Ch. 51 | The Winter Kingdom

Faith:
"-- Damn, it's cold!"
The cold breeze brushing over our bodies gave chills almost immediately. It was as if it heard Chris' words and got angry.
"You don't say!" I groaned, wrapping the cloak resting on my shoulders a lot tighter. I looked into the endless field of snow and ice, the whiteness almost blinding. I tried to see better in the sudden snowfall, the flakes hit my face quite much. As such, they melted to liquid and froze. Talk about freezing to death.
We had transported the very following morning to our last destination- the Winter Kingdom. Most of our group was having a hangover yet Alchadar and Dagon were the first to wake up in the crack of dawn and woke everyone up. The time was of the essence if we were to attack in a few days.
And there was no time for hangovers.
"You always complain this much?" Dagon groaned not far from me, I turned to glare in his direction. The Demon had not taken anything to shelter himself from the -20° degrees, only staying in his thin clothes as if nothing was wrong. What? Was he immune to the cold?
"Some of us don't have immunity to underworld's flames and extreme cold, Demon." Chris pointed out, annoyed of Dagon's remark. He earned an evil grin afterwards. Annoying a Demon Slayer, really? And it would seem my hint wasn't too far fetched.
"What a disappointment." Dagon groaned, noticing Praxina standing close to his body. The Elf princess was tightly engulfed in her blanket and pressed tight against his thigh and side, the Demon rolled his eyes in return. I bet he was a radiator. "For the love of Satan..."
"Don't you start with me." Praxina growled back, shaking of the wind and snow brushing on our bodies.
"Enough." Alchadar called out, looking around our surroundings. I slowly tried to navigate through the snow to reach his side, glueing to his body. The snow reached up to my knees. Damn, it was gold. His armour's steel was warm against all my doubts- these Demons weren't even slightly affected. "We must find shelter." My Demon partner gladly accepted me and put an arm around my shoulders, noticing a shaking Bella and Mona on his other side.
I looked around the endless field of snow and ice, not a shelter in sight. Where were we supposed to go?
It wasn't probably the best idea to transport on the other side of the globe without checking the weather first...
"-- Or do we?" Dagon cocked, I noticed him and Alchadar tense suddenly. I turned my head to notice Armen growl lowly behind me, looking up to the sky. They all had sensed someone. Usually not a very good sign.
"-- Who are you and why're you here?"
A voice spoke out from the dark clouds, breaking the tense silence. A male voice?
What's going on?
"We're trying to get to the Winter Kingdom. To meet with the King!" I called out, quickly wrapping the blanket on me more.
"-- And why's that?"
A female voice asked this time, the breeze came suddenly more tense as we tried to embrace it. Were they controlling the weather or was it just a crazy concequence?
"We mean no harm. But our business stands with the King." Alchadar said next, almost poisonous and frustrated. He wasn't trusting these people? Well, they weren't exactly showing themselves and we didn't know how much were we talking about. Fighting in this weather might prove to be difficult, I didn't even want to know could I transform and use my wings or would they drop dead? Choices, yet none really in our favour.
"Honesty. Something I appreciate from a Demon."
I noticed a sudden barrier form around Dagon and Praxina, then Chris and Ben, Armen, Bella and Mona. And then, finally me and Alchadar. The blue bubble shielded us from the breeze blowing on our faces- and left us floating in the air. It was like a sudden force barrier forced around us. Imprisoning us.
"What the-?" Praxina groaned, her foot deep in Dagon's face as the bubbles weren't exactly spacious. I noticed her struggling and try to gain distance to him. Dagon remained unfazed. Really just... letting her do her thing. "Could you get away from me?" She groaned, earning a very serious eyebrow raise.
"Allow me to remind you this isn't my doings. Besides," Dagon grabbed a hold of her foot and put it down, trying to get her to stop. Praxina glared hard in return. "Who happened to be glued to me before?"
"So I wouldn't freeze!" Praxina defended, her brows ridged to a frown.
