Chapter Four
The Biscuit Shop:
Iva's POV:
"Mom I have prepared the breakfast, make sure you drink the carrot juice." I said running down the stairs of my bedroom.
"Won't you join me for breakfast?"
"Mom, I already had my breakfast. You were in a deep sleep, I didn't wanted to disturb you. Okay mom....I have to rush. I am getting late." I picked up my bag and moved out hurriedly.
"Thank you my child. Take care." I heard mom. I was already out of home, far away from her.
I work in a famous old biscuit shop, 'The Ripen Flour' since two years. My employer Mr. Smith is the owner of the shop. He's a good man. He was my father's best friend. After my father's death, he gave me job in his own shop. He's very kind hearted person and like a father to me.
His wife Sharon died in a car accident six months ago. Unfortunately, they had no child and so Mr. Smith is totally alone. I sometimes bring breakfast for him and we have it together.
Mr. Smith taught me the art of preparing almost all the biscuits and cookies present in our menu. I work on the counter and also make biscuits and cookies with Mr. Smith sometimes.
"Good Morning Mr. Smith." I said while wearing the apron on which the shop's name was engraved.
"Good Morning sweetheart." He said putting the shop's cap on my head. I smiled.
"Hey Iva listen, I won't be available for a week because I am going to my brother's place."
"Oh, why? Any problem?"
"Yeah, he's going to have a liver transplant, I have to be there with him." He sighed.
"For a week? How will I manage without you?" I frowned.
"Dear, you are not alone, Cody will be there to help you. He'll take care of the counters and the orders, you just have to make the biscuits and cookies. Okay?" He smiled.
"Umm, okay." I gave him an instant short smile. I can't refuse him, he has done so much for me and my family. It's the first time he has asked me to something. But how I will manage without him?
"Thank you Iva. I am leaving as I have to do all the packing."
"Okay. Take care."
"Don't worry, I know you'll manage the shop well."
"I hope so. Bye Mr. Smith" I sighed.
"Bye dear." He waved.
I went into the kitchen. Cody was handling the counter. I was making Chocolate cookies. Cody entered into the kitchen. He said me to make a pack of Almond-Chocolate biscuits, Pistachio and Cranberry cookies for a special customer. He came four times in the kitchen, telling me to make the order fast. At last I lost my patience, "Cody tell your special customer that the order will take time."
I heard Cody talking to the customer, "Sir you order will take some time."
"How much?" the customer asked.
"Sir, maybe two hours. There are already many orders."
"Two hours? I want them in half an hour!"
"Sir, you don't have to wait here, I'll deliver it wherever you say. I'll note down the address." I heard the conversation between the two of them. Cody and delivery? Sounds weird!
He has never ever delivered any order, we have a special delivery boy. If Cody is ready for delivery, then this customer is really an important person.
"I want to meet the chef now!" The customer banged the counter.
"No sir you can't...I..I mean she's busy." I heard Cody. His voice was shaky.
"Hey you..!" He entered into the kitchen. I turned. What the hell he's doing here? He moved his steps steadily towards me and because of the wet floor he slipped. As I tried to save him, my hands lost grip from the box of flour, and all the flour rained on Adreano. His hair, Armani suit, his face were covered with the flour.
"Oh shit! Iva!!! What have you done!" Cody shouted.
Why me? Why always me? Mr. Smith has just left placing the shop's responsibility on my weak shoulder, thinking I will manage it well, and here I successfully took a first step proving him wrong.
"I...I am so sorry sir." I said cleaning his face with a cloth.
"Get away!!! What are you trying to do? Have you signed a contract to harm me?" He said taking my hands away from his face vigorously. He moved out of the shop. I stood still. I didn't knew what to do. The rest of the customers crowded outside the kitchen.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, your orders will be ready in a while." Cody said apologetically to the customers. He then turned, and gestured me with his index finger, You are so dead now.
"Cody help me cleaning this mess."
"Hello? I have works to do outside. You clean it all by yourself." He went.
