Chapter 6: Moving In
Brenda's heart was racing as she packed up the last of her belongings. She couldn't believe she was actually moving into Mr. Heart's mansion. It all felt so surreal.
As she finished packing, Mr. Heart appeared at her doorstep, looking handsome and relaxed. "Ready to go?" he asked, flashing a charming smile.
Brenda nodded, feeling a flutter in her chest. She followed Mr. Heart to his car, where his driver was waiting to take them to the mansion.
As they drove, Brenda's sister Belle called her, sounding upset. "Brenda, how could you do this to me?" Belle asked, her voice trembling.
"Do what?" Brenda replied, feeling a pang of guilt.
"You're moving in with Mr. Heart, and you didn't even tell me! I had to find out from the news," Belle said, her voice rising.
Brenda sighed, feeling a headache coming on. "Belle, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just...complicated."
"Complicated?" Belle repeated. "You're living with a billionaire, Brenda! What's complicated about that?"
Brenda rubbed her temples, feeling a wave of frustration. "Just drop it, Belle. Please."
The rest of the drive was silent, with Brenda lost in thought. When they arrived at the mansion, Mrs. Heart was waiting to greet them.
After lunch, Mr. Heart suggested they go shopping to get Brenda some new clothes. Brenda agreed, and they set off in Mr. Heart's sleek black sports car.
As they strolled through the upscale mall, Brenda couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed. Mr. Heart was buying her designer dresses and shoes, and she felt like a princess.
As they walked, Mr. Heart casually placed his hand on the small of Brenda's back, guiding her through the crowded store. Brenda felt a shiver run down her spine at his touch.
"Thanks for doing this," Brenda said, smiling up at Mr. Heart. "I feel like a whole new person."
Mr. Heart smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You deserve it," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Just as it seemed like the moment was about to get more intimate, James appeared out of nowhere. "Well, well, well," James sneered, his eyes narrowing at Mr. Heart. "Look what we have here."
Brenda's heart sank, feeling a wave of anxiety. "James, what do you want?" she asked, trying to keep her cool.
"I just wanted to congratulate you on your new...arrangement," James said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You always did have a thing for rich guys."
Mr. Heart stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger. "I don't think that's any of your business," he said, his voice low and menacing.
James smirked, but backed off. "Whatever. You two deserve each other."
As James walked away, Brenda felt a wave of relief. "Thanks for standing up for me," she said, smiling up at Mr. Heart.
Mr. Heart smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anytime," he said.
The rest of the day was a blur of shopping and laughter. Brenda couldn't believe how much fun she was having with Mr. Heart.
But as the sun began to set, Brenda's thoughts turned to Ayla, Mr. Heart's friend. She had been hearing rumors about Ayla and Mr. Heart's past, and she couldn't help but feel a little curious.
As they drove back to the mansion, Brenda asked Mr. Heart about Ayla. "So, tell me about Ayla," she said, trying to sound casual.
Mr. Heart smiled, a faraway look in his eyes. "Ayla and I have been friends since childhood," he said. "We grew up together, and she's one of the few people who really understands me."
Brenda felt a pang of jealousy, but pushed it aside. "That's nice," she said. "I'd love to meet her sometime."
Mr. Heart nodded, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I'm sure you two will get along famously," he said.
As they pulled up to the mansion, Brenda felt a sense of excitement. She couldn't wait to meet Ayla, and to see what the future held for her and Mr. Heart.
But little did she know, the drama was only just beginning.
