just like it controls your brother. You can't let that happen, not now. Robb is here and he believes in you, you can't let him down."

Aidan looked up at Sansa hopelessly when Elena continued to whimper and protest, her eyes still pitch black. Aidan mouthed help me at Sansa.

"Elena?" Sansa started, her voice shaking in doubt. "I don't know what's happening to you and I don't know what to do."

Sansa swallowed the lump that was growing in her throat when she looked at Elena. "You were always there for me when I was angry or afraid. I want to do the same for you, if you let me."

Aidan nodded at Sansa, ensuring her that she was doing well. They both noticed that Elena's protests had become somewhat weaker and her breath steadier.

"Remember that one time when Arya and I were in a fight again, that time that I was so angry that I ran into the woods on my own?" Sansa said, softly stroking Elena's bloody hair out of her face. "You followed me in there, you sat down beside me when you found me. We had never really talked to each other, we didn't' know one another very well. Nevertheless you took me into your arms and stroked my hair whispering that you'll always be there for me."

"When I didn't want to return, you took me to the stream you always talked about. We swam together the rest of the day after you had finally convinced me to just jump into the water. You helped me forget all of the troubles at home, remember? And when we came home all soaked and wet, my father only looked at us. Do you still remember what he did?" Sansa smiled, Elena's body was calmer than before. Now she was only moving slightly as a small whimper sometimes fell off her lips. "He laughed it off and so did we. Ever since then we'd go to that stream every week. You and me together, with no one else. We called it our girl's day."

"Sansa." Elena whispered as she closed her eyes, her body finally stopping the protests. She breathed in deeply and opened her eyes, the green back in them.

"Seven hells, Elena." Aidan groaned and helped her get up on her butt. "Don't ever do that again, you hear me? Don't ever try to cast fire again, ever."

"Aidan." Elena grasped his shoulders and forced him to look at her. "Get Sansa out of here."

"What?" Sansa protested. "What about you?"

"Robb commanded us to get you to safety." Aidan frowned, knowing he wouldn't be able to carry more than one human with him.

"And I'm telling you otherwise." Elena narrowed her eyes at him. "She's your king' sister and more important than some random guardian. Get. Her. Out. Of. Here."

"Steven is also looking for you." Aidan said as he stood up and grasped Sansa's waist.

"What are you doing?!" Sansa yelled and protested, trying to swat his hands away.

"Just stay here and he will find you." Aidan said and then unwrapped his wings, diving off the wall while holding Sansa. She shrieked and yelled loudly, she didn't like heights.

"Not a chance." Elena sighed and got up. She shuffled towards the edge of the wall, her arms shaking as they grasped the cold hard stone. She saw Robb's and Stannis's army down there, fighting in the courtyard.

When Elena didn't see any of the kings, she started to doubt if they even existed. Maybe she had made them up in her mind to keep herself sane during her imprisonment. Elena sighed deeply, closing her eyes as her feet were standing on the very edge.

The darkness that was trying to get inside told her to jump. To end it all for once and for all. Just one tiny step and everything would disappear. The thought of having wings to protect people was like the thought of unicorns to Elena then. She didn't believe she had ever even earned them.

Her feet shuffled just a tiny but further towards the edge. Before she knew it, Elena was falling down with her eyes closed.

"Never give up." Gillian's voice echoed through her head again. "Never. Promise me, Elena."

Her eyes snapped open immediately as did her wings, opening and guiding her body back up in the air at an unthinkable speed. The wind rushed through her silver hair, the cold and bitter air biting her skin.

She was free, she was finally free. She tasted the sweet freedom, the wind rushing though her hair and the snow falling on her large wings. Her eyes found the forest, her body guiding her there immediately.

She was too weak to fight. She knew that. Nevertheless there was one thing left for her to do.

"How many time must we do this, brother?" Ethan chuckled, circling around Damon who was lying on the cold ground again. There was a sword pierced through his chest.

"Until you're defeated." Damon sighed. He groaned as he shifted his body, the pain shooting through his head. When he saw The Dark One turn around his hand reached for his pockets, feeling the wooden doll beneath the cloth.

"I must say, I do admire your commitment." The Dark One chuckled and turned towards Damon again. "It makes it so much more fun to torture you."

Damon sighed, his hand reaching inside his pocket. He knew Ethan wouldn't even take the effort to see if Damon was grasping a weapon, he was way too arrogant for that.

"Our sister, on the other hand." Ethan sighed and then chuckled, shaking his head while still pacing before Damon's body. "She's so easy to torture. You only have to take one of her friends and hurt him."

Damon remained silent, his fingers enveloping the wooden doll in his pocket. His eyes narrowed at his brother as he gathered all the strength he had left.

"Maybe that'll work with you too." The Dark One shrugged as he leaned against a tree with his arms crossed before his chest. He raised an eyebrow at his brother when he continued to glare at him from the pool of blood on the ground.

"You're awfully quiet, dear brother, what is wrong with you?" The Dark One frowned and looked as Damon slowly raised on his feet again, one of his hands behind his back.

"What, can't handle a single stab of a sword?" The Dark One chuckled.

"I'm sorry, brother." Damon sighed and closed his eyes, his grip around the doll tightening.

