Chapter Three

Adreano's POV :

"Mr Stryker you have a meeting today at seven this evening." Mr. David is ready for the project. said my assistant Sophia with a big smile on her face.

"Cancel all my meetings for today. I am busy. Contact me only if there's any emergency." I said walking towards the elevator.

"But sir, Mr. David is finally ready to talk to you about this construction deal for which you worked so hard." She said keeping her pace with my footsteps.

"This is my office and I am going to decide to cancel or appoint any meetings not Mr. David. If there's any free time in tomorrow's schedule fix our meeting or let my father handle it today."

"Okay sir."

I was in a hurry. I forgot my date with her. I bought bouquet of pink roses from the nearby florist shop and headed to my sweetheart's favorite restaurant.

I entered the restaurant. "You are late." I heard a know voice. I turned back and there she was wearing a dark navy blue colored dress and the pearl necklace which I gifted her. She never fails to astound me. She's looking so gorgeous.

"Hey my love, I am so sorry. You know how these New York's roads are." I said while handling her the bouquet.

"That's not done Adreano. Why always you blame the traffic? We are meeting after two long weeks and see you are late as always. I landed today from Mississippi, still I managed to come on time. You know what? I am cancelling all our future dates in advance!" She said folding her hands across each other. She turned her face away from me.

"Ummmm...I am soo soo sorry Grandma." She didn't gave any response.

"Helloooo??" No response. At last I said, "What's my punishment #20?"

She turned her face towards me. Her face lightened. "Whoa, look how happy you become when it comes giving me punishment to me."

"Hahaha, this is how I can take you in the right way when you are lost. Hahaha!"

"Ahem, punishment please."

"Tomorrow I am organizing a tea party in our mansion. So I need you to bring handmade biscuits and cookies from the famous 'Ripen Flour Shop' she said with a grin on her face.

"What? Seriously Granny???"

"I am very serious kid." She nodded her head.

"Oh you kidding me right? I am a business man, why the hell I would go to any biscuit shop and buy cookies. It's so weird!"

"Fine. Bye." She grabbed her purse, before she could stand and walk out, I said, "Okay fine, I'll go. Can my beautiful date smile now?"

She smiled.

"So any googly good news?"

"Grandma, there won't be any news. I am done with these girls. I am not going to marry ever in my life."

"Don't say something like that. Before I die I want to see you wife, the love of your life. Then only I can rest in peace. I want someone to take care of you more than me when I'll not be around you."

"Hey, don't say like that. You're still young. Finding a girl who loves you no matter what happens seems impossible to me. I mean every girl I date with, love my money, my luxury, power, but not me. If someday I'll be bankrupt I bet you no one will stand beside me. They'll find another Richie Rich and fly to them like hawks and eagles ready to eat their flesh and money. What's the point being in such relationship?"

"I totally understand child. There's a huge difference between yours and ours generation. The way of living, the priorities, everything has changed but I can tell you for sure one thing which is not changed yet is true love. Not every girl runs after cash. I know you'll meet your love of your life soon who will love you and not your money." This time the smile on her face was different. She seemed very confident on her words.

Grandma loves me very much and I love her too. Mom and dad were busy in business and left me alone with academics. Grandma cared for me back then. She played with me. When I felt alone, she was there for me. She became my parent. Now, she's growing old, she wants to see my bride before she dies. Alas! That's not possible I guess.

We reached home. I took a hot shower, did some research on our new project. It was one a.m. and I was still awake. I went to Grandma's room. I have said her not to lock her room as I sometime visit her at nights, to see if she's okay or not.

The lights were dimmed and she was sleeping in peace. I sat near her, took her hands in mine, my eyes were filled with tears with the thought of losing her. I didn't cried, just a tiny drop of tear came into my periphery. She's the ultimate source of my happiness and I can't afford to lose her.

After few minutes, I was feeling sleepy so I put the sheets on Grandma and went back to sleep.

Tomorrow after meeting I have to go to the biscuit shop. Ehhhh...Grandma..!!!
