Vengeance

I sat straight up; my forehead covered in a cold sweat. Knowing I wouldn't be getting much more sleep I got out of the cot and made my way over to my bag where I pulled out an iPod, connected some earbuds and put a song on before walking outside and start jogging down the stream.

The cold air bit into my skin but I didn't mind as I tried to clear my mind of the constant reoccurring dream. However, as I tried to figure it out the dream quickly faded from my memory which infuriated me. I didn't pay much mind to it however as I soon found a secluded spot several hundred yards from the hunter's camp and I smiled slightly. I used my powers to will the water from the stream into several ice pillars dotted around the clearing. Once I was done, I turned the volume up on the music and pulled Riptide out of my pocket and uncapped the pen, revealing the ancient bronze blade.

I take a stance in the center of the clearing, closing my eyes and calming my breath. I then snap my eyes open as I lunge at a pillar in front of me and attack it viciously before jumping to the various other pillars. I quickly let my muscle memory take over as I attack the pillars in quick succession, my blade becoming a weapon of mass destruction in my hands.

I continue my training for a few hours, remaking the ice pillars when one of them breaks, or taking small breathers to drink from the stream. However, as I finish up, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I lean back as an arrow shoots past me. I turn to my left to see a large hoard of monsters surrounding me. My eyebrows raise before a vicious smirk and an evil glint find their way onto my face. I reach into my pocket and pull out my iPod and instead of turning the music off, I change the song and put it on repeat before putting it back and reading myself. Another arrow was shot at me from a dracaena wielding a bow.

I quickly track the arrow and cut it in half with Riptide as my smirk deepens and my eyebrows furrow making a very terrifying look. I charge forward as the monsters around me rush in to try to kill me. Several sets of arrows are suddenly shot at me and I spin in a circle while tapping my watch summoning my shield to deflect them. When I land, I continue my charge and quickly cut down my first target.

I find myself surrounded and I slip into an all too familiar state of mind, one that I don't want my friends to ever see. A state that I call... Perseus.

I vaulted over a hellhound before driving Riptide into the skull of a Northern Cyclops. As I pulled Riptide out, the Cyclops' eye came with it, but I quickly flung it into a wild centaur that caught it with a look of horror. I jabbed my shield into a hellhound's mouth before flipping Riptide into an ice-pick grip and drove the bronze blade into the monster's neck. I twisted my body to the side as a spear was thrust in my direction, I avoided it but got a small cut on my side, causing a surge of adrenaline through my veins.

My senses heightened and I quickly ducked under a sword swipe from the centaur. I lashed out with Riptide cutting its front legs off before slashing at its throat cutting it open before moving onto my next target. I jump back into a Laistrygonian Giant that attempted to bearhug me but got a bronze sword into its gut. I turned around and kicked the giant off of Riptide before spinning to the side and slashing horizontally cutting an empousa through chest as she tried to jump on me. I instinctively held my shield up and deflected a large club from another cyclops before spinning around counter clockwise and slamming the face of my shield into gryphon that had tried to use the distraction of the other monsters to attack.

By this time most of the monsters had either been destroyed or were trying to escape but they were getting away that easily. As they ran, I quickly gathered the water in nearby areas and erected a large ice wall around them keeping them trapped with me.

"Where do you think you were going? I was starting to have fun!" I said darkly as I stepped onto the stunned gryphon and slowly drove riptide through its skull using my own weight "We wouldn't want the party to end so, soon do we?" I laughed as I saw the fear in the monster's eyes

"We're ssssorry for asssulting you sssson of the ssssssea..." A Dracaena said as she got on her knees and bowed

However, I stalked forward slowly, my blood still rushing through my body as I grabbed her head and slowly pushed riptide through her skull.

"I do not care if you are sorry, you attacked me, therefore you all shall die slowly if you do not fight" I laughed as the monsters kept backing up "Aww, does little old me scare you? Good! Now you know how the demigods feel when you hunt them down early in life!" I said as the monsters slowly tried to regroup with the remaining giants trying to break through my ice wall with the smaller ones defending them

Just as I was about to slaughter the rest of them, a rain of silver arrows shot down from above and shattered the ice letting the monsters run. I whipped around and saw Artemis and a few of her hunters in the trees. A low growl emanated from my throat as I tightened my grip on my weapons.

"What did you do that for! I had it completely under control!" I shouted angrily

"Percy, you need to calm down" Artemis said but the words held no meaning to me

"I was going to show them what it felt like when they hunted down demigods! I was going to get revenge!" I snarled as Artemis jumped down and walked over to me slowly

"Percy, lower your weapon..." Artemis asked but I tightened my grip and raised my shield as I noticed several hunters ready their bows

"Tell your hunters to lower theirs first" I spat my anger slowly building

Artemis looked at the others and motioned them to lower their bows. Once they did that, I slightly dropped my sword and shield.

