Dead man walking

"We accept the love we think we deserve - perks of being a wallflower

"Elena? Where are you?" A voice called her name, he sounded far away. Elena opened her eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the darkness around her. She felt smaller than she was, she immediately knew she was dreaming when she felt that there were no chains around her arms or legs.

"Come on out!" A voice called. She recognized it but yet she couldn't name the man who it was. Her eyes were looking through a hole in a wooden plank, her body hidden behind it.

The girl giggled, crawling further into the hole in the wall. Her tiny arms propped her body up so she could look through the tiny hole she made where she could see through. She saw her brother on the other side of the plank, searching with a wide grin on his face.

"All right, you win." Ethan chuckled as he continued to search the room for his younger sister. He looked under one of the three beds in the tiny room and found that she wasn't there. Ethan chuckled when he heard his sisters giggles coming from the other side of the wall.

"Elena?" He slowly spoke out her name, his feet carrying him towards the wall. He crouched down before it, his dark locks falling before his green eyes. He smiled widely, knowing that he finally found her.

"FOUND YOU!" Ethan yelled when he looked through the hole in the wall, his dimples showing on his cheeks. The girl let out a loud shriek, her body jolting backwards. Elena giggled and crawled towards her brother, lifting the plank that had been concealing her before away so she could reach him.

"You keep on getting better at this, little sister." Ethan smiled when Elena had jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly as he lifted her up from the ground. He stroked her soft hair while his other arm supported her weight. "Especially for a girl of 4 years old, you're pretty smart, aren't you?"

"Father would've been proud of you." Ethan smiled at her, carrying her out of their house that consisted out of one room. To say they were poor would've been an understatement, their father never provided them of anything and their mother didn't earn very much money. When Ethan reached the age, he became the blacksmith's apprentice so he could make sure their sister got everything she needed.

"Someday I want to be like you." Elena smiled, baring her teeth. At that time she was missing 6 different teeth, her voice was high pitched and her taste still girly.

"Like me?" Ethan chuckled at her. "No, no. Someday you're going to be the first female guardian to become a legend."

"Damon?" Ethan frowned when he saw Damon returning from his work. Which was unusual, Damon never worked. All he did was hang out with his friends, mostly stealing stuff or breaking everything in his path.

"Damon, what is it?" Ethan frowned when he saw the look on his brother's face. He held Elena tighter against him, trying to protect his sister from the horror that Damon brought.

Tears started to flow down his cheeks as Damon looked up at Ethan and Elena. Ethan immediately knew something had gone terribly wrong, Damon never cried.

"It's mother." Damon sobbed, his whole body shaking as he looked at his siblings. "She's dead."

"Wake up!" Ramsay grinned and poured a bucket full of ice cold water over Elena and then Louis. "It's a new and wonderful morning."

Elena groaned, her body shivering. She hadn't noticed that she had fallen asleep, probably not for long. It was already morning before she dozed away, she remembered the strays of sunlight shining through the tiny window.

But the dream, she thought, it didn't feel like a dream. It was more a memory. How could Ethan have changed so much though if it was an actual memory?

Elena didn't think any more about it, she was more focused on Louis. His skin had become even paler than before but now sweat was covering his entire body. big bags were under his eyes and his mouth had become purple.

"Now." Ramsay gleefully clapped his hands, looking between the two guardians. "We're going to play a game."

~

"Goddammit." Damon groaned as he got up from the floor. Ethan had almost bashed his head in, Damon had passed out.

"What the hell." Damon frowned when he looked around, his eyebrows furrowing when he saw he was in King's Landing.

The most surprising part though was that he wasn't in chains, he was free again. The Dark One was nowhere in sight, Leaving Damon alone in the dark alleyway.

It wasn't some dark alley though. Damon had recognized it immediately when he had taken in his surroundings.

It was the alley where his mother had been raped right before his eyes.