I noticed the bubble I was in gain some distance to the ground, the action made me fall on my knees. Yet I realized of the knockout that I made Alchadar loose his footing as well, although the Demon grabbed me so I wouldn't be crushed under him. I rested on his abdomen now, groaning unpleasant. What was with these bubbles? And why were they so hard?
"Please, respect our manners. You have to stay in these bubbles until we reach the Kingdom." A sudden voice said suddenly, I noticed a figure finally revealing himself. What? His body turned out from dust- was he invicible just now? He was a male almost in his late 30s, and had a really white hair as well blue eyes. His outpost was strong, muscles dug out from his tight jacket and black jeans, almost showing us of his immediate authority. The strangest thing? The man was floating in the air.
How is he doing that?
"Otherwise we won't take you there." A sudden female appeared before him- from thin air. Who were these people. What was the people of Winter Kingdom like? Were they able to do these magic stunts? She was a pale skinned girl in her early 20s, yet I didn't dare to even start with her of how serious she looked. She had long brown hair tied to a ponytail, deep brown eyes brought out her facial features. She was a beauty with an armour on her.
"For Satan's sake..." Armen groaned, I noticed his long claws dig into the bubble beneath him. Bella and Mona barely contained under him as he tried to not crush them, remaining to stand above their kneeling bodies. Mona was a fairy, but rarely left Bella's side.
"Watch the bubble. If I recall correct, these are booby traps. Nasty stunts. Once you crack it it'll turn us into a statue." Mona suddenly blurted, tapping the demon Beast's claws with her wand. Her eyes deeply glared at the floating people up in the skies-- wait, more appeared? 10 of them?
Armen growled unpleasantly and retracted his claws, glaring up at the people.
Count me in as well, what the hell?
Each of them had a white and sky blue Insignia resting on their jackets, guards? It was also resembling to a winter troops for they had very warm jackets and clothes on, clearly more prepared to the weather than we were. The armada held a strong outpost and never said a word, the woman and silver haired man seemed to be their commanding officers or something.
"As I said, I recommend you stay in them. It's a precaution, surely you understand." The white haired male of the group said, all the while crossing his arms proud. "We can't just bring you to our King."
I groaned, trying to stand up. I took a grip of Alchadar's feet and sat up, noticing how odd the place I sat on felt. Then it dawned to me as I blushed, looking down and jumping up. It was Alchadar's crotch.
Why did it feel so--?
"S-sorry." I quickly apologized, noticing Alchadar straightening me up to my feet. I didn't dare to look up to his eyes, embarassed flushed on my face. Big. No way in hell. Not really to be the time to think of such a thing!
"-- You'll take us to your King?" Alchadar asked, trying to find a reasoning on my face of why I sounded embarassed but he hadn't realized anything. Good! The Demon glared up at the people examining us in the bubbles, talk about an odd sitation again. Why did we get ourselves in these?
"We will. You seem like honest people, I'm eager to know why such an odd group stumbles to our grounds." The male said, a small smile on his face as he eyed each of us. The moment our eyes met I felt a tiny tug in the back of my head, what was it? I had never felt it before. "Please, call me Daniel. I'll give you a tour, strap your seatbelts."
"Seatbelts?" Ben swallowed down his gulp, him and Chris sat in their bubble nice like little kids. It would seem they were the only people comfortable in their bubble. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I got my own partner and not Chris. Hell, I'd never get away from his grasp. I would turn to a stone more gladly.
"Sarcasm, Ben." Chris sighed, sitting more straight in the bubble. "How do we keep getting in these situations?"
I do agree one hell of a lot...
It would seem the female of the group was controlling the bubbles as she moved her hand, beginning to lead us up to the sky. I almost fell again of the impact, it was quick and rough. Yet Alchadar stadied me and looked forward, I followed his lead. His demonic stance adjusted as he didn't intend falling again.
However the sight breaking out before us was breathtaking from up there.
The snowstorm was still ravaging around the area we had stumbled on, however it would seem it wasn't the whole continent. As we flew through the skies it was clear as a day, the sun had risen about a few kilometers away. Not a cloud in sight. The snow was bright and clear, reaching to miles to no end. We passed by a frozen lake which had a skating area on it, small children and their parents were playing there.
