Chapter 3 - The Cabin
{A/N - the music with this chapter is for dramatic effect, I'll mark when to start it with • for you guys}
We had been walking for a while now and I could feel the energy slipping away from me little by little as I trudged alongside Beth and Anna. The wet leaves not making any sound beneath my boots as I stifled another yawn.
The sun started to rise, though the sky was still a dark grey color that refused to give way into a brighter color. We walked through the dead forest, and it looked as if we were the only creatures out. Though the feeling of something watching me was growing increasingly strong the longer we walked.
"Haaaaa, finaally!" Beth broke the silence, suddenly a bit perkier for seemingly no reason, "ļaujiet plīvuram pacelties" she whispered under her breath and suddenly the empty space wasn't so empty.
It was as if the small cabin had appeared out of thin air, the first of us to move was Beth. She let out sigh and dashed for the front door, flinging it open and rushing into the strange house in one swift movement. Anna just shrugged and followed her in, I glanced around to make sure nothing was around before heading in myself.
The front door opened into a quaint little living room, with a kind of boho chic vibe about it, with two doors on the far wall. I stepped all the way in and closed the door as Anna went around touching everything and Beth beelined to what was apparently the bathroom. The wall next the front door had an archway that lead into a small kitchen and dining area with cute window seating, the whole place was like rustic overload.
I peeked a little further into the kitchen and caught a glimpse of a back door, mentally noting that before I returned my focus to the living room. More specifically the door on the far wall that hadn't been opened yet.
I felt like there should've been some like really suspenseful music playing as I walked towards it and reached for the knob, like in movies or shows when it reaches the peek of the crescendo as they open the door. When I opened the door it was like one of those moments when the music just stops because the door opens up into just a normal room and all the suspense seemed stupid. Yeah, I felt a little ridiculous being cautious when I opened the door to show a normal little bedroom on the other side.
Pushed into the far right was a double bed with a quilt that looked like my nana could've made it on top. A window let in the watery morning light as dust swirled around. The room was quite simple with only a dresser to accent it, though it barely fit.
I sighed as the tension in my arms drained away and set my bag down at the foot of the bed before diving onto it. Though the landing was uncomfortable I quickly adjust myself and fell asleep.

I gazed across the meadow from the forests edge, there was a figure at the very edge were it dropped off into the ocean. The tall grass swaying in the wind as I moved out of the trees. The figure stood tall and unmoving at the edge.
I walked towards them, seemingly automatically, the grass whipping against my legs lightly. They seemed to be surrounded by this silver lining, a soft glow like an aura.
As I drew closer the light shifted and the wind picked up. The figure turned to me when I was about 10 steps away, the golden light shining down on his face. I stopped as he looked at me and gave a small smile that barely reached his eyes, my breath caught a bit at the sight of someone so plain yet so handsome.
His hazel eyes glowed in the light and his sandy hair danced in the wind, and the smile dear god it made me want to both swoon and gag at the same time. The golden light washed over his tan skin and literally made him look even better and strangely angelic.
I let my breath go and walked to the edge, looking past him and out to the abyss. The horizon was beautiful with a golden sunset, the light dancing on the water as waves crashed below.
"So," I let out a sigh, "who are you?"
I glanced over to him as he quickly pretended like he wasn't staring at me for the answer.
"Oh, yeah uh I'm Anshu, god of light," he responded, "but everyone just calls me Liam."
He awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand as if it embarrassed him to say it.
"What do you want." I asked, looking at him with a deadpan expression.
"To find you," he said, "before they do." My blood ran cold as he spoke.
The way he said it, I knew he wasn't with my father. He reached for my arm but before he could grab it I ran.
I booked it to the edge and jumped. It was like I a was falling in slow motion for a while, but when I finally hit the water I-

-bolted up in bed, gasping for air as the adrenaline washed off.
The warm midday light spilled in through the window, washing over everything in sight. I could hear the others shuffling around the rest of the house as I scooted closer to the edge of the mattress. I had been so tired that I hadn't even bothered taking off my boots before crawling into bed, sighing I stood up.
I walked out into the living room where Beth was sat reading. She glanced up at me with a curious look as I sat across from her.
"There's someone hunting us down." I let out a sigh and sank further into the chair.
"And how do you know that?" She asked with a raised eyebrow while closing her book.
"I know because they're a dreamwalker," I snapped at her, "and a good one too."
"So they sent one after all." She sighed and tossed her book on the coffee table. "Guess I should get the supplies out."
She got up and disappeared into the kitchen just as Anna came out with plates of food.
Anna set the plates on the small dining table before waving me over and pointing at one of them. After that, she sat and began scarfing down her food; I followed suite and sat across from her before slowly starting to eat.
Beth returned shortly after with three pieces of jewelry and a duffel bag. She sighed, tossing the bag on the table in front of me.
"Well, time to gear up properly I guess." Beth murmured as she unzipped it.