Damon took in a deep breath as he stood up, immediately unwrapping his dark wings from behind his back. He was still weak, his brother hadn't given him food or water during his time being a captive.

"Why did you bring me here?" Damon sighed, knowing his twin was somewhere around.

"Because, dear brother," The Dark one smiled as he suddenly appeared right before Damon, using his teleportation skills. "This is where it all started, isn't it?"

The Dark One started to walk around Damon slowly, too lazy to unwrap his wings to threaten his brother. He knew that Damon knew he was stronger. "This is where you let them rape our mother."

"What do you want, an applause for knowing that?" Damon frowned. "Well, you're not going to get it."

The Dark one chuckled and shook his head, looking at his brother. "That's not why we're here."

"Then why are we here?" Damon asked. "Look, I'm tired off your games and tricks. What are you trying to prove here?"

"Join me." The Dark One said when he stood before Damon. "And avoid losing someone else due to your actions, join me and Ramsay will let Elena go."

"What in the seven hells are you talking about?" Damon's eyes widened. His heart skipped a few beats as his hands clenched into balls.

"What? Don't tell me you didn't expect that this would happen." The Dark One chuckled and lifted his eyebrows. "She's stubborn, Damon! Always has been. Of course she thought that she could save Sansa."

Damon ran his hands through his hair, pacing in front of his brother as he bit on his lip to prevent himself from screaming out loud. He turned towards Ethan, grasping his shoulder in an attempt to get him back.

"We have to save her, Ethan." Damon's eyes were wide, his concern for his sister filling him.

"What?" The Dark One laughed out loud and shook Damon's hand off of him. "You really think that'd bring your brother back? A hand on my shoulder, really?"

The Dark One continued to laugh, dimples appearing on his cheeks. "I must say, that look in your eyes almost touched me." He laid a hand on his heart, pouting.

"I have to say no, though." The Dark One pouted. "She's lost already, you know how Ramsay gets."

Damon sat down on the ground, hiding his face in his hands.

"Still leaves us with that one proposal." The Dark one sat down beside Damon. "Join me. It's the least you could do after that incident with mother. You owe me."

"I owe you nothing." Damon growled but kept his face hidden in his hands.

"Then it leaves us to do but one thing." The Dark One stood up and towered over his brother.

Damon nodded, knowing what his brother meant. He stood up also, looking at his twin for the last time before it all began.

"It doesn't have to be this way." Damon sighed, the memories of his lost brother coming back to him when he saw the slightest hint of green in his eyes. "You can still return to Elena and me."

Ethan chuckled, shaking his head. He smiled as he looked at his brother before turning away. He walked to the end of the alley and turned his head again, looking at Damon over his shoulder.

"See you on the battlefield, brother."

"There's no sign of him, your grace." One of the scouts returned in the midst of the night. He had searched the area behind and around them for the lost guardian. "We searched everywhere."

"Steven?" Robb looked up from his map, glancing at the guardian before him. "What do you think?"

"Right now, a lot of things." Steven chuckled sadly and leaned both his hands on the table while studying the map. "When it comes to the war though, the siege of Winterfell, I think we'll have to do it the old fashioned way."

Steven looked up at Robb. "That includes trebuchets and catapults."

"I suggest that we should focus on the northern gate since that's the weakest spot. Once our catapults have taken it down we can let our cavalry inside the castle."

"I'd have to destroy my home to regain it." Robb nodded and closed his eyes. "Thank you, Steven. You can go now."

"Your grace." Steven bowed slightly and exited the tent. Robb watched as he left the tent, grateful that at least one of the guardians was someone who could actually speak to him like any other normal person would. Robb knew that Steven was someone who was righteous no matter what, just like his father was. When you came to think of it Steven was a lot like Eddard, maybe that's why Robb liked Steven more than the other guardians, excluding Elena.

