Four

*****

Sorry, Guys! I know I haven't updated in a while, I've been super occupied with school and Show Choir. We are going to state in a couple weeks! Yay! So here's chappy four I know some of you have been on the edge of your seats anticipating for it so, your hopes have come true!

Enjoy!

*****

I stir, feeling groggy and light headed... and hungry. My stomach responds to my craving for something to eat. I get up deliberately, making sure not to push myself. My feet hit the soft carpet of my chambers and I stand up. My legs quiver but I'm able to maintain my weight on a dresser. I make my way towards the door one step at a time. As I reach for the door handle I hear footsteps sound from the other side and quickly step away and cover my mouth with my hand to keep my breathing silent.

"Do you think she's awake?" A shrill voice asks. A troll perhaps.

"I don't hear anything." A deeper voice responds. The doorknob gradually turns but I can't budge one inch.

"HEY! What are you two doing?" A voice blasts from a distance.

I could hear the two unknown voices gasp and step away from the door. Oh, thank god.

"Oh, we're sorry. We were just seeing if the Princess has awoken yet." the tiny voice says her voice holding a little quiver.

"Leave her be. You two go clean the King's chambers right away." The deep voice rumbles.

The pitter-patter of the little trolls fades away as they move down the hall. The voice who had interrupted them chuckles and walk in front of my door. "Good afternoon, Princess." The voice says and walks away.

My heartbeat returns to normal and I approach the doorknob and I slowly open it. The coast was clear so I step out into the roomy hallway. There were tons of artwork pieces hung on the walls I counted to about fifty at least. I wander down a couple of staircases and I hear a big clatter sound in the distance. Lochan in the kitchen maybe? I follow the noise to a dining room and into a kitchen. There was an astonishing scent hindering in the air and my stomach grumbles even more. There he was. Stirring a pot and I knew that smell too well. Patatoe and dumpling soup. My auntie would make it for me for lunch every afternoon when she had to look after me when I was younger since my mother was to busy in work to even acknowledge my permanence.

Truth is now that I thought about it, I didn't really know who my mother was.

It takes awhile for Lochan to realize that I was standing there. The corner of his mouth curves up into a smirk his eyes sparkling into mine.

"Look like sleeping beauty has already awoken from her slumber." He teases pouring the hot, delicious soup into a big bowl. He knew how hungry I was.

"For you, Princess."

I hop up onto a stool and don't even wait for it to cool down. I was too hungry to even care that it was burning my tongue so bad. Lochan takes my hunger into amusement and starts to laugh like crazy. I look at him with a confusing look.

"I didn't think a princess could eat like that!" He says wiping a tear from his cheek.

"I'm super hungry," I say defending my animal like eating.

He takes a seat across from me and contemplates my face.

"I'm surprised you're eating something that I made. After all, I did poison you. And I'm also astonished you aren't endeavoring to run away yet." He says studying me.

I shrug. "I'm too hungry to even care to hate you right now let alone plan out my escape," I say swallowing a large bite of soup.

"I didn't want to do it, Adara. The king threatened to kill my mother if I didn't do it and my mother holds something very dear to me." Lochan says pain and regret filled his eyes.

I nod in understanding. "You'd do anything for your family. I get that Lochan." I say apprehending that this was the first time he's even called me by my real name.

He looks at me and then at my bowl of soup. "Are you done with that?" He asks.

I smile shyly. "Yes, Thank you," I say and slide my bowl towards him.

He washes the bowl out in the sink and hundreds of questions flood my mind.

"How were you able to get me here without anyone seeing?" I ask.

He chuckles. "Well, Fire Immortals have abilities too. It's called Persuasion. I simply used it on everyone in the room. I convinced them I was taking you up to your room because you had collapsed and that was that."

I nod "Why was the fire king taking my mother out of the room? Is she okay?"

Lochan nods reluctantly. "She's fine. He was just misleading her. My persuasion doesn't work on your mother."

I nod again, imperceptibly satisfied.

"My friends will come for me. I'm sure of it. If I don't manage to escape that is"

"You mean your 'Friend' that intimidating girl who stood up for you out in the woods, correct?"

I nod. Raven and I have been friends since we were little. She was always the tough and courageous one. I on the other hand, not so much. I was always a wimp when we were little. There was this urban legend that our parents would tell us as a bedtime story just so we didn't creep off at night.

They said, "There's an evil old witch out in those woods who eat mischievous children, she fattens them up and then tosses them into a huge, heated oven."

Of course, Raven would be quick to break the rules with me tagging along. We searched the wood for hours only to apprehend that the story was only a deception. Raven, baffled. Me, relieved that we didn't run into a scary looking old cannibal. We got caught and grounded. My mother didn't take it too well and forbade me to ever speak to Raven again. But, that didn't stop us. We'd sneak out every night and stargaze under the Willow Tree where Raven's mother was buried.

We'd laugh and sing and make memories. After that, we've been like sisters. Stuck like glue through everything.

"Princess?"

I shake my head and snap out of the long daze. "Sorry just thinking," I mutter.

Lochan smirks. "So want a tour of the castle?"

I shrug. "Why not."

*************

Welp, there's chappy four! I know it's not as long! I've been super sick over the past week and I didn't feel like making this one as long. Hope you enjoyed. You got a little more insight on Raven and Adara's relationship.

How would you all feel about making the next chapter in Ravens POV?

Just a thought! :3 <3
