04 | The hidden demon

Todoroki and my reckless actions were reprimanded by All Might because if Todoroki hadn't conjure that ice slide, we'd be hospitalized. Ojiro was commended as the MVP of the battle for guarding the weapon successfully.

I was still partially disturbed by ice boy's cold and aloof personality. Even though he sat right in front of me all the time, he did not socialise much with anyone in class. He always leave for lunch alone, eat alone, walk alone......

"Is he an introvert or something?" I mumbled to myself.

"Who?" asked Midoriya as he ate his lunch.

"Todoroki."

Midoriya, Iida and Uraraka glanced over at the boy. They shrugged.

"He doesn't really talk much in class too," added Uraraka.

"An introvert does not make a good hero! I should tell him to-" Iida stood up but I pulled him back down to his seat.

"Quit it, Iida. Don't mettle with someone's else business," I said.

"But you're doing the same, aren't you?" he pointed out.

"Well......" I couldn't reply. Why was I so bothered by ice boy anyway?

***

After a round of voting, Yaoyorozu and Midoriya were chosen to be class representatives. Midoriya gave up his position to Iida, who was far more enthusiastic in doing a class rep's job.

Yaoyorozu Momo was a girl who sat beside Todoroki in class. She had a signature ponytail and was the tallest girl in class. I considered her one of the smartest in class after listening to her analysis from the last Hero Basic Training.

"Takasaki-san, right?" said Yaoyorozu with a soft voice.

I nodded. "Yeah?"

"After seeing you battle during the last training, I have to say, you were quite amazing," she said. "Your horns, I mean your look is awesome."

"Thanks." I was fairly surprised. "Right back at you. I couldn't have come up with such detailed analysis for each battle. I'm more of the less talk, more action kind."

She smiled. "I think battle analysis is probably the only thing I can do in battle. I don't have much firepower like you, though."

"No way. Those cannons I saw you creating that time was awesome! And all sorts of other useful stuff you can create. I think your quirk is pretty awesome. Unlike mine, just scary demon stuff with brutal strength."

"Takasaki-san, please never look down on yourself. I believe that you will become a wonderful hero in the future," said Yaoyorozu with a warm smile.

Thanks to her, I got my confidence boosted and made a new friend in class.

**

Bakugou Katsuki was one of the strongest students in class. However, he had the crappiest personality ever. He was like a ticking time bomb that could explode anytime, anywhere. I didn't talk to him ever since I bumped into him on the first day of class, and he wasn't the sociable kind either. Midoriya was somehow awfully scared of him though.

"I'd like to fight him someday," I muttered.

"Fight who?" asked Midoriya.

"Bakugou."

Midoriya choked. He looked appalled. "K-Kacchan?!"

"That sounds like an awesome fight," said a boy with pointy red hair. His name was Kirishima Ejirou. "No offence, but I think Bakugou might win."

"No way!" a blond butted in. It was Kaminari Denki, who often reminded me of Pikachu. "I bet Takasaki would win, hands down! She held her ground against Todoroki, who got in through recommendations. She would probably kick Bakugou's butt!"

"I think so too," said a petite girl with long greenish hair. "I'm Asui Tsuyu. Just call me Tsuyu-chan."

"Takasaki-san, I don't think you should pick a fight with Kacchan. He's super strong," said Midoriya sheepishly.

I didn't even understand how my tiny mumbling could evolve into a heated discussion in class.

"The fuck are you guys talking about?" A hoarse voice spoke and silenced everyone. Porcupine head entered the class after lunch, looking grumpy as ever. He glared daggers at me. "The fuck you think you can defeat me?" Bakugou Katsuki slammed his fist on my desk. "Are you trying to pick a fight, idiot?"

"Stop calling me an idiot, porcupine head," I retorted.

"WHAT?!" he shouted. The people around us tried to hold in their laughter.

"Kacchan, please stop-"

"Shut the fuck up, Deku." Bakugou glared at me. "Do you want to go a round now, idiot?"

