Chapter Twenty-Seven: But If He Breaks Her Heart...

"Please stop screaming."

I kept on screaming.

Jordan turned to his friends "How are we going to get her to stop screaming?"

The two of them only pathetically shrugged in reply.

Honestly, you can't blame me for screaming. It was only seven o'clock at a school night, and I was innocently going inside the safety and comfort of my home. What I didn't expect was three huge rolling executive office chairs right in front of me. When I turned on the lights, I suddenly heard a creak of the floorboards. When I turned, there were the three huge chairs that I definitely know aren't supposed to be there. All at once, the chairs turned around in perfect unison.

Of course it was them. Who else would it be? Both Bennett and Declan sat slumped in their chairs with a rather bored but pissed look on their face. I would've been scared if it weren't for Jordan. Suddenly my screaming turned into laughter. I doubled over, laughing at him, tears coming into my eyes.

"I-is she laughing?" Bennett asked in confusion.

"She was screaming a minute ago." Declan said.

I tried to calm myself down. But when I looked back at Jordan, I burst out laughing again. I couldn't do it, I couldn't stop laughing. It wasn't possible.

Jordan, the hilarious idiot he is, was the only one who took this seriously, his voice being the one who said, "We've been expecting you." He was wearing a top hat over his dirty blonde hair, with a monocle on his left eye and wore a fake mustache under his lip. And just to top it all off, he was petting a stuffed animal of a cat.

"Naomi, be serious for a second," Jordan told me.

I said between laughs. "It's hard to take you seriously when you're wearing a mustache and holding a stuffed animal."

Jordan gasped. "Snowball isn't just any stuffed animal, aren't you Snowball?" He cooed, petting the animal.

I had to ask. "Where did you buy this... Snowball?"

"I won him in the claw crane game while we were out buying the chairs," Jordan answered distractedly, as he continued to fawn over Snowball. "Who was won in the stupid claw game? You were! Yes, you were!"

"He won him after a couple of tries," Bennett told me.

Declan snorted at that. "Yeah, after a couple dozen times."

"Hey!" Jordan said in defense. "Those games are hard, okay?"

"Yeah, but you didn't have to get the hat, mustache and monocle too."

"I had too!" He said. "You can't do this-" gesturing the whole set up "-without the whole package. And you guys were supposed to wear it, too."

"I was not going to wear a mustache." Declan growled.

"Wait," I said, finally remembering what Jordan just said. "You said you bought Snowball while you were out buying the chairs. You actually bought chairs for this?"

Bennett was the one who answered since Jordan was too busy cuddling Snowball and Declan was just too bored. "Yeah, and they weren't the cheap kind either. Jordan wanted to buy the fancy executive chairs."

"For effect!" Jordan defended.

"We had to haul these onto my car and lug it over to your house." Declan explained. "Then this idiot here-" gesturing to the idiot with a top hat and mustache "-had us practice turning all at once."

"For effect!" Jordan repeated.

"It was actually harder than it sounds," Bennett said, scratching his head.

"What I want to know," I said, "Is how did you get in?"

"Oh, that's easy," Jordan said, playing with his mustache. "We rang the doorbell."

"You just rang the doorbell?"

"Yeah, your mom was more than happy to let us in."

"I have cookies!" My mom sang, coming out of the dining room carrying a plate of cookies.

"Ooh, cookies," Jordan said jumping out of his seat and grabbing a handful of cookies in each hand. He sat back to his chair and as he ate one cookie, he pretended to feed Snowball one. Declan and Bennett said thanks to my mom as they each grabbed a cookie from the plate.

My mom turned to see me and her smile widened. "Oh Naomi, when did you get here?"

"Just a moment ago," I said slowly. "Didn't you hear the scream?"

"Oh," she said, getting it. "I knew that scream must have come from you."

Ladies and gentlemen, my mom.

"Here, have a cookie. Freshly baked." She said, holding out the plate to me, I politely declined.

"Mom, why did you let the guys in?" I asked her.

"Well, they told me they wanted to give you a little surprise. And after that little "fiasco" we had when having dinner with the Myers, I couldn't just decline. They were so cute bringing in these chairs, especially Jordan being in character-" she pinched Jordan's cheek.

He tipped his hat to her. "Always a pleasure, ma'am."

"Aw, the pleasure is all mine, sir," she said, and to my embarrassment, she made a slight curtsy. She turned to me and mouthed, He's so adorable.

