Chapter 20

Katrina's POV –

I wake up to the sun shining across my face, after falling asleep with my curtains still open from the night before. Looking at the time, I see it is already after 10am. I roll over in bed onto my back, my arms flopping either side of me. Looking up at the ceiling I let out a small sigh.

As excited as I was about tonight, I was also nervous. I had seen the guy Blake was fighting. I think it's going to be a close match tonight.

Knowing Blake isn't coming over till the evening, I somehow find the motivation to get up. Walking to my closet, I grab some lounge clothes and set them on the bed before heading into the bathroom. Stepping under the running water, I tilt my head back and run my fingers through my hair, wetting it thoroughly. Reaching for my shampoo, I wash my hair. I stand under the water long enough for the conditioner to wash out and the soapy suds to run from my body, leaving me clean.

Turning the tap off, I step out, creating a puddle on the floor in the process. I wrap a towel around my body, tucking it in to keep it up. Looking in the mirror, I frown at the reflection. My hands find themselves in my hair once again, this time examining the length and split ends.

I suddenly have a light-bulb moment, as an idea comes to me. Now excited, I rush back into my room and get changed. After applying a thin layer of makeup to look presentable, I grasp my bag with my purse and burst out my bedroom door running into a surprised Mike.

His hands grip my sides to stop me from falling. "Woah missy. Where are you off to in such a hurry? I see no signs of a fire."

"Sorry Mike. I'm just popping out for a few hours and I want to be back before Blake gets here later tonight."

"Well... alright. Just be more careful next time. And don't be too long either. I think Rain has something for you."

"Thanks' Mike. See you later." I call behind me as I head for the exit. I hear his laughter as the door closes behind me. Seeing a taxi, I hold out my arm as it comes to a stop in front of me.

"Carla Mall please."

The taxi driver nods before setting off. I sit back in my seat and relax for the short journey.

After 20 minutes, I make it into the North Side of town. Arriving outside Carla Mall, I pay the driver before hopping out. Walking without an exact destination, I pull out my phone, and type in on maps where I wish to go.

Memorizing the route, I head off to the right, reading the name of the shops as I walk by. Finally, something catches my eye. In front of me was 'Bella's Hair Lounge'. Just what I was looking for.

A bell rings as I open the door, announcing my arrival. A bubbly looking girl sits at the counter.

"Hi! Welcome to Bella's Hair Lounge! I'm Sherry, how may I help you today?"

I smile at her welcoming attitude, liking her already.

"Hi. I'm looking to get a colour and cut. I was wondering if you had any spaces available?"

Looking at the computer in front of her, I see her eyes flick across the screen, taking in the information presented to her.

"Hmm. Looking at this, I'm afraid we have no available spaces until tomorrow. I can book you in if you're still interested?"

I let out a disappointed sigh. "Yea. Okay. Thank you."

Before Sherry can get another word out, an angry looking man storms out from the room behind her.

"Bloody customers! Why can't they just turn up at their appointed times?! And if not, why can't they phone to let you know?!" He huffs out, his hand running through his hair in frustration.

Turning around to face him, Sherry begins to speak. "Not another one Jim. That's the third one this week. What were they due for?"

"Oh, only a complete change! Colour, cut, style... the whole lot! I've lost so much money and time this week." He complains, his hands resting on the back of Sherry's chair, his head hanging down. When he looks up, he suddenly notices me.

"Oh! I'm sorry love. Am I holding you up?"

"Oh no Jim! This young lady was looking to get an appointment today, but with everything filled, I'm going to book her in tomorrow. Oh! Jim! ... I'm sorry miss, I didn't get you name!" she exclaims in shock.

With a short giggle, I answer her question, "Kat. My name's Kat."

"Sorry. Kat here actually wants a cut and colour. Since your customer didn't turn up, how about I slot her in now with you?"

Jim's eyebrows rise high, almost disappearing into his hairline whilst clapping his hands together.

"Oh my! What a wonderful idea Sherry! Yes! Yes! Do that. Now love, if you would like to follow me through to the back, we'll get started. As you know, I'm Jim. And I'll take care of your..." he looks over my hair, his face looking pained, "... new look, no worries."

Leading me back, he gestures to the seat in front of the mirror and I take a seat. A cape is thrown across me, and fastened at the back, protecting me from any dye or cut hair. Before he starts, Jim heads to the stereo, turning on some music since we both know how long this is going to take. The song bursting through the speakers is recognisable. Well, it is to me at least.

