05 | After the villain attack
Eria
When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by sharp smells of antiseptic.
"Ahh, you're awake, girl," said a raspy voice. Recovery Girl sat on her chair beside my bed. "How you feelin'?"
"What am I doing here?" My voice croaked. Energy was completely sapped from my body.
"You fainted from overusing your quirk. Remember the attack at USJ? You were knocked out for a few hours."
Attack on USJ.
My memories were a little fuzzy but it all came back to me that instant. "I-is everyone alright?"
"Everyone's fine. Though, Thirteen, Aizawa, All Might and Midoriya that boy need to be temporarily hospitalised. Thank god the teachers arrived just in time. Kicked all those nasty villains' butts."
"W-what about Bakugou?"
"Huh? He's perfectly fine. No worries." Recovery Girl moved her chair closer to me. "Young lady, did you know what you just did?"
"......I fainted?"
She sighed. "You don't remember, do you? According to eye witnesses, it seemed you've awakened a stronger part of your quirk and saved that boy."
I still couldn't remember much. However, I did recall a new power surging through me that time.
"It would be nice to say your quirk saved people, but you seemed to have lost control over it. Lost all human sense. You've became like a real demon."
Real demon?!
Recovery Girl touched a tuft of my hair on my right. "See?" That tuft of hair was white instead of dark purple. "I suggest that until you truly learn how to control your quirk, never use it. Ever."
"I don't... I don't even know what happened or how it happened or..." I flustered. Honestly, it scared me. "W-will I become a demon and not able to turn back in a human?"
She touched her chin. "I don't know. You have to figure it out yourself." She patted my shoulder. "But fret not. Just believe in yourself and you'll be fine."
Believe in myself that I can control this weird shit quirk of mine that I have not discovered for 15 years?!
"I thought I knew everything about my quirk..." I muttered to myself.
"If you can walk now, you should go home. Don't let your parents worry. The attack is probably on the news now," said Recovery Girl as she dismissed me. I thanked her for her care and slowly walked out of the medical bay.
"This should give me some time to think about my quirk's true nature..." I muttered.
"Oi, demon girl."
I turned around. Bakugou stood behind me. His blood red eyes glared at me.
"Porcupine head," I blurted. He looked irked. "What are you doing here?"
He glared at me silently. "What are you doing?"
I blinked. "Going home?"
He scoffed. "You're deemed fit to go home now?"
"Err... yeah? Stop interrogating me? It's creepy."
"HUH?!"
We stared at each other silently for a few moments. "Anyway, I should go back now. My parents are worried sick I think."
He continued to glare. "For the record, I didn't need you saving me."
What. The. Fuck?!
"I don't want some annoying demon came saving me and ended up almost dead by herself," he added venomously. "I don't like owing people deeds."
Arrogant punk. "Is that a way to say thanks? By the way, I just fainted. Not dead."
"Well, you barely breathing scared the shit out of half-and-half bastard there." Bakugou clicked his tongue. "I'm leaving."
"So you came all the way here to insult me? Why can't you just say you're grateful to be alive because of me?"
He gritted his teeth, looking irritated. "The fuck?"
"Isn't that why you're here?"
"I just passed by, damn it!"
I stared at him with suspicion. "Okay. I won't tell anyone. Thanks for coming."
"Fuck off! I said I was just passing by!"
"Okay."
"DAMN IT DEMON GIRL!"
"I just said 'okay'."
Glaring at me once more, he stormed off in the other direction.
Tsundere much.

My phone rang when I exited the school campus. It was Uraraka.
"Eria-san! Thank god you're okay! I was shocked when they say you've fainted! Where are you now? Are you going home?" Uraraka's concerned voice boomed from the other side of the phone.
"Is she okay?! What did she say?!" Iida's loud voice was audible.
"I'm fine, no worries. Just a little tired. I'm going home now," I replied, smiling.
"We should come and pick you up! Iida-kun, let's go!"
"Yes, we should!"
"After what happened to Deku... I thought you... you..." Uraraka sobbed.
"It's okay! I'm fine walking home. You guys should stay home with your family right now."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I'm okay. I'll see you guys back at school then?"
"Okay! Just call us if you need us!"
I hung up the phone, feeling glad to have friends worry about me.
I started my way home slowly. As I waited to cross the road to the train station, I spotted a person with familiar bi-coloured hair. Todoroki didn't seem to notice me as he stood a few feet away. He was just staring at the red light, waiting for it to turn green.
I didn't call him because I wanted to be alone for a while. When the lights turned green, I crossed the road slowly, hoping that I could make it just in time. I released a sigh when I made it.
