January quickly faded into February.ย

Y/N pushed through the past few weeks. She spoke in class only when called on and she spent most of it longing for someone to talk to.

Sure she had, Hermione, and Daphne, and even grown closer with Fleur, but after the constant insisting that she and Harry would be able to make up and how happy Hermione seemed to be with whatever she and Viktor were, Y/N couldn't bring herself to tell them.

She had been avoiding Adrian and Harry completely.

Days like those, were when she missed Rue the most. She reread the letter she had found in her leather jacket a lot. The last bit of sisterly advice she ever got from her.

She longed to be able to write a letter to her and spill everything about what had happened at the Yule Ball and then look at her cousin and ask her what she should do now.

She missed her dearly.

Y/N sighed.ย

She picked up her locket on her nightstand and opened it.

She missed a lot of things.

(Third Year)

"I honestly can't believe how long their fight's lasted," Harry said as he and Y/N were walking through the courtyard.

It was a bright winter day and the light snow on the ground gleamed like a thin glaze.

"They're getting along one second and arguing the next," Y/N said.

"Seems like we're on our own," Harry said looking around noticing that neither Hermione nor Ron showed up to where the four had agreed to meet.ย

Ron didn't want to be near Hermione after what Crookshanks did to his rat, and Hermione didn't want to hear the constant accusations about her cat murdering Scabbers.

"So, how you feeling about the whole Black situation now?" Y/N asked

"Same as always," Harry sighed. "Scared, Angry," Y/N reached out and laced a gloved hand in his, "I really just wanted a normal year."

"Well since that seems to never happen," Y/N said, "Let's do something somewhat normal?"

"What do you have in mind?" Harry asked intrigued.

Y/N thought intently before her face lit up.

"We can build a snowman," Y/N said proudly.

"There's barely enough snow," Harry laughed.

"Okay and?" Y/N sassed

"I'm pretty sure you need snow for a snowman," Harry pointed out

"It can be a very small snowman," Y/N huffed.

So the two started. They found something to do that made their hectic wizarding lives slow down. Time always seemed to be distant when they were together.

They gathered up the small bits of snow to make a base that was a bit smaller than a basketball.

You could see through the snow to the grass but the two didn't care.

Once they managed to shape two other size snowballs they packed them on top of each other.

"This poor snowman," Harry sighed looking at their deformed attempt at a simple winter tradition.

"Why so negative Harold?" Y/N asked. "Here."

She took Harry's Gryffindor hat right off his head and placed it on their snowman happily.

"Hey!" Harry protested as Y/N ignored him and took off her own Slytherin scarf for their snowman.

"There," Y/N said satisfied with their result.

Harry looked from her to the snowman and then burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" Y/N asked crossing her arms.

"This snowman," Harry choked out.

"Excuse me? Snowwoman. She has a name you know?" Y/N said annoyed.

"Oh yeah?" Harry asked. "What's that?"

"Agatha," Y/N said quickly pretending she hadn't just come up with it.

"Agatha," Harry said. "That is a terrible name," he insisted shaking his head. "Agatha has evil witch written all over it."

"Like you could do better," Y/N said.

"I could," Harry sassed. He turned back towards their snowman and surveyed her intensely. "Elizabeth. That's her name."

"That's a terrible name!"

"Oh come on! Elizabeth is literally the main character from that book you read to me and the book you're always reading," Harry defended.ย

"And so is the name Georgiana, but you don't see me suggesting it!" Y/N said.ย

"Fine," Harry said. He thought before saying, "Ophelia that's her name. And Elizabeth is the middle because I say so."

"Fine," Y/N said turning back to their floppy snowman. "Ophelia Elizabeth Sinclair."

"No way! Ophelia Elizabeth Potter sounds better!"ย

"You are kidding me right now," Y/N said. "She is my kid."

"Your kid?" Harry said. "I named her!"

"You thought she was ugly a minute ago!"

"Doesn't mean I still don't have rights to her!" Harry said crossing his arms.

"Fine she's our kid," Y/N said rolling her eyes. "Hopefully she doesn't have your level of sass."

"Oh don't lie, my sass is elite," Harry said. "You should wish she can measure up."