Winter Kingdom's people?
I noticed they didn't wear anything resemblance to the Insignia of snowflake, it wasn't a dictator ship apparently. Only troopers and military wore them. Now, why were these people so close tied with the Angels? It was a thought I couldn't wrap my head around.
"-- You people came from around where? Traveled a long way?" Daniel spoke out, turning to us and continuing his abnormal flying in the air. Odd, I do have to say. Magic? Mind strenght? Spell?
"Let's just say we've been all around." Chris was laid back in his bubble, arms held behind his back as he studied the floating stranger beside us. Even if it was not such a good situation for us, the people were nice. Or at least Daniel was. "Can't say we really come from anywhere."
"So, travelers?" Daniel's interest rose as he flew to Chris' side, eyeing the Demon Slayer from head to toe. I knew there wasn't such trust yet between one another, yet this male seemed awful curious of us. Almost as if he hadn't done so in a long time. "You're traveling for what reason exactly?"
"You'll probably see." Praxina pointed out, I noticed their sudden alliance with Dagon and the bubble. Dagon was sitting on the ground... looking very displeased yet Praxina's body leaning to him was a sign that she was only able to tolerate him long enough that way. Praxina was standing and that way gaining her distance.
"Still not telling, huh?" Daniel chuckled, flying over to Praxina's and Dagon's bubble. Even if the Elf princess wasn't too fazed by it, I couldn't say the same of the Demon below her. The red crimson eyes examined each of his movements, trying to catch one wrong one to act. "Don't get me wrong for asking, we just... don't get a lot of visitors like you people. At least, not so colorful and different."
"I don't wonder why." Dagon scoffed, arms tightly wrapped around his chest. A sign of discomfort, as I had grown to know. He eyed the bubble and gave a small poke to it, yet remained to not test out the theory of turning into a stone. "You people always this welcoming to strangers?"
"Some of them." The woman said, a small evil look in her face. Well, someone clearly wasn't too fond of us. "And some of them we don't give a chance." She continued to lead us through the skies, I noticed a Kingdom resting on a hill pop up to a view. It was huge. Beautiful.
"Harsh..." Ben sighed, the sentence evident that there might haven't been even a chance given of turning to a stone. Almost as if on cue we noticed a field of pointy rocks rest near the castle... statues. My eyes lingered on them as I put my hands against the bubble, shocked. They left their enemies so out in the open? Just frozen in time and place?
"-- You've managed to turn the creatures of the Underworld to stone?" Alchadar spoke out beside me, I glanced to notice him eyeing the stones as well. Although, his look a little more surprised and hesitant. Dozens of Beasts and other Underworld's armada rested on the graveyard of the statues, stopped in place and time. Was it a rare occasion to do them that?
"It only needs a soul to be able to do so, so yes." Daniel flew to our bubble, turning his attention to the endless field of very different people turned to a stone. Very, very scary. "Even those low-minded beasts seem to have one." He grinned, satisfied. He was mostly looking at Alchadar who slowly nodded to his answer, and then he looked at me. The tug was still there. It almost made my eyes narrow, but I decided against it. It was my wild imagination.
"Watch who you call Beast." Armen growled low, snapping his jaw. Daniel turned to look at the Beast and Bella and Mona, flying to them next. Even though Armen didn't like his calculating eyes one bit, showing his teeth in return.
"Oh, a Holy weapon? I haven't seen one in Beastmode yet, interesting." Daniel eyed the creature while holding his chin, taking in the big size difference and his body shape. Armen growled and snapped his jaw, yet Daniel didn't even flinch. "Such a marvelous being, Demons sure have interesting pulls in their sleeves. No offence." He quickly looked to Alchadar and Dagon, the Demon brothers not as much offended as Armen snarling in his face behind the bubble.
"Is he sane...?" Bella whispered to Mona, the fairy shook her head in disbelief.
"-- We're here."
As if on cue the woman and the soldiers flew down, landing on a huge platform in front of the castle. It was a lone platform in high height- on both sides awaited a deadly long drop. We were still in the bubbles and being transported inside the Winter Kingdom's castle, the place almost too magical to exist.
