Chapter 21: Drake
I look out the window and see her body disappear. She really is gone. I feel like something is missing. I shouldn't be feeling like this. I am the Prince, I am strong, yet, I feel empty...
But I know, I know this isn't the last time I'll see her.
I shake myself and stand up straighter as I start heading to the conference room again. The princess stands high, staring at me, her eyes full of concern. Does she pity me? That...
She starts speaking, "Prince Drake, your eyes have an emotion I'd last seen when you were very younger. It seems like- like you may have fallen-"
"I don't care about her! She was a human, a mortal who had no means with this world. Someone who doesn't belong here. She is where she should be. The only reason she was here was because of you, and now she's gone. Now, we would like an explanation as to why you ran away, for the fifth time, and how you are going to help us."
This lady gets on my nerves. The princess of goodness and yet so... poisonous.
She looks to my brother, Andrew, then back at me.
Her look throws me off, and I feel like reaching out, caressing her cheek, which I was never able to do, but this isn't Analia. This is a lady who cares nothing about me or my kingdom, and perhaps not even her own, seeing that she ran away.
She stands way too straight, like everything is hers, her eyes way too strong, as if she's seen all the bad and good things in the world, her smile way too sly but beautiful, unlike Analia's innocent and pure.
Why am I thinking of her so much?
"Well, why I had gone to the mortal world these many times is none of your business, and for the cynists, we agree to have a truce with you, join armies, and fight them together. They want violence and blood, but from both kingdoms, while we want peace, for... well, both kingdoms. As for our marriage-"
"It will not happen," I finish for her. I'd rather have war than marry her now.
"Exactly my words... I need to leave now, as I need to see my father and brother, and from what I know, my brother is with you so you should take me to him. I shall contact you again soon. Thank you for your time."
I expect her to bow, but when she doesn't, reality hits me again, Analia is really gone, and the person I hate so much has her face.
I motion for Camara to lead Princess Liferia out and take her to Max.
One by one, everyone leads out of the room and I put my face in my hands.
Why does she keep appearing in my head, no matter how hard I try to push her out.
I look at my hands and my eyes go wide.
The cool feeling is not on my fingers...
Where is my ring?
I look around the throne but see it nowhere. I couldn't have dropped it anywhere... right?
No, this ring is important, I couldn't have lost it.
Fear grips at my stomach and I try to hide my emotions quickly.
I call out to one of the workers and order her to find it.
She flinches at my harsh tone and I am surprised by my voice. Controlling myself and my fists clenched, I motion with my hand for her to go.
Life is giving too many surprises today...
