"Line up and board the bus properly!"
Classes 1-A and 1-B gathered at the school for the long-awaited summer camping trip. Since it was the first time the whole class travelled together, everyone was hyped. On the bus, the class chatted happily and passed around treats, causing a cacophony that irked Aizawa-sensei.
I was sitting in the far end of the bus, enjoying the empty seats all by myself when a ruckus in front drew my attention.
"Todoroki, why don't I switch places with you?" said Midoriya in the far front. "I'm much smaller."
"It's okay," was Todoroki's calm reply.
Ashido stifled a laughter. "Todoroki looks completely out of character sitting on a foldable chair!"
I stretched my neck out and took a peek. Todoroki was sitting on a small foldable chair in the middle of the walkway, so that the ill Aoyama could lie down on two seats. It was such a small chair that it did not look comfortable for someone of Todoroki's size.
I chuckled. Such a kind boy. Looks kinda' cute too.
"...... does anyone care if I look out of character sitting on a foldable chair?" Todoroki replied, confused.
"Todoroki! You could sit in the back with Eria, you know!" Hagakure suggested.
"But she said she wanted to enjoy the ride alone in the back."
"It's okay, Todoroki. I don't mind," I said.
Hearing my answer, Todoroki's face lit up even though his facial expressions were barely visible. Carefully he treaded across the walkway while the bus moved rather steadily.
"Hi," said Todoroki with a small smile.
"Hey."
We stayed silent for the most of the trip, occasionally sharing some small talk. An hour later, the bus stopped for a toilet break. I stepped down the bus, enjoying the fresh air but weirdly, there was no toilet anywhere. It was a small empty cliff with a dense forest below.
Suddenly, four pro heroes named the Wild Wild Pussycats came out from the limousine that was parked at the cliff before our arrival. Aizawa-sensei announced the summer camp training has already begun, to our horror. The earth beneath us rumbled like an earthquake and it exploded, sending all of the students in the air and falling down to the forest below.
The current task was to reach the base camp before lunch while facing countless 'monsters' on the way. These monsters were created from the earth by one of the Pussycats pro hero, Pixie Bob. Since it was made from earth, it could be easily defeated yet it also meant with its abundant source, we would be facing hundreds of them along the way.
In the beginning, everyone was pumped to take down the monsters. But as time passed, fatigue slowed us down and our empty stomachs worsened things.
It was torturing for me to operate on an empty stomach. My quirk tends to use up a lot of energy so I needed time to recuperate or eat to replenish my energy. However, the current situation was not allowing me time to rest. Every time after I punched a monster into pieces, another one showed up.
Oh well, I'll just have to take this as some endurance test and push myself beyond my limits.
Usually, I could maintain my quirk up to two hours non-stop. Now, that limit had long passed. It was straining myself to keep my demon form activated and the overuse of my Sixth Sense made my head spin.
"Are you alright?" Shoji asked as one of his limbs pulled me away from a monster that tumbled down.
I shook my head. "How long more till the base camp?"
One of his eyes looked into the depths of the forest. "I think at least another hour by foot," he replied.
I groaned. One more hour. One more hour.
I chanted those words in my mind as I gathered all my strength and destroyed two monsters in front of me. Letting out a frustrated battle cry, I charged forward into another newly summoned monster and destroyed it easily. My legs gave away and I sat on the cool ground, panting for air.
"Get out of the way, demon girl!"
Irked, I parried a blow from a monster while sitting and crushed its arm. Meanwhile, Bakugou blew the rest of it into dust.
"I told you to get of the way!" Bakugou shouted at me. He looked battered and exhausted, despite having the energy to yell at me.
I stared at him, finding speaking was a waste of energy and stayed quiet.
"You don't seem fine," Todoroki commented with concern as he froze a monster in place and let Midoriya do the rest.
"Maybe I can use my quirk and help you float for... awhile..." Ochako covered her mouth, trying to hold back the vomit.