Y/N playfully rolled her eyes failing to hide back the smile she had.

"Hey, can I take your picture?" Colin Creecy asked, his prized camera clutched in his hands.

"Not now Colin," Harry said softly.ย

"Shut up Harold," Y/N said pushing him out of the way, "Make sure you get my good side," she directed, pretending to flip her hair over her shoulder despite it being tucked in her own hat.

"Oh my god," Harry said rolling his eyes as Colin took Y/N's picture and she posed happily in the snow, light flurries beginning to fall.

"Don't be jealous Harold," Y/N said blowing a kiss at the camera just to annoy him.

"Oh move it," Harry said pushing her out of the way to get Colin to take his picture.

The two began modeling in front of Colin ad his camera flashed in the chill air. The two teenagers didn't feel bad for exploiting the twelve-year-old's talents just to have some fun.

After Y/N and Harry took a "family" picture with their snowman making goofy faces at each other they let the sweet boy go.

He had been more than happy to take pictures of Harry Potter and Y/N Sinclair even if it was just them obliviously flirting the entire time.

"Hey, Colin wait up!" Harry called as Y/N was retrieving the twos hats and scarves from their snowman.ย

"Yes, Harry? Is there something you need?" Colin asked not failing to lose his fanboyish behavior.

"I was wondering if I could have those pictures?" Harry asked.ย

"Of course Harry," Colin said handing them over with a smile on his face.ย

Harry smiled down at them. That's when it hit him. The perfect idea for the perfect Christmas gift.ย

He looked at two photos in particular. One of them where the two of them making goofy faces at each other and the other was them sticking their tongues out with an arm wrapped around their faceless snowman 'Ophelia Elizabeth'.ย

"You good Harold?" Y/N asked walking up to him, their winter accessories in her hands. ย

"Yeah I'm good," Harry smiled putting the pictures in his coat pocket. "Now my hat has so much snow on it, thanks a lot."

"Your welcome," Y/N said putting the hat on top of his head soaking his hair, and putting her own snowy-covered scarf back on.ย

Harry playfully rolled her eyes at the girl's bright smile and they made their way back into school to warm up.ย

(End of Flashback)

Y/N sighed at the picture in her locket. It felt so bittersweet. That perfect moment was frozen in time.ย

If only she could go back.ย

Those happy moments just made her more upset about losing her best friend.ย

She wouldn't admit it but she kept looking at the locket because of the unique innocence it reminded her of. It reminded her of a time where things sure weren't perfect, but at least they were happy.ย

She shut the locket closed with a snap.ย

Merlin, why was he always on her mind, if she didn't feel for him anymore?

What she didn't know was that Harry was looking at a picture of them too. The one with Ophelia. Missing how perfect things were.ย

They both remembered it all too well.

"Harry you told me you figured that egg out weeks ago!" Hermione scolded Harry while the two were talking at the bridge. "The task is two days from now!"

"Really? I had no idea," Harry said sarcastically. The truth was he had more than a few things on his mind.

One of them named Y/N.

"I suppose Viktor's already figured it out," Harry said spitefully.

"We don't really talk about the tournament," Hermione said. "We actually don't talk at all. Viktor's more of a physical being."

Once she realized what she had said she started laughing as Harry giggled along with her.

"I just mean he's not particularly loquacious," Hermione said.

"I see," Harry said, still continuing to smile at his friend's poor choice of words.

"Mostly he watches me study," she said, "It's a bit annoying actually."

Suddenly, Hermione's face started to fall slightly making a pit form in Harry's stomach. He knew Hermione well enough to know whatever was about to come out of her mouth was not exactly going to make him the happiest.

"You are trying to figure this egg out aren't you?" Hermione asked.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Harry asked.

"I just mean that these tasks are designed to test you," Hermione said. "In the most brutal way, they're almost cruel..."

Harry turned his head away from her avoiding eye contact but she just moved to the opposite side of him forcing him to look her in the eye.

"And you don't exactly have your usual help," Hermione said cautiously.

"Now what are you talking about?" Harry said.

"It's just...you went into the first task with Y/N. She was the one who helped you....but now you two aren't speaking and I'm just worried..."

