Chapter 6

Disclaimer: Updated for this will likely be slow, as it is low down on my priorities list, but I started it and I'll be damned if I don't finish it.

Luke quickly finished up his work with R2 and left for Obi-Wan's hut. It was just a short speeder trip away, but the entire time Luke's mind was racing, thinking about his lightsaber. What color will it be? Luke wondered. Maybe a classic blue or green. Or what about yellow or purple?

The young boy was so lost in his thoughts of his own saber that he almost passed Obi-Wan's hut. He abruptly stopped the speeder and eagerly hopped out.

Obi-Wan was there outside of his hut awaiting Luke's arrival. "Welcome young Luke," Obi-Wan greeted.

"Hello Master," Luke replied with a bow. Obi-Wan could feel the excitement radiating off the young boy.

"I take it you're excited to construct your own light saber?" Obi-Wan asked with a chuckle.

"Excited would be an understatement."

Obi-Wan smiled. He was like his father in more ways than one. "Come along," Obi-Wan said motioning for Luke to follow him. They began walking away from the hut.

"Where are we going?" Luke asked confused. He thought that he would construct the saber in Obi-Wan's hut.

"Well you need to find your kyber crystal first."

Luke gave a confused look to his master. "But there are no kyber crystal caves on Tatooine. The Empire would be excavating them if there were."

Obi-Wan sighed. "That's not necessarily true Luke. The Jedi didn't keep records of all places to get kyber crystals. Only those on the Council knew all the locations. We did this to ensure that if something like what's happening right now happened, we would still have the ability to find crystals for our sabers."

"Makes sense." They walked in silence for a few moments longer. "Well where is this cave? We've been walking for a while now."

"Probably another hour walk," Obi-Wan replied.

Luke's face fell. "Why didn't we take my speeder then? We would be there by now!"

"Patience Luke. A Jedi must learn to be patient and trust in the Force." Luke huffed but didn't say anything further. The two trudged on in silence as they made their way to the cave.

After about fifty more minutes of walking, Obi-Wan stopped abruptly. "You must continue the journey on your own," he said looking at Luke.

"What do you mean? I don't even know where to go!"

"Calm Luke. Listen to the force, listen for you crystal calling out for you."

Luke closed his eyes and focused hard. For a moment there was nothing, just silence. Then, out of nowhere, he heard something. It was faint, but he could hear it, almost like music. He opened his eyes and began walking in the direction of the sound.

As he walked further, the sound grew louder.Soon he reached a cave, and could hear the call from deep inside. This must be the cave Obi-Wan was talking about, Luke thought. He made his way inside, and could hear the sound getting louder, until it was almost deafening. He looked around for the source and saw something twinkling in the ceiling.

He looked at it for a moment. He knew this had to be his kyber crystal, but he had no clue how he would reach it. He thought for a few more minutes, and suddenly he face palmed. The force, duh, he thought shaking his head.

Luke closed his eyes and reached out his hand, focusing on the crystal. He could feel it start to move. After a few more seconds, the crystal shot out of the ceiling and into his hand. He opened his eyes and looked at it smiling. He placed the crystal in his pocket and made his way back to Obi-Wan.

"So, did you get your kyber crystal?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Yup!" Lux replied beaming from ear to ear. He reached into his pocket and pulled the crystal out, showing it to Obi-Wan.

"Very good, now let us return to my hut and you can construct your lightsaber."

The walk back was much quicker for Luke. When they reached the hut, Luke rushed inside. Obi-Wan just chuckled and followed him in.

Luke took a seat on a chair in the living room. "Stay here," Obi-Wan instructed before walking into his bedroom. He returned carrying a box full of parts. He placed it in front of Luke.

"How do I make it?" Luke asked looking at the various parts.

"You must envision what it will look like in your mind. Once you have it, the force will do the rest."