Robb sighed as he sat down, staring in front of him. He felt beaten now that he had no one around him anymore, not his father, mother, sister, brother or love. He even started to wish that Gillian was there. Somewhere deep down Robb missed Gillian's sarcastic remarks and witty comments.

Even though Gillian was a competitor for when it came to Elena, at least he managed to always make her smile. At least Gillian managed to protect her and never fail her trust. Robb had known for a long time that Gillian would've been better for Elena yet Robb couldn't let her go.

Robb hid his face in his hands, trying to shut down his mind. He kept on seeing images of Elena in chains, beaten and abused. Who knew what Ramsay had done to her already. Ramsay had his sister and love, making Robb almost unable to do anything against it.

Every moment his body was in fear, his mind on high alert and his body weakened. All he could think about was driving a sword through Ramsay's heart now that he had them.

Suddenly soft fur touched his hands as Grey Wind nudged him with his nose. "It's all right." Robb sighed and softly stroked the wolf's fur. Grey wind laid down, his head resting on Robb's legs. Somehow it made Robb calmer than before, his hand continuing to softly stroke the wolf's fur.

Robb and his direwolf both raised their heads when they heard screaming outside, the sound of fire coming from not so far away.

The Northern king dashed out of the tent and saw the chaos outside. Burning tents, killed horses, running and screaming men.

"Your grace!" Aidan ran towards him with his daughter by his side. Ella's dog chased them from behind, his paw was broken.

"What's going on?!" Robb yelled over the noise whilst Ella hugged him tightly , her arms wrapping around his waist and her head buried in his clothes.

"We don't know." Aidan looked around at the chaos, the fire had already destroyed a few hundred tents.

Robb saw a few men on the other side of the camp, wearing different armour than his or Stannis's army had. There were 10 men mounting horses and driving away. Robb narrowed his eyes at the tiny dots, grasping his sword. "Boltons."

~

Her soft footsteps were the only thing that was to be heard in the destroyed castle. She walked through the ruins of Dreadfort, the castle burned after the battle.

She didn't exactly know what she was doing there, somehow she knew she had to find something or someone. She walked towards the courtyard, seeing the burned corpses. There were several different sigils on the soldier's chests; the flayed man of the Bolton's, the direwolf of house Stark and another she didn't recognize.

She whistled a tune, the noise echoing through the whole castle. Her black boots kicked at the remains of a house, her green eyes looking for something. All her life she had relayed on her instincts, ever since her uncle brought her into the North she had been on her own. She lived in the forest alone, sleeping in old caverns and abandoned houses. She kept on whistling as he stalked through the ruins, her hand grasping her dagger.

Until she found what she was looking for.

In the middle of the courtyard was a corpse, a man with brown mid length hair with many daggers on his belt. He had been killed by a sword that was driven through his belly. When she saw the direwolf on his armour, she knew he was one of the Stark's. His armour looked expensive, letting her know that he was once a lord. That meant he was trained for battle.

"Hello there, handsome." The girl smiled through her raven black hair that was hanging before her eyes as she looked at the corpse. She unwrapped her dark wings from behind her back as she knelt down before the body.

Putting both her hands on his chest, she began to sing the ancient words she had learned. Dark mists came from under her hands and flew into the corpse, slowly bringing it back to life.

Suddenly his eyelids snapped open, pushing the girl out of his way as he gasped for air. His dark brown eyes then focused on the girl in front of him.

"Tell me your name." The girl leaned forward, her green eyes scanning his face as her hand traced his jawline.

"I, I don't know..." He frowned, not feeling like himself. It felt like he was missing something or someone. His eyes frantically looked around, trying to find something that would bring his memories back. "Gill..." He looked back at the girl, not remembering anything.

"Gillian." His dark brown eyes looked at the girl, the only thing that he recognized were her green eyes. He looked down at his chest, seeing the dried blood on his chest and the huge gash where it came from.

"Well then, Gillian." Abigail smiled as she held his jaw in her hand. "We're going to have some fun together."