"Whoa..."
Praxina said it. The place was magnificent. Huge, was an understatement. It was humongous. Built as tall as the mountain was, and evidently the black and white steel holding it together made it stand out and be able to hold the freezing temperatures. The architests must be living their glorious lives, because the details were on point. It had snowflakes and clouds embedded to the ground and walls, as well paintings and lighting was gold. Breathless.
The group that had taken us took us through a long corridor, typical as I had became known of castles.
We stood behind two huge wooden doors, Daniel and the female nodded to the guards standing before it. It was their cue to move and push the doors open, revealing a huge room with an open space before it. And behind it was two thrones, each had a sitter. A woman and a male. The King and the Queen. It would seem our presence was expected as I noticed the guards in the further end of the rooms, probably a ten more. What a welcoming committee, I have to admit.
The bubbles were still there as we stopped moving, I noticed the group behind us bowing. A sign to greet the royalty.
"-- My liege." Daniel begun, taking slow steps to stand before us. His outpost strong and sure as his arm was extended to our direction. "These people are the ones that wanted to meet you."
The King was a man in his 60s, looking through his hazel blue almost annoyed of us. He wore a marvelous red cloak that rested on his back, and the jewelry and clothing only added to his authority of a King. Not to mention his marvelous golden crown. Strong, wealthy and powerful. The look he was giving us almost made me shiver.
"Who are you?" The King asked, a deep alcohol burned voice raspy. It made me a little jumpy. "And why do you wish to meet me? In the middle of nowhere?"
A clear show of power. He truly was a King of the Northern people.
"It's a pleasure to meet you King Stuart." Alchadar spoke out behind me, I glanced back to notice his arm put on his chest. A sign of respect towards him. I noticed the king raise an eyebrow, even I didn't know his name. Damn, this Demon had lived far too long to know these. "We've come a long way to meet you. As a request from someone... but as of, we're here asking for your help."
... Mom.
"Help? It would seem you're handling pretty much already. Concidering the variety you people are." King Stuart spoke out, resting his arms on the supports beside the throne. He was calculative and wondering, yet seemed almost not caring. Not a King I thought I'd meet, but I had got to sed this day.
"I wouldn't think it's as significant as our cause..." Praxina's voice rang in the air, her arms tightly crossed as she watched the situation unfolding before her. As a princess to the Elf throne she seemed to know the atmostphere and pick up on it, her eyes calculative yet strong.
"Your cause?" The Queen beside the King asked, a small dog rested in her lap. I noticed the Queen's long yet warm blue dress, and a similar red cloak to his husband on her shoulders. She seemed like a lot softer person than the King, her expression a lot more wondering and surprised of our sudden presences. It would seem opposites do attract. "I'm sorry, who are you again?"
"Pardon our rudeness, your Highness." Chris bowed in his bubble, or the best he could. Not the Queen... "We're the Alpha team for short. Surely the word has spread in this part of the world of our cause. We're gathering troopers and soldiers from all around the world to win over the Demon Kingdom and put King Belial out of his misery." The Demon Slayer said as a small context, pretty well I say. I smiled a little and grabbed my hips, confident it was enough.
"So I've heard..." The King rose an eyebrow, not amazed of what he heard. King Stuart wrapped his hands together and lent forward in his throne, looking at us stern. The Queen puzzled beside him. "If my memory serves me correct one similar case to this had happened during the previous King Max. That is, until we had been betrayed and lost countless lives for nothing. Am I correct?"
"Yes. The Black Phoenix." Alchadar spoke out, stern and strong. I could feel his breath shudder as he collected himself, it almost made sad to know he had to recall these again. "I was the commanding officer of the armada 3. My troopers' were meant to attack King Belial's headquarters, but we never made it as far." And no wonder, I had never known this.
"Was it ever found out who betrayed you?" Daniel spoke out interested, his presence very well added to the topic. It brought something out in him, it was a fact.