My dad came down the stairs and looked at the whole scene before him. There were three huge chairs with three of my friends, one of them wearing a mustache and top hat. But when his eyes landed on my mom, more specifically, the cookies, that's what got him.

"Ooh, cookies," he said, walking over to my mom and grabbing a few. "I knew I smelled something good."

"Wait, wait, wait." I said, having them all pause form eating their cookies. "So let me get this straight. You actually let three guys come into our own home to scare the crap out of me, and you bake them cookies?"

My mom thought over that then nodded. "Yes, that's about right."

I groaned and hit my head repeatedly on the door.

"And Naomi, why did you get here so late? You said you were going to come back over an hour ago." My dad pointed out.

Finally, some actually parenting.

"I went to eat some burgers with Parker after tutoring finished." I told him. "I guess we lost track of time, sorry."

"It's alright," my dad said, waving me off. "As long as you're here safe."

"No, it is not alright," Jordan said, but his mouth was stuffed with cookies so it came out like garbled mess.

"Yeah, he's right," Bennett said, somehow understanding Jordan's language that humans are still yet to decipher. "You were suppose to come here immediately after tutoring, and instead you come here at seven o'clock."

"I already told my parents that I was going to go eat somewhere and that they could go ahead eating without me, they were okay with it." I told them.

"That's not the point," Jordan argued.

"Yes it is!" I argued back.

"Naomi, I will not tolerate with either yelling or arguing in this house, especially among guests and their hosts," my mom said, now looking at all four of us.

I sighed. "Sorry. But can you guys go upstairs? We-" glaring at the guys "-have something discuss."

"Wait, are you sending us to our room?" My dad said in disbelief.

"But we didn't do anything wrong," my mom practically whined.

"No, no, no," I assured them. "You guys are not in trouble. The four of us are just going to have a little grown up talk, that's all. You guys can bring the cookies up to your room, maybe watch a movie. But don't be up past your bedtime, it's a work night."

Both of my parents were left dumbfounded and speechless. They opened their mouths to say something, but they closed it shut. Then they slowly nodded their heads and turned to begin climbing up the stairs. I heard my dad mumbled something about how he hasn't been sent to his room since he was a teenager. I waited for the shut of their bedroom door before I turned back to the boys.

"What is wrong with you guys?" I demanded angrily.

"What is wrong with us?" Jordan asked incredulously. "What's wrong with you?"

My fists clenched. "You're not my parents!"

"No, we're worse!" Jordan barked back.

For some reason, I flinched at that. Jordan noticed this and slumped in his chair, not looking at me in the eye.

Declan growled. "Have you forgotten that your so called Parker-"

"He's not my Parker," I corrected harshly, interrupting him.

"-is one of your bullies?" Declan reminded me. "He's your enemy!"

"No, he's not!" I defended him, making them all flinch at my volume. Then I said quietly, "I mean, not anymore."

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean, is that he apologize," I stated, matter-of-fact. "He told me he was sorry for bullying for me. He apologized for both himself and the entire team." I said, before quietly muttering to myself, "Even though the entire team won't mean it."

"You can't really believe that," Jordan argued.

"Yes, I did. I told him I forgive him, because I do."

"So you forgive both him and the whole team? The whole football team including Raymond, after all of those years of bullying you?" Declan demanded in disbelief.

"Of course not!" I said, before said quietly. "Just him. I only forgave him."

"Naomi," Bennett said calmly. "Have you ever thought that Parker is actually playing you?"

My eyes narrowed at him. "Excuse me?"

He sighed. "Well, think about it Naomi. He's been bullying you for years, can't you remember all those times they've bullied you and he was there, laughing along with them? And then he came out of nowhere and suddenly wants to be friends with you?"

"You guys came out of nowhere and suddenly wants to be friends with me," I retorted back.

"But that's different!" Jordan argued.

"How?" I demanded. "Three bad boys transferred to my school, and noticed the most unpopular, bullied girl in school, wanting to become friends with her. And a jock of a bully noticed the same thing, and wants to becomes friends. But that's different?"

"Well, he did it after you became popular!" Jordan said. "You were never going to get popular, but the moment you did, he jumped at the chance. No one would ever go for someone like-" He caught himself, widening his eyes when he realized what he just, well almost said. "Naomi, I didn't-"

"Yes, you did," I spat. "You meant every word."

