Iva's POV :

Adreano wore a bathrobe and asked me to stay in the room. He left to check out who was at the door. My heart was pounding. I don't know if it was real or I was imagining things but the sound of sirens were reaching my ears.

Adreano was taking time, and I was getting more and more restless. I can't let the police to arrest Ad. It wasn't his mistake but Max's. I decided to go out and support Ad.

"It's not his fault! Max tried to rape me!" I came out of the room shouting.

There was a pin drop silence. The door was closed. There were no cops, no sound of the sirens but silence. Ad stood in front of me with a large box of pizza and coke. He looked at me astonishingly and kept all the stuffs on the adjacent table.

"Iva, are you okay?"

"Uh..yeah..yeah I am fine." I said while looking around and to my left and right.

"I think you are hungry." He said curving his lips in a smile.

Damn his lips!

My stomach made a rumbling sound in response of Ad's question.

I touched my stomach. "Yes I am hungry."

"I'll just come back. You can start if you want."

"I will wait."

He threw a smile and went back to his room.

I opened the two large boxes of pizza. Who's going to eat so much? These boxes are too much just for the two of us. Maybe Ad eats a lot. I poured the soft drinks on the two fancy glasses.

Adreano came out of his room. He was wearing light grey colored sweat shirt and pants. I was mesmerized by his physique. He was smiling at me and I smiled back in response.

Suddenly I felt something wet and cold on my thighs. I looked down. Oh shit!!

It didn't took much time for me to realize that I over filled the coke and the excess fell on my pants. Phew! For a moment I thought it was something else!

I realized Adreano's eyes on me.

"It's...uhm...the coke..um.." I tried to explain but his assuring nod indicated that he understood.

He returned back with a towel and a pair of pants. I went in the room, cleaned myself and changed.

We started eating. There was an awkward silence. Many thoughts were revolving in my mind but I was hesitating to utter anything. What should I say? About Max? About the scratches on my breast and back?

"Thank you." Words flew from my mouth.

I glanced at Adreano. He was already looking at me. He smiled awkwardly and then looked away.

"Uh, Ad...thank you." words flew out of my mouth.

"No need for thank you." He said politely. "I am happy that I arrived at the right time." He paused for a while and suddenly his fist made a thud on the table. "That Max! That bastard!!" He growled softly.

"Take it easy." I said him.

He looked at me astonishingly. Of course why won't he look at me like that? I was about to get raped by Max and now I am calming Ad? Infact I should be the one to bang my fist on the table. I should scream and throw punches on Max with all my might. Most importantly, I should cry. But to my astonishment I was feeling calm. Why? We'll I don't have any answer for that, but currently I was feeling safe and light in Adreano's company.

We ate the rest of the dinner silently.

Adreano later took me to another room.

"You can sleep here." He said warmly.

"Uh, thanks." I shot back a smile.

Adreano left.

I didn't turned off the lights. I lied flat on my back. My eyes were fixed on the ceiling. The incidence with Max was projecting in front of me. I was watching each and every detail. His blood shot eyes, his hungry lips, his alcoholic breath; I was starting to feel his presence which shook me in terror. There was strong notion to ran to the other room and hug Ad with all strength, because currently he was the one who took care of me.

After rolling on the bed for more half an hour I came out of the room. Lights were dimmed. Adreano was standing in the balcony of the living room. Smoke was fading away in the air, I moved closer and realized that Ad was smoking as the balcony was filled with many unfinished cigarettes.

"You smoke this much at a time?" I asked.

Startled, he turned to me, "You are awake?"

"I didn't slept. My thoughts weren't allowing me...uh.." I paused.

"Are you okay Iva?" He asked in his comforting voice.

I nodded in approval.

"You should not smoke this much." I said while pointing at the crushed cigarettes.

He looked down, "Oh these..I don't smoke on a daily basis, it's only when my brain freezes."

We stood there without exchanging words. The smoke faded with our silence.

Next day I woke up and was startled to see Ana in front of me. I rubbed my eyes to clear the blur.

"Ana.." I whispered sleepily.

She immediately hugged me with all her might like I was a big sized teddy who don't have bones.

"Ana! My bones will crack." I somehow managed to speak.

She released me. "Are you okay??" River were flowing down her eyes. At first I was confused but soon my mind was registered with all the past night happenings.

"Yeah I fine." I smiled.

Ad and James entered the room.

"Get that fucking Max behind the bars!" Ana shouted.

Ad and James exchanged a silent look.

On noticing Ana added, "Oh so he's your friend and he can do whatever he wants with a girl but you won't send him to jail. He tried to rape Iva dammit!! Have you seen the marks on her body?" Ana was on top of her voice.

James hugged her but Ana threw fists on him and tried to move him away but he calmed her down and she fled her tears.

"Max is in the hospital. We have lodged the complaint and he will get arrested I assure you."

I noticed some kind of uneasiness between James and Ad, maybe because Max is their good friend.

Ana had brought me some clothes, I got ready and we headed to hospital. Though I was fine, Ana adviced me to have a checkup just to be safe.

We were in James car but I noticed Ad following us.
