** INGRID'S POV **

I call Lilia and drag her inside. Where was she going? what was she up to?

"Mom and Dad are making their announcement."

"What is it about ?"

"No idea, but they were pretty excited. Now hurry, they are waiting for you."

Upon reaching inside we see Mom and Dad standing on the makeshift stage and were holding a mic. A handful of our close family friends were left in the room.

"Oh darling, here they are." Mom says pointing at our direction.

"Well, ready for the big news?" my dad asks us over the mic.

I hope Mom isn't pregnant. That would be too much to bear.

"Yeaaahhhhh. " I holler. Lili stays quiet I wonder what is up with her. She was usually the bubbly one.

"Umm. How do I tell this? It's that.. aargghhh... Darlin' why don't you do it," my dad sighs, handing over the mic to Mom. I could tell he was nervous, nervous about our reaction perhaps.

"Well, dear friends and my lovely daughters, I'm pleased to announce that I got an offer to do an event in New York." my mom says excited and her looks were trained on us waiting for our reaction. Woah, mom and New York!

"Well, actually it's a Gala that she will organize."

"Wow, that's great," seems like Lilia finally woke up from her daze.

"I know right. Mom and New York, who'd have thought."

I was so happy for mom. It's like her dream come true.

After a while, when everyone was done congratulating my mom for her offer, we finally head home. It was almost midnight by the time we reach home.

"So kids what do you think of it?" My mom asks. I could see she was waiting to see our reaction.

"Mom, that was the best thing I ever heard. I'm so happy for you. You finally get to fulfill your dreams." Lili says smiling and hugging my mom.

"Yeah, mom. You finally get to show the world who the boss is." I chirp in.

"So kids. Here is the thing. We need to leave tomorrow morning itself. We need to take care of everything and since it's a huge event everything needs to be double, triple checked."

"We? Even Lillia and I are coming," I ask, already dreaming about New York.

"Don't be silly, of course not. Your dad has an important meeting to attend in New York and he is planning on flying along with me to keep me company for a few days."

I was secretly overjoyed. Things were just getting better and better.

"When is this event ?"

"It's in the mid of July."

"Mom, it's still the thirtieth of May. You have more than a month left ."

"Just a month, dear. Let's not forget that it is a GALA I will organize, not some small town ball."

"But one whole month !?"

"I need to find a proper theme then locate resources ,arrange the whole thing, cross check the guest list and many much more."

"But mom. I'll miss you." Lili says in a sad tone.

She has always been the emotionally attached one.

"Me too." I say. Maybe I'll enjoy their time away, but I'll definitely miss them.

After a group hug and a few yawns from the group, mainly from my dad, we call it a day and leave to our rooms. On the way to my room, my phone beeps. I unlock it to see a message from Kevin.

LOVE: Hey babe, meet me up in 10 in your backyard. ;)

What the hell is he doing here in the middle of the night. We had an open backyard, and it was connected to the forest. He could easily sneak in, but what is he doing here!!

I go up, change my dress and wait for my parents to fall asleep, before I sneak out.

ME: Hold on. Will be there. XO.

I wonder what does he want now, though I wouldn't mind a few kisses and finish what he started at the ball. He too was on a vacation and I missed him.

I stroll around in my room and after a while, I carefully open my room door and make sure no one is in sight. I see that it's silent and dark outside. I hurry to grab a flashlight from my cupboard and slowly get down the stairs.

I avoid the ones that creak and slowly make my way to the kitchen. I turn the knob only to find it locked. I reach for the cabinet above the sink where they usually keep the spare keys and quickly unlock it. I go out the backyard to see nothing. He wasn't here. Maybe he was late !!

I wait for another five minutes, but he still doesn't turn up. Maybe he went inside the forest, waiting there by our spot. I make my way towards the forest and use the flashlight. Thank God I brought it. I mentally think.

It was very creepy and dark in here. Moss and small twigs covered the forest floor. I could hear the scrunching of my footsteps echo against the silent night.

I came here many times, but never did it feel so weird. I keep walking but pause when I hear some other sounds in the forest. It was something unclear. Maybe he is in here waiting for me.

I see a clearing in the middle of the forest, with the moonlight shining brightly and the clearing looking so beautiful. Dense bushes, shrubs and a few trees surrounded it. I slowly pave my way through them to the clearing. The shrubs keep poking me, I could already feel a few cuts forming.

I reach the clearing and flash my light looking for him, only to see a man dressed in black sitting amidst animal's carcass. He was devouring animals, and his pale skin had red blood smeared all over it. The flashlight slips my hand and hits the floor, his eyes turn to face me and I see the darkest and the most pitch black soulless eyes stare at me. The moonlight hits his face, enhancing his sharp features and throwing a little light to the mess he is sitting in.

I could see his blood stained teeth and a wicked smile plastered on his face. Oh My God, what sort of creature is he. Is He A ZOMBIE OR WHAT ???

"ZOMBIE. ZOMBIE," I yell, losing my sense of direction whilst running away from him. I lose my way, but I keep running, hoping that this creature isn't following me.

I hear footsteps approaching me .

Oh Shit!

That creature is following me. I run for what feels like an eternity, almost giving up, but then I see the moonlight.

Maybe I am near the forest borders. I run with the last force of energy left in me. I turn back hesitantly, afraid what I might see. But I had to make sure he wasn't following me. Me running with my eyes constantly behind resulted in me bumping against someone. Oh god, anybody but him, I pray.

I hesitantly look up to see someone with long hair standing there. The silhouette looks very scary, given this person's long hair was all over their face and it was difficult to make out who was it. This part of the forest was a little dense, and only a little of the bright moonlight could make through it. It was still dark, and I couldn't really make out their face. I was scared beyond measure. Oh god, who is it now?

"Iddy, are you all right?" Asks that person flashing light on my face. I sigh when I realize that it was just Lilia.

" Lili, thank god it's you. We need to get out of this forest now." I get up and pull her hand, urging her to follow me.

" Why? What happen?"

" First let's go home then I'll tell you."

" NO. Tell. " Oh Lili. why do you have to be stubborn now.

" Don't act stubborn now." I urge her to get out from here.

She nods her head in disagreement and stands her ground. Oh god, she can be so annoying.

"Fine, listen. There is a ZOMBIE in the forest." I finally yell, getting it off my chest.

"What?" She asks, her voice sounding bewildered.

" Exactly I knew you won't believe. " I state when we hear the cry of an animal in the distance.

She takes a step closer to me. Her face morphing from confusion to determination.

"I do, but first let's see where is that creature."

"It's a zombie."

"Let's see and then decide." She says shaking her head and following me into the forest.

I roll my eyes, not knowing what to do with her. I lead her towards the clearing, and we slowly move towards the clearing. Upon coming closer, we see this place deserted. I spot my flashlight and pick it up. I flash the light, but still I don't spot anyone or anything. I see Lilia walking ahead of me. When did she become so brave ?

"Iddy come here." she yells.

I follow her line of sight and see the creatures lying on the ground. We go closer to see that they are almost dead and there was blood spilled everywhere.

"Iddy I don't think it was a zombie."

"Why ?"

"See the meat of the creatures is perfectly intact. Zombies only eat the meat. I think this is someone different."

We hear the rustling of leaves and turn around but don't spot anyone .

"Let's go already. We don't want this creature anywhere near us."

We hurry home and the only thing I could think of was. Who was he?