"I can survive a task without Y/N," Harry said knowing that it wasn't true.ย

Hermione raised her eyebrows slightly in surprise. "Look," she started. "I'm not going to pretend I know what's going on with you two, but I do know you need to figure out this egg."

Harry just let out a sigh.

"Harry, I'm scared for you, and she may not show it but Y/N's scared for you too," Hermione said.

"Yeah?" Harry said. "Was it the avoiding me at all costs that really tipped you off or the scowls every time I'm in a five-foot radius of her?"

"Look, I know you're upset and I know she's upset but Harry..." she took a deep breath before continuing. "Things just don't work when you two are like this."

Harry knew everything Hermione was saying was true but how could he even fix things. He tried, remember? She walked away and told him to own his feelings.ย

Had he really meant everything he said that night?ย

Of course not, but all he knew was that without her he felt like something was missing wherever he went. Like only half of him was existing.

So how come he still couldn't just talk to her?

Guilt? Nervous? Probably a combination.

"You got by the dragons because Y/N was there and because of your nerve," Hermione said. "Now I don't even know if you have either."

"Hey Potter!" a voice called.

Harry looked over to see Cedric which only increased his annoyed mood.

Hermione gave him stern look but he ignored it and walked away from her.

"Potter," Cedric called after Harry who chose to just keep walking away instead of going up to him.

"Cedric," Harry said shortly not looking back.

Cedric managed to catch up and Harry reluctantly turned around to be met with Cedric's concerned gaze.

"H-How are you?" Cedric said nervously.

"Spectacular," Harry said dully.

Cedric let out a soft breath, "Look I realized I never really thanked you properly for the tip about those dragons."

"Forget about it," Harry said trying to dismiss the conversation. "I'm sure you would have done the same for me."

"Exactly," Cedric said stopping him from leaving, as a small smirk appeared on his lips. "You know the prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor?"

Harry raised an eyebrow at him and nodded.

Cedric looked around oddly before leaning down and whispered into Harry's ear, "It's not a bad place for a bath."

Harry looked at him trying to decipher where he was going with this.

"Just...take your egg and mull things over in the hot water," Cedric advised.

Cedric sent him a smile before turning around and walking off.

Harry just looked after him extremely confused.

'Mull things over in the hot water.' ย What was he playing at?

โ”€โ”€โ”€ โˆ™ ~โ˜พ~ โˆ™ โ”€โ”€โ”€

"So the second task is in two days," Tracey said cautiously as she, Y/N, and Daphne were reading in the common room.

Y/N was flipping through her copy of The Princess Bride she got for Christmas from Hermione and was sitting on the couch knees tucked in to make room for Daphne.

"Yes, it is," Y/N said not looking up from her book as she scanned through her pages tiredly. The truth was she had finished The Princess Bride a week after Hermione got it for her and she so badly wanted to reread Pride and Prejudice but just couldn't bring herself to do it.

"Do you think all the champions figured out their eggs yet?" Tracey continued.

"I don't know Trace, I haven't exactly talked to any of them," Y/N said.

"But you are concerned about if the champions have figured out their egg yet?" Tracey said.

"Are you implying something?" Y/N said still not breaking the lock between her eyes and the pages that she was reading with such little imagination.

"Okay, okay," Tracey started. "Let me be more obvious. Are you concerned about Harry in this next task?"

Y/N looked up at her friend and made uninterested eye contact before looking back down. "He'll figure it out."

"So you're going to let you and Potter's little fight stop you from helping your best friend," Tracey said.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Y/N said quickly.

"Oh please," Daphne scoffed. "We know you love us but Harry James Potter's your best friend here. Always has, always will be no matter how you put it."

"Yeah," Y/N said softly so both of them couldn't hear her. Always going to be his best friend.

"Look it's justโ€”it's just we want to make sure that you guys.....make up," Tracey said.

"Why exactly?" Y/N asked annoyed.

"Think it about it," Daphne started. "These tasks aren't designed for a fourteen-year-old boy and Potter barely left the arena alive last time. It's just if anything were to happen to himโ€”"

"Are you giving me a speech about how Harry's going to die?" Y/N asked looking at her two friends surprisingly. She scoffed, "From what I've seen and heard, Harry's immortal he'll be fine."