'I see a red door

And I want it painted black

No colours anymore

I want them to turn black

I see the girls walk by

Dressed in their summer clothes

I have to turn my head

Until my darkness goes'

Asking what colour I want to go and the style, he gets the dye ready and begins. After roughly two hours, my hair is finally coloured and is now being styled. Jim was extremely easy to chat with and offered to be my usual hairdresser. Of course, I agreed.

After another hour, my hair is finally complete. Looking in the mirror from different angles, I can't help but smile at the results. Shocking us both, I spin around and hug him.

Walking back out to the reception, Sherry wolf whistles at me. I twirl on the spot, showing off.

"Looking hot girl. I like it!"

"Thanx Sherry. And I can't thank you enough Jim. What's the damage?"

Calculating the cost, Sherry inputs it into the system before telling me.

"That's just £65 miss."

I wince at the price but can't help but carry on smiling. I was so happy with the final result; I was happy to pay the price. After paying, I promise to come back soon and leave the shop. Calling a taxi, I stand at the curb to wait. As I do, I see people staring at me as they walk by, making me a little nervous.

Shaking it off, I climb inside the car as it arrives, giving him the address to the gym. I couldn't wait to surprise everyone with my new look.

Stepping out from the taxi, I walk to the door and enter the building. As I walk towards the kitchen, I notice the men stop what they were doing and watch me as I walk by, causing me to smirk. As I walk through into the kitchen, everyone inside stops to stare, some had their mouths open and others' eyes were wide with shock.

"What the... Kat?" Mike stuttered out.

"Hello boys."

The room is silent. Rain walks over, touching my hair. A grin spreads across his face, "Suits you Kat." The room suddenly bursts with noise as everyone compliments me. Receiving this reaction from my family, I can't wait to show Blake. Rain brings out his hand from behind his back holding a small box. Taking it, I pull the bow and remove the lid. As I see what's inside, I gasp and look up at Rain's smiling face. Carefully, I remove the delicate piece of jewellery. Turning it this way and that, I slide it down over my middle finger, admiring the silver snake ring. In joy, I hug Rain to me.

"Thanx Dad. I love it!"

I pull back with a smile. Realising the time, I let out a curse before rushing from the kitchen into my room to get ready. Seems as though I took longer than planned.

Deciding to add a bit of bounce to my hair, I curl it into beach waves. With the new colour, the result is amazing. I apply my makeup in a smoky look and dark lips. Choosing my clothes, I go with a mesh crop-top, plaid shirt and ripped jeans with my kickass, heeled boots. Turning this way and that, I spritz myself in perfume before leaving and heading for the kitchen once again.

The boys wolf whistle, causing me to blush as I appreciate their opinion. Rain wraps his arm around my shoulder as he comes up behind me, pulling me close into him.

"Not long now Kitty Kat. He'll be here soon." I smile up at him as he realises what I was just thinking. We all sit around talking as we wait for Blake to arrive.

At 6:50pm, we hear the main door bang as someone enters. Footsteps can be heard walking towards us. They stop abruptly, causing us to all look towards the doorway. There, frozen in place, is Blake. His eyes are wide as he takes me in.

My body heats with lust as his eyes roam my figure, stopping on my hair. The room is quiet. Blake then starts walking towards me. I barely notice Rain moving away, too distracted by the look in my boyfriend's eyes. His arms wrap around my waist, pulling me into him tight. My hands rest upon his defined chest, feeling his powerful muscles through his t-shirt.

His head comes down to mine, burying it into my neck. My breathing speeds up with the unknown. I let out an unexpected, quiet moan as he kisses my neck, groaning himself.

"Jesus Angel. The things you do to me. You're hot as fuck babe. And the hair... black and blue... suits you babe."

I giggle at his words as he pulls back, just looking at me. Our faces grow closer again as we lean in for a kiss. Unfortunately, it's cut short as the guys clear their throats to get out attention, reminding us we are still in the room with others.

Seeing the time, we all head for the exit, grabbing taxis to meet there. Rain, Dean, Blake, and I go in one. When we arrive, we go through the back where the fighters get ready, as the rest take their places amongst the crowd.

I stay out of the way, as Rain and Blake talk through the plan. Just before we go to leave, I'm pulled back into a hard body, and the breath is stolen from me as I am kissed aggressively, being released just as suddenly.

"Kiss good luck babe." Blake says smiling down at me. We walk out into the main room hand in hand. I stand to the side with Dean and Blake's manager, David.

Rain and Blake are talking as they do final checks. The lights dim, and the music starts, announcing the beginning of the match as the fighters walk out to the ring to their own songs.
