Chapter three

I woke up with a massive headache. I couldn't think straight. In fact, I couldn't think at all. I looked around, and the cow was mooing away to my left.

"What the hell...?" I tried to get up, but I seized in pain, and fell on my left side. All of a sudden the tingling feeling filled my head. It wasn't a headache, nor some kind of head injury...

What the hell happened?

I tried to get up again, and a wave of dizziness washed over me as the barn doors opened. Carl was in the door way.

But I thought the doors got ripped off???

"Ye' alright? You look like crap!" Carl walked over with a bucket in his hand and set it down under the cow.

"Yeah, just a bad dream." I rubbed my eyes gently, slowly standing back up. Carl started milking the cow's utters.

"Well, yer' plane's filled and yer' aileron is patched up."

Woah, he really knows how to be hospitable. I walked over to him. "Thanks Carl, I appreciate it." I shook his hand, and accidentally shocked him, somehow..

"YOW!" He jumped and then sucked his finger. "That shocked the hell outta' me!" He flung his hand and went back to milking. "Man, ye' some kind of electricity generator?" He laughed and shook his head. "Anyways, yer' welcome kiddo. I also put my phone number in there if you ever need anything from me. I don't know what ya' got going on, but if you ever need someone, call me?"

"Thank you Carl.." I started walking out, and looked at my hands. I shocked him? The wife and kids were out playing and Daryl had my pilot helmet on. I'll just let him keep it. The kids stopped and looked at me.

I waved at them and smiled while I got in the plane, grabbed the keys out of my pocket and, turned the ignition.

"Wait!" Carl ran up to the left side of the Tornado. "You might need this. My father made it!"

Carl handed me a pilot's coat. It looked old, but felt brand new.

"I never really had a purpose with it, so I figured it'd go nice with an actual pilot."

"Thank you Carl. Really, I can't thank you enough." I gave him a firm shake, and I buckled up. Carl stepped back as I moved forward, waving at me. I waved back, and put the plane in full throttle. Corn and wheat flew past me as the plane was gaining speed.

Once the plane reached about 210 knots, I pulled up and lifted into the air, the wind blowing in my face and into my fur. I looked back down at the red barn as it vanished below the clouds.

"Nice knowing ya', Carl." I smiled and put my goggles on.

As soon as I focused back in front of me, the tingling feeling came back. This time, it was stronger.

What the heck is that? I looked to my left, and the tingling died down. I looked to my right and the tingling spiked. Must've slept weird.. A little nap might help.

I yawned, put the tornado on autopilot, heading straight towards New Vancouver and leaned back to try to take my mind off of it.

"Agh!" Pain fell over me. My head began to explode with images, some very violent.

Some guy in armor, with blue glowing eyes, holding a sword with what looked like symbols and a skull with horns on it, and that young girl in the stars, but her face was easier to see. She had purple and blue hair, and her eyes seemed to twinkle.

And... Me?

I was holding a sword with different symbols on it, but the vision flashed from me holding a sword, to me with four tails, and a double bladed sword... I locked eyes with the image, and my mirror's eyes were glowing yellow, with electricity crawling around all over his.. MY.. body.

My head began splitting with intense pain, making me cry.

Please, stop! "Please!" I yelled. I couldn't take the pain anymore. I pulled at my fur and grit my teeth together. And without warning: The pain stopped..

I was in the dark, shaking. What the hell... This is all happening so fast.

"And it will go a lot faster, young one!" A voice with some kind of fancy accent said behind me. I froze, got up, and slowly turned around. It was that same girl from the visions.

Uh oh.. I balled my fists and got into position, ready for a potential fight.

"I know I'm not supposed to hit and fight a girl, but whoever you are, I will fight to protect my life, so..."

I wasn't scared, but I also didn't know what was to come.

She nodded her head and smiled...

"Oh yes, you'll do just fine." She rubbed her chin in thought, still smiling.

I put my fists down, sighed, and cocked my head in confusion while I looked around, and then back at her. There was nothing but me, her, and total darkness.

"Huh?" I scratched my head and slowly walked towards her.

"Oh! I'm so sorry, please forgive my awful manners!" She waved both her hands in opposite directions, and thousands of stars exploded into view. I looked around in awe as my jaw dropped.

"I," she bowed, "Am the universe." She looked back at me.

...

Nope, not buying it. It's gotta be some kind of dream. There's no way this girl is the universe. I looked at her, and she could tell I didn't believe a single word she said.

"And what if I was a man?" She morphed into a boy.

She just read my mind, again! She switched back into female, and did the 'Dude, come on' gesture.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions, but we need to cut to the chase, Miles." She changed her mood from playful to serious. "I'm guessing you saw more than just me in your visions?" She waved her hands and the setting around us changed. There were two fancy chairs and a sun about 2 light years away. Kinda like-

"A fire place?" She said as she sat down in the chair on my left.