But would he? Y/N started to think back to what had happened with Rue. Losing someone so soon had become one of her worst fears that had come true. What if it happened again?

She shook away the thought. It's Harry he'll be fine. He can function on his own.

Not like she cared or anything.

Not knowing what was going on about the second task was making her nervous but she disguised her emotions well.

"Can we just stop talking about Harry?" Y/N asked.

"Yes, let's talk about me," Theo said coming from the boy's dormitories with Blaise.

Theo took a seat next to Daphne smiling at her while she immedietly broke eye contact to look at her own book.ย

"If you don't mind we were having a conversation," Tracey said narrowing her eyes at Blaise as he flopped down on the opposite couch next to her.

"No worries, we don't need to contribute to the conversation," Theo said happily.

"Yeah, we all know my role here is to look hot anyways," Blaise said before Tracey smacked him in the face with a pillow making Y/N and Daphne burst out laughing.

The group started up conversation for a while until Y/N heard her name being called from the other side of the common room.

"Hey Y/N!" A Slytherin Prefect Y/N had met a couple of times called.

"Hey Nat," Y/N said getting up from the couch and walking over to where she was seated at one of the study tables. "What's up?"

Nat, short for Natalia, was a Slytherin Prefect that Y/N had talked to a couple of times. She had her coily hair up in a bun and her brown skin glowed under the light of the table lamp on the desk.

The table was piled with countless amount of parchment rolls and study books that slightly scared Y/N for the future.ย

Is this really what her seventh year would bring? She sure was glad it was three years away.

"Is everything okay," Y/N said letting out a slight chuckle as she picked up a piece of parchment that was on the floor and handed it to her.

"Yeah everything's fine," Nat said quickly, "I was wondering if you could check on the Prefects bathroom for me?"

"The Prefects Bathroom?" Y/N asked confused.

"I was supposed to check and make sure it was closed tonight," She explained, "But I've been busy as you can see," she said nodding towards her frazzled homework.

"Yeah okay," Y/N smiled. "You just need me to check on it?"

"Just make sure no one's up there. It's closed tonight, I was supposed to just make sure no one was up there," she said. "Password's 'Pine Fresh' just head to Fifth Floor it's behind that statue of Boris the Bewildered."

"Okay," Y/N agreed standing up.

"Thank's your a lifesaver," Nat said gratefully before pouring over her work again.

Y/N gave a nod towards her friends before exiting the common room and heading up to the fifth floor.

Despite having a valid reason for being in the halls past curfew, Y/N still moved through the halls with caution. Having Filch shake her down about where she was going was the last thing she needed.

Once she reached the fifth floor she whispered the password and the door creaked open.

Y/N had never seen a bathroom more magnificent.

She immediately would want to become a Prefect if it meant being able to have benefits like this.

The only thing that was lighting the bathroom was a candlelit chandelier and everything was made of marble. Including the grand bathtub that heavily resembled a small swimming pool. There was even a diving board and rows of golden taps that spilled out and had different colored jewel sets on the handles.

The white linen curtains moved slightly from the breeze and there was a picture of a mermaid in a golden frame that had long blonde hair. She appeared to be fast asleep and her hair fluttered every time she let out a light snore.ย

Y/N couldn't help but look around at the flawless glow of the bathroom. She ran her fingers along the jewels of the running taps that were holding some kind of bubble bath liquid because the pool was filled to the brim with pink and blue bubbles. Another tap was pouring ice-white foam into the pool.

She was in no rush to head back to the common room so she took her time checking about the bathroom making sure no one was in.

She turned around to check by where the rack of fluffy towels was but that's when she noticed a pile of clothes by them.

Y/N looked around in confusion confused why she didn't see anyone. She picked up the clothes preparing to bring them to the lost and found but she then noticed circular glasses under the pile.

Ones that only belonged, to Harry Potter.

She looked at the glasses in confusion until suddenly Y/N heard the sound of splashing water come from the tub as something or someone emerged from the water.

Y/N squinted at the tub trying to identify what had just come out of the bath until she saw a glimpse of a boy with black wet hair matted to his face.

Y/N immediately covered her eyes failing to not let out a little shriek when whoever it was had fully came up.