"Silence." King Stuart swung his hand to Daniel's direction. He didn't like the fact Daniel interrupted him. The white haired male beside us nodded to King Stuart, returning to stand there beside us his arms crossed behind his back. None the less, his eyes and ears very open. "I do agree that the Demon Kingdom is a growing issue and the King has gone even mad. Not to mention, things are bad as it seems if his own sons are planning on taking control over the throne," His eyes noted Dagon and Alchadar's presence, his nod of respect given to them obvious. "However it's still uncertain to know would we be betrayed this time. If I would agree the history might repeat itself, resulting in countless lives being lost again for nothing. Not to mention, would King Belial lose it this time and destroy the rest of the world in his rampage?"
My eyes widened in shock. King Stuart said no. What? How could that be?
"You're saying no?" Ben asked a little unsure, his hopes dying down. I could feel getting slightly frustrated.
"Don't get me wrong. You seem like honest and good people, I admire what you've been doing for the past couple of months. It's the uncertainty that defines my conclusion, there is really not knowing, now is there?" King Stuart ran a hand down his face, almost burned down of the decision. It was for his people, I get that. To protect his own. However I didn't get the fact how quickly it was made. And on what terms.
It was agreed to be said as a last result...
"I was really hoping it wouldn't come down to this..." A sigh left my lips as I closed my eyes. It took really in me to put it all in to words. This was my mother's last request and I would sure as hell put it to use. She wanted us to get their help in this war, so I will try everything in my power to do so.
"Go Faith." I heard Bella whisper, it made me smile a little.
I could feel all eyes on me, the King and Queen's mostly eyeing my body. I was the quietest one, a human to the eye to the very least. Hell, I didn't know would I believe myself.
My eyes snapped open.
"-- I'm Faith, the daughter of Araciel and Lailah. The heir to the throne of Heaven and the Earth. My mother said as her last dying wish to come here and ask your help in winning this war," I looked through the bubble, eyeing the King stern as if the barrier was never there. "Saying you owe it to us."
It was silence.
The sound of the castle's lit candles' fire the only thing making any sound.
I kept my gaze sharp in King Stuart's gaze, noticing how he took in the words. His hazel blue eyes fixed in mine. I noticed his thumbs playing together, as a train wreck thought rummaged his mind. He tried to fight my confidiality and narrow his eyes, yet I narrowed mine twice as bad. It was my mother we were talking about, and I didn't dare to be wrong.
"... You do seem awful familiar to the Araciel I knew of, girl." King Stuart eyed my facial expression and the color of my hair, almost in a glare. He leant fully back in his throne, amused look in his face as his arm rose up. "However I don't trust in words alone. I trust facts. If you really are an Angel and probably the last of your kind show me proof," He looked to the woman standing behind us, nodding. And suddenly, the bubble disappeared around me and Alchadar. We dropped to the ground and stood up straight- cold! "And transform."
My eyes narrowed even more. That old butt!
"You trust these people in this room?" Alchadar spoke out behind me, walking a step forward to stand beside me. Always cautious, huh? "The information we've just given you is enough to have my Father come through those ice barriers. Not to mention, seeing her in her Angel form." He said deep and strong, not leaving space for doubt and misjudgment. I shared him a glance, it might be true. Were these people enough trustworthy to be shown such a thing?
"My word stands in this Castle. Rest assured, my strange friends." King Stuart answered to Alchadar, leaning forward to rest his hands on his feet. A sudden excitement in his look. "If what you say is true then you should know Winter Kingdom was the closest ally to the Heaven. They helped us and we helped them. Close relatives, if you may. The only thing different was our races, yet it didn't matter." The King nodded in my direction, eager to prove me wrong. I noticed it immediately. And it made me arrogant as hell. "Now, prove me wrong."
I grinned.
Good thing the bubble's away.
So I can kill him after this.
"With pleasure." And then, my eyes closed. It had been a while already and I could feel it- the Holy light eager to accept me. I felt the pressure in my chest unload and the light shine bright again. It consumed my mind and my limbs, spreading warmness around my body. Even if I had done it a few times already. It never ceased to amaze me. I noticed the familiar flapping behind me, knowing the transformation was complete. I opened my eyes and noticed the amazements, trying to land down again. So it would seem I was going to be an entertainment always everywhere I go. A sigh left me as I stood there now, pointing towards the King. "Now, do you believe me? Gosh, always so difficult."
