Chapter 5
Katrina's POV –
My face and pillow were wet with tears as I cried from the pain. Rain's hand was white with the grip I had on him. He was knelt at the side of my bed, stroking my hair attempting to offer comfort as Toby worked on my broken ankle. I whimpered again, shutting my eyes tight. "Toby, can you give her anything for the pain? Please! I can't watch her like this anymore!" Rain demanded from Toby. Toby let out a sad little sigh, "I can't just yet Rain. Once I've set this, I have to check if she's hurt anywhere else before giving her pain meds."
"Well, please hurry." With a nod, Toby carried on setting my ankle as thoughtfully as he could. He moved it into the correct position causing me to scream from the pain of my bones moving. Rain winced beside me, giving my hand a small squeeze. Once in place, he wrapped it tightly with thick bandages. When the bandages were thick enough I couldn't move, he then placed a splint on either side, so that when it healed, it I would heal in the correct place.
"We can take her to the hospital to get a cast. That's the best option we have." Toby said looking at Rain. As he did so, he could see Rain shaking his head slowly before speaking. "We can't take her to hospital. She would need ID and they would take her back to where she came from for being a minor. No, we'll just have to make do here. As long as it heals and she isn't in pain, that's all that matters." He stated knowingly. Looking down at me, a sad look crosses Rain's face. "I'm sorry little one. We just can't take the risk." I nod tiredly at him, exhausted from the pain. Out of the corner of my eye, I see Toby reaching into his bag and pulling out a needle. "Alright Kat, I'm going to give you some morphine. It will help with the pain and you'll be able to sleep." With tired eyes, I felt the needle slide in. After a couple of minutes, I felt relief flow through my body as the pain decreased. With that, I fell asleep.
When I woke again, Rain was fast asleep in the chair next to my bed looking uncomfortable. I moved my head looking around my room. Forgetting about my ankle, I tried to sit up. Hissing in pain, I stopped moving. The noise I made must have awoken Rain, as he moved and held my hand in his. "Hey honey. How are you feeling?" he asked me softly. "My ankle hurts." I whispered to him, distress coming across in my voice. He jumped out of his seat before walking to the door. "I'll be back in a minute with some pain meds." He said.
With that, I was left waiting for him to come back. Looking down, my ankle was elevated on a pillow. Knowing that it was still extremely sore, I kept my leg still. Hearing footsteps coming closer to my room, I looked at the door in time to see Dean come into my room. "Hey Kitty Kat. How you doing?" He said to me as he walked closer to my bed. Careful as to not jostle my leg, he sat down on the edge of the bed, his hand creeping into my own. "I'm ok. In a lot of pain, but Rain's gone to get me some pain meds." I replied to him after clearing my voice. He sighed whilst closing his eyes. "I'm so sorry this happened to you. If I knew who did it, I would kill them for touching you." He apologised to me.
I started shaking my head straight away as he looked up at me. "No. Don't apologise. It was my own stupid fault. I wasn't paying attention to where I was or how late it got. It won't happen again." He gave me a small smile. "As soon as it's healed and you're back on your feet, you are training with Daniel every day until you can protect yourself so nothing like this happens again." He said to me with a stern voice. I let out a small, soft giggle before nodding my head agreeing with him. I wanted to be able to look after myself. I didn't want to be weak anymore and be the one to get hurt all the time.
Suddenly remembering Blake saving me, I forgot about my leg yet again, moving sharply and gasping with the action. With a worried look, Dean put his hand on my shoulder to stop me from attempting to move again. "Where's Blake?! I have to thank him! He saved me. If he didn't get there when he did...I...I don't even want to think what could have happened." I rushed out, my voice shaking a little. I shook in fear as I remembered what the man was going to do to me. A tear escaped my eye as I felt them well up. I felt Dean brush his fingers across my face, swiping the tear away before he made calming noises.
"Blake was the one who brought you here. He said he was going to pop in to check up on you. Yes, it was very lucky he arrived when he did. When you're ready, I want you to tell me what happened with that guy before Blake arrived. I won't push you though. In your own time Kitty Kat." He replied making me let out a sigh and nuzzle my head into his hand.
I heard a creak come from the doorway and looked up to see Rain walk through, a bottle of pills in his hand. He walked over to the bed, placing down the pills and water he had in his hand. "Right. We need to sit you up so you can take your pills. Dean, if you can help." With a grunt of agreement, they both positioned themselves beside me, one either side. With a count to three, Rain gently pulled me up the bed whilst Dean moved the pillow with my leg on, to stop it from being jostled too much. Even though they tried not to hurt me, I still let out a small whimper of pain.
Now sat up in bed, Rain provided me with two pills and the glass. Popping them in, I gulped the water down. "Now, they may take a little while to kick in, but they will make you feel much better when they do." Rain said as he stroked my hair back away from my face. I gave him a small smile. As time passed, my eyes started to droop as I started getting tired from the pills. My head got fuzzy and I faintly heard mumbling from Rain and Dean as I fell asleep.
