Chapter 3

Katrina's POV –

My first day of self-defence was rough. Daniel had me circuit training to build up my stamina, as well as weights to build up strength. Although I ached to high heaven, I was also so excited and happy. This morning when I woke up, my body was achy and sore. I struggled to get out of bed but knew a shower would help. The hot shower did wonders. My training was done in the evening after I had completed my cleaning jobs and the fighters were done for the day.

I had just finished up cleaning the locker rooms as everyone went home. Mopping um the last of the excess water from the floor, I swiped the sweat from my brow and let out a tired huff with a small happy smile. Collecting all the cleaning supplies, I make my way to the little closet to put it all away. Closing the door, I head to Dean's office to talk to him. Knocking, I wait to be told to come in. Once I got the ok, I walk in and stand by the wall. In the chair in front of Dean, was a young man. He had dark hair and looked tall even when sitting. He was very muscular and his arms flexed with every move he made. He didn't turn around to look at me.

Next to him, was an older gentleman in a business suit. His hair was slicked back and he was holding a briefcase by the side of him. The light caught his watch and it shined from the diamonds. This one did turn around but dismissed me straight away. How rude. Dean stood up from his chair and held out his hand. The rich man just turned his nose up before turning and walking out of the room, completely blanking me as if I wasn't even there. The man huffed in anger before he too stood from his seat, shaking Dean's hand sharply. Turning around, he looked at me for the first time, glancing up and down before walking out, closing the door behind himself.

Dean let out a breath of air as the tension in the room disappeared. "Who was that?" I asked him softly, being curious. Dean gestured to the chair as I walked over and sat down. "That, was Blake. He's the new fighter I'm trying to get to train here with his sponsor. If I can, I can keep this place going." He replied. "How's it looking?" my head tilts to one side as I ask him. Dean just sighs, his head tilting back. "The kid says the place looks promising. He's interested what he could learn here. The other guy, Warren, thinks this place is a dump and a waste of his time. Luckily, it's not up to him. Blake said he wants to pop in a few days this week when the fighters are in to see what its like. Maybe have a training session to get the feel of the place. It's just a waiting game now."

I look around the room thinking of something to say. "But that's good Dean. How about, you get Daniel and Stevens to come in more often. Maybe even Toby? You could even get some of the kids in. Show them you help people as well. You know, keeping the kids safe off the streets." He looks at me for a while and smiles. "Damn kid, you're good. That's an idea. I'll call the boys in for a word and get the word out that the place is open more this week for the kids." I smile back at him, my mind going 100 miles per hour. "We can do a couple of flyers. Not many, just enough to spread the word. I can go hang them or hand them out to people!" I reply, almost bouncing in my seat with excitement. Dean laughs at me. "Go on then. We all know you're the best here with computers. Knock yourself out." Before I can leave though, Dean says one last thing. "But Kat! Be careful alright. You know what it's like out there." I nod my head and leave his office.

As I'm walking to my room, I see Daniel walking towards me. "You ready Kitty Kat?" I gasp in shock. "Oh Daniel. I'm so sorry! I'm going to have to cancel our session tonight. Dean wants to talk to you. He'll explain everything to you!" I shout back as I carry on passed him, hearing him let out a chuckle at my actions.

Once in my room, I blast my music and get to work on the flyer. Half an hour later, after playing around with words, colours and pictures, I think I've done all I can. I print off one copy before running back to the office. Knocking the door, I walk in without waiting on a reply. The talking in the room stops as I make my way to the desk and put the flyer down in front of the guys. They lean over looking at it. A couple of minutes got by in silence and I started to get nervous thinking they don't like it. "Kat! That's amazing! Get a couple printed off. Say 50 to start with. You can do it today if you like, just don't be out too late. Make sure you come back before it starts getting dark. Alright?" Dean says to me with a wide grin.

"Yes! Thanks Deans!" I shout as I rush out of the room. I print out 50 copies and grab the staple punch. As I hurriedly walk to the door, I pass Rain. "where you off too little lady?" he says with a smile. Without stopping, I turn and walk backwards so I can answer, "Can't stop Rain. I've got some flyers to hand out. I'll be back a little later. See ya!" I turn back around and open the door walking through I to the outside. "Be careful!" is the last I hear from Rain before the door shuts behind me.

Skipping down the street and humming to myself, I hand some flyers out to some of the kids I recognise from the gym and staple some to posts in the street. Without knowing, I've walked quite a distance from the gym. The houses look more run down as I look up and gasp with shock as I realise its staring to get dark and I knew I was going to be late getting in. I was a little nervous about this fact.

Spinning around on the meet quickly, I start to rush back home. I haven't made it that far before I feel someone staring at me. Looking out of the corner of my eye, I see a group of guys standing at the corner of an alley. I carry on walking, my steps speeding up trying to avoid them as I walk by.

It's not long before I hear footsteps following. I gasp in terror and start jogging down the street. In no time at all, I feel a hand grasp my arm roughly before I'm pushed into an alley. I whimper and back into a wall looking at the guys who are now stood in front of me.  One of them blocks the alley way as the others form a circle around me. Trapping me. "P...Please. Let me g...go." I stutter. The guys just laugh before one steps closer. I assume the leader.

I turn my head to one side with a whimper, closing my eyes in the process. His hand comes up to my face, curling a piece of hair around his finger. I feel him lean in closer as he licks the side of my face. I squeal in horror as they just laugh. "Aren't you just a wee little thing. So pretty. Don't you know it's dangerous after dark little girl." The man says tauntingly. A tear escapes my eye, rolling down my face.

His body comes closer to mine as he rubs himself against me. I cry in horror and terror. His hands grab my chin and force my face closer to his as he presses his lips to mine. I squeal again. He tries forcing his tongue inside my mouth, but I bite him. Cursing, he pulls away from me, lifting his hand to his lip he swipes the blood away. His face turns angry as his hand flies through the air, hitting my face. I collapse to the ground groaning in pain. From experience, I knew that it was going to bruise.

"Stupid girl! We could have done this the easy way." He screams at me as he grasps my hair. I gasp in pain as my hands reach up to grasp his to relieve the agony from my head. I hear a grunt from the alley way and look to see someone fighting one of the guys. Two more rush over to help their friend.

Punches and kicks are thrown, but the mysterious guy dodges all of them, giving back twice he received. In no time at all, all three men are either knocked out or groaning from the ground. One of them is holding his leg and the other conscious one is holding his privates. Heavy breathes come from the guy who fought them. His head tilts up and I gasp as I see who it is.