I clicked my heels and adjusted the dress to hide me better, even if I believe it only brought out more of my curves. Unnerving thought, but I couldn't affect my appearences.
"By the God..." King Stuart stood up, the Queen slowly following his lead. Once I looked at them again I saw mad nodding, almost relieved faces. "You looked exactly like human... marvelous Lailah and Araciel." He clapped. To himself? Or to my parents? Didn't matter, I was confused.
I slowly grabbed my hips and stared, eyeing Alchadar all the while. My Demon partner was as clueless as me. Then I shared a glance to everyone behind me, noticing shrugs and wide stares. Everyone were dumbfounded, good. I wasn't the only one.
"... Do we have your support?" Alchadar asked, his eyebrow raised a little. Yet the Demon decided to cross his arms and play it off, trying to look adapted to the shifted situation again. He failed bad, but refused to see it. It made me snort.
"-- Ah, yes. You have our full support, the Winter Kingdom will follow your lead. Lailah pulled a wise card for your good." King Stuart said calm, all the while he got out of his stern-self and begun to come down the stairs towards us. I smiled and looked at the others, mostly to Alchadar. It had worked. And I was relieved to no end, this was our last stop. The cheers of Chris and Ben were evident- the tense atmostphere finally gone. "And more or so we have a surprise of our own. Daniel. Come over here."
I was a little dumbfounded as I followed the King stop a few feet from us, and then noticed the hesitant steps of Daniel beside us. The male did as told and walked up to the King, a slightly annoyed and knowing face rested on his facials. Our eyes met again as I was confused to no end, the tug back. What surprise?
What was this?
"You're not alone, Daniel. The proof's standing right in front of you." The Queen smiled and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, looking at me and my Angel form in awe. I was staring eyes wide of confusion and curiosity- alone? "C'mon, show the poor girl." She tapped his back- hard.
That must've hurt!
Yet I almost jumped back of the white blinding light caused by it, Daniel was glowing? I couldn't look at it but covered my eyes, the tug in my brain turned to a headache. There was something- he was something. The moment soon came to an end as I noticed the light going away, my curiosity got the best of me as I looked up.
My eyes widened for the 100th time.
Daniel was standing there. White wings and white outfit shone on his marvelous body made of God. A familiar Insignia imbedded to his forehead- the Angel insignia. The shock almost took me out as I failed to stand, Alchadar's arm supported me. Daniel was an Angel? How, why? Was it what I was feeling? He was the same as me?
I'm not alone.
"No way in hell." Praxina drooled inside her bubble, staring eyes wide.
"Two Angels?" Ben asked as well, looking puzzled at Chris. They seemed to voice my exact wonders. "Possibly the only ones alive... if they don't have someone hidden in their basement." He whispered, I noticed the turning heads in warning. A shrug was earned.
"-- I figured I was feeling something odd in you." Daniel crossed his arms strong, I noticed the sharp spear resting in his armpit. His deep blue eyes rested in mine a little amused and curious. It would seem he had a close-weapon as well. "Glad to meet you, Faith."
I narrowed my eyes and smiled, grabbing my hips a bit tighter.
"Daniel. I could say the same. Although I could hardly tell," I slowly walked forward, unsure. I noticed Daniel allow it, returning the curiosity. I eyed the way his wings were a little bigger and so were his body- figured for a male. I studied his outfit, a lot more practical in close combat than mine since he had pants and a tight shirt on. But the resemblance to the jewelry was there, his Holy light similar to mine. Once I had a once-over I smiled, crossing my arms. "You seemed like you were part of the Winter Kingdom? How come you could fly without your wings?"
"An ability he has learned once being raised among us." King Stuart said proud, nodding to the female and the troopers standing in the background. I noticed the others being released from their bubble prisons, some of them not paying attention and came slamming down to their asses. Hint being the Demon Slayer and the Shapeshifter. "Although, it's just to cover his wings. An invincibility cloak." The King gave me an example and made himself disappear. I stared wide, trying to find where he had gone off.
