Chapter II
"Anthea?"
Upon hearing the familiar yet unknown name, tears start streaming down her face. Her eyes become blurry as her head aches with a sharp pain.
"Chaméne?"
This time the name was familiar and the voice was different. This sound brought back her vision as she looked around to notice that all the people from before that were around her including the birthday celebration were not there. It was just her in her night-gown, standing in the middle of a road under a lamp with expressions clouded with anguish.
"Chaméne? Are you okay? What are you doing here?"
The voice again calls out to her and she looks at the source of the voice to see Kyría standing there with worry and surprise.
"Where did they go?"
Chaméne finally spoke up with a hoarse voice.
"Who?"
Kyría looked around to find nothing but tranquil darkness.
"Who are you talking about?"
"The little girl....the people....they were all celebrating the little girl's birthday and then I was the little girl and then.."
Chaméne starts blurting out whatever is in her mind as fast as possible making it difficult for the other person to understand.
"What birthday? What little girl? Just what are you talking about?"
Kyría tried to calm down the frantic girl in front of her and softly asked.
"That....that...."
Chaméne stuttered, trying to clear her thoughts and take in what just happened.
"Yes?"
Kyría patiently waited for her explanation.
"Anthea. Who is Anthea?"
Chaméne asked firmly.
"Anthea? That's the first I have heard of that name. Why are you trying to find that person?"
"It's the little girl's name that was just here."
"But there was no one here. Did she perhaps run away?"
"I...I don't know...she disappeared and then they all called me Anthea."
"Who? What are you talking about?"
"Those people that were surrounding the table, they called me Anthea. But...."
Chaméne head starts aching again and seeing how she was unable to make the confused person in front of her understand all that she just saw. She decides to leave it be and after taking a deep breathe, she calmly adds,
"Forget it. Looks like I had a dream."
"Yeah I think so to. It made you sleep walk also. Let's go back inside and remember to lock your room before you sleep. I don't want you getting hurt if you happen to sleep walk again."
"Okay..."
That night, no matter how hard Chaméne tried, she could not sleep. She kept thinking about all that happen and the one word she repeated to herself out loud was Anthea. Where had she heard that name before? Whenever she thinks of that word, it reminds her of a beautiful calming soft voice calling out the same name. Just who does that voice belong to? Why does that voice calms my uneasy heart and makes me feel at peace?
Soon while thinking of these thoughts, sleep falls on Chaméne and she wakes up the next day, full of energy contrary to prior night.
"You're up early?"
Kyría smiled at the girl who walks down the stairs. She was relief to see that the girl did not have the same freaked out pained expressions from last night.
"Did you manage to sleep properly?"
Kyría added after Chaméne didn't reply.
"Yeah."
Came a short response after which she drinks water.
"That's good. Here."
"What's this? Are you giving me money to spend?"
Chaméne's face lits up upon seeing the gold coins that Kyría hands her. But her happiness does not stay for long because of what she hears in response,
"No. It's for you to go buy things for breakfast. We are out of eggs, milk and bread."
"Why don't you buy monthly groceries instead of buying them at the last moment?"
Chaméne complains while mumbling as Kyría simply smiles in return.
"Hurry up."
"Yeah yeah, I am going."
Chaméne starts wearing her long boots and coat.
"By the way, if you're thinking that you will take some leftover money for yourself then don't think too hard. The money is enough for all the things."
".....I wasn't thinking that."
Chaméne's face twitches as Kyría had hit right on the mark. Chuckling nervously she adds,
"I'm leaving now. Please feed Gátcha and Sávra for me."
"Okay, be safe and come back quick."
Waving, Chaméne sets out to the nearby market place. The same people who at this time were going to their work passed by and greeted her as she greeted them back like usual.
After buying the stuff, Chaméne walks back happily when she bumps into someone, making her fall on to the ground. The shopping bag from her hand slips and things from inside fall a few feet apart from her. This also breaks the eggs.
Groaning in pain, Chaméne looks up to see the man who just pushed her. That guy was wearing a black cloak that covered his whole body and face except the lips. He doesn't even offer to help her get up. Chaméne then quickly gets up and starts collecting her things, all the while glaring at the main who keeps staring at her making her feel creeped out.
"You...."
He finally spoke.
"Are you finally gonna applogise? Look what happened because of you. The eggs got broken. Kyría is gonna kill me. She's gonna cut their money from my pay."
Chaméne grumbled and complained but her words have no affect on the guy who moves his hand and pointing at her states,
"This world is not real."
"Huh?"
Chaméne raises her brow in confusion and anger.
"What nonsense are you spouting? If you aren't gonna pay for the eggs or apologise then forget it."
"You need to wake up."
The guy keeps on changing the topic making Chaméne irritated.
"Just what do you mean? I am wide awake."
"Wake up, Anthea."
His words make Chaméne's eyes go round. He called her by the same name as that dream she had. She wanted to correct the man by saying that she was Chaméne but words fail to come out of her mouth. Before she could say anything, the guy vanishes into thin air.
"....what was that.....why did he say that.......this world is real....I mean this is the only world there is out there....but why did he call me Anthea? Those people from last time also called me Anthea.....just what is going on....."
