Chapter Forty-Four: -Bow Down to Jordan

"But I wanted to try it too," my mom whined as she spun in the rolling chair. "After your friends did it, I've been waiting for the chance to try it myself."

I looked at my dad in disbelief. "But you too?"

My dad gave a pathetic shrug. "She made me do it."

She shook my dad's shoulder. "Honey, let's do it again!" She said, barely containing her excitement.

He let out a sigh. "Yes, sweetie."

My mom fixed her top hat, monocle and fake mustache for a bit. Then the both of them spun their chairs, facing away from me. And repeating just what they did a few minutes ago, they spun their executive chairs towards me in unison. My mom stroke Snowball- the stuffed animal white cat –that rested on her lap.

"We've been expecting you," they said together.

Ladies and gentlemen, my parents.

"Where did those chairs come from? And mom, that stuff you're wearing looks like-"

"-mine, 'cause they are," Jordan said, leaning against the wall, appearing out of nowhere. He took a bite of a brownie, and then held it out to me. "Brownie?"

"No," I said, before pausing and saying, "I mean, not right now."

"That sucks," Jordan said, popping the rest into his mouth. "It's the last one."

My mom laughed. "My, you boys ate them all already? Good thing I made a second batch."

Jordan fist pumped the air. "Yes!"

Declan came out of the dining room, glaring at Jordan. "Why did you eat the last brownie for? That was my share."

"'Cause you didn't eat it," Jordan said with an eye roll. "And how would you know it was your share anyway?"

"There were 12 brownies, meaning four for each of us. Bennett ate his four, you already downed yours the first chance you got, but I only ate three, meaning you ate my last one."

"So he can count."

He raised his fist at Jordan. "I'm going to-"

"Declan, don't fight here in front of Mr. and Mrs. Lorraine," Bennett said, making him halt from punching the brownies out of Jordan. "Save your fighting for later." Then he turned to my mom with a small smile. "Thank you so much for the brownies, you must give me the recipe sometime."

"Oh, I will. Your mother would be delighted to get it from you."

That smile vanished off Bennett's face. "Yes, of course." He then cleared his throat. "I think I heard the oven, the brownies must be done."

Her eyes widen in surprise. "They are? I didn't hear it. Well, you know what they say, time goes by when you're having fun." She emphasized that by giving another spin in the chair.

I question my genes sometimes.

"They'll be waiting for you in the dining room in a few minutes after cooling them off," she told them. "We wouldn't want another incident when Jordan got the brownies when they were still hot from the oven."

"I would," Declan said bluntly.

"Well to avoid something like that, how about I go and eat them with adult supervision? I doubt that-" Jordan was suddenly pulled back by Declan just as he was starting to walk towards the dining room. "Never mind."

They left to the kitchen, though my mom was a bit torn between taking Snowball with her or not. In the end she did, cooing over her and saying she'll give her a brownie. Yeah, I'm a bit worried about her sometimes.

"What are you guys doing here?" I asked them.

"Besides devouring your mom's brownies?" Jordan asked.

"Including my share," Declan growled.

"I wish it was vanilla though," Jordan muttered wistfully.

"No, strawberry."

"It wouldn't really be a brownie if they were either," Bennett told them.

"Oh shut up," Jordan retorted. "You're just happy it's your flavor."

Bennett shrugged. "I'm not complaining."

"You guys, focus."

"Sorry," they all said in unison.

"And not just for getting off topic," Declan added. "It's about everything else."

"Is that what you're all here for? To apologize? Well good, now that you're done, take away the rest of the brownies. Wait no, the rest of the brownies are for me. But you can take away the chairs and Snowball especially. My mom's going to freak me out if she carries that thing everywhere."

Jordan gasped. "Snowball is not-"

"-a living thing."

Jordan looked at his friends. "She said it, she actually said it."

"It's alright buddy, you had to learn it sooner or later," Bennett said, patting his back.

"Are you guys done?" I asked.

"Yes," they all said in unison.

"Thank you. Now why are you here?"

Bennett took a deep breath. "We need to talk."

There was a long silence between all of us.

"We're talking right now."

He blinked. "Yeah I know but-"

"Why would you say that when we're talking right now?"

"He was saying that for a dramatic effect," Jordan said. "Then we'd teleport to another scene, cutting into a conversation we're having."

Declan looked at him. "What are you talking about?"

"Oh c'mon," Jordan said, rolling his eyes. "Don't tell me you haven't noticed."

"Notice what?"

"Notice this."

-

"Wow, you're right," Declan said, impressed.

"See? What did I tell you?" Jordan said, raising his arms in exasperation.

"Stop getting off topic," Bennett told them in annoyance, having them mumble out a sorry.

