6) Souls for Satan (Kaiden + Milokan's backstory, along with Meloras + Jeronah's backstory and how they ended up in the vampire world)

William dropped his walking stick, waking up his sleeping mate. Sam groaned and rolled over, peering at the human through blurred eyes.
"Morning," William smiled.
"Good morning," Sam yawned, pulling himself out of bed. He stood still for a moment, listening and sniffing the air. "What time is it?"
"Half past nine."
"Have you been downstairs yet?"
"No, why? Are you okay?"
"It's just, I smell a mixture of unfamiliar scents. I can hear a lot of talking."
William listened and heard silence, and he could only smell the soap from his shower.
"Wanna go check it out?" he asked.
Sam nodded and took his hand, trudging slowly out of the room and down the corridor. William limped next to him, using his walking stick with every step. When they reached the stairs, Sam went first in case his mate tripped and needed support. He has learnt never to rush when around the human. William was always a breath slower than everybody else.
When they approached the kitchen, William heard a lot of stranger's voices. He opened the door to see a lot of new faces.
"What's going on?" he asked, standing close to Sam.
"The vampire world opened a rift half an hour ago," Scott said, smiling at Sam's bed hair. "This is everyone who will be helping us in the war."
"Wait, so these are vampires?" the Beta asked with big eyes.
"Not all of them, but quite a few."
"I should've got dressed." Sam looked down at his pyjamas. "Do I smell?"
"No," William chuckled. "Nobody can judge. They're in our home."
Sam brushed down his t-shirt and spotted someone in a waistcoat.
"Hm, I'm going to get dressed." The Beta wolf kissed William's forehead and left him standing with Scott.
"Hello," a man, the same age as Scott said. "I'm Oliver Vanderwood. Do you live here? Are you both related? You look alike. Actually, you look a bit like Jacota. Who was that with you? a werewolf?"
William wished Sam didn't leave, he would've managed to answer Oliver's questions as quickly as he asked them.
"I'm William, Jacota's brother. That's my dad. Um, that was my mate, Sam. And yes, he's a werewolf."
"Wow, I'm honoured to meet any relatives of Jacota. Are you a God like him?"
"No," William said quietly. "I'm human."
"Me too!" Oliver grinned, seeing his embarrassment. "There are not many humans here, but I guess that makes us very special. It takes a lot for humans to tolerate the supernatural. Tell me more about your mate, how long have you been together?"
Scott left them to talk and found Anthony, Margo, Madison, and Duke looking through the Enchiridion.
"Ah, here he is. This is Scott, Jacota and William's fathers, the previous God of lightning," Anthony introduced proudly, then introduced Scott to the Vanderwoods, telling him they were vampires and ruled a city in their world, just like him. Though the only difference was that humans know about the vampires in their world.
"It's amazing to meet you both. I've hoped to meet vampires in my lifetime."
"And we hoped to meet a God," Madison beamed, tracing her hand over the parchment paper. "You wrote this book?"
"Yes. It was for my son. I knew he would need it if I weren't around once he inherited my powers. He needed the guidance." Scott found his son in the crowd of people, talking to Rayvon Vanderwood.
"I would love a copy of this book one day. Do you think you could make another one? Or I could print the pages. Being in another world is a part of history. I want something to show our generations," Duke said.
"Of course, I'd love to." Scott couldn't get over the fact that he was talking to vampires.
Sam appeared next to William again, just as Panuleon and Corey moved through the people to say hello.
"Panuleon, I have a questioned," the Beta wolf said, looking down at William's leg. "Now that you're actually here and it's not through a mind-portal, would your healing abilities work on Will?"
"No," Panuleon said truthfully before the human got his hopes up. "You see William, your leg has healed as far as it possibly can; therefore my angel powers will not work. For example, Zachariah's wing was cut off quite a long time ago, and if his injuries healed before I got the chance to reattach his wing, I wouldn't be able to do it because it's impossible to heal it any further. You are managing, though aren't you?"
"I understand, and honestly, I don't remember what it was like to use both legs properly. Using a stick is normal for me, and I have adapted," William said, smiling at Sam. "This is who I am now."
"You have a great attitude," Corey said as Oliver returned.
"Hello, Sam. William told me all about you. I'm Oliver, a human if you would like to know. My soulmate is a vampire if you would also like to know."
"Really? What's it like dating a vampire?" Sam asked.
"I guess it's like every other relationship, he just craves my blood once a year."
"No way. Will he show me his fangs if I asked? Does he turn into some crazy beast?"
"Come, I'll get him to show you. I guess you could say he's like a beast when he's angry," Oliver chuckled, gently pulling him away. "If he shows you his fangs will you show us your wolf? What fur do you have? Is it blond like your hair?"
"If I show you my wolf will you throw sticks for me? and my wolf is black with-"
As Sam and Oliver continued word vomiting on each other, Vinny stalked his soulmate from the corner of the room. Kaiden stood with the vampire, watching Milokan talk with Veronica.
"There are too many people," Vinny muttered, and Kaiden agreed.