"-- Not practical if you know where to look." Daniel said then, a hand reaching forward and grabbing something big. I heard the King laugh awkwardly as he finally revealed himself, his back of the head resting in Daniel's palm.
"... Wait, you can transform your wings only?" I asked shocked. It was an ability I didn't know, looking at Alchadar. The Demons could only transform them- was it the same tactic or what?
"You can't?" Daniel rose an eyebrow, I returned it and shook my head. "Wait, how old were you again?" He asked, crossing his arms strong. His deep blue eyes examining my body-- like that of a child!
How dare he!
"20...?" I slowly answered, suspicious of his reaction. "You?"
"20. Although I've been that a while, that's when our life-long status activates. I'll turn 21 in about 100 years from now." Daniel wondered and looked to the ceiling, trying to notice any faults in his answer. My jaw dropped none the less.
100!?
"What!?" I asked, shocked. Was I going to have the same- would I only turn 21 in about a few hunderd years from now on? What life-long status? Why was I so out again?
"Now, now sweethearts." The Queen had found her way beside us, wrapping her arms around us. I yelped as I was pulled in to a hug against her chest. Damn, that woman had a strong grip. I noticed Daniel's hair in my face, our heads very close. I froze. "You need to come along and soon get married. It wouldn't be good to start arguing in the early stages, right?"
It finally dawned to me. And once it did so it did Daniel's.
"Married!?" Praxina yelled in horror.
"Wait, what- no!" I tried to rip myself away, the arm strangling me not moving. What were her arms made of!?
"Janet, way too soon. No way in God." Daniel tried as well, but managed to pull himself away. I groaned and gave in to my wings, they easily ripped me free. I decided to stay in the air... not so sure would the ground be any safer. I looked at Queen Janet and the King Stuart almost questioning, what was the meaning of this.
I flew over to my team and to Alchadar. I couldn't fail to notice the look on his face. I wasn't blaming him the slightest. This was nothing I was planning on happening tonight. I put a reassuring hand on his arm, it was tense as ever. But no words left him as he stared, unsure of the situation.
"Surely you want to keep your bloodline going?" Queen Janet asked, a pleading look on her face. It threw me off guard entirely. "I know it's too soon since you're both young, but it's good to think about it. You're probably the last of your kind, and as a miracle opposite gender. A blessing."
... Now, I don't like that.
A shiver went down my spine of just the thought of multiplying. Now? Being pregnant and carrying babies- Daniel's babies? Now, that didn't set well with me. I just met this person, I was happy. We were the same. But I wasn't all in to the idea of us being forced together- of sheer tie and blood bond. To make our kind survive? Hell, no way in hell.
Especially since I had already set my eyes to a certain someone. Someone that I had fallen for dearly and without a doubt. Someone, who was holding my hand tight so I wouldn't explode to their faces. Not expert, I know it. However I had grown to know of myself... I didn't like being told what to do.
So these strangers weren't in my list of troubles yet.
"... How about not now?" Daniel cut out the tense atmostphere, sighing. He untangled his arms and turned to the King and Queen, stern look on his face. "More important things need our attention, the upcoming war. When are we expected it to happen?" He turned to me and the others, trying to avert the conversation elsewhere.
"You're our last stop." Chris said stern beside us, his outpost tense. It would seem he didn't quite appreciate the conversation either.
"A few days the very least. We'll spread out the information and arriving coordinates to other tribes and cities. The moment they arrive, we come up with the war-plan and divide. Each to their own task. It will be hard and there will be losses." Alchadar spoke out behind me, his hand leaving mine as he set it to rest on my shoulder. I looked up at him. "But we will try to make the losses as much to our Kingdom than anything."
"Hell yes." Dagon spoke out after a long time, fist pumping the air. The Demon brothers stood side by side, an odd combination I didn't know I'd get to see. Strong and powerful. They were not backing down from this, both had really good reasonings behind it. The question was, was this Kingdom as well?
"Very well. We'll begin the preparations." King Stuart spoke out, turning on his heels. "Send out the word.
