Chapter One
The sound of the car door slamming shut stood out from the refreshing sounds of nature. Trees and grass elegantly swayed from the chilly wind under the setting sun.
Worn out, red shoes differ from the color of the soft green grass as the owner walked down down onto the field. The young adult stuffed his hands in his jeans' pockets, only to remove them as he plopped onto the ground and spread his limbs open wide.
As he laid on the ground, wind blew and he breathed through his nose, taking in the refreshing breeze. Here, he always felt welcome as it was a place where he can go whenever troubled.
The boy's black eyes gazed upon the stars above him as he let his mind drift into his own thoughts.
Never once did he expect it to happen. Why? When? For how long? His mind became occupied with questions as he continued to look at the nightsky with crestfallen eyes.
How naive, he chuckled. He should have saw it coming. Did he actually thought he wouldn't move on?
Why, why, why—He repeatedly recited the word.
Closing his eyes, he decided to try and relax. For now, it was just him and nature. No one to stop him. No distractions. No one to tell him how to feel and no one to tell him to listen.
But then his mind drifted to two days ago.

The downpour made clamoring noises, but the lad could hear what he was just told clearly.
The lad slammed his fist against the table, the sudden action making one of the adults in front of him flinch whilst the other watched, unamused.
"So, you're telling me that this woman is a replacement!?" The boy yelled.
The woman of the two adults looked at the boy with slightly narrowed eyes.
Her blue orbs pierced through the boy's. But the young lad couldn't care less and glared back, making the black-haired female scowl, feeling slightly intimidated.
"Watch your mouth, Dan." The man spoke, his voice deep and strict. The man's jaw was clenched, irritated at his son's behavior.
"No! You can't do that, Dad!" Dan yelled, making the man massage his forehead.
"Dan... Just listen." But despite his attempt, Dan made no signs of listening nor stopping. He continued to try and persuade his father. So, the man let him say the things he wanted to say, but the mention of his late wife made him snap.
"What would Mom say if she--"
"DAN!" The man slammed his fist against the table, enraged. The lad's eyes widened before narrowing, tears threatened to fall as his face showed an angered and melancholic expression.
When he realized what he had done, he rose his head to apologize, only to find his son already out the door when he heard it slam shut. And so, he was left with a lingering feeling of regret.
The lad went to a friend's house, which was only a few streets away from his. Knocking a few times, the door opened and he was greeted with a black-haired boy, Ray Fabian, Dan's friend ever since highschool.
Afterwards, he spent two days living with Ray and his family. The adults in the household didn't mind, as they knew the boy and his father fairly well. Acquainted is the right word.
But as he stayed, he refused to tell anyone what happened. Not even his friend knew. After all, it wasn't their issue to deal with. If he ever did tell anyone, he'll have to deal with feeling like an inconvenience.
Ray, his friend, gave him space as he needed it. Ray knew his friend better than anyone does, better than Dan knows himself.
It did feel sad in a way, that even if he was welcomed with open arms, he still felt out of place.
Though the argument wasn't what he was currently dwelling about, it was because despite the quarrel they had, he witnessed the new couple going out. As if nothing happened.

He opened his eyes, warm liquid dripping down after. His tears descended down to the side of his cheeks and onto the grass. The view of the as tears clouded his vision.
He wiped them away with his jacket's sleeve before he sniffled, the current events left quite an impact and a heavy weight on his shoulders. The salty fluid didn't seem to run out as his anger and sadness were shown through the action. He sat up then got onto his knees. As soon as his forehead came in contact with the ground, he screamed.
He took out his anger and sorrow by screaming. The sun had fully set and the moon had already started to arise. The change of setting giving the scene a more emotional view.
The action only showed how much he was able to keep it all bottled up inside for the past few days. He felt helpless, weak even.
But then a weak gust of wind come in his direction. Only noticing it when it gradually gained more strength than before. So through instinct, he got onto his feet.
The increase in force continued until it almost sent him flying. His eyes widened before he stomped his feet to prevent from being blown away and outstretched his arms in front of him. His head tilted down as he tried to overcome the power-increasing wind.
He felt his tears get blown away, but he couldn't care less. The grass furiously swayed along with the trees in the nearby forest.
He squinted his eyes but he couldn't see anything from the force. The wind continued to go his way as it became stronger for him to handle, he clenched his eyes shut before he was eventually swept off his feet and fell onto his rear end.
The wind continued to push further, bringing Dan's weight along— his bottom was literally being dragged on the ground, piling up dirt from behind.
Then the wind suddenly weakened. And in a matter of seconds, it was gone and everything felt like it was still.
The lad cracked open his eyes before opening them fully. He looked behind him only to see nothing. Unknown to him, even when the wind stopped, the grass continued to silently sway. He looked in front again before standing up.
It was like the wind just passed by, which made him feel skeptical. A glacial breeze met his face, making him stiffen. Out of pure instinct, he placed his hands in front of his face as he shut his eyes. He expected the same from earlier to occur, but his palms were only met with a weak and cold wind.
When his expectation didn't happen, he let his hands fall limp onto his sides. When his eyelids suddenly became slightly heavy, it was only then he realized how tired he had become after all his screaming and crying. Not to mention he wasted his strength on the wind.
He pulled his jacket sleeve up, revealing the brown and gold Kate Spade watch that his late mother left. At least with it, he wouldn't feel completely empty.
He took a glance and it seemed his guess was right as it was getting late, and the fact that he decided to do chores in the morning to repay the Fabians didn't help.
It was then he finally decided to call it a day.
Turning around, he started to walk towards the small hill that led to the road and to his car, but a gust of wind stopped him from going further.
He could feel the hair at the back of his neck stand up. He glanced over his shoulder, a blur of black and white was all he saw before his face kissed the ground.