I sighed. "My name is Takasaki Eria, remember that."

"I can call you whatever I want, demon girl," he hissed.

"Fine then, porcupine head."

The vein on his head popped, threatening to erupt. We glared at each other.

"Could you move?" said Todoroki coldly, who appeared out of nowhere. He glared at Bakugou, then at me.

Bakugou clicked his tongue. "We'll settle this soon, demon girl. You too, half-and-half bastard!"

Does this guy have a short-term memory on remembering other people's names?

Today's Hero Basic Training involved three instructors: Aizawa-sensei, All Might and Space Hero, Thirteen. We took a bus prepared by the school to reach an off-campus site. I was the last to board the bus. There were no empty seats except the one next to ice boy. I sighed.

"Please sit down before the bus moves, Takasaki-kun!" Iida commanded. "It is too dangerous to move on a moving bus."

"Right......" I walked to the seat reluctantly. Todoroki glanced at me and looked outside of the window, completely ignoring me.

What is wrong with him?

"Hey."

I was taken aback when Todoroki suddenly spoke. "Err... yeah?"

"Since you can resist ice, can you resist fire?" he asked abruptly.

Wow, so you finally talked? "Yeah I guess." I was reminded of his ability to unfreeze ice. "You can use fire as well, right?"

"Yeah." He sounded reluctant to reply me.

It felt like I was treading dangerous waters when I asked him questions. "Then why didn't you use it back then? You had a chance to use it at me."

"I...... don't use it during battles."

"Why?"

He stared at me, almost glaring. "You asked too many questions."

"Sorry but I was just trying to know you better. Since you're my classmate."

"......I didn't come here to make friends," he said coldly.

What the?

I wanted to talk some sense into this ice boy but I heard my name was called.

"......if you're talking about flashy and strong, it's gotta be Bakugou, Todoroki and Takasaki, though," said Kirishima. A few of my classmates were discussing something heatedly.

"Bakugou's always mad, so he doesn't seem like he'll be popular, though," blurted Tsuyu.

"What the hell?! Do you wanna fight?!" Bakugou retorted.

Oh. Teasing Bakugou, huh?

"You know, porcupines are very cute creatures. But you are definitely the opposite of cute. Considering your personality, you make porcupines look bad," I added. The others tried to hold back their laughter.

"Do you wanna die now, demon girl?!"

"And miss the chance of kicking your butt? Not a chance!" I said.

"You bitch...." Bakugou hissed through his gritted teeth.

"Be quiet. We're here," Aizawa sensei's voice spoke up, silencing everyone in the bus.

**

Space Hero, Thirteen was already waiting for us in the dome when we arrived. The dome was called USJ (Unforseen Simulation Joint), which comprised of multiple rescue scenarios such as landslide zone, shipwreck zone and fire zone. I was completely awestruck by its grandeur.

"This is going to be awesome," Uraraka chirped. I nodded.

Suddenly, my sixth sense tingled. It felt......dangerous.

In a blink of an eye, something else appeared in the dome. I looked around, following my sixth sense. There it was, right by the fountain below us. It begun with a tiny speck of purple that soon expanded into an ominous black hole thing. A person stepped out of the purple black hole, followed by another, and another.

My sense told me they were not here to make friends.

Although my classmates had not realized a thing yet, Aizawa-sensei was already aware of the situation. "Don't move! Stay where you are!" he ordered as he put on his goggles. "Those are villains."

We faltered. The villains' numbers were increasing as more of them appeared through the black hole. The odds were against us. A bunch of inexperienced students and two pro heroes versus a whole bunch of villains.

"Shit," I muttered.

"Thirteen, start the evacuation and try calling the school. If the trespasser sensors aren't working, it means there is someone interfering with the radio waves. Kaminari, try contacting the school with your quirk too."

"Sensei, are you going to fight alone? With that many, even if you can erase their quirks..." said Midoriya.

