The alarm woke me. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw his peaceful face. I wanted to keep staring at him throughout my life. I did not move, so as to not disturb his peaceful sleep. It was still dark outside. I did not want sunrise, because I did not want him to go. {I have become extremely selfish. But I don't care. I don't mind the whole world against me, as long as he is with me. I will do anything for him.} But God was against me. He stirred and opened his eyes. I gave him a cheesy smile. He smiled and was about to get up. I hugged him tight.

Me: I will not let you leave. Please be with me.

He: I will, but now, I need to go.

Me: I don't care about the world. I need you beside me.

He gently raised my head, to make me face him. I looked into his eyes, which showed care and anger at the same time.

He: Think of all those happy couples, happy families and children in the world! If I don't go now, they will not have a future that they might be dreaming of, or aspiring for, right now. And if the world is to end, it means my end too. Do you want me to die?

Tears filled my eyes. I felt like someone just dropped a huge boulder on my head.

Me: No ... no.

He: See, we live in the world and we are directly or indirectly trapped in it. If we start being selfish, we will have to face the consequence. We don't have any right to live a happy life, unless we wish the well-being of others. Nature gives us, what we give others.

Me: I am sorry. I just wanted you to be with me. I did not ...

He: I know. I know how much you love me. I love you too. But I have to fulfil my duty.

I let go of him. He gently kissed my forehead and wiped my tears. He then got ready to go. I too prepared myself for his departure. He took blessings from Ma, Pa, Ram and Revati before leaving. I went to my room and got ready to leave to college. My life suddenly felt empty. I did not have interest in anything. I waded through the tiresome day.

I was about to go to sleep, when I got a call. My happiness knew no bounds when I saw the caller ID. It was 'My lord'.

Me: Hello!

He: Can you go to the balcony?

Me: Why? Where are you? How was your day?

He: Please go to the balcony. There is a message for you over there.

Me: Okay!

I rushed to the balcony.

He: Now close the door of balcony, and look down.

I followed his instructions. But I almost fell off the balcony!