It will take me about 30 minutes to reach home. Luckily the train was not packed with people so I could sit anywhere I wanted. "30 minutes... I could take a nap," I yawned. Instantly I fell asleep.
Abruptly, someone nudged me and I woke up. "Ehhhhhh?" I looked around and realized it was my station. "Shit!" I quickly exited the train in a daze.
Only to realise I left my bag in the train.
The doors closed.
FUUUUUCK!
I think I'm going to faint for the second time today.
I could burst into tears right now. What should I do? I... I should go to the ticket office and ask them to retrieve my bag for me. It'll be fine. I think.
"Where is that ticket office? Shit, I can't remember!" I slowly entered a panicked state.
"Hey."
"Not now! I'm kinda' busy right now! I need to go to the ticket office right away!"
The owner of the voice sighed. "Will you calm down? How are you going to be a hero like that, Takasaki?"
I turned. "Todoroki?"
He stared coldly at me. "You should be more wary of your belongings," he said as he handed me a familiar bag. "No one's going to look after it for you."
"MY BAG!" I shouted happily. I was never so glad to see you again, my dear bag!
"Be quiet. We're at a station," he huffed.
"THANK YOU!!!"
He said nothing and turned around to leave.
I chased up to him. "What are you doing here?"
"......going home."
"You stay nearby?"
"......yes."
"Can't you answer a little bit longer than broken words?"
"No."
I glared at him. "Bye Todoroki."
He didn't reply as he walked towards Exit No. 3. Which, surprisingly, was my exit as well.
I walked behind him a few steps, hoping he'd realize I was just coincidentally going in the same way as him. I was not stalking hi-
"Are you following me?"
I came to a halt and met a pair of cold eyes. "No..." I replied sheepishly.
Get a grip, Eria! You were not following him! Tell him bravely!
His cold stare turned harsher. "Don't follow me."
"I was just using the same exit as you do! I'm not following you at all!" I retorted.
He said nothing and walked off. Angrily, I jogged past him and walked in front of him to show that I was sure as hell not following him. I left the station, not looking back at Todoroki. After some time, I turned around and he was gone.
That irritating punk.

I arrived home safely, only to be greeted by my anxious father.
"Eria!!!" My father sobbed as he hugged me when I entered the house. "I heard the news! Oh my god, are you okay dear?!"
"I'm fi-" I choked when he squeezed me too hard. "I'm still healing so please stop squueeeeezing me!" I screeched in pain.
My father immediately let me go. "I'm sorry dear. Hana! Our daughter is back! Safe and sound!"
A woman with short purple hair popped out from the living room. "Hey sweetie. Did you walk back all alone? How are you feeling?" My mother turned to my father. "I'd told you she'd be fine. She has my demon genes after all."
"Oh hey sis," said a bored voice. "You're alive." He was my brother, Hinata. He had black hair like my father and blue eyes like my mother.
My mother hit his head. "Be respectful. Your sister just came back from a villain attack."
Hinata rolled his eyes. "Whatever. There's extra pasta on the table. Eat it if you want."
"He actually cooked it as a comfort food for you," my father snickered as he whispered.
"Hell no!" Hinata retorted. He was some sort of a tsundere as well.
I turned to my mother, who gave me a warm smile. "Mom, can I ask you something?"
"Of course dear."
"You have almost the same quirk as mine, right? To be able to turn into a demon... did you ever... well... lose control of your quirk before?" I stuttered.
My mom was a semi-active hero named Dark Rose. She was well known for her ferocity in defeating villains. Her quirk was similar to mine. "No, not really. Why, dear?"
"Umm... nothing."
She raised an eyebrow. "If there's anything, don't hesitate to talk to me about it, okay?"
I nodded. I didn't want to worry her about my quirk.
Looks like I have to figure it out myself.

The next day was Saturday. Mom had asked me and Hinata to do some shopping at the nearby supermarket. She gave us a long list of things to buy.
I looked at the list. "Milk, bread, soba, pork, chicken thigh, potatoes...... That's a lot."
"We're running low on stuff since mom had been busy with her work," explained Hinata. He walked to the refrigerated section. "Here, milk." He placed two cartons of milk into the trolley. "Next.... yogurt. Get that on your right."
I took the yogurt on the shelf. The corner of my eye caught something familiar and I thought I was hallucinating.
"Todoroki?"
"Who?" asked Hinata.
"My classmate."
He mouthed an 'oh' and resumed looking at the list.