"I'm gonna go look around the woods." Kaiden moved, but Vinny grabbed his arm.
"Don't even think about it. Anthony said we're not allowed, so don't disrespect that."
"Get off me," Kaiden shrugged him away with a scowl. "I'll do what I want."
"Shut up demon. The world doesn't revolve around you."
They glanced at one another, smirking.
"I would literally kill you if I had the chance."
"The feeling's mutual," Vinny said bluntly.
Sam stood in front of them, looking a little disturbed.
"Oh don't worry, that's them being nice to one another," Oliver said. "Anyway, Vinny show this werewolf your fangs."
"No."
"Vincent."
Vinny rolled his eyes and jabbed Kaiden in the ribs when he mocked him, knowing fine well that Oliver had him wrapped around his little finger.
The vampire's eyes turned red and sharp fangs poked out from the top of his lip. Sam gasped and tried to look closer, then thought against it, not wanting to get bitten.
"So, you drink blood?"
Vinny nodded.
"Oliver's blood?"
"Werewolves blood."
Sam tried to laugh, but Vinny's face didn't change one bit. The Beta wolf started to feel uncomfortable and took a step back.
"He's joking of course." Oliver was giving his vampire the 'cut it out' stare.
"Am I?" Vinny found the situation rather amusing. Sam was bigger than him and probably matched his strengths, yet he could patronise him with simple words. "Animal blood tastes the best-"
"How about I throw those sticks for you then?" Oliver turned Sam around and quickly pushed him through the crowd.
Kaiden watched, getting bored until he spotted his mother.
"I hate you," he said.
"I hate you too." Vinny watched the demon leave before sinking further into the shadows, so he could observe the strangers.
Over the years, Vinny has been a father figure for Kaiden because they understand each other and share the same issues with their anger, and the same dark and inappropriate humour. Now that the demon has reunited with his actual father, Vinny will be careful about telling him off, giving him advice, and so on. That was Jeronah's job from this day forth.
Hunter followed Jacota into the garden, watching him stop to take a breath.
"It got busy in there for a second," Jacota said with his back to him.
Hunter walked up behind him and rested a chin on his shoulder.
"Even I felt like I needed air." He kissed his cheek and held him for warmth. "You doing okay?"
Jacota nodded and said, "I'm just having a moment. It's a lot of people to meet all at once."
"There's no pressure to know them right away. Friendships take time."
Jacota turned with a smile. For the first time in a while, he felt tired. He took Hunter's hand and played with his wedding ring.
"Do you think we should have a bonfire or something to get to know them?"
"Yeah, that would be good." Hunter watched him twist his ring around his finger, remembering the day they said their vows, and he married his best friend. He monitored Rayvon and Luka as they left the kitchen and found a bench in the peaceful garden. "It looks like you're not the only one feeling a little overwhelmed."
Luka, being a withdrawn and quiet person from birth, needed time to process such an extraordinary moment in his life. Visiting another world was scary enough, but being around supernatural creatures who could turn into animals was worse. Vinny has a cat, and Luka still doesn't like to go near her, even after thousands of years.
Hunter and Jacota sat next to them on another bench, watching the interactions through the kitchen window.
"What season is it in your world?" Hunter asked.
"Winter," Rayvon said with a smile.
Hunter studied him, still shocked by how much he looked like Vinny, though he had Oliver's striking lime eyes. Rayvon didn't glare as much as the vampire, and Hunter wondered if that was Oliver's influence or parts of the human's personality inherited by his child.
"Are you both hybrids?"
"Yes. I'm half vampire and half human. Luka is half human and half angel. And you're a werewolf? Does that mean you turn into a wolf on command?"
"It does. Um, would you like to see?"
Rayvon looked down to Luka who shuffled closer. His eyes fixed firmly on the ground.
"Maybe later?"
"Sure."
Jacota tried not to stare at Luka's gold eye, but it swirled and sparked against the sun. He has never seen anything so magical.
"Does it hurt when you transition?" Rayvon asked.
"No, not at all-" Hunter stopped and crouched over in pain, holding his pulsing head and falling off the bench to curl up into a ball. Jacota rushed to his side, and Hunter squeezed his arm with scrunched eyes.
"What's going on?" Rayvon asked on behalf of the werewolf's distress.
"He's getting a mission." Jacota rubbed Hunter's back who shook with discomfort. He has lived through many missions now, though it never felt any less painful. "He's my guardian, as well as my mate."
Sam and Phoenix, being the only pack members close, felt their Alpha's suffering and rushed to the garden.
Hunter listened to the loud voice in his head. As usual, the pressure felt like his brain would burst out of his skull, and his entire body throbbed like tiny pins stabbed him all over. Then, it vanished quicker than a second, almost like nothing happened. He sat up with a deep frown when Anthony and Margo rushed to the door for the information.
Jacota and Hunter's gaze connected, sharing the same thoughts.
"What's the mission?" Margo questioned.
Hunter looked around at the perturbed faces, waiting thousands of years to announce what he was about to say. He stood up, still watching his mate who seemed too stunned to stand.
"The other Gods," he breathed, "they're coming."
