"Let the feast begin!"
─── ∙ ~☾~ ∙ ───
After all the first years were sorted Y/N saw Dumbledore make his way out of his Headmaster chair to the front of the students.
"Welcome!" he shouted cheerfully. Y/N could see the countless candles lit around the hall. She looked up and saw that the ceiling was enchanted to look like a beautiful night sky.
"Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to tell you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it is best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast...."
Surrounding students rolled their eyes and groaned. After a long train ride and a dementor attack, all Y/N wanted to do was eat.
"As you will be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently playing host to some of the dementors of Azkaban who are here on Ministry of Magic business," he continued.
Y/N's head started to spin slightly. Those terrifying creatures were going to be around her school? And what "Ministry Business" is he referring to.
"They are stationed at every entrance to the grounds, and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises---or even Invisibility cloaks.
"I, therefore, warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. It is not in the nature of a dementor to understand pleading or excuses." Y/N shuddered at her new Professors words. She snuck a glance at the Gryffindor table and she and Harry exchanged a nervous look.
Dumbledore cleared his throat and started cheerfully, "On a happier note, I am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year. First, Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Arts teacher."
Not many students knew of the name so there were scattered claps, however, Y/N, Harry, Ron, and Hermione clapped lengthily for the fact that he had helped them in the train compartment.
Compared to the other teachers Professor Lupin looked very out of place. His robes were old and torn compared to the other prominent teachers who were dressed in neat robes.
Y/N noticed a teacher with pale skin and black hair, that looked rather greasy, look unamused at the news. He seemed to loath the new teacher with the piercing stare he was giving him.
"And for the second new teacher," Dumbledore started up again, "Well I am sorry to tell you that Professor Kettleburn, our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, retired at the end of last year in order to enjoy more time with his remaining limbs."
Y/N had to stop herself from laughing. She had always had a bad habit of laughing at the wrong time when things might not have been amusing to everyone else.
"However, I am delighted to say that his place will be filled by none other than Rubeus Hagrid, who has agreed to take on this teaching job in addition to his gatekeeping duties."
The particularly large man Y/N had seen outside with the glistening kind eyes stood up. A huge amount of cheers came from the golden trio at the Gryffindor table while Malfoy sitting to Y/N's left groaned.
"This is stupid, my father will not stand for this." He hissed to Blaise.
"No one gives a damn about your father Draco," Y/N stated, getting more and more annoyed at the Slytherin boy.
From what she had seen so far Hagrid seemed like a kind person. No 13 year old boy needs to be making snide comments about it.
"Well, I think that's everything of importance," Dumbledore concluded, "Let the feast begin!"
Y/N was astounded as the plates and goblets at her table filled with food and drinks. Finally excited to eat some food other than the Wizarding candy she had with the twins she dug in. Keeping up a nice conversation with a blonde girl nearby named Daphne Greengrass and another girl named Tracy Davis she was starting to forget about the screams she heard on the train.
After she ate the last of her pumpkin tart and the leftovers started disappearing, the head boy and girl gathered the Slytherin house together and led them down to the dungeons.

Harry entered his dorm with Seamus, heavily complaining about the singing portrait to the Gryffindor tower who wouldn't let them in. He sighed happily greeting his beloved owl and his twin four-poster bed.
After all his door-mates, Dean, Seamus, Neville, and Ron had changed they started enjoying the prank candy they obtained from Fred and George, as well as the Wizarding candy they purchased from the trolley.
After Neville made a quite inhumane elephant noise, Seamus with his Gryffindor tie tied around his head passed candy to Ron, and he roared making an incredibly accurate lion sound.
"Try! Try one of them!" Ron exclaimed to Harry as he took candy and steam blew out of his ears and they all erupted into laughter.
"So Harry?" Ron questioned as the laughter died down. "Are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?"
Harry gave a bewildered look at his best friend.
"Bloody hell, Harry I'm talking about Y/N."
Harry started picking at his fingers, as Dean, and Seamus smirked.
"Really Ron? Bringing it up again?" He exasperated.
"I mean everyone could see the way you were staring at her," Seamus smiled smugly with his thick Irish accent exchanging a glance with Dean.
"You like her mate don't you?" Dean implied wiggling his eyebrows.
"I have known her for less than 24 hours. No I don't." Harry said embarrassingly.
"Keep telling yourself that," Ron said not believing him.
"Just pass me another candy," Harry said quickly avoiding eye contact with his friends. Neville passed him another candy making him make a dolphin noise which ended in extreme laughter between his friends.

"Boys Dormitories this way," a Slytherin Prefect pointed, "Girls the other way."
Y/N was dumbfounded at the fact the common room was underwater. She looked and saw a squid swim by and her eyes grew wide.
"Amazing isn't it?" Daphne Greengrass told her, a girl she had met during dinner.
"Amazing," Y/N said shocked at the scene around her.
Y/N smiled goodbye to Blaise and a boy named Theodore Nott she had met on the walk to the dungeons. She walked with Daphne and another girl Tracey Davis, who she had learned she would be sharing a dorm with, up to the girl's dormitories stairs ready to finally go to bed after a long day.
When they entered she noticed a girl with jet black hair cut short, sitting on one of the beds reading a book and another girl with short wavy brown hair and who was slightly plump with green eyes was unpacking her trunks.
"Pansy, this is Y/N Sinclair," Tracey introduced.
"I know who she is," the dark-haired girl stated coldly not looking up from her book.
"Well damn," Y/N muttered earning a snicker from Daphne.
"Y/N that's Pansy Parkinson," Tracey continued rolling her eyes.
She smiled at Tracey not letting Pansy's attitude ruin her first day at her new school.
As her dorm mates started to unpack engaging in light conversation about upcoming classes Y/N started to feel more and more comfortable in her new home. Perhaps she could avoid Malfoy and this won't be so bad.
After engaging in a game of never have I ever with her friendly dorm mates everyone's eyes started to get droopy.
"Classes don't start till Monday," Daphne explained, "But we should probably get some sleep."
Y/N hadn't noticed how tired she was until she laid down on her pillow falling asleep cuddled up in her sheets.

