Chapter 7

My 'drunken chapter' has now been edited and I've added bits in, so I recommend that you read it again now that it makes sense :')

I will not be doing that again hopefully. I pretty much laid in bed all day yesterday. I was so hungover. Anyway, thank you for reading regardless of the silliness. Now, I'm back on track with proper updates!

"Yes, I am an original God," Reyana said carefully. "My daughter gets her jealousy from me."

"Wait, if you're an original God, that means..." Hunter's words trailed off out of shock.

"That means you killed all of the other Gods for power," Margo finished, feeling Anthony's arms wrap tighter around her.

"I did." Reyana looked down, twisting her wave shaped ring.

Jacota noticed how her green nails had chipped at the edges.

"Hunter," he thought with blood running cold. "It was Reyana who tried to kill me."

"What?" Hunter watched him out of the corner of his eye, not wanting to make it obvious that they were talking. "How do you know?"

"Look at her hands."

Hunter remembered asking Jacota if he knew what the God looked like and he said no. The only part of her he did see were her hands, with green nails and a ring shaped like a wave.

"She tried to frame her daughter. Reyana is gaining our trust by lying to our faces." Hunter opened a mind like with his parents, telling him the same thing. "What do we do?" he asked.

"Stay calm and don't let her know that we know. If we know she's disloyal, we are already one step ahead," Margo replied.

Although, Jacota stared at Reyana's hands for too long and her suspicions grew.

"That was a long time ago," Reyana continued. "I have spent years thinking about my mistakes. Who I used to be has gone. I was bitter and envious of the power that I wasn't granted."

"So you killed everyone, even Jacota, the original leader of the wolves?" Scott questioned.

"Yes, thinking I would get his power. Instead, all I got was a terrible misfortune of bad luck, year after year as a punishment I presume. I've been weak and unable to do almost anything useful with my powers until the revival of the Gods a few weeks ago."

"So, by killing the God of Gods, you don't get their power?" Hunter asked.

"No."

"Then why haven't you told your daughter that? And how did she manage to freeze the water in the bath if she's not a God?"

Reyana's eyes darkened with annoyance.

"She is a daughter of a God; surely she will have some of my powers."

A storm had started to drift overhead. Jacota could no longer hold it back.

"Why did you not get the powers from Jacota when you killed him all those years ago?" Anthony questioned.

"I don't know. I have a feeling the power was stored in other members of his family, waiting to be passed on through generations until the time was right." Reyana stepped closer, glancing at the sky.

"So, killing him again will benefit you how?" Hunter crossed his arms. The anger fizzled into his actions.

"It won't, but..." Reyana stopped and cleared her throat when Jacota stared at her hands again. "I'm not trying to kill him. My daughter- I've clearly raised her wrong."

"Anthony," a voice said from a few meters away. The wolves turned to Jeronah who stood anxiously. "I don't think you can trust this woman. We have been listening from the trees, and we heard Reef and Cordelia talking, they didn't know we were there."

"What did they say?" Anthony didn't know they had followed. Angel's and demon's scents are much different to humans and werewolves.

"They-"

"Who are you?" Reyana asked, looking behind her shoulder.

Jeronah ignored her and continued, "They said that the plan was working and Jacota thought it was Cordelia who tried to kill him. Now that the Gods are back, the powers have gone from Reyana. She has been lying, she did get the powers from killing the God of all Gods, and she is here to get them back."

All eyes turned to the Goddess of water.

"What game are you playing here?" Anthony growled. His pack stood around the family as Sam edged closer to his Alpha.

Reyana glanced at the sky once more, but Jacota was pushing the clouds away. Rain came with a storm and he didn't want to give her an opportunity to hurt him and his family.

"I have been around for many years. I deserve this." The wind howled around Reyana, and the sky grew dull despite the clouds moving away. Water dripped from Reyana's fingers. "They are my powers now, and I want them back." Reyana, with no warning, changed into her wolf. White, beautiful, and big. The wolf growled, and its claws dug deep into the mud.