I gave them a thumbs-up and stood back up even though my legs were wobbly. I continued to fight with my classmates until the sun dyed the sky a reddish hue. Finally, we broke through the forest and reached the base camp, where the pro heroes and Aizawa-sensei were waiting.
My quirk disappeared and I landed on the ground, face-flat. Shoji's helpful arm helped me up and lent me one of his arms as a support. When the pro heroes spoke, nothing went into my mind.
Except the word 'dinner'.
Dinner never tasted so delicious. Everyone ate as much as they could to please the beasts in their stomachs. When I tasted the food in my mouth, it was heaven. I gobbled one bowl in five minutes and took another one; my rambunctious appetite was not easily satisfied by one bowl of rice.
After dinner, it was free time and we decided to relax our tired souls in the hot springs. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the warmth that soothed every fibre of my being.
"Are the boys enjoying the hot springs too?" asked Hagakure.
"Oh god no. Mineta," spat Jirou with disgust. "He's going to do something."
"But the walls are tall, so there's no way—"
"He can climb with his quirk, you know."
The girls fell into dead silence.
"No worries, that boy Kouta will be our lookout. He'll stop Mineta."
Ah, that little boy who kicked Midoriya in the groin.
Still drained, I decided to leave for bed early. I bid the girls farewell, dressed myself in a comfortable yukata and walked to the girls' room. My stomach growled once more when I passed by the vending machine.
"Supper time then," I muttered.
"Ah, Takasaki."
I turned around. Todoroki was clad in a blue yukata; his hair was still dripping wet.
"You're out early," he commented and peered at the vending machine.
"I'm tired. I need to sleep now," I replied, opening the snack I bought. "You're out early too."
"I don't really like warm water."
Distant screams resonated from the outdoor hot springs into the indoors. "I'm guessing Mineta then," I commented.
"He did say something weird about walls are meant to be climbed," Todoroki added.
Silently we stared at each other for a while. A water drop dripped from Todoroki's hair onto his shoulder which reminded me of something.
"Since you can create fire, do you dry your own hair?" I abruptly asked.
He stared at me with slightly widened eyes. "No. I've never thought of that."
"It would be pretty efficient."
"Then let me try to dry your hair."
I jolted. Instinctively I touched my hair. "No."
"But you're fire-resistant."
"That's when I use my quirk. Dry your own hair."
"That's not fun," he commented.
I shook my head desperately. "I will punch you if you burn my hair."
Todoroki instinctively covered his stomach. "Please don't."
I chuckled and a smile spread on his face.
***
At the break of dawn, the whole class gathered outside of the base, sleepy and weary. It was the first day of training yet no one was looking forward to it.
Aizawa-sensei explained that despite the experiences we have accumulated, our quirks had not grown stronger at all. Thus, we have to strengthen our quirks for the whole week using any methods necessary.
The first day was undoubtably the hardest. While everyone was isolated in their own tiny spaces, training their quirks to their limits, Aizawa-sensei told me to wait. He handed me a thick blindfold and a pair of soundproof headphones.
"Put these on and block all your senses," he demanded. "I want you to use your Sixth Sense and walk around the entire field to find all your classmates. Use this training to sharpen your Sixth Sense and to endure its side effects. You have two hours."
Using my Sixth Sense for two hours straight might cause severe effects such as vomiting and fainting. But for the sake of going beyond my limits, I had to do it.
I put on the blindfold and headphones as instructed and activated my quirk. I could activate my Sixth Sense without activating my demon quirk so I wouldn't face the problem of exhausting my energy.
With my eyes blinded, all I could sense were faceless greyish-white figures standing in a black open space. They were the humans. I could also ascertain other objects such as a stone in front of my feet, trees next to me and butterflies dancing in the bushes. Unlike the human vision, the range of my quirk could achieve 360 degree around me. The longest range I could sense was 100 meters. Aizawa-sensei might want me to extend my range to 150 meters or more.
