Kimiko Halls is the niece to Master Hamato Yoshi, or most commonly known as Master Yoshi. Her mother, Hamato Makoto, followed her brother to New York from Japan several years after Yoshi left. It is then in New York Makoto meets a young police sergeant Connor Halls. The two marry and have two children together, everything seemed normal for this little family, but everything changes when Kimiko's uncle is murdered by the Shredder.

Makoto suddenly returns to Japan, leaving Connor to take care of their children, alone. Kimiko grows up to be angry that the police can't do anything to bring the one who killed her uncle to justice, and in reaction she starts to act out by joining a well known dangerous street gang know as the Purple Dragons.

She broke into cars, pit pocketed wallets and purses and even robbed a store once, but she never did anything to hurt anyone, but someone did end up getting hurt when the Purple Dragons struck too close to home. Hun, leader of the Purple Dragons wants to teach, wants to send a message to NYPD, by going after their sergeant, Connor Halls. The Purple Dragons break into the Halls home and are surprised to find a member of their group was living there was well, but this didn't stop Hun. He goes to shoot the sergeant and the youngest Halls daughter, but Kimiko has friends in "high" places. Four turtle brothers and their rat father work with the once Purple Dragon member in an effort to save her family and show her that it's not too late to change.