Reyana charged forwards, aiming for Jacota when a bright light blinded her. She skidded and crashed into something that did not move an inch. The wolf looked up, meeting the eyes of Jeronah who guarded her path with wings stretched high and mighty.

"You will not harm him!" Jeronah yelled as Veronica and Meloras appeared by his side with eyes as black as a night sky with no moon. "This family have been kind enough to accept us into their world; you have no place to mess with destiny. Jacota will lead us to victory, not a spiteful God who is greedy and selfish."

"An angel," Reyana whispered after changing back to a human and staring with wonder, "and demons. H-How did you get here?"

"We came to protect Jacota. I see that now," Meloras spoke and Veronica nodded.

"Jacota is kind and empathetic. You have no right to take a life so pure, and you will be punished for what you have done already. Your daughter is due your powers, and then you will be nothing." Jeronah folded his wings and the light faded.

"My daughter is fifteen-"

"She's not," Veronica scoffed. "She said to her father that she slipped up and told you her real age. She is due your powers. Why are you lying about that?"

"Because they're mine!" Reyana snapped. "I am the oldest God; those powers were given to me!"

"Then you gave birth to a child. Honestly, did you think this wouldn't happen? You're pretty stupid for a God," Veronica said, smirking.

"I have lived for five hundred years, how dare you talk to me like I'm nothing."

"Five hundred years? How about thirty-two thousand years?" Veronica stood in front of Jeronah. "You mean nothing to me. When the time comes, I will kill you."

Reyana backed away.

"You can't kill me."

"I can, and I will." Veronica started rolling up her sleeves when Meloras held her shoulders and pulled her back.

"Let the wolves settle this," she whispered as Anthony, Margo and their pack stood with them.

"You know you are in danger," Margo said. "You killed the original Gods which means the revived ones will come after you. This is why you are trying to kill Jacota first because he is the most important."

"I want my powers back."

"They belong to me," Jacota said lowly. "They belong to my family, and you stole them from us."

"Look at you, a young boy with so much on his shoulders. I will come back for you." Reyana's eyes didn't break away from Jacota until she disappeared in front of them, smoothly and silently.

The wolves didn't realise how tense they felt until the God was gone. Hunter turned to watch his mate, confused but protective. "We need to plan how to kill her."

"I agree," Anthony said and held his hand out to Jeronah. "I apologise for not trusting in you sooner. Thank you."

Jeronah took his hand and shook it firmly.

"I hope we have earned your trust. We have been given this freedom for a price, and that is to protect your family. Why else would we be here?"

Anthony shook Veronica's hand, then Meloras'.

"Having you on our side has proven to be really helpful." Anthony turned to Jacota who was engulfed by his son. "Let's go. We're not safe here."

Sam turned to William, ready to change into his wolf. The human watched him with narrowed eyes.

"Are you okay?" Sam asked.

"Yes," William sighed. "Sam, you don't have to be so protective of me."

"I honestly mean no disrespect when I say this Will, but you're human, and we're werewolves. In a fight with werewolves, you are the weakest, and I'm not prepared to let you get hurt." Sam shrugged. "You're my friend, and I couldn't just leave you."

William saw the pain on his face from the word friend.

"I'm not as helpless as you think," he chuckled, wishing that Sam would fall for someone else, so he didn't have to see the heartache every time they looked at one another.

Sam smiled and turned into his wolf. He brushed the top of his head against William's fingers before turning and waiting for him to climb onto his back.

"I don't want to go home," Jacota thought to Hunter. "It's not safe for anyone. I have to find her and stop this."

Hunter pulled back with a frown.

"You mean we have to find her and stop this. You're not going alone."

Jacota knew he was stronger with Hunter by his side.

"Then come with me. I don't want our families to get hurt. It would ruin me if we lost someone."

"I know." Hunter ran a gentle hand through his mate's hair. A warm trickle of affection pushed through them. He didn't doubt that Jacota would break down for good if someone died because of God issues. "Let's go. They'll think we've gone back to the house."

Jacota nodded and looked back to his dad. Scott watched Anthony transform into his wolf with an astonished smile. Then quickly, the boys hugged tighter and disappeared before their families could notice.
