Chapter 12 (III)
As Des flew over the sparse forest he resembled a large, orange hummingbird. His wings resembling that of a fairy's, they beat faster than the other dragons and allowed him to make sharp turns when flying.
Des's eyes scanned the ground below, and as he flew he tried to come up with a way to help Thor's firescale issue. The SkyWing in question was currently flying back up from the ground where he had been searching a cave a few minutes ago.
"Any luck?" Ace asked, though the answer was clear.
"What do you think?" Thor shot back.
The group continued on, silently looking for Sunburn. Eventually, Ace spoke.
"I have an idea..." the GlitterPerfectWing said, breaking the silence.
Thor tilted his head in response. "And that is..?"
"Give me a second," Ace said. Then he flew to the ground and came back with a stone.
"A rock?"
Ace ignored him and said, "I enchant this rock to become a compass that points towards whatever dragon you're trying to find."
The brownish stone became more rounded and gained a silvery sheen. The red arrow in the middle was pointing in a south-eastern direction.
He held out the compass towards Thor and Des so they could see.
Thor grumbled. "Don't put that anywhere near me. I'll melt it with these frick-fracking firescales."
"Can't we just make it so that it's un-meltable?" Ace asked.
Thor began to retort. "That's not a word-"
"THAT'S GENIUS!" Des exclaimed.
Both Thor and Ace turned to stare at Des. "Don't you see? We can't take away Thor's firescales, but what if we made the rest of the world immune to his firescales?"
"That's... kinda genius." Thor turned to Ace. "Think you can manage a spell that big?" he asked.
Ace nodded. "Probably. Let's see..." he paused. "I enchant all of the world, all that exists now, that has existed, and that will exist, to be immune to Thor the SkyWing's firescales."
Without hesitation Thor sped towards the ground and he gently touched the grass...
...As it turned to ash.
Thor sagged. "Why... Why didn't it work?"
"I'm not sure," Ace said, swooping down to land beside him, "But we can figure that out later. Right now we need to find Sunburn."
Thor sighed and followed the GlitterPerfectWings as they searched for Sunburn.

Dashie, Venge, and Irre were flying in Northern Pantala. Dashie-
"Oh hey! You're here!"
Yes, er, I am.
Dashie smiled. "Does this mean we're about to have something exciting happen?"
No! Er, yes! I mean... AUGH.
"I'll take that as a maybe."
"Oh, hello author," Irre said, flying beside Dashie.
Hello Irre. Now, one of you think about something interesting so this cutscene has some meaning.
"Do rabbits count?" Venge asked, "I've always thought they were quite interesting..."
No, I mean something plot related.
"Ohhhhh." Dashie thought for a moment. Then a wicked smile came to her face. "I KNOW LET'S DO SOME MORE SHIPPING!"
What? That isn't-
"YES!" Irre said, "What do you think Venge?"
NO. Not happening.
"I don't see why not."
NO!
"Then let's play the shipping game!" Dashie exclaimed gleefully.
NO- hold up. The shipping what?
"We see who can come up with the best ship name," Irre said, "Or really, best ship in general."
That... I'm actually somewhat interested in what you'll come up with. You may -sigh- proceed.
"YAY!" Dashie clapped her talons.
"Well," Irre started, "We all know Thor has a thing for Sunburn."
Obviously.
"Really? I never noticed," Dashie said, "Soooo.... ThorBurn?"
"Better than SunThor or ThorSun," Irre agreed, "What do you think of Greji?"
"You mean Grey and Baiji? Definitely," Dashie said. Then, "What about DesIrre?"
"Who-" Irre stopped. "No."
"Oh come on!"
I thought you liked him?
"I do but he'd never like me back!"
Do you remember one of the first things he said to you? Here, and I quote, "Do you think this plot needs some romance?"
"But that doesn't mean-"
"Is that not enough of a hint?" Dashie asked.
"Oh yeah? And what about you? We all know you like Ace."
"NO I DON'T-"
Don't bother denying it Dashie.
"AUGH JUST GO AWAY!"
HA! Alright, alright I'll go. Really though, we should do this again sometime.
"NO!"
The decision was unanimous.
...And I can see where I'm not wanted.
-- -- --
Hmf. Thor? Des? How are you two?
"Why do you ask?" Thor's voice was suspicious, which deeply offended me.
And I only ask because I care.
"Yeah, sure."
HEY! Rude much?!
"Go bother the others."
They just made me leave.
"For no reason at all, I'm sure."
Hey now-
"Why are you making conversation with us anyway?"
Well-
"Don't tell me you've run out of ideas..."
Maybe..?
"So now you're just trying to fill the pages with our conversation."
...
Yes, okay, fine. I'll admit I'm just trying to finish the chapter. I have a goal of 900 words per chapter and we're only at about 750.
"I see."
...
"Then I'll just be quiet so you'll have to bother someone else."
Oh really? That's your plan, huh smartie pants? WELL I'LL SHOW YOU!
*ahem* As the trio flew towards who-knows-where Thor had some very pressing thoughts.
"YOU WOULDN'T!" The SkyWing yelled angrily. But oh yes, I- the author- would go there.
Thor was worried about Sunburn. Even though the SandWing-
"SHUT UP!"
-had caused issues before.
"IF YOU DON'T STOP I'LL- I'LL- DO SOMETHING!"
The SkyWing didn't care. Sunburn had also-
"I SWEAR-"
-done some good things as well. Such as-
"-YOU BETTER STOP-"
-when he'd helped to dig up Des. He'd been the only one of them to keep calm-
"-OR ELSE I'LL-"
-during the terrifying situation. Calmer than-
"-RIP OUT YOUR THROAT-"
-Thor had been, that was for sure. The SandWing had even-
"AND FEED YOUR BLEEDING CARCASS TO THE GULLS!"
-thought to- Wait what? Bleeding carcass? to the gulls? as in seagulls?
"YES."
And how do you plan on doing that?
"I'll find you and murder you in your sleep," the SkyWing growled.
Well that's definitely possible, especially since you're a fictional character-
Suddenly a large, rumbling noise started. The ground shook violently.
"WHAT IS THAT-"
Oh no...
Not good.
No bueno.
"WHAT?!"
Then the fourth wall crumbled to pieces.
