Chapter 3

15 Years Later

It had been 15 years to the date since that fateful day, the day where Padme's whole life changed. From the destruction of the Republic and the announcement of the Empire, to losing the love of her life, to having to part with her children. Padme tried to forget all of this, bit never could. Eventually she learned to just live with it, and be grateful that she and her children had survived this long, even if they were not together, for she knew their paths would cross again sooner or later.

Padme had been unable to keep in contact with Obi-Wan and her children due to the possibility of the Empire intercepting the communication and finding both the location of her and her children. She did not know if they were still alive, but something deep down told her they were. She just wished she could've been there to see them grow up, to see their first steps, their first words, the first time when they learned to use the force...

Padme was jarred from her thoughts when she heard a knock on her door. "Come in" she replied.

In walked Bail Organa, one of her closest friends from the days when they were both senators in the Republic Senate. "Padme the meeting is starting soon. You coming?"

"I'll be right there Bail, I'll meet you guys there." Since the Empire had taken over, Padme, along with Bail and some other unsatisfied senators had formed the Rebel Alliance. It was like her child, she remebered when it was just her, Bail and a few others. Now it was a working group of more than 5,000 people attempting to take back power from the Empire. They all knew that 5,000 was an insignificant amount compared to the Empire's millions of storm troopers, but they were gaining more members every week.

Padme made her way into the conference room of the Rebel base. "Sorry I'm late," she apologized.

"It's alright," said Bail, "Now let us get down to business. We all know that the base here on Dantooine is getting too small to accommodate our growing numbers." Mumbles of agreement were heard through the room.

"Where do you propose we move the base?" someone in the back asked.

Bail turned to Padme and nodded. She waled to the front of the room and pressed a button on her remote, and a hologram of a planet popped up. "Yavin-4, one of the moons of the planet Yavin Prime," she said. "It is in the Outer Rim and not under imperial control. The planet of Yavin is uninhabited due to its harsh climate so the empire has stayed away from it and its moons, making it the perfect place for our new base." She pressed another button and a stone, pyramid shaped structure appeared. "The ancient Massassi people built these temples on Yavin-4, but went extinct thousands of years ago. The temples still stand today, and would make for plenty of room for ships, equipment, and people. Once we fill one, we move to the next. Any objections?" No one responded.

"Great," said Bail, "we'll make arrangements to leave ASAP. If you all could help spread the word, that would be great. Unless anyone has any questions, our meeting is complete."

Everyone started to file out of the conference room, and make their way back to whatever they were doing. Padme and Bail stayed behind.

"That went pretty well," said Bail.

"I agree," Padme replied, "although I wish we didn't have to leave. It's risky, the Empire could see us."

"That is true, but you know we don't currently have the funds to expand our base here. On Yavin-4 we would never have to worry about building new structures, they're all already built."

Padme sighed, "I know, I just can't help but feel something could go wrong."