"I'm so sorry, I was just supposed to check and make sure no one was here, Iโ€”this bathroom's supposed to be closedโ€”"

"Y/N?" Harry's voice coughed out, trying to catch his breath.

"Harry?" Y/N asked lowering her hand to see Harry not fully clothed sitting in the pool that she had assumed empty until now. She slapped her hand back over her eyes, "Oh my god! What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same question?" He said looking at the Slytherin girl whose face he could barely see through his wet hair.

"Y/N?" Came a high-pitched female voice, "Not that annoying girl you were moping about."

"Excuse meโ€”" Y/N started feeling her anger rise. Had he seriously had a girl in the Prefect's bathroom right now? She removed her hand from her eyes ready to chew him out before seeing the ghost of Moaning Myrtle cozied up to the left of the green-eyed boy.

Y/N tried to hide her embarrassment that she got so upset at a ghost. She looked away from Harry and crossed her arms.

"You're not supposed to be in here," she said sharply.

"Are you seriously not going to look at me?" Harry sighed.

"You don't have any clothes on," Y/N said shortly refusing to look at him pushing out the nervous feelings she was getting around him.

"There's plenty of bubbles," Harry said.

Y/N rolled her eyes to look at him refusing to let her feelings control her thoughts about Harry's lack of clothes in front of her. He was holding the golden egg in front of him and despite Y/N's curiosity about what he was doing with it, she ignored it.

"You're really not supposed to be in here," Y/N said.

"Since when did you become a Prefect?" Harry asked matching her sharpness.

"It's none of your business," Y/N said hotly.

"Whatever," Harry said turning his attention back to Myrtle, "Myrtle, there are merpeople in the lake?"

"Very good," Myrtle said in a flirty voice inching closer to him. "It took Cedric, ages to riddle it out."

Y/N tapped her foot impatiently as she tried to keep telling herself she wasn't jealous of a fucking ghost.

"Almost all the bubbles we're gone," Myrtle said looking down into the water that was starting to clear up.

"Okay, Harry you seriously can't be in here," Y/N said quickly.

Despite their constant arguments, Harry didn't need to be told twice. He brought the remaining bubbles around him trying to hide from the ghost.

"Both of you shut your eyes will you?" Harry asked.

Y/N turned around immediately and heard the splashing of water signifying that Harry had gotten out.

"Where have my clothes gone?" Harry asked.

Y/N sighed turning around to look for his clothes before realizing all Harry had was one of the towels wrapped around his waist. She frantically turned back around and realized that she was clutching his clothes.

"Here," she said holding out the pile behind her.

"Thanks," Harry said awkwardly, taking the clothes from her, only being an arm span away from her in the towel.

Y/N just kept repeating affirmations in her head. You're not feeling anything. This isn't making you nervous. You're not wondering how far away he is and how he looks right now in that towel.

"Okay you can look now," Harry said after he had finished putting on his pajamas.

"Yeah okay," Y/N said flatly turning around but still not looking at him. "Come on."

"Wait one second," Harry said. He turned back towards Myrtle.

Y/N rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"So that's it," Harry said. "The second task's to go and find the merpeople in the lake and...and..."

Y/N suddenly put the pieces together. Harry was in here trying to find out the solution to the egg, and he did. Merpeople were the second task.

She hated the fact that Harry fighting merpeople terrified her but she didn't show it. She kept her annoyed face acting as if she cared about getting back to the common room and as if Harry breaking the rules actually bothered her.

Harry's excitement about figuring out the task started to drain. He realized he was never really a good swimmer and never really had much practice. Dudley had gotten lessons in his youth but his Aunt and Uncle hadn't bothered with him, no doubt hoping that Harry would drown.

Harry tried to hide his fear thinking back to the black lake which was very very deep and way larger than the bath that was in the Prefects room, and of course the thought of merpeople living at the bottom...

Y/N could see the distress in Harry's face no matter how hard he tried to hide it. She wanted so desperately to help him, reach out to him and insist they would find a way.

Forever & Always they had once promised each other.

Merlin, how did Y/N Sinclair and Harry Potter have such a massive break in their friendship? Ask anyone with a brain and you would have thought those two would be together for life, but their rainbows and unicorns love story seemed to be turning into a tragedy.

