Chapter Four: We Meet Again

THE GIRL WITH NO NAME POV

It was going to be a long walk home. the rain was pouring as I walked home. My bag and clothes were already soaked. Such a bad ending to such a great day.

I walked down the familiar street, passing the familiar brown houses with white picket fences lining their lawns. The houses watched me intently, keen on not missing anything. Taunting me with their warmth and comfort. Almost home, I crossed the road closer and closer to home.

Cars zoomed past me, going at dangerous speeds. My heart lurched as a car honked loudly from behind me. I turned to see a silver car. A Ferrari. It slowed down to match my pace and it rolled down its windows.

"Hop in, "A familiar voice yelled out of the car.

"Sorry, but I'm not in the mood for getting kidnapped today!" I retorted and continued walking home. I wouldn't want to mess up the nice leather-clad interior of it anyway.

The car honked at me, to the tune of 'La Cucaracha'. Well, he's got skills. That's for sure.

"Get in the car!" He yelled again, obviously annoyed.

Jeez. Take a hint man.

I slammed the door shut and sat down next to a girl with the same black hair and earbuds in the sleek interior, worried I'd damage it from the rain.

She looked up at me, her eyebrows raised.

"Rayne." She stuck out her hand to me.

"Well, obviously." I motioned to outside, where to rain continued to pour.

Sebastian looked at me through the mirror. If looks could kill, I'd have already died by now.

"Her name is Rayne."

Oh. Well, I just felt like the biggest idiot on the planet.

"S..sorry" I muttered, my face blushing in embarrassment.

"Where's your house?" He pulled over, looking at me.

I frantically looked through my soaked bag. I went into the small pocket as I pulled out the now-crumped piece of paper.

I struggled to read the scribbled writing. God, since when was my writing that bad?

Rayne reached over and gently snatched the piece of paper from my hands.

"857 Pine drive" She read with absolutely no struggle at all.

Sebastian nodded his head and drove. Five minutes, ten minutes, and we finally arrived at my house. I hopped out of the car, "Thanks." I hopped out of the car, walking towards the entrance.

Looking up, I stopped dead in my tracks.

There was somebody at my door. I rushed up to them as my face fell.

"There you are, sunshine." He drawled.

"I told you never to see me again." I hissed, my heart speeding up as the horrid past came back up, all at once like vomit. "Go away, Scott."

"Wow. Thanks for the warm welcome. You really have gotten cold over the years."

"How did you even find me?" I demanded, my stomach dropped.

Scott, my mad ex, had found me, again.

"Was my warning not enough for your small little brain?" He took a step closer, I felt his hot musty reeking breath tickling my face as he cracked a menacing smile and raised his arm. My eyes watered and I flinched, waiting for the impact but there was none.

"Can't you take a hint?" I heard a voice call out in front of me. "When a girl tells you to go away, you go away!" I looked up to see Rayne holding Scott in a headlock, him fighting for his breath and her screaming in his ear.

I looked back to see Sebastian on the phone, talking under his breath. I couldn't really catch much, but I did hear him say my name. Like that would be any use.

"Ray! Let's go." Sebastian grabbed my wrist and pushed me into the backseat of his car.

Rayne delivered a final blow and got into the car, putting an earbud in.

"Sorry about that," I muttered, apologizing for the second time today.

"What's his problem?" Rayne and Sebastian asked me both at the same time. "Jinx."

I had a flashback of when we were together. Scott was a nice kid, he never did anything wrong. but slowly he became more and more demeaning. He started partying and drinking, slowly becoming the man he is today.

"Nothing," I whispered, looking out the window at the landscape of trees, all different colours. Some red, some orange, and some were still green. Blissfully oblivious to the fact that fall was already here.

We drove back to their house. It was a two-story medieval manor, with beautiful shrubs and large trees lining the stone path.

Jeez, is everyone here rich?

*********

I took a steamy shower, the water scalding my skin trying to wash off all that had happened today. The scent of the jasmine soap filled the gigantic bathroom, calming my haywire nerves.

I fiddled with the shower, trying to turn it off, as freezing water rained down on me. I was eventually able to turn it off, after blasts of freezing and burning hot water.

Enveloped in the warm, fuzzy towel I sat on the bathroom floor, inhaling the steam and drawing pictures on the large gold-rimmed mirror. I stood up and saw a zippered Nike bag. Opening it there were a couple articles of clothing.

I looked through the stack and found something that might work. It was a pair of black denim jeans and a blue tank-top. I dressed, carrying the rest of the clothing as I left the bathroom and walked down the halls. I was alone and lost in a stranger's house.

The best thing to do when you're lost is to wait until somebody finds you.

So I waited, trying to keep my eyelids open and they drooped with sleep-deprivation. After many lost attempts, I closed them. Just for a minute, I thought. Just for a minute.