"No, Naomi, you don't-"

"I don't get it?" I asked. "Yes, I've always thought that Parker might be in a scheme the moment he asked if I could tutor him. I'm not stupid. But that changed when I got to know him. He's not what I thought he would be. He's different. He's nice. He's sweet. He doesn't care that I'm popular or any of that."

"It's all an act, Naomi." Bennett told me quietly. "He's playing with you."

"And what if he isn't?" I demanded. "What if it really isn't an act? Have you ever thought of that? What if he really means all of it, what if he..." I paused and looked down at the jacket I was wearing, his jacket. "What if he even likes me?"

Jordan rolled his yes. "You can't possibly-" He stopped short and looked at me. "Who's jacket are you wearing?

I instantly reddened at him noticing it. I should have taken it off when I had the chance. Instead I hugged the jacket closer to me, getting defensive of it. "Mine." Then I straightened myself, feeling more confident. "It's mine."

Declan's eyes narrowed at them. "The last thing you'll ever own if the school's varsity jacket, especially when the entire team... wears... it." All of their eyes widened at this.

"Is that O'Neil's?" Jordan asked me.

I turned my head, refusing to answer this.

"Is. That. O'Neil's?" Jordan demanded slowly.

His voice sent shivers down my spine. I never saw Jordan this angry. It was actually frightening.

"Y-yes," I said quietly.

Declan started to mutter things under his breath, threatening Parker this, killing Parker that.

"Take it off and give it to me," Jordan ordered. "We're returning it back to him."

"No," I said, taking a step back and holding the jacket closer to me. "He gave it to me."

"And let me guess," Bennett said coldly. "He said it looks good on you."

I became redder at this. "Yeah, he did. What of it?"

All of them laughed. But it wasn't like those laughs I shared with them. It was a dark laugh, full of scorn and disbelief.

"It's a classic lie. He just gave it to you to make you like him, make you trust him. That jacket is a Trojan horse." Bennett said, referring to when the Greeks tricked the Trojans by giving them a gift of a huge wooden horse, but it was really filled with Greek soldiers ready to attack them when the Trojans were asleep.

"So are you saying I don't look good in this?" I demanded.

All of them paused, reddening themselves.

"N-no, that's not what we meant." Declan stammered.

"We only meant that he was giving you the jacket to earn your trust." Bennett explained.

"Uh-huh," I said, crossing my arms.

"But that's not the point," Jordan argued.

"Well, this is." I said, pointing at the door. "You three may leave."

"What?" All three of them asked in unison.

"I think your stay here has been expired. So I'm asking all of you to leave." I stated clearly.

"You're kicking us out?" Declan demanded.

"No," I said. "I'm asking you all to leave. But if it comes to that then, yes, I'm willing to kick you out."

"Fine then," Jordan said, standing abruptly from his chair, cookie crumbs spilling off his lap and onto the ground. "C'mon you guys."

I silently opened the door and took a step back. I watched at they each passed by me one by one.

I cleared my throat. "Don't forget your chairs."

I watched as they each passed by me one by one, once again. Then passing by me, each dragging their chairs. They parked all of the chairs at the porch and turned back to me. I stared at them, my hand gripping the door, just begging for it to close.

"We just don't want you to get hurt, Naomi." Bennett said quietly.

"Too late for that." I slammed the door in their faces.

I leaned against the door and slowly sank to the floor. I hugged my legs, pressing my knees against my forehead. I didn't want to argue with them. And I definitely didn't mean to kick them out. But they just made me so pissed off. They can't just barge into my own home just to lecture me. How dare they underestimate me. I'm not stupid, of course I was suspicious of Parker. But I'm not suspicious anymore, because there's nothing to be suspicious about. And if they don't trust me on this, then so be it.

Just before I was about to get up and head to my room, I hear talking from behind the door. I squatted on the ground, and I slightly cracked the door opened, peering outside the porch, wanting to see what happens next. The three of them haven't left the porch yet. Bennett was pacing, Jordan was spouting curses under his breath, and Declan was glaring at the door.

"If he hurts her," Declan growled lowly. "I swear-"

"You'll do what?" Jordan spat. "If you do anything to him, Naomi will never forgive you."

"It's just, I can't believe she's actually believing him," Declan said, running his hand angrily through his hair.

"None of us do," Jordan agreed.

"But how can she do that?" Declan asked.

"Can you blame her?" Bennett asked them quietly. "It's the first guy who actually shows interest her, and it ends up being one of her bullies. She can't help herself."