"Myrtle," Harry spoke slowly, "how am I supposed to breathe?"

Myrtle, began to tear up as she looked at him insulted.

"Tactless!" she shouted.

"What are you on about?" Y/N asked heavily wanting to escape the current situation she was in.

"Talking about breathing in front of me!" Her voice echoing throughout the bathroom. "When I can't...when I haven't, not for ages..."

"Sorry," Harry said. "Didn't mean to touch a nerve."

"He forgot," Y/N said uninterested. "We seriously need to leave."

"Oh yes, very easy to forget Myrtle's dead," Myrtle started rambling. "Nobody missed me even when I was alive. Took them hours and hours to find my bodyโ€”I know, I was sitting there waiting for them. Olive Hornby came into the bathroomโ€”'Are you in here again, sulking, Myrtle?' she said, 'because Professor Dippet asked me to look for youโ€”'And then she saw my body...ooooh, she didn't forget it until her dying day, I made sure of that... followed her around and reminded her, I did. I remember at her brother's weddingโ€”"

Y/N gave Harry an annoyed look and Harry made a 'What?' ย faceย knowing that he couldn't control Myrtle and whatever she was babbling on about.ย

"โ€”and then, of course, she went to the Ministry of Magic to stop me stalking her, so I had to come back here and live in my toilet."

"What a fabulous story Myrtle," Y/N said sarcastically even though she hadn't been paying attention. "Well, it's time for us to leaveโ€”"

"Will you come and visit me in my bathroom again sometime, Harry?" Myrtle asked flirtatiously.

Y/N looked at the ghost spitefully but bit her tongue from saying anything rude.

"Erโ€”I'll try," Harry said, knowing the only way that was ever going to happen was if another Basalik started terrorizing the school again. "See you, Myrtle...thanks for your help."

"Yeah, yeah," Y/N said, "Whatever."

The two left the Prefect's bathroom and Y/N immediately started walking away from him down to the Slytherin common room before Harry could even get a word out.

He sighed and headed up to the Gryffindor tower, kicking himself for breaking the best thing he had.

โ”€โ”€โ”€ โˆ™ ~โ˜พ~ โˆ™ โ”€โ”€โ”€

"That's absolutely foolish!" Fleur exclaimed as Y/N and her were seated in the library.ย

It had been eating Y/N up inside not telling anyone about the Yule Ball and she finally let Fleur know everything that happened that night.ย

It felt good to vent to someone about the way she felt about it.ย

"That little boy doesn't know what he's talking about," Fleur said, her French accent coming out even thicker when she was angry. "Why didn't you tell anyone about it?"

"I don't know," Y/N sighed. "I know Hermione's has a thing with Viktor she's happy with, Daphne's in love with Theo whether she denies it or not, and to be totally honest...I was embarrassed."

"You have nothing to be embarrassed about!" Fleur insisted. "He should be embarrassed for passing up someone as gorgeous and kind as you. He should be so lucky you have a crush on him!"

Y/N gave a soft smile towards her.

"You know the worse part about all this is?" Y/N said. Fleur looked at her intrigued, Y/N then admitted something that had stayed on her mind since the Prefects Bathroom. "I'm still terrified for tomorrow. Terrified he's gonna get hurt or worseโ€”and what if it's my fault because I didn't help. I mean it's not his fault he doesn't like me like thatโ€”"

"If you two were truly best friends he wouldn't have hurt you like that," Fleur advised. "I honestly think he's just in denial."

"Yeah maybe," Y/N sighed.

"This isn't your fault, and what happens tomorrow isn't your fault either," Fleur insisted. "He's just an idiotic boy who couldn't see the beautiful girl before him."

Y/N smiled. Fleur's words reminded her a lot of Rue. Maybe that's why she had been leaning on her a lot since the Yule Ball. The older sister advice Y/N needed she got from her.

"Speaking of that idiotic boy," Fleur said looking over Y/N's shoulder and her eyes narrowing.

Y/N turned around to see Harry, Ron, and Hermione walking into the library.

Hermione smiled at her and Ron gave an odd wave once he realized who Y/N was with.

Fleur didn't take her eyes off of Harry which made the boy slightly gulp.