Luke nodded and closed his eyes again, this time focusing on a lightsaber, his lightsaber. After a moment, he saw it, and when he opened his eyes he gasped at what he saw. The lightsaber that he envisioned was now floating in front of him, waiting to be put together.

"Good Luke! Now introduce your crystal to the mix and put it all together," Obi-Wan instructed.

Luke reached into his pocket and pulled out his crystal, and it floated into place. Then he made a motion with his hands and the pieces fit together. the constructed saber fell into his hands. "Woah..." the boy gasped. "What color do you think it will be?" He asked looking up at Obi-Wan.

"Well why don't you activate it and see?"

Luke hesitated for a moment, and then finally activated it. the blade shot out and it was a beautiful emerald color. Obi-Wan smiled. He thought the color suited the boy perfectly. He preferred negotiation to battle, and had a stronger understanding of the force than he did combat.

"Come on Luke, it's getting dark. Let's get you home." The duo left the hut and headed back to Luke's.

Padme Amidala was loading up her little starship, a modified A-wing with a cargo hold. It allowed her to fit in more supplies and more of her personal belongings. She saw Bail walking up to her and she waved to him. He returned the gesture.

"So, all ready to go?" He asked.

"Yup, I'm all packed and ready," Padme responded. "How goes the rest of the packing?"

"We've got all but one transport fueled and packed. Once it's ready, we'll make our way out."

"Sounds good. I'll see you there." Bail smiled and turned to walk away, but Padme stopped him. "Bail... I uhhh have some... business to take care of before I can come to Yavin. I'll meet you there, but I don't know when."

Bail nodded. He knew what she was referring to. "I understand Padme. Just get there when you can."

"Thank you." Padme hugged Bail, but it was short lived. The alarm in the hangar went off. They both looked at each other and turned to sprint towards the command center.

"What's going on?" Bail asked.

A man looked up from a computer, his face a pale white. "F-f-f..."

"Spit it out boy!"

"Four Imperial Destroyers have entered sector five..." the man said shakily.

Padme and Bail both stared on in shock. "A-are you sure?" Padme asked.

"Yes. I rescanned three times and they showed up on the radar each time."

"But how would they even know we're here?!" Bail asked to no one in particular.

"Look," Padme started, "it doesn't matter how they found us, what matters is that they did find us. We need to get out of here NOW before the can send too many fighters."

"You're right," Bail said walking to the stations comm system. "Code Red! I repeat Code Red! This is not a drill! All pilots to your fighters, everyone else on the transports. We leave NOW!"

Everyone that hadn't already made their way to a ship was soon on board. The meager rebel fleet took off, and was met with hundreds of tie fighters.

"Fighters protect our transports!" Bail shouted over the comm.

"Yessir!" Came the response from nearly everyone.

As the fighters cleared path for the transports, Padme was trying her best to stay out of the line of fire. She was a good enough pilot, but not great with dogfights. She preferred if she could get out of there without firing a shot.

The ships made it out of the atmosphere, losing only a few fighters along the way. Suddenly there was a loud blast to the right. Padme looked on in horror as one of the transports exploded, killing everyone on board. They were down to two transports and just a handful of fighters.

Padme decided to block out everything and set her hyperdrive. She was planning to make her escape ASAP. After she finished setting it, she was about to punch it when she looked up and saw a tie fighter closing in on her fast. She panicked and pressed the blaster button. The shots were perfectly aimed, albeit accidentally, and the tie exploded. A path was now clear for her, and she punched it. Once she was safely in hyperspace she let out her breath. She hadn't realized she was holding it. Hopefully the transports made it out, she thought worriedly.

However, a certain pilot took notice of her just before she made the jump. He could feel who was inside and knew it was her. He stealthily dropped down behind her, tailing close behind. When he saw her make the jump to light speed, he quickly calculated where she could be going. It was a trajectory almost 180 degrees opposite the rest of the fleet. He smirked as he figured out where he was going, and he set his hyperdrive.