"Exactly like a fire place." I sat down after her, crossing my legs. "And yeah, I saw a lot more than just you in my visions." I looked at the star, observing its solar arches.

"Tell me what you saw then, please." She leaned forward. Here we go again.

"I saw... I don't know, some guy in silver armor, with a sword." She nodded in response.

"That is the Lich King.." She said in a serious tone.

"Who?" I sat up straight.

"The Lich King, also known as Arthas Menethil. He used to be my universal guardian.. Until he became corrupt with power." She waved her hands once more, and the stars in the distance constructed an image of Arthas. "There are two kinds of guardians in this universe: The galaxy guardian, and the universal guardian. The guardians have one sword. About thirteen billion years ago, I created Trillions of billions of galaxy swords, and sent them off to find one galaxy. And one galaxy, means one sword. And when they find their worthy wielder, they adapt and change shape to match the guardians personality, size, and skill." She got rid of the hologram of Arthas.

"But what about the universal sword?" I rubbed my eyes, trying to process all this.

"The Universal sword applies a little different. It does the same thing as the galaxy sword, but it possesses more power, and is much harder to control. After I sent all the galaxy swords off, only one sword remained. And you can probably guess what it was." An image of the sword Arthas was holding formed. It looked exactly the same from the visions.

I noticed the symbols on the sword again. "Hey what are those?" I pointed at one of them. The sword faded into nothing, but the blue symbols remained.

"Ah, the prophecy." She crossed her arms, and paced slowly back and forth.

"The prophecy?" I was puzzled.

"After I sent all the swords, including the universal sword, I couldn't let just ANYONE wield so much power, that'd be chaos. So I put a prophecy: To anyone who is worthy enough to hold the galactic blade, they absolutely MUST hold their blade with honer, dignity, and respect," She looked at me, "Or that's kinda the gist of it." She giggled.

"Let me get this straight," I turned around and looked at her, "So, every single galaxy, has one sword, and one guardian?"

"Yes, and the Lich King is killing them all." She nodded.

"And the universal sword grants him unimaginable power I'm guessing?"

"Correct." She waved her finger randomly. "Sorry, had to help a star explode about 300 light years away." She smiled at me.

"And what can he do with that power?" I asked her in suspense.

"He can cast demons made of shadow.. Darkness.. They vary in size of course. I can't tell you how many types of shadow demons there are, because that's for you to find out yourself." She smiled.

WHAT?! ME? AGAINST A UNIVERSAL GUARDIAN WHO'S KILLED THOUSANDS OF OTHER GUARDIANS???

"That is correct, Miles," She giggled.. "Because YOU.. Are my new guardian." She pointed at me. I was shocked... Big time.

"So I'm a galaxy guardian?" I cocked my head.
"No," She looked serious, "You are a Universal guardian."

I got super confused. "There's two of them now? Arthas and me?
It wouldn't make sense that there's only one universe, and two universal guardians!"

She sighed. "Miles, Arthas is on a killing spree, he's not a universal guardian anymore, he would be a universal killer now. That's why YOU are taking his place." She crossed her arms.

"Ooooooh." I nodded in realization. "So, where's MY sword?" I asked.

"On Mobius. Except, She's a galaxy sword." An image of my planet shifted into view.

"She? And, where's the guardian then if there's a sword still around?" I scratched my head, zooming in where I used to live.

"Right here, next to me, of course. And yes, a she. The sword has a personality of it's own, obviously."

Yeah, obviously.

"How do I find her? Can you show me where she is?" I pointed at a random spot on the holographic image of my planet.

"Notice any tingling?" She smirked.

"Oh no," I realized something.. "Please no.."

"Oh yes, you have to follow the tingling." She laughed.

"Just teleport me!" I shrugged in stress and confusion.

"Would a guardian in any of my universes be lazy like this?"

What? "Any of your universes?"
I walked towards her and crossed my arms.

Suddenly she looked scared and afraid. "There's no time to explain, you must go, now! Arthas just killed another guardian, and he can sense your power and use that to find you!"

She put her hand on my shoulder.

"You, Miles Tails Prower, are my ONLY hope to stop him, to protect this universe. You have your mission, use the tingling feeling to find your sword, practice and fight off any shadow demons to protect your planet, and when the time is right," she put her other hand on my other shoulder, "Kill Arthas Menethil.
And use your power I gave you wisely.. it's not to be taken lightly."

She put her hand on my face.
"Now, go!"

...

I woke up in my plane and jumped in surprise. I thought long and hard about what she said, and looked left.. Where the tingling spiked.

"Follow the tingling.." I whispered...
This'll be fun.