All four of us were sitting at the Mad Hatter at our usual booth. Cameron had just served us our orders. But they were still left untouched because of the tense atmosphere we were in. Well, all of them were untouched except for Jordan's. I would be eating mine if I didn't feel so sick right now.

He looked back at me. "Naomi, say something."

I shook my head. "I-I don't know what to say." I looked at them. "What can I say after you just told me the reason why you dated them, the girls?"

Jordan shrugged. "Thanks. You guys are awesome. Lunch is on me. And I'll do all of your home-"

"Ow!" Declan said. "Why'd you kick me for?" He demanded, glaring at me.

"It wasn't me," I protested.

All eyes turned to Bennett. "Don't look at me," he grumbled.

"It was me," Jordan said.

He looked at Jordan. "Why did you kick me for then?"

Jordan shrugged. "Why not?"

"You know what?" Declan asked. "You don't earn this." And before Jordan could stop him, Declan ate the rest of Jordan's sandwich.

Jordan looked like he saw someone murdered, well he did just watch as his sandwich got murdered. Then he looked like he was about to cry.

"Did you see that? He just ate my sandwich," he cried, but then he paused. "Wait, y'know I ate that, and then you ate it. Now it's like we-"

Declan didn't let him finish because he ran to the nearest trashcan and spat it out. We heard a sudden ding coming from the kitchen. All of turned to see Cameron shaking his head in disappointment. And right next to him was the cook, a big, beefy man, pointing his spatula right at Declan. It was a nice change to see Declan being the scared one rather than doing the actually scaring. He awkwardly shuffled back to his seat, his ears turning red and looking down at his food.

"Why are you scared of him?" I asked Declan. "I never thought you're capable of being scared by another guy."

"It's not that I'm scared of him," Declan grumbled. "I can take him. But don't ever mess with a guy who handles your food. You have a death wish if you do."

"That's why we don't mess with Bennett... often," Jordan told me.

"But let's go back to what we were talking about."

"Oh right," I said, "besides the fact you lied to me?"

"It was for your own good," Jordan interjected between bites.

"Let's just take it from the top," Bennett offered.

"Yes, that's how you should have started," I told him. "Not, 'Naomi, we were lying to you, we never liked the girls.'"

"Yeah, I know," Bennett said before letting out a sigh. "Okay, can we tell you now?"

"Well, there's no one stopping you. So yes, tell me."

"It all started when Parker first invited all of us to lunch," Jordan said. "The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the birds were singing-"

"-they were suffering from those girls," Declan added, pointing at his friends next to him.

"Yeah, why did you ditch us for anyway?" Jordan demanded. "And don't give me that detention crap."

"There was no way that I was going to suffer with those girls."

"So you let us go there to that trap, knowing what was there waiting for us. Unbelievable," Jordan said, shaking his head. "I mean, of course I don't blame you. But still."

"When you left the cafeteria, we got worried and wanted to find you," Bennett told me. "The girls obviously didn't want us to leave, so they told us to stay while they looked for you. Not liking the thought of what would happen when they did find you, we went after them."

"But the time we caught up to them, they already found you," Jordan said.

"We wanted to stop it before anything bad happened," Jordan continued, "but when they started talking about how hot we were, well..."

Unbelievable. I mean, of course that was true. But still.

"Anyway, we just continued to listen in to it when we heard that part."

"Wait." I called out to them. "So are you guys the one who made the website, who wrote that status to stop... all of this?"

They all paused, but only Abby was the one who looked back at me.

"Of course not, Nerds," she said with a smirk. "We just control the one that does."

"The website," Jordan said. "They control the one who started the website."

"Yes, I already know that," I told them. "But good will that do? We don't know who controls the website-" I paused. "Unless..."

"We dated them on purpose to find out who was behind the website," Declan finished.

"So what you're telling me," I said slowly, "is that you guys willingly suffered through them just for that? And not only did you have to put up with them, but you have to put up with me being such a jerk to you?"

All three of them shared a look.

"Yeah, pretty much," Bennett said.

My fists clenched together, shaking my head. "I hate you guys so much right now."

Declan frowned. "What? What did we do?"

"You guys dated them for weeks, having to endure through all of those dates, all of that time with them, and the girls themselves. Not only that, I was such a jerk to you, I ignored you, avoided you, and chose Parker over you guys. And all this time you were doing this for me." I sniffled, feeling the tears welling in my eyes.

"Aw don't cry," Jordan said, "that's the last thing we want."

"Well too late," I said, my lip trembling. "I hate you guys so much. You shouldn't have done that. You shouldn't have done any of that for me. I don't deserve you guys as friends. Damn, I hate myself so much." I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hand. "Go and find some other nerd girl who wouldn't be such a jerk to you. Let me just cry over my sandwich alone."

