Summer Begins.

I sit rapidly tapping my foot on the ground waiting for the clock to finally hit that ten O'clock mark. I look around at the students hurriedly finish their finals in my 7th period English class and think about how I'd done.

I'd failed the language section. That much I'm sure of. Although, I had always wanted to be a writer I couldn't seem to remember the vocab words from the books we had read all year. Or perhaps it's the fact I didn't study.

Well whatever it was, I know that I failed. The reading section I did good on and the writing section I know I passed. Coming up with stories had always been my strong suite. I look across from me and see Sam, one of the class clowns, eating a giant bag of skilled. I look at him then the bag, he rolls his eyes and lets me take a couple.

I look over at the teacher and try to quietly (not doing so well on that quiet part) to take some skittles from the bag.

I smile a thank you and eat my skittles.

I look back at the clock and it's only 9:50. I groan in my head and look around again. How are kids still working on theirs? I finished mine at least twenty minutes ago.

I look at the teacher and she is on her computer, trying to grade all of the finals so that if kids need to they can retake it during the last six hours of the day. Meanwhile I'm trying to rush the clock so that I can just get out of this hellhole already.

My grandmother is coming to pick me up after this so I can just leave early, although I feel bad for wanting to leave my newfound friends so quickly, but what can I say? I really just wanna leave,Although I can't right away because I owe the teacher fifteen bucks for the stupid book I lost. Luckily my friend gave me the money because I was not about to ask my grandmother for fifteen bucks and have her give me her little twenty minute disappointment treatment.

Twenty minutes may seem short to you but we she just sighs loudly and walks around groaning and cleaning around the house it really makes you feel bad.

The kid owed me five bucks for not breaking my phone anyways. But that's another story.

I look back at the clock again, 10:56. Why is time going by so slowly? Once again I groan internally. I look back in front of my and watch Sam continue to chomp away on his skittles.

Two minutes before class ends, the teacher stands up.

"I know that some of you still need more time, and that's okay. But I want to let you guys know something before you leave for the summer."

She pulls up the little projector thing the teachers in my school have rather than smart boards and it shows the nicest note I had ever received from a teacher.

She read it out loud

"I will miss you, yours stories - your jokes - your smiles - your laughter - your creativity - your ideas - your dancing - your willingness to try new things - your face during a "lightbulb moment" - your questions - your kindness - your information - your enthusiasm - your desire to be your best - your Kearsarge pride - your big hearts - our classroom, family and you."

In that moment, as she read all these things she loved about my class out loud I felt a new sense of pride, a sense that I was where I was supposed to be and that just made me feel good inside.

We all thanked her and told her we missed her, I had to stay slightly longer to give her the money for the book I lost and she hugged me and said I just come back for one of her other classes.

I smiled and nodded but couldn't say anything cause if I did I would burst out into tears, and I'm not for that.

I walked out into the hallway and was greeted by most of my friends, Aeryn, one of my first friends when I moved this year put her arms around me and I smile, as we are walking down the hall I stop them and force them to take a group selfie, they all oblige

"Cheese!" I shout and we all smile,

We look at the picture and I decided it was perfect for that moment. I smile as we take a whole bunch more pictures.

"Guys I have to go..." I say looking up from the text I had just received from my grandmother, they all frown and look around,

"Bye Nautica," they all said and I waved my goodbye as I walk out of the two front doors leading to my school, walking onto the sidewalk and into my grandmothers mustang.

Goodbye school, and welcome summer.

______

"Hey," I say walking into my bedroom and getting up onto my bed where my sleeping best friend, Maddie, is. She jumps a little waking up to me directly in her face.

"Your home!" she says and hugs me, I nod hugging her back.

We sit and watch YouTube for a while until I hear my phone ring on Facebook messenger,

"Umm, hello?" I look at the screen and it is Matt, the closest friend I have living near me and even he is twenty minutes away. Although we haven't hung out much since his girlfriend came back into the picture and went all psychotic, jealous girlfriend on me.

"Hey, so I'm walking down the road the high school is on and-"

"What?" Maddie and I shout at the same time,

"Yeah, so can you give me a ride home?" Maddie and I look at eachother, I'm tying to stifle a laugh,

"Matt, my grandmother is at work."

"Ask her."

"She's not gonna do it," I roll my eyes but I text her anyways,

Floor Matt is walking home from school right now

Really?

Yeah.

She sends a laughy-Criey emoji back and I just laugh,

"Sorry about it Matt, no luck she's at work." he just groans and continues to complain about how hot it is, he is walking down the street with no shirt on as we are both trying to figure out how far away he ism

"Hey I'm at the end of the street,"

I thought it was gonna be a lot longer than that,

"I'm going into your grandmothers work,"

"Have fun,"

I listen to their conversation,

"Hey,"

"Hey Matt, how was your walk?"

"It was nice, hot, but nice."

"Hmm."

"Can I have a ride home?"

"I'm working Matt, sorry."

"It's okay,"

"You can go to my house though and hang out with the girls, just no bedroom."

"Got ya," I try to stay quiet as Maddie and I are listening in on the conversation, I hear him walk out the door.

"So what did she say?"

"I'm heading over to your place, " I was actually quite stunned,

"Okay," I look at Maddie, "Do you want us to meet you halfway?"

"Yeah,"

"K I'll see you then," I hang up,

"Let's go,"

"Do we have to?" Maddie groans as I pull her off of my bed,

"Yup lets go." She groans again and we go to meet Floor Matt.

__

"Hey Matt," I say as we walk up to him,

"Hey,"

"Long walk?" I ask sarcastically, and he rolls his eyes,

"Tell me about it,"

"I just did." Maddie chuckles and Matt just glares at her,

Maddie slapped Matt on the back and it left that hand print. I don't remember why,

That is Matt grabbing his nipples,
No explanation needed.

These are Matt's eyes. Very pretty.

So that was today, the very first day of summer, it was great. I had a blast and I guess I'll write again next time something interesting happen.
