Chapter 19
Shelby's POV
"Ready to go?" Ms. Simmons asked me.
"Yeah." I zipped up my last bag. We took them downstairs and stopped to tell the Malfoy's bye.
"Bye Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy. Thanks for everything. Bye Draco." I told them.
"You're welcome. We'll see you in a few months." Narcissa said. Ms. Simmons led me to the front door. She opened the door and I saw the last thing I expected.
"Hermione! Harry! Ron!" I said in shock.
"Hey Shelby! Did you have a good birthday?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah it was great. How did you guys get here?"
"I went and got them earlier. They're staying with us a week. And the last week of summer you're staying with the Weasley's." Ms. Simmons explained.
"Really?! We're going to have so much fun!"
"Yes. Now we better go back in and use the Malfoy's floo system." We all hurried inside. Draco and his parents didn't say a word to Hermione, Ron, or Harry. Ms. Simmons went next. I gave a quick wave bye to the Malfoy's and entered the fireplace.
"Wait." Draco said. I looked at him waiting for him to say something.
"Hope you have fun with your Potter." He snarled. I ignored him and flooed to Ms. Simmons house.
~Months Later~
"Why hasn't Harry answered us?" I asked Ron. I arrived at his house yesterday. We've been writing Harry all summer but he won't answer.
"Either he doesn't like us or the Dursley's are involved." Ron answered.
"We've got an idea." Fred barged in Ron's room.
"What?" Ron asked.
"We take Dad's car and go save him." George explained.
"That's bloody brilliant!" Ron exclaimed.
"When do we leave?" I asked.
"We leave tonight. You are staying here." Fred told me.
"What?! That's not fair!"
"It's too dangerous." George said.
"You two talking about danger? You two love danger." I said.
"Yes we do but you're too young." Fred said.
"But so is Ron." I protested.
"Yeah but he's our brother. If he gets hurt we don't care." Fred said.
"Fine I'll stay." I gave in.
The next morning I walked downstairs with Ginny and heard Mrs. Weasley yelling at the boys.
"Harry!" I smiled.
"Hey Shelby."
The next thing I knew I was swinging a gnome across the yard.
"This is kind of disturbing." I whispered to Harry.
"Just a little." He whispered back and threw a gnome over the fence.
That night I sat on Ginny's bed and talked with her.
"Are you excited about your first year at Hogwarts?" I asked her.
"Kind of. I'm a little nervous too."
"I was too. But you'll be fine. Just stay out the Potter/Malfoy drama."
"So is Draco really that bad?"
"I don't know. He's not if it's just me and him but towards others he is. But don't worry, you can take him." I assured her. She giggled.
"Tell me about you and Harry?" I asked her.
"There's nothing to tell." She sighed and her face dropped.
"Not yet."
"Goodnight Shelby." She slightly smiled.
"Goodnight Ginny."
"Shelby. Shelby wake up." Someone shook me. I opened my eyes to see Fred and George standing around me.
"What?" I groaned.
"We need your help." Fred said.
"With?"
"An experiment. Get up." George shook the bed. I rolled out of bed and trudged behind them to their room.
"Just stand there." Fred advised me.
"Ok." I yawned. He grabbed some kind of powder from inside a pouch and threw in on me. Nothing happened....I thought.
"By Georgie it worked!" Fred exclaimed.
"What?" I asked.
"Look in the mirror." George said smiling widely. I walked over to the mirror and looked. I didn't see anything.
"Where am I?!" I asked them.
"You're invisible." Fred explained.
"Invisibility powder." George said.
"How do you fix it!?"
"It'll wear off soon." Fred said.
"It better." I growled.
"You better stay in here till it does. Ya know, so Mum doesn't see it." Fred said.
"Fine."
The Invisibility powder wore off after a couple hours. I had to stay couped up in Fred and George's room. It was....interesting to say the least. Now we're going to Diagon Alley to get school supplies.
"Have you ever flooed before?" Mrs. Weasley asked me.
"Yeah." Fred and George went and then I went with no problems. Harry on the other hand....
"Oh dear he's lost! We shouldn't have let him floo!" Mrs. Weasley said in hysterics.
"Molly we'll find him." Mr. Weasley assurred her.
"Harry," Mr. Weasley panted. "We hoped you'd only gone one grate too far. ..." "Molly's frantic — she's coming now —"
"Where did you come out?" Ron asked.
"Knockturn Alley," said Hagrid grimly.
"Excellent!" said Fred and George together.
"We've never been allowed in," said Ron enviously.
"I should ruddy well think not." growled Hagrid.
"Oh, Harry — oh, my dear — you could have been anywhere —"
"Well if it isn't Dumbledore and Potter." Draco's voice rang out.
"Hello Draco." I said without looking at him.
"Bet you loved that, didn't you, Potter? Famous Harry Potter," said Malfoy. "Can't even go into a bookshop without making the front page."
"Leave him alone, he didn't want all that!" said Ginny.
"Potter, you've got yourself a girlfriend!"
"Leave them alone Draco." I told him.
"Or what? Are you going to turn into a demon?" He said. Fred stepped in front of me.
"Leave her alone. She's not a demon." He growled.
"And you've got yourself a boyfriend Dumbledore." Draco chuckled.
"Maybe she has. Anything would be better than you." Fred said.
"Oh, it's you," said Ron, looking at Malfoy as if he were something unpleasant on the sole of his shoe. "Bet you're surprised to see Harry here, eh?"
"Not as surprised as I am to see you in a shop, Weasley," retorted Malfoy. "I suppose your parents will go hungry for a month to pay for all those." Ron went after him but Harry and Hermione grabbed him. I heard Mrs. Weasley in the background trying to get to us.
"Well, well, well — Arthur Weasley." Lucius Malfoy's voice rang out.
"Lucius," said Mr. Weasley, nodding coldly.
"Busy time at the Ministry, I hear," said Mr. Malfoy. "All those raids ... I hope they're paying you overtime?" He reached into Ginny's cauldron and grabbed one of her books.
"Obviously not," Mr. Malfoy said. "Dear me, what's the use of being a disgrace to the name of wizard if they don't even pay you well for it?"
"We have a very different idea of what disgraces the name of wizard, Malfoy," he said.
"Clearly," said Mr. Malfoy, his pale eyes straying to Mr. and Mrs. Granger, who were watching apprehensively. "The company you keep, Weasley ...and I thought your family could sink no lower —"
After that everything went fast. Ginny's cauldron hit the floor because Mr. Weasley threw himself at Mr. Malfoy.
"Get him Dad!" Fred yelled. I took the opportunity to go around him. I saw Draco smirking and snapped. I lunged at him. His eyes widen.
"No, Arthur, no!" Mrs. Weasley yelled.
"Gentlemen, please — please!" Cried the assistant. I felt Fred and George pulling me. I clawed at Draco's face.
"Break it up, there, gents, break it up —" Hagrid's voice boomed. He pulled the two men apart. Fred and George got me off of Draco with the help of Percy. Draco had a bloody nose.
"Come on." Fred said and led me out of the store. When we were out of ear shot he turned to me.
"That was bloody amazing!" He told me.
"Really brilliant!" George said.
"I try."
"You really nailed him." George said.
"Not hard enough." I said.
The Slytherin Common Room should be interesting after this....