"Percy, please, calm down. This isn't you" She said as she got close and gently lowered my weapons and pulled my earbuds out of my ears since the spear had cut the cord and turned off the music "Listen to the wilds around you, allow the sound of the wind and flowing water calm you" She said and I grudgingly listened and my bloodlust slowly vanished "Good, now let's head back to camp, breakfast will be ready okay?" I nodded silently as she started leading me back towards the camp my mind slowly coming back to me

"Thank you..." I muttered as we walked, and Artemis nodded keeping her eyes forward

Several minutes before during the battle
Artemis' POV:

I watched in shock as Percy tore through the monsters that had surrounded him. And by the look on my hunter's faces, this side of him terrified them. He killed them so easily it is easy to see why he is the hero of Olympus, but this wasn't a protective side of him. No, this was the side that showed its face when Annabeth was stabbed, a side that wanted terrible vengeance.

"We have to stop him" I told Thalia who looked at her friend in horror that he could be capable of such coldness

"But milady, can't we let him kill the monsters first?" Lexi asked but I shook my head

"No, we can't let him continue" I said as the fighting stopped, and I heard him talking to the remaining monsters

However, when I saw a monster bow to him, I thought everything was over. But, when Percy walked over, grabbed the monsters head and slowly executed her slowly I knew he would make an example of every monster there if we didn't interfere.

"Girls, break the ice let the monsters escape" I ordered much to the confusion of my hunters, but I gave them a steely glare and they all nodded

They notched their arrows and let them fly with an accuracy that only one of my hunters can boast of. The ice easily shattered under their combined fire and the monsters quickly escaped.

"What did you do that for! I had it under control!" Percy shouted causing my eye to twitch slightly but I calmed myself and looked directly at his dark green eyes that promised pain to his enemies

"Percy, you need to calm down" However as I said the words his anger increased

'Yeah that was smart, telling an angry demigod to calm down...' I think to myself as he says something about revenge.

Sighing, I drop down to his level and slowly walk forward, keeping my eyes on the point of Riptide.

"Percy, lower your weapons..." I plead but his eyes flick to behind me and he tightens his grip and stance

"Tell your hunters to lower theirs first" he spat angrily as his body trembled

I turn around and motion for everyone to lower their weapons, which they thankfully do. I then turn back to Percy and get close enough to slowly start pushing his sword and shield down.

"Percy, please, calm down this isn't you" I say and I gently pull his earbuds out of his ears and look at him directly in the eyes "Listen to the wilds around you, allow the sound of the wind and the flowing water to calm you" I watched as he closed his eyes and his body slowly stopped shaking, his anger subsiding and when he reopened his eyes, they were a slightly lighter shade of green with a light ring of fatigue under them "Good, now let's head back to camp, breakfast will be ready okay?" He nodded and I started leading him back,

"Thank you..." he muttered as we walked back, and I nodded at him, but my mind was somewhere else

What had caused his sudden outburst of anger, the monsters attacked him yes, but he wouldn't have gotten so angry before. Sighing internally, I pushed the topic to the side for the moment, seeing as I didn't have any information about what was going on. And I doubted Percy would open up so easily. He was like his father in that regard, always kept his troubles to himself as not to worry anyone else. 'Be like the sea, constantly shifting and changing but always strong' was Poseidon's favorite saying.

After several minutes of walking, we finally made it back to the camp where Atalanta was cooking breakfast, however, Percy silently went back to his tent and went in and zipped it up.

"There is definitely something wrong..." Thalia said bluntly, and I looked at her with a raised eyebrow

"Thanks for the information captain obvious" I say blandly before sitting down at a table and getting my food "Question is, when will he open up"

"By the look he had on his face on our way back I assume it'll be a long time" Thalia said with a mouthful of bacon "And trust me, when he wants to keep something a secret, by the gods he will keep it from seeing the light of Apollo" she finished

"Thalia, finish your food before you talk!" Phoebe said causing the other girls to laugh however there was a general air of unease around the tent

"Whatever Phoebe, I'll finish my food when you admit your defeat at sparring last week" Thalia retorted causing the older girl to blush deeply but glare at Thalia

"Never!" Phoebe declared before continuing to eat her food

For the rest of the morning the girls went about their usual activities, but my mind was solely on the warrior in the dark blue tent by the river. Or more importantly his absence from breakfast.

'If I only knew what was going on...' I said to myself before a thought hit me and I flashed to Olympus