Bravely I walked towards the nearest faceless figure. It was standing next to a large metal barrel and exploding something into the air for every few seconds. When I reached it, it stopped what it was doing and I assumed it was talking to me or just staring me. The soundproof headphones made hearing things difficult.
In order to recognize the faceless figure, I touched its head. Its hair was slightly spiky yet fluffy.
"Bakugou, check," I said, without taking out my blindfold to check. Before he could blow me up in the face, I left. I swore I could still hear him curse through the headphones.
Next to Bakugou were a gang of people exercising and flexing their muscles. One of them had hairstyles similar to Midoriya. I walked toward him, touched his hair and pulled down my blindfold to check. It was really him. Midoriya, check.
The next two people were a large figure with multiple limbs like Shoji and a tiny figure who kept hiding from the former. They looked like they were dancing. I touched the both of them and checked Shoji and Hagakure off my list.
I slowly wandered off to the next person. This person was weirder than the previous. He was sitting in a metal barrel instead. His movements stopped when I watched him silently. I walked towards him and patted his head, but unsure of who this weird person was.
His hair was smooth under my touch. I wondered who had hair that smooth.
As if the person was irked, he peeled my hand away and pulled my blindfold off. I immediately stared into Todoroki's gorgeous eyes.
"Stop touching me," Todoroki hissed. Our eyes met and we stared at each other silently.
I thought Todoroki's eyes were always beautiful, but they gleamed more beautifully under the sun. I especially loved his left eye—it was the colour of turquoise sea.
Abruptly, Todoroki let go of my hand and backed off like a surprised animal, only to cause the barrel he was in lose balance and he fell to the ground.
"Todoroki?!"
He climbed out of the barrel, soaking wet. My maiden heart skipped a beat to see him soaked while wearing a sleeveless shirt that showed his muscles.
Crap.
"Y-you okay?" I tried hard to not stare at him and drool.
Todoroki rubbed his head. "I got startled and lost balance."
"Why?" It sounded like I was a horrifying monster.
He hesitated to answer. "...... because your eyes were beau—"
"Takasaki." The voice of a death reaper in my headphones made me cringe. "30 minutes gone yet you only found 5. You don't have much time left."
Hearing Aizawa-sensei's lazy yet intimidating voice directly in my ears gave me a heart attack. "Sorry! I'm on it!" I hurriedly left Todoroki and continued my task. After a while, I completely forgot about Todoroki's answer for the whole day.
In the next hour, I found Aoyama laying on the ground shooting his laser and Ochako rolling in a ball. I dodged an incoming Iida, discovered Yaomomo and Satou eating (I took some tidbits for my own). I also found Ashido and Jirou by a cliff, Mineta crying in pain, Kaminari being fried into an idiot, Sero exhausted from using too many tapes, Kouda shouting in the forest, Tsuyu climbing a cliff, Kirishima and Ojirou fighting. I even ventured into a dark cave to find Tokoyami and petted Dark Shadow by his head.
"You're still late," Aizawa-sensei said as I refrained from puking. "Finishing the task 5 minutes before the deadline is not good enough. I'll cut short the time tomorrow."
I laid on the solid ground as the scorching sun seared my skin. At least I felt better watching the sun.
"You don't look good," Ochako sat beside me, her face was green and her lips pale.
"Right back at you," I muttered weakly.
"Here, have some sweets. It'll ease the nausea," said Yaomomo as she made some sweets from her quirk. She sat down, trying to hold herself from vomiting the excessive food she ate.
"Weeee~" a short-circuited Kaminari circled us, showing a thumbs-up.
A battered Kirishima and injured Ojirou joined us. They were both scarred from the wounds they inflicted on each other. Soon, we were also joined by a sick Aoyama, a tired Sero and a bleeding Mineta. We were all depressed that the training was far from over.
