NEW MOON

Day of worship for the Temple of Juno. High Feast Day for the Temple of Luna.

The New Moon is a fortunate time to set plans for the future and begin routines to turn over a new leaf. We each get a chance to begin life anew every month.  

In this phase do gardeners sow and transplant leafy annuals that grow above ground, such as herbs, hemp, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, and celery. It is also the time to fertilise the garden, to prune and graft plants, and to mow laws to encourage growth. 

WAXING CRESCENT MOON

High Feast Day for the Temple of Luna .

The Waxing Crescent Moon is the perfect time to begin tasks. All houses and structural engineering projects begin building in this phase. This is a very fortunate time to start at a new job. 

In this phase do gardeners sow and transplant flowering annuals and biennials, such as poppies, violets, calendula, stocks, wallflowers, broccoli, and artichokes. Also fruiting annuals such as melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, peas and beans. This is also the time to plant grain crops. Pruning of perennials, citrus trees, and roses is recommended in the right season.

FULL MOON

High Feast Day for the Temple of Luna and the Temple of Jupiter.

On the three days of the Full Moon is energy at its most potent. The best days for socialising, dancing, and enjoying life. It is said to be a good time to conceive a child in this phase. Some people have trouble sleeping at the Full Moon and may need to relax more than usual. 

In this phase do gardeners sow and transplant flowering bulbs, and biennial and perennial flowers such as pinks - but only after the peak of the Full Moon. Leafy plants and edible plants will have initial good growth, but quickly fail if planted at this time. This is the best phase for harvesting.

WANING CRESCENT MOON

High Feast Day for the Temple of Luna .

The Waning Crescent Moon is a thoughtful period when life flows at a slower pace. Meetings and discussions are held at this time, bills and invoices are sent out, and contracts are signed. A good time to do maintenance and restoration work.   

In this phase do gardeners sow and transplant flowering and fruiting perennials such as hops, grapes, apples, strawberries, rhubarb and asparagus, and vegetables that grow crops underground, such as potatoes, carrots, turnips, leeks, garlic and onions. 

DARK MOON

Day of worship for the Temple of Minerva .

The Dark Moon is when life is at its quietest. It is a time to rid oneself of clutter and anything that is no longer wanted. Personal letters are best written at this time, when the mind is clear and without distractions. A good time to thoroughly clean the house, and cut hair and nails. Rest and prepare for the New Moon to come.  

In this phase do gardeners take care to cultivate the soil, prepare new beds, and do weeding, mulching, and destroy pests. This is a good time to mow laws to discourage growth. This is the best phase for ploughing fields.