"But it's so hard to find some other nerd girl," Jordan whined like a little kid, stomping his foot for emphasis. "We only want you."

"And we didn't just date those girls for nothing," Declan said firmly. "You accept the fact we did this for you, whether you like it or not."

I let out a laugh. "Don't make me laugh. I'm supposed to crying right now."

"That wouldn't be good for business," Cameron pointed out as he passed by us with meals for the table next to us.

Ignoring that, I continued. "It was because I was so mad you were with them. I was so-"

"Jealous?" Jordan offered.

I nodded. "Yes, I was jealous."

"If it makes you feel any better, we were pretty jealous too," Bennett told me. "You had Parker who you actually liked, and we were stuck with them."

"Yeah I like him, but he also helped me when I tried to make you guys jealous."

"Well it worked," he said. "We did the same thing to you, did it work?"

"Yes, a lot." I looked at them. "I miss you guys. I really missed you guys."

Declan smiled. "Before we get all sentimental, can we go back to the story?"

"Oh yes, the story," Jordan said, remembering about it again. "Where was I? We were dating them on purpose to find out who was controlling the website, but it was harder than we thought." He let out a sigh. "We thought we could just grab their phones and see their messages to anyone they might be threatening to or talking about the website with. But the thing was..."

Bennett said, "They never-"

Declan grumbled, "-left their-"

"-phones ever," Jordan finished.

"Never?" I asked.

"Never," Declan answered. "It was a nightmare. We tried everything to keep their phones, even their purses away from them just long enough to check their messages."

"But it was like..." Bennett paused, trying to find the right words. "It was like they were born with their purses, they were like magnets, and they never let it out of their sight."

"They brought the things everywhere," Jordan groaned. "And they wouldn't even let us hold our bags for them, which I thought chicks would dig."

I shook my head. "No, only books. No one wants to carry their books, but they would like to keep their purses."

"Anyway, I started getting impatient. So I would try to pickpocket Candice's phone out of her purses or pockets," Jordan told me. "But she would catch me and think I was trying to make a move on her." He shuddered for a moment. "Candice was the main one who never let go of her phone. All she did was text, talk, and take pictures of us. So I pretty much gave up of ever getting it."

"Then it was left to us," Bennett and Declan said.

"We would take the girls on dates, hoping to get the chance to grab their phones," Declan said. "But no, they wanted to go out on a date. Not once did they let us get their phones."

"They're not supposed to in the first place," I told him.

"Well they should," he grumbled. "The faster we got their phones, the sooner we could leave."

"Abby was just as bad as Candice," Bennett said. "Only I was the farthest away from her phone. She would make me go all over town, making errands or driving her to places. Buy some flowers, some chocolates, and go to the mall. I was wasting gasoline on her."

"I had half a mind to put you out of your misery and put that gasoline to good use, Bent," Jordan said, patting him on the back.

Then he made the gesture of shooting a gun which must be the gas station gasoline gun, then making the flicking motion of a match and throwing it on the ground.

"Now it was up to me," Declan said a bit proudly. "I didn't mind the pressure, I could handle it. The job was all up to me, I was everyone's last chance, I-"

"-can finish the story," Jordan finished.

"But let me-"

"-grow a pair."

"I'm going to-"

"-bow down to Jordan."

"Do that one more time and-"

"-I'll kick your sorry ass."

He looked at us. "He finally got it right."

I sighed. "Declan could you please-"

"-get a life?" Jordan laughed at that then said, "Sorry, last one, I promise."

"Anyway, I was the one who finally got the phone, a feat that the other two couldn't have done," Declan told me with a grin. "Hannah was having cheerleading practice, and obviously couldn't hold on to her phone while doing all this-" he started waving his hands like some cheerleader, pretending to have pom-poms.

"Wait, you had a shortcut, so it doesn't count," Jordan grumbled.

"You're just jealous," Declan retorted. "As I was saying, I had the chance to get the phone. But the thing was that she put all of her stuff in her locker in the girl's locker room. And since I don't have-" he paused and mumbled something "-I couldn't do it."

Jordan blinked. "I'm sorry, but I hear that part clearly." He leaned closer to his friend. "Can you say it again, louder this time?"

"I said since I don't have-" he mumbled it again, slightly louder but too quickly.

"One more time."

"I said since I don't have Jordan's lock-picking skills, I called him for help."

"Now that's what I've been waiting for," Jordan said in satisfaction. "And thanks for that man, you saved me from another date with Candice." He held out his fist to him.

Declan rolled his eyes and fist bump Jordan. "No problem."

"I'd never expected the girl's locker room like what we just saw," Jordan said. "I've always imagined it with hair dressers, filled with glitter, some sexy cosplay outfits, and posters of chicks that are even-"

"Jordan, please stop."

