I pull a chair up to our favorite spot in the coffee shop. Right beside the window looking out on the beach. It was a spot for four, though there are only three of us. Occasionally the waitress would walk by and sit by us and have a chat with Holly, or Marianne. I wish more than anything that I could talk to that waitress.

The waitress's name is Katy. She is not much older than we are. Probably somewhere around 21. She wore an old-school diner outfit everyday. It made me want to laugh, but I couldn't. She deserved to be on broadway. She honestly deserved the world but what did she get, was to be cooped up in an old local coffee shop. Everyday when it was her turn to clean, Katy took the broom and danced with it. It was always one of the highlights of my day. I loved Katy and I love watching her dance.

It was five after four and Holly and Marianne had just arrived. It had felt like ages, staring at the beach and watching Katy, with nothing to say. They ordered 'the usual' and sat back down. Well, they didn't exactly order, Holly just walked up and Katie already had their orders ready. See, that's how great she is.

"What's new today?" Katie asked Marianne while she was sipping her hazelnut iced coffee. Katie and Marianne talked everyday about the lifeguards and boys.  I'm not into that sort of stuff. I know, I know, someday it will get me back but not yet. "Well, you'll never believe it but Cole, the hot new lifeguard from Alabama, asked out Jane, the most popular girl at school and-and-and she said no! I think I'm going for him next! You me beach tomorrow!" Marianne speaks about 700000 words per minute as usual but Katy understands her. "Probably the hottest gossip in 1983 and yes, I will be there." Katie replied laughing.

See this is why I love Katy so much! And no I don't love love her. That's weird right, your not supposed to like girls. I wish it wasn't so weird because, don't tell anyone but I think that I have a teeny tiny crush on Katy, the waitress at Hollywood Fresh Local Coffee Shop.