I took a deep breath and started cleaning off the flour. I made the orders of the customers and cleaned the kitchen again. I was so tired. My shoulders, my hands, my legs, were paining. It was seven in the evening and Cody left. I locked the door of the kitchen and as I turned around to go, I saw the same man standing in front of me who was all covered with flour this morning.
Adreano's POV :
I entered the mansion. Grandma came down the stairs laughing at me.
"Who are you? Who gave you permission to enter our mansion?" said Grandma stopping me in the hallway. Laughing even more and more.
"Grandma, please I am in a hurry, I have important meeting to attend. Let me go." I hurried up to the stairs.
"What's this white thing on you?" Grandma asked controlling her laughter.
"Ahh..don't remind me of that, or else someone will lose a life today."
I took a bath, dressed quickly and rushed to the office.
"Congratulations Mr. Stryker. Hope we will make a good profit with this deal." Mr. David my new construction partner greeted me.
"Of course." I said and headed towards my cabin.
My phone rang. It was Grandma.
"Yes my love?" I said while rolling the chair.
"Dear I have cancelled the tea party today." Her voice was low.
"Why?"
"That crazy designer has not designed my dress yet. He showed me another dress and when I tried it, I was looking so old!"
"Oh that's very bad." I was smiling.
"Yeah, I know. Well I called to inform you to cancel the order. Bring those cookies tomorrow. That crazy fellow will be ready with my dress tomorrow. "
"Okay, I'll talk to you later." I said as I saw Peter entering my cabin with some files.
"Okay, don't forget to eat your lunch. Bye."
I discussed about the deal we made with Peter. I knew this deal will be too good for our company. I could already see the statistics of the project higher than our rivals.
I left the office in the evening. I was on my way when my eyes me the Biscuit shop. I decided to go in and make tomorrow's order in advance. I don't want to waste even a minute tomorrow unlike today.
I entered the shop. She was locking the kitchen door. She then turned, our eyes met. She stood still. Her eyes widened.
I went closer to her.
"I...I am sorry sir, I didn't wanted to do that. It was an...an...acci..accident sir." She stammered.
I moved my steps closer. She was frightened and I liked it. She ruined my morning. Glaring at her angrily.
"Sir..but..it was your fault too. You should have taken permission before entering the kitchen. No one is allowed to enter the kitchen except for the staff."
I was shocked. Is this girl really mad? I mean, her actions and expressions were indicating her fright and uneasiness but she was blaming me for the incident.
"Oh, so it's my fault? You were the one who cut my forearm. You are the one who rained that Goddam flour on me and now you're telling me it's my fault? I think you should change you glasses so that you can not only clear your vision but also your brain." I grinned.
"Sir, I agree it was my fault that day. I applied bandage to the cut and even apologized you many times. Whatever happened today morning was clearly an accident, and it's your fault. You have surpasses our shop's rule and entered into our kitchen." She raised her voice a bit.
"This is how you talk to your customers? To shout at them and argue?" I placed my hands on the counter. "Where's the owner of the shop? I want to meet him."
"He's on a leave for a week." She said pursing her lips.
"Very well then, I will make sure when he comes next week, the license of his shop is taken off permanently." I said and went out of the shop.
She ran after me. "Sir wait! I am sorry..really very sorry!! Please don't do that. Please sir!" She pleaded. Her eyes were twinkling not sure because of the lights or her tears.
"Hmm, I can't say you anything about this. Make sure you make the orders which I made in the morning by tomorrow. Take as much time you want, but make sure it gets ready at eleven tomorrow morning."
"Okay sir." She nodded.
I reached home. Got fresh. Checked Grandma whether she's okay or not and went to bed.
Iva's face was revolving in my head. She's so funny. Too much innocence. She's crazy too. I have dated many beautiful and gorgeous models but she's something different. She wears loose clothes, big glasses but still something is in her which makes her attractive. I can't exactly say what's that thing but she's something. Something which makes her different from rest of the girls.
