Awake
"We all want to break our orbits, float like a satellite gone wild in space, run the risk of disintegration. We all want to take our lives in our own hands and hurl them out among the stars."

They were there laying on the sand motionless. At this point it didn't even look like they were sleeping. It looked like they were dead.
It took a half an hour for one if them to stir.
It was Gar.
"Ugh my head..." he looked around. "Dick, Kori, Vic? What happened?" Then he saw Raven laying in the ground gracefully covered my her cloak. "Raven? I...remember. I wasn't supposed to was I?" He sees the gem on the ground. "Oh yeah. I made her drop this. This must have been what was supposed to make everyone else forget. The penny must have been for herself."
He walked over to Raven and opened her still clenched fist. The penny was sitting inside. He took it and stuffed them both on his pocket.
"I'm the only one up. I can't just leave them here. By morning people are going to be asking questions." He decided he was going to try to get everyone home.
He started with Raven. He picked her up bridal style and started heading for the apartment.
For some reason he went through the back door. He went up the elevator and took a right turn. His appartment was at the end of the hallway.
He quickly unlocked the door and went inside. The couch and the coffee table were back and the TV was fixed. He knew then and there that Raven had come in there the night before. What did she do?
Who knows?
He laid her on her bed gently and went back out.
Next was Kori. She was about the same weight as Raven. Just a bit heavier because she was taller. This did not impede his progress though as he got her to her room in almost the same amount of time.
When he got back to the beach, Vic was sitting up clutching his head.
"Vic!" He ran to his friend's aid. "Are you ok?"
"Ugh...yeah. I'm fine. I've got a bad headache is all."
"You remember what happened?"
"Yeah. Weren't we supposed to forget?"
"I think the gem was what was supposed to make us forget and the penny was supposed to make her forget. Bit when I grabbed her cloak she dropped the gem."
"That's why we still remember everything." Gar nods.
"Where's Kori?"
"I brought her and Raven into the house already. Can you help me with Dick?" He nods and gets up. The two throw Dick's arms over their shoulders and walk him to the back door.
They put him on his bed and walk back into the living room.
"Looks like Raven returned our couch."
"And our coffee table."
"So she was in here?" Gar nodded slowly. "Must've been grabbin' stuff for the potion thing. I'm gonna check my room later."
"Same." They sit on the new-old couch. "You think they're going to be ok?"
"Kori and Dick? Yes. Raven? Don't know."
"Why do you say that?"
"How would you react if you woke up in a house you've never seen, with people you don't know calling your name?"
"I'd be scared." He answered honestly.
"Exactly."
"Hopefully she won't react that way." They sit in silence for a bit, listening to the very few cars and things go around outside.
"Well, I'm gonna get a some more sleep. A half hour didn't do me justice for last night."
"Eh. I'll stay up. Not really that tired." Gar replies.
"Alright. Night man." With that he's left alone.
He instantly flashes back to the night before when Raven kissed him. He wishes it had lasted a little longer.
Gar sits with himself in silence waiting for something to happen.
Clearly bored, he gets up and goes to the back quickly.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
Still very dark. But the street lights of the city keep everything somewhat alive.
He looks down the coast to see the rest of the city trailing off over the bridge. He never really realized how far they live. They are on a rather far end of the city as he can see almost the entire city from just standing there.
Amazing the things you find out when you're bored.
He walks back inside and stops at Raven's room. He doesn't even open it. He just stares at the door intently. Waiting for someone to come out and give him a hug.
That's when he snaps back into reality and that reality is where he left the darn thing wide open.
Figures.
He walked in and stood in the doorway. Raven hasn't moved at all from the position he left her in.
At the very least he expected her to do something. But he realised it wasn't anywhere close to 6 AM let alone 3.
But just as soon as he took one step out of the room, he heard the bed's metal framing groan along with the springs and he turned around to see the purple haired girl sitting up straight rubbing her head.
"Nnnn... Wha-? Where am I?"
