"I'm on my way, just keep an eye on André for me would you?"

"Keep an eye on him? Why?" She asked, confused.

"I'll tell you everything later, just do as I say" I instructed and hung up.

I drove as fast as I could but unfortunate the mall was a little bit far from her house. I just hoped I could get there before he actually did anything to her. They were in a restaurant which was a public place, so he couldn't physically hurt her as that would create a scene. That left just one thing he could do...spike her food or drink and just then I received a call from Clover.

"Hello, any news?" I asked, picking the call putting it on speakerphone because I was driving.

"Yes, I just saw André slip something in Dani's drink. What's going on?" She asked confused.

"Oh shit. I'm almost there, but try everything you can to stop her from taking that drink before I come Clover" I instructed frantically.

"Alright alright" she replied and hung up. Ugh, could this car fly already?, I thought as I took the last turn onto the street of the mall.

As soon as I got there, I burst in attracting the attention of most of the customers but I didn't care, I scanned the room for Dani and I spotted her at the far end of the room with André. Clover was also standing there, a tray in hand so I went over to meet them.

"Blake?" Dani called, shocked and a bit excited to see me "What are you doing here?"

"Did she take it?" I asked Clover, ignoring Dani's question. After she replied with a no, I went straight for Andrè. I took a hold of his collar and dragged him out and towards the door. That's right, I was pissed.

"Hey what are you doing?" He said, trying to pry my hands off "What's going on? Leave me!"

"What are you doing Blake, leave him" Dani also called, following us out with Clover in tow.

"Go back and tell Miguel to never trespass into our territory again" I said, throwing him onto the street.

"What? What's going on? Who's Miguel?" He pretended, straightening his shirt.

"Don't you dare pretend you scum, I know who you are and why you're here and let me tell you that as long as I'm here, I'll never let anyone harm Dani" I said, pointing a finger at him. Just then Dani and Clover came out.

"Blake would you please tell me what is going on? Why did you pull him out like that?" Dani asked coming out and standing in front of me. She was about to go meet André when I dragged her back.

"Don't go near him Dani. He's very dangerous" I said, going in front of her.

"Dangerous how? What going on?" André asked again. His pretence was really getting to me and before I knew what was happening, I was going for a punch to his face but the sound of Clover's worried voice stopped me.

"Dani? Dani!" She called and I turned back to see that Dani had fallen on the ground and was now unconscious. I rushed over to her and tried waking her up.

"Dani! Dani, wake up come on" I called, the anger I had dissipating as panic and fear took over "I thought you said she didn't take the drink" I said to Clover.

"She didn't" she replied as tears welled in her eyes.

"Oh so you knew about that" André's voice said, making us look at him "I wondered why you suddenly came over. You're quite sharp you know, I swear I made sure no one was watching. Anyways, you've saved your friend from dying soon but unfortunately I also spiked her food"

"You bastard!" Clover yelled going over to him but I stopped her before she could reach him. She didn't know how dangerous he was but I did.

"Listen, he's a very dangerous person and he probably has a weapon on him, so you watch over Dani while I take care of him" I said to her to calm her down. She finally stopped struggling and then I went over to him.

"What did you put in her food?" I asked, carefully in a threatening tone.

"Oh you know just half a dose of a slow killing poison. Well....the other half was in the drink but she didn't drink that so, she'll die, but it'll take longer" he explained.

I felt my heart sink after that and I lunged at him. The first thing I did was to land my fists squarely on his jaw, making him stagger backwards and then I went over to Dani. At the moment, getting her to a hospital was my top priority and so I carried her and placed her in the backseat of my car.

Clover couldn't leave without permission so she said she'd meet me at the hospital. Ignoring the triumphant look on André's face and resisting the urge to go back and beat him to a pulp, I got into the driver's seat and drove off. I was going to deal with him later.

I drove to the nearest hospital and carried her in, shouting for a doctor and that it was an emergency. A stretcher was rolled out and she was placed on it. White foam was beginning to pour out of her mouth by then and I felt the tears well up in my eyes. I was scared shitless, so many questions were running through my mind and my heart beat faster.

She was taken into a ward to be examined and I was asked to wait outside. Some minutes later, Clover called, interrupting my pacing and asked which hospital we were at. After informing her, she said she was on her way and hung up.