"But to my disappointment, it looked exactly like the boy's locker room, only the smell of perfume overpowered even the smell of axe." He made a face for emphasis.

"We found Hannah's locket after looking up her number in the file cabinet," Declan said. "But the thing was, they don't have the code with the card, it's up to the student's to know it and hold the responsibility, blah, blah, blah. If you lost or forgot it, you're screwed."

"This is where I come in," Jordan said with his well-known devious smile. "With my trusty tools, I picked the lock in record time. Declan?"

Cue another eye roll from Declan. "Half a minute."

"Nuh-uh," Jordan said. "It was 29.9 seconds, every second counts y'know."

"Then you should've made those seconds count and done it faster."

"Watch yourself," Jordan threatened. "I can unlock anything you have."

"Watch yourself," Declan threatened back. "I can break anything you have."

"Touché."

"Thank you."

"I'm going to finish the story if you guys can't," Bennett told them.

"Sorry," Jordan said. "Anyway, it had the usual stuff. Some deoderant, lotion, perfume, her clothes, her bra- which is a B-cup by the way, probably stuffed it with a bunch of-"

"Jordan please," Bennett said.

"And her purse with her phone inside. We took a couple of selfies, made fun of her bra, and then looked through the messages. Besides finding out she was cheating on Declan-"

"Aw," I said, "I'm sorry Declan."

"Don't be. I'm kinda glad. But it still hurts," Declan said.

"It's alright buddy," Jordan said, patting his back. "Anyway, the messages with the other girls were the usual ones that make me want to chuck a dictionary to all of them. I had to look up most of the shortcuts they were saying to decipher what it meant. I was like another language that scientists are still trying to learn."

"But then we found a group chat between the girls and one more person," Declan said. "Someone they would never talk to."

"And we knew that must have been the person because when they talked, it was three-to-one. They kept on threatening and making fun of the person. Also, the last time they talked was when they talked about the time they met us at the mall, which was the latest post of the website."

"How long ago was this?"

Jordan smiled. "Just three days ago, a day before the game. But we had to leave because practice for Hannah was over."

"Then what was that fight all six of you had in the party?"

"You saw that?" Bennett asked me.

"Who didn't?"

"Well, Hannah must have figured out that we looked into her phone," Jordan said, scratching his neck. "Probably the fact we didn't close the message app to the group chat."

"Or those selfies we took," Declan added. "Hannah told the others and they confront us at the party. We tried denying it, but the evidence was there."

"Yeah it was," Jordan said, high-fiving Declan who couldn't help but smile.

"And we finally broke it off with them."

"You guys are done?" I asked in disbelief. "Over? Finished?"

"Ran out of synonyms there, Naomi?" Jordan asked. "Yes, we're free!"

"But who is it? Who's the person behind the website?"

Jordan shrugged. "We don't know."

I blinked. "What?"

"The name they put on the contacts was just 'Grl', she were too lazy to even spell it right. And she didn't care about her enough to even write her name."

"So what now?"

"We're going to meet her," Bennett said.

"What do you mean we're going to meet her? Just like that? Does she even know?"

Jordan snorted. "Of course she's not going to know, and the girls don't either. Before we left, we sent a message to her saying we want to meet her somewhere. And we were sure to delete the message so Hannah wouldn't know about it."

"So how about it, Naomi?" Bennett asked me. "Do you want to meet the person who ruined your life even farther than it already was?"

I smiled. "Wouldn't you?"

What? Another chapter? I know, I'm on a roll. I'm planning to post two more chapters before Halloween. Why exactly? You'll see...

Now I'm going to work on the next chapter. As you wait, take a look at another song from my playlist I want to share with you. I absolutely love Fall Out Boy. My first song from them was Thanks For the Memories from Rock Band on my Nintendo DS. Then a friend told me about their new album, Save Rock and Roll: The Young Blood Chronicles. They're being judge that the band is punk, but the artists just want to play rock. There's a huge argument over it, and I don't want to get into that. And I don't want to be reading any bad comments or arguments between you guys who are for and against this. Just shut up and listen to the music. If you don't want to, that's alright too. I love the songs, they're very inspiring and pumps you up. I run to the album when playing soccer. The first song "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" is the song in the trailer of Big Hero 6.

I'll be giving you their final song of the album, Save Rock and Roll feat. Elton John. Guys, ELTON JOHN! They also have songs from the album featuring Courtney Love, Tommy Lee, Big Sean and Foxes (Maybe you heard of her from her song "Clarity"?)

Also I got bored and started making TGGBB memes. They're actually fun to make. These are the ones that fit into the collage, the rest I'll post one by one. I hope you enjoy them.

Until next time you guys.