Y/N walked into the Great hall the next morning with Daphne talking about what the day planned ahead. It was Sunday the last day before her first day at Hogwarts.
For most students, it consisted of hanging around school with their friends enjoying their last day without school for the year. But if your Hermione, your studying in the library making sure you are over-prepared for the classes to come.
However, for the new Slytherin, the Deputy Headmistress had planned for her to go on a tour of the school with two selected students. She had owled Y/N this morning.
As they approached the table Draco was surrounded by his friends and a few mindless Slytherins who seemed deep into telling a story to them. As Y/N dove into her breakfast, she heard a voice near her shout,
"Hey, Potter!"
Y/N turned her head to see Harry entering the Great Hall with Ron and Hermione and the voice was coming from her least favorite dorm mate. Pansy Parkinson.
"Potter! The dementors are coming, Potter!" she continued earning laughs from Crabbe, Goyle, and Malfoy.
Harry's face wavered and he took a seat next to George trying his best to ignore the taunting.
"Great she's a girl version of Malfoy," Y/N muttered.
After breakfast, Y/N made her way to the Great Hall's open doors waiting for the students who were supposed to show her how to navigate the huge castle. She couldn't wait to see how the school looked like in the broad daylight.
As students were piling out she saw Professor McGonagall having an intense conversation with Harry and Draco and they both seemed to be quite annoyed. It was inevitable to fight with the Professor. She waved them both towards the door of the Great Hall.
"This is so stupid," Draco spat as he approached her.
"What do you want?" Y/N snapped back knowing that it was way too early in the morning to hear his annoying voice.
"Professor McGonagall wants me, and Malfoy to give you your tour for the day," Harry explained.
"The both of you? Why?" Y/N questioned at the need for the both of them. She much rather would spend the day with the Boy Who Lived than the Boy Who's an ass.
"Because apparently Malfoy's the smartest 3rd year in Slytherin and—,"
"Don't say that with such amusement Potter," Draco said as he crossed his arms, "How did you sleep? Mummy tuck you in last night? oh wait-"
Harry opened his mouth about to send a remark back but Y/N beat him to it.
"Listen hear daddy issues," she started looking him dead in the eye, "No one needs your snarkiness this early in the morning. So for the next couple hours just pretend to get along, show me around so I don't get lost tomorrow and then no one has to talk to each other ever again."
"Sounds good to me," Harry said eyeing Draco.
"Whatever. Let's start outside," Draco said crossly strutting to the front doors without the pair.
Y/N rolled her eyes at the boy's dramatics.
"Where does he think he's going without us?" Harry whispered to her smirking.
She lightly laughed and Harry felt his stomach flutter slightly. Had he brushed his hair correctly?
He thought back to the morning, but he was pulled out of his self-conscious thoughts when Y/N grabbed his hand and pulled him to catch up with Malfoy.
Y/N spent the rest of the morning getting a tour of the grounds, a complete tour of her common room, and a tour of the classrooms. It wasn't as bad as she assumed given Harry and Draco loathed each other but she successfully was able to understand the simple places of Hogwarts.
She spent most of her time talking with Harry given Draco wanted nothing to do with the pair but she enjoyed the conversation with the Gryffindor boy.
Draco would roll his eyes every time Y/N called Harry, Harold, or anytime Harry would mention something such as Hagrid's Hut or the Gryffindor common room, but Harry would also scoff at any mention of the Slytherins.
"Okay, you can go back to hating each other now," Y/N expressed as they finished the tour and neared the Great Hall for lunch.
"Oh thank god," Harry said relieved earning a scowl from Draco.
"You're happy? I'm the one who had to spend the morning with a filthy half-blood and blood traitor," Draco accused. With that, he walked back into the great hall and sat with his friends.
"Damn we were so close to being besties," Y/N stated sighing sarcastically.
"Did we really want to be close though?" Harry laughed.
"I guess your right Harold," Y/N smiled.
Light butterflies returned to Harry's stomach again.
Then Y/N felt two hands grab her shoulders from behind making her startle.
"There you are Y/N!" Tracey exclaimed to the young girl.
"We're going to hang out in the courtyard after lunch. Want to come?" Daphne asked standing next to her.
"Of course! I'll see you later Harold!" Y/N shouted before entering the Great Hall with her fellow Slytherins.
Harry smiled back then to himself. He was happy with his newfound friendship with the kind Slytherin.
─── ∙ ~☾~ ∙ ───
Due to the fact, Y/N was the last one to get out of the shower that night, her dorm was dark and quiet. As she started to slip into bed she heard a small.
That's odd. She thought. Her owl Athena was safe in the owlry.
She turned to see a snowy white owl with a tiny scroll of parchment attached to its foot by the end of her bed.
She looked at the bird in confusion not knowing who the owl belonged too but she opened the piece of parchment.
"Y/N can you meet me outside of the Slytherin Common Room now?"
-𝓗𝓪𝓻𝓸𝓵𝓭
As Y/N read the piece of parchment the snowy owl flew away not giving her a chance to write a reply back.
Without thinking she grabbed a zip-up black hoodie and put it over her pajamas. She carefully crept open the door and slipped out of her dorm and down the stairs of the dormitories.
There was no one in the common room so Y/N made a break for the door wondering what this was about.
When she was successfully outside she heard a low whisper say, "Y/N."