I went back to the reception to complete the hospital formalities and then returned. After some time, the doctor came out and I rushed over to him.

"How is she now doctor? Were we in time?" I rushed out.

"Fortunately you were and we were able to administer an antidote before it spread too far into her system" he explained.

"Oh God" I breathed out, my hands on my chest "Thanks doctor. Is she awake now? Can I go see her?"

"Not yet, she should be soon though" he replied and excused himself. I sat down, feeling like a heavy weight was lifted off my heart and I felt myself grinning from ear to ear. I didn't know what I'd have done if I had lost her. Just then Clover arrived.

"Where is she? Is she okay?" Clover rushed out, upon getting to me.

"Calm down Clover, she's fine now. The doctor gave her some kind of antidote to stop the spread of the poison but she's not awake yet" I explained, making her seat.

"Thank God" she breathed out as tears of joy fell from her cheeks. She took some minutes to calm down before she asked "What was that about Blake? Who is André Parker and why did he try to kill Dani?"

"That's a long story and I don't think it's my place to tell you all about it" I replied. Dani hadn't told her about the big secret and I didn't want to be the one to do it.

My mind then went back to how I found out, how she got angry when I pestered her to tell me what was going on, to her multiple ID cards and finally to why she was so scared of the gun she found in my desk the other day. Luckily, I realized that was the reason she was acting wierd and managed to convince her that it was a toy gun with an actual toy gun I had gotten earlier that morning before school.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked, snapping me out of my thoughts

"Dani would be awake soon and so she'll tell you everything alright?"

"Alright fine" she gave up and we went silent.

I still felt a lot of mixed emotions and I needed to relax, so I excused myself to go to the washroom.

After getting directions from a passing nurse, I found it and went in. Hunched over a water basin, I looked at myself in the wide mirror hanging just above the row of water basins. I ran a hand through my hair and then washed my face.

I felt happy, sad, angry and whole lot more emotions that I couldn't even name in one. I hadn't felt that way since my parents died and I just realized what it felt like to fear losing someone I cared so much about. It took something this big to help me realise it and so I decided to at least let her know how I felt, not minding if she didn't feel the same.

I looked in the mirror again and noticed that I looked stressed and it was all thanks to that idiot.

At the thought of him, my anger overshadowed every other emotion I was feeling and I dug my fingers into my palm. I was so going to murder him.

I walked out of the washroom and as if on cue, I spotted none other than Parker heading in the direction of Dani's ward. Why was he here?

"Why the fuck are you here?" I called out, voicing my thoughts. At the sound of my voice, he stopped and turned to face me.

"Harper, just the guy I was looking for" he greeted, a sly smile on his face "How is she doing?"

"That's none of your business" I retorted, taking steps closer to him.

"Of course it is. I'm not that heartless you see, I didn't mean to kill her. I meant to get information about the pendrive from her in exchange for the antidote" he sneered, making me even angrier - if that was possible. "But then you came along and ruined everything and now she just might die"

"She's not going to die" I simply said.

"Oh. So I assume they had the antidote here? Well that's good, it'd be a shame for her to die in vain you see"

"Get the fuck out of here, before I lose it" I threatened in a low tone.

"Without seeing how she's doing? Of course not. I'm still innocent André Parker to her remember?"

"We'll know what you are to her once she finds out about everything you are and what you did" I retorted.

"And you?" He asked, a smug smile on his face.

"What about me?" I asked confused.

"What will you be to her once she finds out that you're also a Viper" he asked slyly and that was when it hit me. She didn't know I was also a Viper and I didn't know how she'd react if she ever found out. I never intended to tell her, but what if she somehow found out? What if this dim wit told her? What if she didn't understand that even though my parents were part of the gang, I was no longer part of them? Oh shit.

"From the look on your face, I'm guessing, you didn't think that through huh?" he said, making me look back at him "Expose me and expose yourself"

"I would deal with whatever consequences that come after, but I would definitely expose you to her" I said firmly, glaring at him.

"Alright then mate, be strong because your little lovestruck heart is about to be broken" he said, feigning sympathy and before I knew what was happening, I landed a punch square on his jaw.

I was angry at him for what he had done to Dani, I was angry at him for probably being right and most importantly, I was angry at myself for the future pain I'd cause Dani when she found out about this.