"You don't have to apologize to me." The Dark One laughed but then frowned, eyeing Damon curiously. He knew something was wrong after Damon called him brother.

"I can't let you kill anyone ever again." Damon opened his eyes again and looked at his brother's green ones.

"What?" The Dark One frowned and took a step towards Damon, slowly and carefully.

"Not until I've found a way to kill the darkness inside of you." Damon continued, his eyes filled with sadness. He knew that somewhere deep down in the body before him his brother was still fighting against whatever was corrupting his mind.

"Damon-" the Dark One's eyes widened and he lifted his hand to blast his brother away.

Only he was too late. Damon had already taken the doll out of his pockets and spoken the ancient words. After that The Dark One felt himself weaken, falling to his knees as he was sucked into the wooden doll.

"Damon!!!"

"Gillian?" Abigail heard Steven's voice echoing through the halls. A sob wrecked her body again, her throat hurting due to the endless wails.

She looked down at Louis again. His eyes were closed and his lips slightly parted. Abigail softly tucked a strand of his brown hair behind his ear, a single teardrop falling down on Louis' face as she did so.

"Trust Steven, Elena and Robb." Abigail repeated the words in her head as she slowly and carefully laid Louis back down on the ground.

"For once in your life, keep your promise." Abigail sobbed, pressing her eyes shut as she let a few more tears run down her cheeks.

"I will." Abigail whispered and then softly pressed a light kiss on his cold lips.

"Gillian?!" Steven's voice echoed through the halls again, Abigail's head shot up when she heard him. She stood up, her hand already positioned around her daggers.

Her footsteps echoed through the hallway as she ran through it towards Steven's voice. When she reached the right cell, she saw Steven standing in front of the man she had resurrected.

"I'm sorry, Gillian" Steven sighed as he took his sword out of its sheath. Abigail gasped but not loud enough for Steven to hear her. "But it's better for you to die now before you turn into someone you're not."

"Nooo!" Abigail charged towards Steven and jumped on his back, wrapping her legs around his waist as she started to try and stab him with her daggers.

"What the-" Steven threw Abigail off of him and turned towards her, his sword ready in his hand.

"You can't kill him!" Abigail shouted as she stood up from the ground.

"Do you know what will happen to him?!" Steven shouted back while pointing at Gillian's trembling body.

"I do know what will happen when you fucking stab him!" Abigail shot back, furiously stepping towards Steven.

"I've been through the same before." He lowered his voice, glaring at Abigail. "You don't know what will happen to him, to his mind. I do. And believe me when I say, you don't want to live through that."

"We can at least give it a try!" Abigail shouted desperately. She didn't know the man before her nor did she know how to persuade him.

Steven sighed and shook his head no, glancing at Gillian for a moment. "He won't be himself. He will turn into a mindless monster if we do not kill him now."

"You don't know for sure." Abigail reasoned. "Maybe resurrection will have a different effect on him, maybe he will turn into his former self again. You won't know if you just decide to kill him."

"It's too dangerous."

"Please." Abigail begged. She stared into Steven's eyes, hoping to convince him that way. "Please give him a chance."

Steven sighed and closed his eyes again when Abigail continued. "We've already lost enough today."

Elena saw the sudden light coming from behind the trees from a distance. She flew down towards the ground and when she was almost touching it, she transformed into a black panther and ran further towards the light.

She knew Damon was her brother. That way she also knew in what she could transform, a panther and a dragon. Maybe she wasn't very fond of her family but the sigils of her parents were quite useful.

The black panther sprinted further towards the light until she saw were it was coming from. Elena saw her brothers, one kneeling down while some strange kind of light was sucked out of him when the other was holding a doll.

Elena didn't have time to see who was who, she didn't have the concentration to think reasonable. She couldn't have recognized who was who eitherway, the light was blinding her eyes. So Elena did what first came into her mind.

Without stopping Elena sprinted towards the one with the doll and jumped on him with a loud growl. The light suddenly vanished, a deafening explosion filling everyone's ears. Elena and her target both fell down to the floor and rolled further until the man hit a tree with his back.

"Elena." She recognized the blue in his eyes and immediately knew she had made a mistake. She looked behind her and saw Ethan picking up the doll which Damon had dropped and within a second he was gone, vanished.

Elena transformed back into her usual form and looked back at Damon again. His eyes were widened, knowing Elena discovered the truth and just ruined his whole plan.

Damon didn't know if he was angry or just relieved to see her here. He did know that that was his last chance of capturing his brother and that Elena ruined the moment.

"What have you done?!" Damon sighed.

Author's note

Hellooo there little guardians

If you're sick of all the fighting that has been going on the last few chapters, don't worry, this was the last one about the battle of Winterfell. That doesn't mean that everyone is safe, just to let you know.

There is only one thing that was remarkable last chapter: there were only 4 votes where there's normalle 8 or 9. Is this because I let Louis die or something? Xd Eitherway, this chapter is dedicated to @Blue_Topaz because she was the one to vote last last chapter. (you might as well vote to get a dedication next one, just saying)

That's it for this chapter, see you next one!

(Btw, merry Christmas and shit. Don't know If the last one is going to be updated before it xd)