"You can't be a hero just with one trick," Aizawa-sensei replied. "I'm counting on you, Thirteen." Without the slightest hesitation, he lurched at the villains alone.

"Let's go, everyone. It's too dangerous for you students to be around," Thirteen ordered as he led the way.

I looked back at Aizawa-sensei. Is he going to be alright? If only I could help......

"Eria-san!" Uraraka's voice drew my attention. "Let's go!" I nodded and quickly followed the rest to the exit.

However, my sixth sense tingled again. Something was forming in front of us. It was that tiny purple speck that brought the villains here.

"WAIT!" I shouted. Everyone stopped right before the purple black hole appeared and blocked our way. It had a malicious aura and a pair of grotesque yellow eyes.

It's human?!

"Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. We have invited ourselves here into U.A. High School, in order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, to have his last breath," explained the villain.

Thoughts raced through my mind. His ability to simultaneously appear in places... is it some teleportation or warping quirk? If it is a warping quirk, this guy is very dangerous.

Out of nowhere, Kirishima and Bakugou had launched themselves at the purple mist guy.

WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING?!

A loud explosion boomed in the area. Smoke billowed and blurred my vision. I used my sixth sense to get a clearer picture of the situation.

The villain was still standing there, possibly avoided the attack.

Dangerous!

"Stay away from that guy!" I shouted, hoping the others would back up. Amongst the smoke, I tried to grab the people nearest to me. However, it was too late. Thick purple mist enveloped us in a second. I was completely blinded.

Shit! We're getting warped off to who knows where!

By the time the mist cleared, I was falling from the sky.

"SHIIIIIIT!" I screamed as I braced for impact. I closed my eyes and covered my head. This is going to hurt so damn muc-

Wait... it didn't hurt? Out of all my shitty luck, I landed onto something soft-

"Get. Off." A familiar voice hissed angrily.

I looked down at my landing mat. It had red and white hair.

I hurriedly got off before ice boy froze me out of anger. "I'm so sorry, Todoroki. You... alright?"

Todoroki rubbed his head. He glared at me with utter annoyance. "Cut some weight, will you?"

DID YOU JUST FUCKING CALL ME FAT?!

I wanted to crush his windpipe but now was not the time for this. Without even looking around, I knew many villains had us surrounded. We've landed right into a death trap, thanks to purple mist villain.

Todoroki and I stood back to back. My eyes stayed at the villains in front of me while I counted the villains with my sixth sense. Total: 20.

"Aren't you turning into a demon?" said Todoroki.

"It takes me five minutes to activate it," I said.

"What?"

"I'm just jokin-"

"QUIT YOUR SQUABBLING AND DIE!" shouted a muscular villain as he launched himself at me.

I sighed. Do villains still say such ridiculous lines now?

The villain flung his arm and aimed a strong punch at me. Puffs of dust stirred up from where I stood.

I smirked. That was it?

I stopped his punch easily with my palm in my demon form. He looked completely shocked. I grabbed his fist and threw him to where Todoroki was. The villain froze immediately the moment he hit the ground.

"Who's next?" I said, challenging the villains head on. Our only option here is to fight, so why not make something interesting out of it?

Ropes came out from nowhere and bound me to my feet. I broke free, grabbed onto the remaining ropes and pulled a villain to me. With one kick I sent him flying to a ruined building. Another villain bared his claws at me but I dodged them. In a blink of an eye, I appeared beside him and punched him hard in the gut, where he was thrown off to Todoroki's ice. Another ice statue to decorate the place, I guess.

"Couldn't you just freeze all of them?" I said to Todoroki. A villain ran towards me while I looked at Todoroki but I dodged and punched him in the jaw. He flew into the sky and landed onto one of his friends.

"I can't while you're around," he replied, freezing a villain that came too close to him.

"It's okay, go ahead. Freeze them to bits."

He looked at me skeptically and sighed. "You better know what you're doing."

"And yeah, don't freeze Hagakure. She's behind you."

He stared at me, surprised.

"What?" I asked.

