New Worlds

The first attack came from the humans. The deafening blast of a cannon sounded off, sending a brilliant, blinding, streak of fire directly into my forehead melting off one of my horns as it dripped down my face and into my eyes in molten agony, eliciting an intense sound of pain from inside me.

"It's been blinded! Attack!"

The thundering footsteps and triumphant war songs of thousands of men and women approached, and I swung the armored sections of myself onto top of hundreds of them with a single move, followed by a series of blind strikes as I ran about, trampling them down with my colossal weight. A scream in front of me ends when I open my mouth and throw out my enormous tongue, whipping a hundred more to death with it until I feel the prickly blades of their swords pricking into it, continuing to blindly stomp, roll, and bite my way through the last of their forces.

Standing atop the bloody mountain of victory, I sat as I thought over just what this accomplishment would bring. It was a close call, but by bringing the devastations of war to this planet, I had in turn brought piece, though be it at the price of millions of innocents, including putting my own life at risk. Once I had sat long enough, my body completely healed again to how it was before, and in that time my ambitions had once again grown. Not just from nothing to something as before, but from something small, to something huge; an idea and philosophy that would change the lives of all sentient life in the universe.

Once I made a planet's hatred of my existence grow, I would only have to wage war there again often enough to increase their hatred of me, and lower their hatred of each other. Knowing my work on Home was done for now, I flew away again into the vacuum of space, heading for the nearest planet with life.

This one was known by the surrounding planets as the peculiar name of Warmonger, a volcanic mass of rock and magma, its choking, gassy, atmosphere only breathable by the strange creatures living there.

As my mind scanned over their culture, history, and as I did, the figurative gears in my head began to turn, and as I looked over the mechanical sins lying in their planets core, a scheme began to grow; one that would change it all; a goliath of a weapon; known to them as the Leviathan. It is a type of cannon very similar to the one humans had smitten me with, being a cannon powered by some of light energy which I was somehow not familiar with. But while this one was still under construction by this race of Warmongers, it was huge, even if secret from the planets' masses. This race was also excited by their thoughts of killing, but the religions in their leader's systems had forbidden it for millennia.

Yet there it was; a weapon of mass destruction, under secret development, and waiting to be used to my ends. Yes, I hate war, and I hate bloodshed, but I knew this to be true; the only way to end war was to wage war myself, and to do so I would need weapons only worthy of a god.

Watching with eyes of my mind, I watched as the strange beings worked in their secret lair in the core of their planet, deep beneath the great city of their brethren.

D'giax, the last scientist of the planet Warmonger, sat upon the lone table in his layer. "Damn the Church Council! If they intend to stray from our ancient ways myself! Not just for the traditions of Warmonger, but for the sake of our own safety!" He flung the table onto its side, sending piles of papers and vials flying as he pulled out a flask of glowing orange liquid and downed it in one gulp. "Damn it! Damn it all! I can't do this on my own!"

"How about with a god on your side?" my voice reached out from my mind into his, "would you still sabotage this? Your grandest dream?"

In his mind's eye, I spun a new vision; a vision of the man who would forever represent my interactions with the people of this world. "I am the great god born of the Cocoon, though unnamed I remain!"

With my aid, and with my expansive knowledge of the workings of the cosmos, we together constructed the Leviathan, a great weapon beyond the comprehension of any man or mortal. As we worked on the amazing creation, the intensity of our shared divine knowledge melted away, and with the help of his slaves, a secret tunnel was built so that I could reach the tunnel in person, convincing him that my true form was the pet and companion of the cloaked figure he had grown so close to. And once he finally gave in to the depths of insanity, I took over, using this magical figment created by my mind to command them to continue the work until they, too, lost their minds to my endless god-knowledge.

With the final modifications complete, I can now begin the next phase of my plan for universal peace.

Going once again over my knowledge of the surrounding planets which knew of Warmonger's presence and violent history, I now visited them speaking to each leader only of my existence, and for my long-term intention for the end of all war before returning to Warmonger.

Now I made it clear to all of those surrounding planets that though it was untrue, I favored most the protection of Warmonger, and of the prestigious leader of its religious government so clearly against all acts of violence. Once I had made sure of their great fear and cautiousness, I then began the next part of my plan, expanding the secret tunnel, and moving my weapon to the surface of the planet.

"Warmonger," I said, sending out my best imitation voice of the pacifist leader into the minds of those neighboring planets, "has returned to its true face!"

And with that, I fired the cannon, obliterating one of their seven precious planets into nothing.
