Epilogue
Life has a way of starting over. After searching the books in my room I found this book, where I had documented nearly all of my days in the yard. I found that I had tried to escape multiple times each resulting in this whole place starting over, the people that were my friends losing their memories. But each time I managed to find the book and added to it, and sometimes others had books of their own. I somehow recalled some memories along the way, and I saved those as well.
Here I share the first occurrence of my time there, along with some inputs from Barry. I do not wish to share more, those other occurrences shall stay with me until the end of time. And even if I did share them, you wouldn't be able to come and find me to save me. Besides, I am happy now. I'm not going to try escape again; past writings showed my attempts never worked. Only Lizzie, Nicole, Barry, and I now know of the different repetitions I, and them, experienced.
Things are much more different than they were in the beginning.
"Come on, Barry!" I giggled as I ran through the trees.
"I'm coming! Wait up!"
I ran harder through the trees as my legs pumped even faster. The forest was anything but silence as I made a ruckus running through the trees. I looked over my shoulder to see Barry running after me, sweat beading on his brow and causing his hair to stick to it like glue.
I hid in the trees, blending in seamlessly with the shadows as I waited for him to catch up. I could hear the leaves crunch and twigs snap as Barry got closer to my location, and saw him pass as he kept going.
I went after him, quietly gaining through the trees. When he was within reach, I tapped him on the shoulder. He quickly jerked his head, but I was already invisible. I reached to tap his opposite shoulder, but before I could, he grabbed my wrist. He smiled as I came into view. Twirling me around, he now stood face to face with me.
We stood in a small clearing, sunlight pouring in from every direction. Now there was silence, except for the sound of birds singing overhead.
Barry rested his head against mine, staring straight into my eyes. I dared not blink or even breathe, his eyes keeping me locked in a trance.
Flashes and memories of our time together swam through my mind, causing my smile to widen.
"You know we're trapped here." He smiled.
"At least I'm trapped here with you."