He didn't reply. Ice spread from his right foot, instantaneously freezing multiple villains that surrounded us.

I jumped when the ice reached me, narrowly avoiding the ice. A few of the villains avoided the ice too but at that split second, I already appeared beside one of them. I grabbed a villain by his head and smashed him to the ground. Ice immediately covered him while I changed my target to the nearest villain. Before he reacted, I kicked him in his shin and he fell to the ground. Ice also froze him solid.

I turned to Todoroki, who had froze the rest of the villains into ice statues with ease. "Hey, don't you think these people are just... too easy?" I asked. "I thought they should be strong, considering that they are dumb enough to attack the school in broad daylight."

"These are probably just thugs. From what I saw, there's probably only four to five dangerous people," he replied.

"So it means the others would probably be fine, right?"

"Probably."

I relaxed a little. "But if these guys are just thugs, how the hell are they going to kill All Might? He could just blow them all off with a sneeze."

"I'd like to find out too." Todoroki approached one of the ice statues. "Hey, at this rate your cells will die slowly."

The ice statue looked appalled to hear that.

"I want to be a hero too. So I want to avoid something so cruel if possible." Todoroki's right hand inched onto the ice statue's face. Icy tendrils kissed his face. "On what basis you can kill All Might? What's your plan?"

Looking from afar, Todoroki looked like a demon dressed in human's skin. "Uwaa... demon." I blurted.

"Says the demon herself," he retorted.

I spat my tongue at him.

***

After getting the information we wanted, both of us headed to the center of the commotion where All Might has just arrived. In a flash, he rescued a gravely injured Aizawa-sensei, Midoriya, Mineta and Asui. There were only two villains facing All Might- one had light blue hair and the other had a very bulky body.

"Is that guy with a beak the weapon to kill All Might?" I asked Todoroki as we watched from the back of a huge rock.

"Probably," he answered as he stood up.

I grabbed his arm. "What the hell are you doing? You can't go out there right now!"

He shook my hand off. "I'm not going to sit here and watch."

This idiot! "We might get in All Might's way-"

The ground rumbled when All Might grabbed the guy with a beak and plunged him to the ground. Dust clouds burst from the ground like a volcano explosion. I held high expectations that the villain would be defeated instantly. However, as the dust clouds cleared, All Might was the one in a pinch. Although All Might had captured the villain, he was stuck in the middle of the purple mist. The villain's arms had popped out of the purple mist and grabbed onto All Might. Blood was leaking from All Might's wounds.

"It's that fucking mist guy again." I gritted my teeth.

Todoroki clicked his tongue. "I'm going out there no matter what. Don't stand in my way."

I glared at him. "This stubborn brat." I quickly followed him to All Might's aid. By the time we reached there, Midoriya, Bakugou and Kirishima had arrived. Bakugou had already captured mist guy. To my surprise, that villain had a solid body part on his torso.

Todoroki quickly froze the villain with a beak. The ice weakened him and All Might managed to escape, though not unscathed.

Six against three. Odds were against the villains, but I had a bad feeling in my gut about that villain with a beak.

The villain with sky blue hair and weird looking hands all over his body seemed to be the ringleader. He whispered, "Nomu," and the villain with a beak started to withdraw his body from the mist. Half of his torso were broken due to the ice but he was still able to move freely. Instantly, a new arm and leg grew back on his body.

"His quirk isn't shock absorption?!" All Might gasped. He was weakened from the previous attack.

"I never said his quirk was only shock absorption. This is his super regeneration. Nomu has been modified to take you at 100%." said the ringleader.

Two quirks? Is that even possible?

Nomu stood healthy as ever, as if he was never injured at all. His big beady eyes were blank as they stared at us.

"First, we need our gate back," said the ringleader.

Gate?

I glanced at a surprised Bakugou, who had pinned mist guy to the ground.

"Go, Nomu."

Shit!

Nomu had disappeared before my eyes. He was moving at such a fast speed that I could not see him except using my Sixth Sense. Nomu was approaching Bakugou, preparing to ram the boy with all his strength. Bakugou has not moved an inch at all.