In the evening, we had to cook our own dinner. Tonight's menu was chicken curry. Class 1-A and 1-B worked together to prepare the meals. Todoroki became popular as he was needed for his fire. He was smiling softly as he used the fire he once hated to help out his classmates.
A jealous Bakugou was prompted to start a fire with his explosions.
"Bakugou, no," I warned, watching from beside his stove.
He clicked his tongue and blew up the whole stove, along with his, Tokoyami and Sero's dinner. Angrily, Bakugou left, probably to make a new dinner.
I struggled with the tiny box of matches in my hand. The fragile matches broke every time I tried to light it.
"I'll help," said Todoroki as he appeared beside me and lit up the stove easily. He put his dinner next to mine for it to cook.
"Thanks," I muttered. We squatted by the stove, watching our dinner meticulously. I refrained myself for glancing at my friend, who was being so close to me that our shoulders almost touched.
Stop acting like some lovesick girl! You've been so close to him all the time!
No matter how many times I told myself that, I could not stop my pounding heart being so close to Todoroki.
I wondered if he ever felt the same thing I did.

The second day was another tenuous day. I strained my brain for using my Sixth Sense without resting for three hours straight. When Aizawa-sensei said I passed, I never felt so grateful to have my senses back. After that, I did physical training with Midoriya and the pro hero Tiger for another three hours straight. With my demon quirk activated for three hours long, I was amazed that I could still stand after my energy was drained. It seemed the stressful training extended my physical limitations.
At night, the girls of class 1-A were joined by Kendo, Shiozaki and Kodai from class 1-B. We decided to have a girls-only gathering and we sat in a circle on cushions, with drinks and snacks prepared.
I never joined a girls' gathering before, but I knew what topic they would discuss.
"Let's talk about love!"
It was a common topic that easily sparked everyone's interest. Some girls' eyes gleamed with excitement while some looked slightly awkward and shy.
"Does anyone here have a boyfriend?" Hagakure chirped excitedly. No one answered. "Eh?! No one?"
I assumed everyone was too preoccupied with their studies to have free time to date people.
Ashido was unpleased. She was always the kind of person who would dig deep into romances just to get the answer. She glanced at everyone and gave me a sly look. I shuddered. "Well then, does anyone have a crush on anyone?"
I remained composure when Todoroki's face appeared in my mind. No one would suspect me. But my dear friend Ochako here was beginning to fluster. She could hardly lie even though she was silent. Her face was blooming red.
"Ochako, why is your face all red?"
I stifled a laugh.
"Do you like someone?"
Ochako flustered. "N-no! Of course not!"
"Come on, tell us!" "We won't tell the boys!" Ashido and Hagakure combined forces to grill poor Ochako.
Ochako covered her face in embarrassment. Her quirk accidentally activated and I held onto her to make sure she didn't float to the ceiling.
Not getting their answers, the romance duo changed another question. "Well then, if you get to date someone from class 1-A and 1-B, who would it be?"
Todoroki's face plagued my mind again.
"No way, they're just classmates. I don't see them as potential boyfriends," said Jirou, rolling her eyes.
Yaomomo nodded. "I see them as comrades and competitors too."
After some more denials, Kendo spoke. "Monoma has the looks, but his personality..." she shook her head.
I remembered Monoma as the annoying and arrogant blond who liked to contest with my class in everything.
"Speaking of handsome guys, we have a Todoroki," Ashido commented.
Everyone formed a 'oh' with their mouths and nodded in agreement. No one could deny the fact that Todoroki was handsome and a good boyfriend candidate.
"He's Endeavour's son, right?"
The girls let out a sigh. No matter how perfect Todoroki was, Endeavour as his father seemed to scared off the girls.
Ashido wagged her finger. "Endeavour won't be able to stop Todoroki from being your boyfriend..." she smirked at me. "......right, Eria?"
I choked while everyone gasped in surprise. Ochako stifled a chuckle.
"You're dating Todoroki?!"
"NO!" I denied. "We're just best friends! Platonic best friends!"