"You do know committing murder will get you locked up?" Y/N laughed.

"Only if you get caught," Fleur said satisfied.

"Harry pay attention," Hermione scolded, snapping Harry's gaze away from Y/N who's laughter still managed to bring crimson to his cheeks.

"I'm paying attention!" Harry insisted.

"Really?" Hermione said in disbelief, "What's the last thing I said?"

Harry stared at her not knowing. "How good Ron looks in his jumper?" Harry said smiling at her.

"No," Hermione said trying to ignore the blush in her cheeks while Ron was too busy closing his eyes in his chair to notice. "What are the lines of the poem?"

"'Come seek us where our voices sound'," Harry sighed laying his chin in the book he had opened.

"The Black Lake," Hermione said, "That's obvious."

Ron started lightly snoring in his chair until Hermine smacked him with the book she was holding.

"'An hour-long, you'll have to look'," Harry recalled.

"Again obvious," Hermione said. "Though it must be potentially problematic."

"Potentially problematic?" Harry said looking up at Hermione annoyed. "When's the last time you held your breath underwater for an hour, Hermione?"

"Look," Hermione said walking over to him and placing a hand on his shoulder, "We can do this. The three of us can figure this out."

However, Harry didn't know if they could. And despite his admiration for Hermione, her hand felt foreign on his shoulder, as it just reminded him how much he wished it was Y/N's.

"Hate to break up the scholar's session," a voice came from behind them.

They looked to see Mad-Eye Moody staring at the three of them intently. "Professor McGongall would like to see you in her office."

The trio began to all stand up until Mad-Eye Moody stopped them. "Not you Weasley and Potter," Moody said. "Just Granger. And you too Sinclair," he called exposing Y/N for looking at what her friends and her ex-friend had been doing.

Harry's presence was just mocking her in every way possible. They used to be so close and now they wouldn't even look at each other. Him just sitting there kept reminding her of the way she used to feel for him.

Y/N started to get up but Hermione started to protest. "But sir, the second task is only hours away andโ€”"

"Exactly," Mad-Eye Moody said. "Presumably Potter is better prepared by now and could do with a good night's sleep. Go."

"Now!" He said much more sternly.

Y/N bid Fleur goodnight before getting up and following Hermione out of the Library.

"Are we in trouble?" Y/N asked confused as she followed Hermione.

"I have no idea," Hermione said anxiously.ย

Once the two had made it into Professor McGonagall's office they looked around oddly.ย

Professor McGonagall was standing by her desk in front of Cho Chang, and Gabrielle Delacour, both sending them a smile when they walked in.

"Are we in trouble Professor," Hermione asked nervously, while Y/N looked around in confusion.

"Do you know what's going on?" Y/N whispered to Cho.

"No idea," Cho answered, her slight Scottish accent showing through. "I thought you might."

"I'm sorry to call you all here, when you'd much rather be retiring to your dorms but," Professor McGongall took a breath, "You all are a necessary element in the next task."

Everyone looked at the Professor in confusion.ย

"And by necessary element you meanโ€”?"

"Hostages," Professor McGongall said plainly.

"Hosta-what now?" Y/N asked looking at Hermione who seemed just as alarmed as she did.

"It's not dangerous at all," Professor McGongall ensured. "You're to be put under a sleeping charm, and each champion will have to retrieve their prized possession from the lake."

"I'm sorry, but what does that have to do with us?" Cho asked.

"You four are the prized possessions," Professor McGongall explained.

Y/N just looked at her Professor in deep confusion along with the rest of the girls.

"You four have been deemed highly important to the four champions," Professor McGongall said reading their faces. "Miss Granger for Mr. Krum, Miss Chang for Mr. Diggory, Miss Delacour for Miss Delacour, and Miss Sinclair for Mr. Potter."

Y/N could sense Hermione's giggles from where she stood baffled at Professor McGonagall.

Surely something had to be mistaken.

Most prized possession? They haven't spoken in weeks and he's been pretty clear about where he stands. Right?

"I'm sure you all still have questions but unfortunately this is all-time sensitive so I'm going to need to perform the spell now," Professor McGongall said.

"Whโ€”"

But everything went dark after a flash of light from her teacher's wand.