I had to do something. Or Bakugou dies!

Death.

A hero never lets anyone dies before their eyes.

An unfamiliar energy surged through my veins. Something awakened in myself-something extremely dangerous. I doubted this newfound strength but I had no choice to accept it. I have to save Bakugou.

I have to save him.

I have to...

***

Todoroki

It all happened in a split second. The huge villain named Nomu charged at Bakugou in incredible speed. None of them could react fast to stop him or rescue Bakugou.

"Kacchan!" Midoriya shouted with despair as a loud explosion exploded at where Bakugou was. Too much smoke and dust blinded Todoroki. He could not confirm if Bakugou was alive or dead.

Todoroki put his quirk in standby, just in case Nomu decided to charge at everyone else. When the smoke cleared, he could not believe what he saw.

Someone was standing between Nomu and Bakugou. The mysterious person was holding Nomu's strong punch only with his arm. He was unwavering from Nomu's ridiculous strength.

"Who is it?" Kirishima gasped.

Todoroki looked closely. It was not a 'he'.

"Takasaki?" he silently gasped.

Her dark purple hair was dyed pure white like snow. It became wild and untamed like a lion's mane. Her entire presence exuded a demonic aura.

Todoroki didn't know she possessed such raw strength before. It scared him a little.

"Are you fucking... kidding me?" Bakugou muttered. Before he could move, Takasaki had caught him by his collar and threw him to Midoriya and Kirishima. "What the fuck! Demon girl!"

Nomu threw a punch with his free hand. Takasaki dodged and kicked his legs. There was a loud crack when Nomu fell to the ground. It seemed she broke his legs. However, his quick regeneration healed his legs. He threw faster punches this time, but he was only punching air when the girl appeared behind him. Her sharp claws slashed at Nomu's back, gorging large pieces of flesh. He turned around to catch her but she disappeared once more.

Takasaki reappeared in the air with a pair of black wings on her back. She lunged at Nomu at high speed. Nomu tried to defend himself. A huge shockwave blown away everyone nearby. Todoroki quickly covered himself and his friends with his ice.

As the dust cleared, Nomu was still clearly alive, although barely standing. His quirk had absorbed most of the impact.

Takasaki was standing not far from Nomu, uninjured. Nomu threw another punch. She prepared to dodge.

The punch disappeared into black mist and appeared behind the girl. She was thrown straight towards Nomu, who managed to grab her by her wings, breaking them like splinters. She shrieked in pain.

"That idiot," Todoroki muttered as his ice immediately froze half of Nomu's torso. Takasaki's wings disappeared and she fell to the ground. Nomu aimed another punch at her but All Might suddenly rammed him away from her.

"Get Young Takasaki out of here!" All Might shouted as he fought Nomu, dodging the punches aimed at him.

However, it was as if the girl had lost all rationality. She prepared to lunge at Nomu once more.

I might get killed if I go to her, thought Todoroki.

Ice froze Takasaki's feet. She struggled to break free. Meanwhile, Todoroki had reached her and shook her shoulders. "Enough, Takasaki!"

Takasaki glared at him. Her azure eyes were no human. They were pure demonic. Todoroki almost shuddered looking at them.

"Takasaki!" Todoroki shouted once more. "Snap out of it! Bakugou's safe now!"

As if those words were the trigger, Takasaki's eyes softened. Her demonic appearance disappeared so as her white-coloured hair. Her body went limp as she muttered, "Thank God...", and she fainted in Todoroki's arms. He swooped her up into his arms and carried her away from All Might and Nomu's fight.

"Is she alright?" asked a concerned Midoriya.

"She just passed out," replied Todoroki. He glanced at Bakugou, whose facial expression was incomprehensible.

"What the fuck..." muttered Bakugou. "What the fuck is wrong with this girl?"

Hell, I'd like to find out too, thought Todoroki as he looked down at Takasaki.