Todoroki was standing at the refrigerated meat section. He was staring intently at two pieces of red meat he weighed on both of his hands.
"Will you stop staring at him? He's not that handsome anyway," said Hinata. "Your little brother me is more handsome than him."
I rolled my eyes. "God why do I have such an idiotic brother."
"You should be grateful," he spat his tongue at me. "Let's go. We got a lot more to buy."
We followed the list and bought everything mom wanted us to buy. Soon, our trolley was full.
"Mom says we can buy candy," said Hinata. His eyes sparkled with joy.
"Only one," I said. He pouted his lips and glared at me.
We arrived at the candy section. My little brother jumped in joy. "I want this. No I want that! Wait, this looks tastier!"
I took a pack of white peach candy and put it in the trolley. Wondering if Todoroki was still there, I took a glance at the refrigerated meat section. He's probably not there anymo-
Todoroki was standing at his original spot, both hands still holding onto the meat.
I choked. "W-what the hell is he doing?"
"Ah your classmate. Hell, wasn't he there like 10 minutes ago?" Hinata asked. "Why is he still staring at the two pieces of meat?"
"I don't know. I'm not very close to him. He's a very cold person. He didn't like talking to me. Or anyone else," I replied. "...But he did help me to retrieve my bag. Say, how did he retrieve it anyway?" I tapped my chin.
Hinata rolled his eyes. "Will you stop your mumbling and go get some pork?"
"Why me?" I glared down at him.
"Because I need to choose my candy?"
I sighed and carried my heavy legs to where Todoroki was. Steeling myself, I called the boy. "Todoroki."
He seemed to be surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"Shopping. Just to be clear, I did not follow you," I replied as I took a piece of fatty pork.
He stared at me with widened eyes. Then he stared at his meat. Lastly, he stared at the piece of pork on my hand. Suddenly, I sensed some admiration from his usually cold eyes.
"You... you know how to choose pork?" he asked.
What?
So this guy here had been staring at the meat for 10 minutes straight because he didn't know how to choose?!
I tried hard to contain my laughter. What a dork!
"I don't know much. But my brother does. He's a talented cook," I said. "Hey Hinata, could you come here?"
My brother pushed the trolley to our location. "Which pork is the best?" He looked at the two pieces of meat in Todoroki's hands. "This one." He pointed the one on the right hand. "It's cheaper and has a balanced ratio of meat and fat. Good for cooking a lot of stuff."
Todoroki nodded as if he understood. "Thanks."
"I'll leave you two to talk." Hinata returned to the candy section.
"Thank you for helping me or......" said Todoroki.
"Or you'll probably be standing here for another hour or so," I mocked.
He stared at me with eyes less colder than before. "Probably."
I barely contained my laughter from his bluntness. "By the way, I hadn't been able to thank you properly for my bag." I took the white peach candy from the trolley and some money and passed it to him. "Take it as my gift. It tastes really good."
He blinked. "Umm... thanks. The money..."
"It's to pay for the candy."
"Thanks."
"Oh yeah. How did you retrieve my bag anyway?"
"I saw you left it behind when you leave the train," he replied in monotone. "I was sitting beside you."
Sitting beside me... "So you woke me up?"
He nodded.
"Wait... how did you know that was my station? Are you... are you stalking me?" I mocked.
Todoroki sighed. He seemed exasperated to answer my barrel of questions. "No, I am not stalking you. I just happened to saw you at the same station every day to school and back."
"Oh. That explains things." I nodded.
"Sis, we're late! I need to cook dinner soon!" said Hinata as he pushed the trolley away. "I'll see you at the cashier."
"I gotta go now," I said.
"I'm going to the cashier too. Let's go," said Todoroki.
We walked silently to the cashier until Todoroki spoke. "Are you all healed from the attack on USJ?"
"Yes," I replied. "I didn't know you were worried of me."
He didn't reply for awhile and spoke up moments later. "Yeah I was."
I stared at him with glittery eyes, touched by his words. "Todoroki! I didn't know you're a nice person!" I snickered.
He glared at me. "I'm not as cold as you think I am."
"Uh-huh. Says the boy who can create ice."
His cold stare grew colder. I shuddered.
"Sis! Say goodbye to your friend! We're leaving!" Hinata called.
"She's not my friend," Todoroki corrected.
I looked at him, shocked.
"She's just some annoying classmate who likes to butt into other people's business," Todoroki continued.
"I will punch that arrogant jaw out of your skull," I gritted my teeth.
He glared at me. "Bye Takasaki."
I spat my tongue at him. "Bye, emotionless arrogant punk."