I could feel my cheeks warming.

"I don't buy it," Declan told them. "I'm not buying any of this."

"But what if he really does like her?" Bennett asked his friends.

"Do you really believe that?" Jordan asked. "He's bullied her for years, and now all of a sudden he likes her? It's a scam, he's playing her and then she's going to get hurt."

"She's already hurt," Bennett argued. "Doesn't she deserve at least that much? To have a crush on someone, and that someone who likes her back, or at least pretends to be. She should know what it feels like to like someone, everyone should."

"So we're just going to sit and watch her like someone, who could possibly hurt her, just because she told us to back off?" Jordan asked. "That's pretty cruel, don't you think? She might get hurt."

"This is Naomi we're talking about. She's gotten hurt more times that Declan can count-" Declan glared at Bennett at this "-but she's still Naomi."

They all nodded, knowing it's true.

"So what are you saying?" Declan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"What I'm saying," Bennett said, "is that we'll watch him closely, but at the same time keep our distance. If he likes her, okay. But if he breaks her heart..."

"We break him," Declan finished.

I gulped.

They all shared a look and nodded in agreement.

"Let's go," Jordan said. "We have to go meet up with... them." Bennett and Declan frowned at the reminded.

"I don't know what they want now," Declan muttered.

"Yeah, why can't they just leave us alone already?" Bennett said.

"Whatever they want, we have to find out ourselves," Jordan said. "They said it's important."

"Okay, c'mon you guys," Declan said.

Declan and Jordan walked down the porch and began to drag their chairs towards a black Chevy Silverado. Jordan got tired of dragging the chair. So he did the obvious thing and got on top of it, and started skating towards the truck. Declan stared at Jordan as he began to spin on the chair as it rolled towards the truck. Then he shrugged and did the same thing. I couldn't help but giggle at their stupidity but knowledge of fun.

Then I stopped short, suddenly remembering that Bennett was still on the porch. The guys yelled for him to hurry up, and he called back with the excuse that one of the wheels are jammed and how this was a crappy chair for $200. He proved this by moving the chair, awkwardly. They just told him to hurry up.

"I know you're there." Bennett said, not even looking at the door.

I silently cursed myself.

"And I know that you like him, and he might like you back," Bennett said. "But please don't hate us, we were just worried about you, okay?"

I didn't feel like talking to him, so I just replied by knocking the door three times. That made Bennett smile.

"We don't blame you for being mad at us. I have to admit, we did come a little strong on you. But don't worry about us, we can't hold a grudge... on you anyway."

I knocked the door three times again.

"See you tomorrow, Naomi. And just... just be careful."

Knock. Knock. Knock.

He gave me a slight nod then easily lift the chair and walked away. I watched as he put the chair at the back of the truck along with the other two. Then he climbed into the driver's seat and drove away.

Glancing at the clock, I read that it's almost 8 o'clock. I let out a yawn, might as we go to bed. I walked up the stairs and passed by my parent's bed room. I paused and listened in. I didn't hear any movie playing. I know that they usually watch movies before going to sleep, a habit they have when they can't fall asleep. But before I could check up on them, I heard the movie playing again. I frowned and shrugged, maybe one of them went to use the bathroom and had the movie on pause.

I went into the comforts of my own room. I took off Parker's- I mean, my jacket and hung it over a hook. Then I quickly changed into my pajamas, before climbing into bed. I stared at the ceiling for what felt like a long time. I kept on thinking of what tomorrow will be like, until I slowly closed my eyes and dreamed of it instead.

How did you guys enjoy the story? Do you think the guys are right, or that Naomi is right? I think both have good points. Well, I did write it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the chapter.

And if you guys haven't notice yet, The Good Girl's Bad Boys just reached 100,000 reads! I was watching Epic Rap Battles of History as this happened. I know, I can't believe it either. I'm barely halfway done with this book! Don't worry everyone, we still have a lot more chapters to read and enjoy. I just want to thank you all for reading this book. This means so much to me, really. If none of you have pushed me to continue writing after the first two chapters I posted and each chapter after that, I don't think I would ever be here. So thank you for reading, the book would be nothing without you.

And here's a shoutout to GrayKat101, dedicating the chapter to her, with her key prediction, and for helping me name the cat Snowball. I was going to have him be a bunny, but a cat is better. Even though I'm more of a dog person. Shhh, don't tell Jordan that though...
