Birthday
I wrote this story when I was about eight, maybe nine. It was basically this super weird dream I had had and it just stayed with me for a really long time. Please don't hate this story considering it came out of a eight or nine year old's imagination! Enjoy xxxx
It was Sunday afternoon and Marie was celebrating her eighth birthday with her mother Julie, her father Steve and her grandmother Sally.
The boat was just amazing! It was huge and it had a swimming pool on it and its very own captain and crew who were simply too good to be true. They were so nice to Marie's family.
"Hello birthday girl, how are you liking this present?" asked Julie, a glass of champagne in her hand.
"It's amazing! I absolutely love it, thanks so much for this it's the best birthday ever Mum!" Marie answered, looking out to the vast expanse of ocean before her.
"Okay" her mother enthused "wait here a minute, it's time for the cake!"
With that, Marie's mother left her to admire the blueness of the ocean that surrounded her. As she was watching the waves, she noticed something rather peculiar happening: the waves were getting larger and they were banging on the side of the boat with more and more violence. Marie was about to back off from the side of the boat when a huge wave caught her by surprise, knocking her over her head banging on the ground. As the water washed off the side of the boat, it dragged a dazed Marie with it.
A distant chanting started aboard the boat "happy birthday to you..." as soon as the group made it around the corner and realized that Marie wasn't there, it didn't take a genius to understand what had happened judging by the huge wet patch where Marie had been left just three minutes earlier.
"MARIE!" Her mother shouted at the top of her lungs, gasping through sobs. Her father was already looking over the edge into the ocean that had just swallowed his beloved daughter, surely lost forever.