"I don't believe in platonic friendship between you two!" Ashido retorted loudly. Hagakure agreed fiercely.
"Well, they seemed to be quite close, considering how Todoroki hardly befriends people," Tsuyu added.
"I saw the way Todoroki looks at you. That's not platonic~"
I rolled my eyes and slapped my forehead. "Todoroki has been an antisocial boy for a very long time, so I'm pretty certain he doesn't even know the meaning of 'love'."
"......till he met you~" sang Ashido. The girls giggled in response.
"Can't we talk something else other than me and Todoroki? It's a very dull topic!" I retorted desperately. The questions that skewered me were making my heart pound.
They shook their head.
I sighed miserably, enduring all the questions, denying all their assumptions while meticulously making sure I didn't spill any truths. My face was blushing red, which strengthened their beliefs.
Well, at least they were having fun.

On the third day of training, ironically, I was paired with Todoroki.
Aizawa-sensei wanted to train my resistance against elements, so I was paired with my best friend/ crush. Todoroki was his usual self, hardly suspecting the weird glances from the girls.
"Do you want to test ice first?" Todoroki asked.
"Sure," I replied, ignoring the girls.
The first round of ice was bone-chilling, but it was nothing I could not handle. I was frozen from my feet to my neck for different periods of time, with each time longer than the previous to test how long I could resist. The longest record I made was about 10 minutes but it was not a satisfactory feat.
When it was time to bring on the heat, Todoroki did his best to burn me before he reached his limit. The hottest raging fire he could produce felt like a warm cozy campfire to me. Todoroki was already overheated before he could hurt me.
"That's not enough," said Aizawa-sensei as he checked our accomplishments. "Todoroki, your fire should reach temperatures that could melt metals. It barely hurt Takasaki. But Takasaki, you need to train on your resistance on ice too. If you could resist fire that hot, I don't see why you can't resist ice that cold."
After that, Todoroki went on training on his own again to practice on using both elements at once. I was now paired with Kaminari so that Aizawa-sensei could test my resistance on electricity.
"I don't really want to hurt you," said Kaminari, hesitating.
"It's okay, I won't die," I said confidently.
Kaminari looked at me affectionately. "You are so... cool. Maybe we should go out on a date someday."
"Yeah, no," I rejected. "Sorry. Can we just focus?"
Dejected, Kaminari took in a deep breath. "Indiscriminate Discharge 1,300,000 Volts!"
A thunderstorm with yellow flashy lightning bolts charged towards me. In a split second, I was surrounded by multiple lethal lightnings that kissed my skin and left tiny burn marks all over me. It shocked me at first, numbing my entire body and senses. Yet as time passed, I grew accustomed to the electricity that felt like the tiny harmless jolts of static electricity.
Shock etched upon Kaminari's face. "Y-you're still standing?!" he gasped and a minute later, he transformed into his dumb face.

At night, The Wild Wild Pussycats prepared a test of courage for both classes as entertainment. The classes were to scare each other to see who could scare the most. It ignited a competitive streak between the two classes.
"I'm sorry but, the five students who failed must continue lessons with me," announced Aizawa-sensei coldly and he dragged the reluctant Ashido, Satou, Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero with him. Their screams resonated in the air as they disappeared into the forest.
The rest of class 1-A were divided into pairs as the scarees. My partner was Midoriya, who was getting antsy over the game. On the other hand, Todoroki was paired with Bakugou, in which the latter desperately requested a change with other classmates.
Twelve minutes into the game, Midoriya and I were still waiting for our turn. The distant shrieks from the depths of the forest made Midoriya shivered and made me excited. I was thinking of ways to use my quirk to scare class 1-B when someone mentioned of black smoke arising from the forest.
Did Todoroki or Bakugou accidentally set something on fire?
I didn't like the situation; my Sixth Sense was ringing alarms in my mind. The burning scent was getting thicker by the moment. It seemed like there was a huge mountain fire going on.