"Raven!" A smile lit up his face.
"Ahh!" In all the excitement Raven ended up closing the door with her magic smacking Garfield inside.
"Ouch..." He rubbed his back in pain. But he didn't have much time to. Raven quickly got up and pushed him into the closet. She held the door closed with her whole body. She had a constrained look on her face filled with distress and a little bit of fear. "Hey! What are you doing?" She does this so quickly that she doesn't even get a good look at his face.
"You don't get to ask questions!" Her voice was firm. "Who are you and why did you bring me here?"
Then there were footsteps heading towards the room.
"Gar? Raven? You ok?" Vic's voice called down the hallway. He opened the door with Dick and Kori behind him with ice packs on their heads. "Raven what's going on?"
Even more distress creeps across her face.
She gasps and leaps off the door into the farthest corner of the room from everyone else. Gar slowly comes out of the closet and she raises her hands to the all of them.
"Who are you people?!" Her hands are steady but her voice wavers, loosing it's firmness it had before.
"Easy Raven. Were friends." Dick comes forward.
"Don't take another step!" She threatens.
"Friend Raven please do not worry." Kori steps out.
"Yeah. Were not gonna hurt you." Gar adds. Raven lowers her hands.
"Gar...Kori...Names..." she speaks in incoherent manner. "How do I know these names?"
"I am Kori. That is Gar."
"Those are...your names? Who are you?"
"At least she remembers something." Vic states. She flattens herself up against the wall, frozen in fear.
"Calm down Raven. You can trust us." Dick says reassuringly. He creeps a little closer to her.
She looks at the ground.
"I SAID don't come any closer! Gar...Kori...Vic...Dick...names..." she speaks again in that same incoherent way.
"You remember all of our names!" Kori cheers.
"Am...am I supposed to know you?"
"Yes we are your friends!" Kori informs her.
"You...friends...I..."
"Come out from the corner ok?" Gar holds his hand out to her.
After staring at it for a few seconds, she reluctantly took it.
Gar smiled and pulled her out of the corner.
"Better?" She nods.
"I'm sorry. I had a little panic attack." She replies quietly. "Who are you people?"
"You've been living with us for about a month." Dick starts.
"We know about your powers. It's ok." Gar says and smiles.
"You do? I told you? I must've trusted you then..." they all nod.
"I don't know where I am..."
"It's alright. You're safe here." Vic reassures her.
"I'm safe here... from what?" She asks innocently.
"Wow. You really don't remember. You should be fine though. If you ever need to leave somebody will go with you." Dick says.
"Thank you... Do you...know what happened to me? It seems like I lost my memory." They all look at eachother.
"Uhh...Lets just talk about that later. Not at 1 AM." Dick says.
"Yeah." They all agree.
"Let's go back to sleep. Vic has football tomorrow morning."
"Good night Raven. Glad you're up." They all happily leave the room except Garfield. He stays. They stare at eachother for a while. Then Gar finally smiles.
"Gar was it? It's weird."
"What is?"
"Your name came up in my head first. Before I even saw you. For some reason your name just popped up..." Gar knows why.
"That is weird."
"Youre different aren't you?" He raises an eyebrow.
"What?"
"You're different from the others. I can tell. You don't think like them do you?"
"No not necessarily."
"There's just something..." she takes a long sigh. "Sorry again for my panic attack. I just..."
"Its ok Raven. Just go to sleep. You probably need it."
"You're not wrong."
"Night." Gar smiles as he closes the door. She tried to reach out to him but pulled her hand back.
Now she is in the room alone.
She looks on the nightstand under the opened window. There's a ball of paper. She in crumples it to find a very poorly handwritten note.
We've found you. Now we'll get you. The catch? You don't know when.
"What?" Her pupils dilate with slight fear. "Get me? Why?"
She puts the paper down and gets into the bed.
"Who's after me?" She goes back to sleep trying to think who would be after her, and she ended up giving herself nightmares. Which she rarely ever has.
