**_Raven's POV_**
I return to the punch bowl table completely worn out. My feet hurt like hell to where they throbbed and pained.
I wish these dooshes knew how to dance.
I grab some punch and lean up against the table examining the room for Adara. I look for a crimson red dress but when I don't see her nor the boy she was supposed to be dancing with my instincts go into hyperdrive and my blood boils. I spot Simon in the distance and stalk towards him.
"Wheres Adara?" I growl.
He shrugs. "She fainted and was carried to her room. That's the last thing I remember."
If she was feeling off she would have come and found me. But I walked out of the room for a couple minutes. Maybe she couldn't find me.
I storm out of the ballroom and sprint up the staircases two at a time. Thank God I was wearing flats. I hurriedly walk down the halls and make it to her door and knock, well more like slam on the door.
"Adara! Are you in there?" When there's no response I bust in and my skin shivers.
She wasn't there. Shit. My head feels like its spinning out of control and I can't think straight. Where was she? She wouldn't have left the castle without telling me. I run out of her room and down the hallway and essentially run into Simon.
"Was she there?" He asks me his voice stern.
I shake my head vigorously. "No. Where could she have gone."
Simons' face goes blank and his eyes seem to remember something.
"Who was she dancing with? That's the one thing my mind won't let me remember."
"One of the fire immortals. Lochan I think his name was." I say.
He nods as if he could have guessed. "He has persuasion. He used it on everyone in the room. That's why I thought she fainted and she was taken to her room. We need to find The Queen."

The queen puts her head in her hands and sighs.
"How did this happen? I knew I shouldn't have left the ballroom." She says.
"What was the Fire King talking to you about," Simon asks.
The Queen's wicked eyes flash up at Simon's slightly. "That is none of your business."
I step up in front of Simon and look at the queen directly in the eyes. I knew she hated my guts but Adara is my best friend. I'm not about to leave her in the Fire Realm knowing that the Fire King could strike her at any moment.
"Your majesty. I'm going to look for her. You can't stop me I'm old enough to make my own choices you aren't 'My' mother. Adara has been my friend since we were little and I'm not about to let her down now." I say strongly. God, I just killed myself.
The Queen doesn't look at me and her eyes are glassy with...Tears.
"Bring my daughter back to me." She whispers, it was barely perceptible but I knew she said it.
I nod and exit her chambers. Stalking towards the armor room. I'm not going there without protection. Simon is quick to run to my side and grab my arm. I glare at him and he steps back.
"I'm coming with you. I care about Adara as much as you do."
I laugh bitterly. "You? Care about Adare? Don't lie to me, Simon. You've been forcing her away for years. You don't give two shits about her. I've been the one who had to calm her every night because of you. You damaged her, Simon. Don't you get that?"
His eyes soften as if he just started understanding what he's done to her. He nods. "I know I've hurt her. And I want to help." He says softly.
I turn on my heels and sprint to the weapons room, entering and already grabbing what I needed.
Simon reaches and takes the black crossbow out of my hands putting it back in its place. "These aren't the good weapons." He says holding up a silver key and walks to a big door, unlocks it, and pushes it open.
My eyes go wide and my jaw drops to the floor. Swords made of steel and crossbows made of iron and metals. Hammers, guns, bows, arrows.
"Grab as much as you can carry," Simon says already grabbing a sword off of a shelf.
I nod while smiling. "Now your talking."

***Adara's POV***
Lochan walks me around the castle showing me more paintings and how they were made and why. He showed me dozens of rooms that I couldn't keep count of. He tells me the history of the Fire Realm which wasn't so appealing.
We walk in silence for a long while and I finally decided to ask him something.
"You said that The Fire King was going to kill your mother if you didn't...Do what you did. And you said she carries something very dear to you."
He nods his eyes saddening. "She carries my little sister, Annalise."
"That's a lovely name," I say.
He grins. "It was my great grandmother's name. My mom's mom. They were very close when they were younger. But, my great-grandmother died of old age."
"I'm sorry."
He looks at me his eyes confused and his lips press into a fine line as if frustrated, his lips part letting out a sigh as if he was about to say something but quickly changes the subject. "You know it's funny. You don't have the same... Aura as the usual Ice Immortal." He says studying me from head to toe. I felt small under his gaze like the world was slowly closing in on me and I'm getting smaller by the minute.
"What do you mean?" I ask nervously rubbing at my wrist, it was burning.
"I'm just saying normal fire immortals have a dark blue aura.... but yours has a red tint to-"
His sentence is interrupted by the boy known as Mason, who of which was blocking our path. His mouth was quirked up into a wicked half grin and he bows slightly to me.
"Good afternoon princess. Glad I found you. The King asked me to escort you to the throne room to have a 'little' chat." Mason says and holds out his arm for me to take. Before I can say anything Lochan was already standing in my path and lets out a deep growl.
"I think I'm perfectly capable of escorting her there myself Mason. Go on with your business and leave Adara alone." He says and grabs my forearm and drags me away from Mason who was now chuckling.
"Suit yourself." He calls and disappears down the hallway.
Lochan's grip was so tight on my arm I'm sure it would break. I yank my arm back and he lets go looking at the hand mark he has made. "Sorry." He mumbles and we continue walking down the hall in silence. His muscled clench as we stand outside a big door that was probably the throne room. He hesitates while grabbing the doorknob, but opens it and we step through. We walk down the long path up to the man sitting in a chair in the distance. As far as I could see, he had dangerous facial features, his armor was red and had a design of flames. His dark black beard was done precisely into a design that was rather intimidating. His lips were curled up into a wicked smile, one that made my skin squirm.
"It's good to see you, Adara. Looks like you recovered well from my plan." His voice rumbles and I could help but flinch at how powerful it sounded.
I nod and keep my head held high. I can't let this man get ahold of my bravery. You know better than that Adara. Focus.
"What did you bring me here for." Thankful my voice was strong and confident I almost wanted to give my self a high five. I do that mentally and keep my eyes focused on The Fire King.
He chuckles. "I have my reasons for bringing you here. Reasons that some people can't hear. Lochan leaves us be."
Lochan was reluctant to leave me alone with him but by the looks of the Fire Kings stare it frightened Lochan and he obeys and leaves. The throne rooms door closes leaving me and the Fire King alone. SIlence sustains us and all he does is grin at me.
"Tell me why you brought me here Fire King. I deserve to know why you chose to get one of your minions to poison me against his will, and take me away from my home." I scold stepping closer the evil man.
He nods and gets up from his throne. "Your mother didn't tell you did she. Of course, she didn't. I knew she'd keep this from you. I tried to reason with her but you know where that goes." He says his heat radiating off his body and causing my skin to break out into a sweat.
"Tell me what?" I inquire squinting my eyes at him.
Before I had time to react the man was grabbing my wrist and pulling up my jacket sleeve to expose my veined tree embedded into my skin. I gasp and his chortles as he sees the redness coursing through the veins.
"Well, Adara. If you must know. You have obviously realized that you are not just part of the Ice Realm. You also belong here, with me." He says his voice barely audible.
"How do I belong here with you?"
He takes his time to respond and his lips part and his eyes flicker to mine for the shortest moment. "Adara. You are my daughter," he says and its as if my whole world ended just by hearing that small sentence.