Out of nowhere, Pixie Bob was elevated into mid-air and pulled away by an invisible force. I tried to grab onto her but she was moving too fast. She landed beside two sketchy figures and one of them pummeled a large pillar in her head, rendering her unconscious.
The fear on our faces materialized as we realised the two people were villains.
For god's sake, can't these people leave us in peace?!
I tried to remain calm, but since my last encounter with villains, I was still mentally scarred from that experience. I hoped I could survive this without ever experiencing that paralysing fear again.
I hoped you were here with me, Todoroki.
***
"We are the Vanguard Action Squad of the League of Villains!" a green lizard-like guy announced proudly. He was dressed awfully like a cheap imitation of Stain. He gave a boastful speech about carrying Stain's dream and unveiled his weapon, which was a bunch of swords and knives bundled together into one.
Mandalay instructed all of us students to retreat to base camp, with Iida in charge. None of us were to engage with any villain while she and Tiger will be holding the villains back.
"Let's go!" Iida ordered us, but Midoriya hesitated.
"You guys go ahead!" Midoriya replied.
This idiot!
"I know where he is!" Midoriya called to Mandalay.
Mandalay stared back; her eyes filled with concern and hesitation. "Fine. Please bring him back safely."
Midoriya nodded and rushed off into the forest, ignoring our pleas.
"Let's go!" Iida tugged on my arm while I looked into the forest that shone brightly with blue flames.
All of you, better be safe. I prayed before I followed Iida, but my movements froze unexpectedly. My body elevated in the air and I was pulled further away from my friends. Iida and Ojirou failed to grab me as I was pulled across the open space and to one of the villains, just like Pixie Bob. When I landed next to the villain, Tiger's punch stopped right before it reached my face.
"Takasaki!" My friends shouted desperately.
"GO! We'll save her!" Mandalay shouted back while dodging the lizard guy's attack.
Iida gritted his teeth as anxiety drew upon his face. He reluctantly turned around and led the others to safety.
I activated my quirk before the villain tried to punch me into submission. I parried his blow easily and rolled away but it was futile. I was pulled back again, but this time Tiger intercepted and disrupted the villain's quirk.
I need to get as far as I can. I couldn't shake the thought that the villain was trying to catch me.
"Kid, get out of here!" Tiger shouted as he kept the villain busy.
I ran into the woods, unsure of the location of the base camp. I couldn't stay and fight; it would be a violation against the law. So, I kept running but even with my Sixth Sense, it was hard to discern my position within the chaos. The thick burnt scent of the smoke was suffocating. The blue fires were distracting.
I stopped to rest and calm myself down. My Sixth Sense quirk told me no one was around me, not even my friends. I was completely lost.
"Everyone in Class A and Class B!" Mandalay's voice appeared in my mind. "In the name of the pro hero, Eraser Head, you are granted permission in combat!"
That was good news, but not a reassuring one. It also meant the teachers would not be able to save everyone and someone was bound to get hurt.
Or die.
A minute later, Mandalay's voice reappeared. "We have discovered one of the villains' targets. It was one of the students, named 'Kacchan'!"
Wonderful. Just wonderful.
Maybe I should go to him. I need to protect him.
Someone stepped into my Sixth Sense's range.
I turned into the direction of the person; battle stance readied. Out of the dense woods was a lanky man, with thick pointy black hair and purplish wrinkled patches all over his skin. His eyes were turquoise, like the blue flames that raged the forest.
Shit.
"Look what we have here. A little lost lamb."
The villain's cold yet eerie voice sent chills down my spine, but I remained calm.
I pondered over my options: fight or flight. Even though Eraser Head granted permission, I didn't like fighting with the villain. I was afraid of his quirk, just like the last encounter.
What if he could conjure illusions? What if he could control minds?
"At least, this saved me the time looking for you."
Holy shit.
The villains were not only here for Bakugou.
They were here for me too.
